how fast can you travel in breath of the wild i mean look at this map it's huge the distance between the akala ancient tech lab in gerudo town is over 10 kilometers which took me like 45 minutes to walk by foot and i mean walk not sprint guardians kept trying to kill me i hated it i don't want to do that again now i know what you're thinking just warp to the coach to say shrine no i'm not gonna do that i'm not a [ __ ] i'm gonna do this the right way what's the fastest speed you can reach in breath of the wild using this we can figure out a method to get us across the map as fast as possible to help i installed a mod by it t piston that shows link's coordinate position on the map using it i can run down a path take the distance between two points divide it by the time it took and bam we can figure out that link sprints at about 30 kilometers per hour but even with just link we can travel faster than that if we cook four fleet lotus seeds with a shard of ferocious horn we get a 30 minute level 3 speed boost this buffs our movement speed up to 38 kilometers per hour or 23.6 miles per hour this is just about as fast as we can go with link on his own trying the trek to gerudo village using this method took me about 23 and a half minutes which is better but still kinda sucks we're gonna need something faster than link so let's try some mounts i've got this nice horse here and it travels a mean 31.5 kilometers per hour which is slower than link i've got a better horse this one has a 5 star speed rating and hits top speeds of around 65 kilometers per hour but what's kind of annoying is that this thing has a stamina rating of three which means i constantly need to wait between speed boosts so do we have any better options our first is the most obvious the infinite stamina glitch for the horse if you quickly hop on and off the back of the horse you can reset its stamina instantly to avoid the cooldown now getting this over a hundred times in a row to travel across the map not that realistic at least not for me however we can't estimate that using this glitch we could cross the map in about 14 and a half minutes there's some other easier options like lord of the mountain who can be found on satori mountain during a crescent moon this makes them kind of tedious to get but if we do we'll have a decently fast mountain that never runs out of stamina without using glitches it can travel at about 57 and a half kilometers per hour which is slower than a five-star horse unfortunately next we have the master cycle zero which is just barely faster than lord of the mountain at 60 kilometers per hour or 37.2 miles per hour the master cycle is slower than sidon who can travel through water at 61.5 kilometers per hour who is then beaten by sand seals that reach top speeds of 76 kilometers per hour or 47.2 miles per hour however there's an issue we can't take sand seals or cyan from the tech lab to gerudo town it is possible to glitch both of them into areas they aren't supposed to be but that isn't practical for this challenge saidan just breaks out of bounds and travels super slow while sand seals only work properly in sand you could bring a sand seal to the beach and ride it around but there isn't a beach that stretches all the way from akala to gerudo with all this in mind it's a pretty close race between the 5 star horse the master cycle and the lord of the mountain for best mount to travel across the map in my test the 5 star horse was fastest at 14 and a half minutes master cycle second at 16 minutes and lord of the mountain third at 16 and a half minutes the only major downside with all three of these mounts is that none of them can actually enter gerudo desert meaning the last kilometer on eddy mount will be losing a little bit of time another thing i thought to try was shield surfing but that has its own issues you're actually able to reach speeds as fast as 64 kilometers per hour while going down steep hills with a slick shield which is pretty fast and i mean there are plenty of hills along the way to gerudo town but we aren't going to be reaching that speed consistently on a realistic route i do an attempt with a focus on shield surfing downhills and running everywhere else but there just is no way that's going to be faster than a horse if we're going to get from the tech lab to gerudo town even faster we're going to need to think a bit more creatively on all of my attempts so far i've been following this path unfortunately taking a direct route from the tech lab to gerudo town isn't all that feasible there's mountains monsters lakes and other things that get in the way if we go off course the big problem with this is that this series of paths is about 15 kilometers which is five kilometers more than taking a straight line between the two points if we could find a way around taking this route even if it reached slower top speeds we'd still be able to save a lot of time the solution put two mine carts on top of each other and [ __ ] fly baby that's right we made a flying machine flying machines at their top speeds can travel at about 77 kilometers per hour or 47.8 miles per hour with one we'd have the opportunity to take a direct route from the ancient tech lab to gerudo town cutting out that unnecessary winding route we were forced to take on the ground this brings our journey time down to a measly eight minutes these things are honestly great like look at this oh [ __ ] falling machine right before hitting the ground link is traveling at 218.5 kilometers per hour or 135.8 miles per hour if we could fall straight from the tech lab to gerudo town it'd take us about three and a half minutes unfortunately we can't do that and besides link would die we need something safer like curling a tree into his back at 300 kilometers per hour you've probably seen it before stasis launching but in case you haven't this is when you use the stasis run ability to freeze something hit it a lot to build up energy and then jump in front of it right as it launches this will give link a ton of momentum traveling around 250 kilometers per hour right as he gets hit this however slows down pretty quickly until we're on our paraglider and sailing at about 160 kilometers per hour we'll keep losing momentum from there but once we're traveling too slow we can just drop down to the ground and do it again this is an incredibly effective way to travel short distances very quickly but starts to fall flat once we try and travel across the entire map we have to perform a launch fly a bit and get back on the ground and then repeat over and over and over again i tried this a few times with the trees in the call region but unfortunately the whole process just takes way too long so we're probably not going to be the flying machine doing this over a long distance we run into a similar issue with the bullet time bounce or btb in a nutshell this is a glitch where you enter bullet time right before bouncing on an enemy with a shield to get launched super far into the air in my attempts i was able to hit speeds as high as 300 kilometers power or 186.4 miles per hour the instant i launched and then by the time i pulled out my paraglider i was traveling at over 200 kilometers per hour we'll eventually slow down and you'll have to land to find another enemy to perform the glitch on finding the right enemies and performing the glitch in the exact way several times in a row to get across the entire map just isn't realistic however and even then all the setup time for each individual btb we perform will just eat into our average speed what we need is a glitch that can be easily performed anywhere with minimal setup what we need is the wind bomb this is one of the most commonly seen methods to travel quickly around breath of the wild's map and for good reason you can go really fast from almost anywhere using two bombs and your bow in general a glitch works by dropping the circle bomb while midair entering bullet time dropping the square bomb and then exploding the circle bomb if done right the square bomb will fly into link's back and propel him through the air the speed you get typically will range a lot but i was able to go as fast as 400 kilometers per hour on impact but that typically slowed down to under 200 kilometers per hour by the time i pulled out my paraglider you can actually maintain more of your speed pulling out the paraglider by doing something called a super launch in a nutshell if you pull out the paraglider on a lag frame which you can sometimes do by spamming the rune quick menu pausing the game and pulling it out the frame you unpause link will maintain more of his speeds into the paraglide if we combine super launches with wind bombs we're able to navigate across the map a bit faster than using wind bombs on their own because of how difficult it is to perform both of these tricks consistently i reached out to the 100 speed runner bing's f who recorded himself traveling across the map in just under five and a half minutes the next glitch we have in our arsenal is the bolif smuggle slide or blss for short the glitch is performed by getting link into this weird game state where he's holding both his bow and a bomb or other object next we walk off a ledge that has a specific step up animation this causes link to fly through the air and lets us pick up a ton of speed by wiggling the joystick during this glitch i was able to reach a max speed of 250 kilometers per hour 155.3 miles per hour however more talented players have recorded speeds as fast as 379 kilometers per hour if we want to cross the entire map using this glitch we need to think a bit creatively we take the direct route towards south the call is stable we don't have enough height to pass the ridge so instead we can travel this way over the akala parade ground ruins to make it to the center of the map once we're near gerudo desert we have to navigate a specific way through the canyon to eventually reach the desert and then finally gerudo town since i'm not the best at performing this glitch i again reached out to bings who was able to get a full clip of him flying link across the entire map in only 3 minutes honestly go follow his twitch channel he's a big reason this video is possible also subscribe here to make the hundreds of kilometers i traveled for this video worth something thanks i'd be satisfied with this as an ending but while doing research i found one more glitch that i think can get us across the entire map faster than a blss the breath of the wild super swim this glitch is a little bit on the complicated side but to set it up we first need to activate the moon jump glitch by hopping on another horse during archery training next we need to clip under the map by the tech lab moon jump onto a wall and then hop off into a shield surf we'll clip through the water layer and proceed to spend the next five minutes falling 1600 meters below the map once that's done we can cancel the shield surf moon jump and then hold the opposite direction of where we want to go on the joystick with this glitch i was able to hit top speeds of 380 kilometers per hour or 236.1 miles per hour and this was consistent unlike the other glitches where we'd slowly lose momentum in this glitch we'd gain speed until hitting the cap somewhere around that mark the only thing that got in the way was the constant freezing the game needed to load the map even with the freezing we can make it all the way from the akala ancient tech lab to just outside gerudo town in about 2 minutes and 15 seconds if the game could run perfectly and never froze we'd be able to make it across the map in just one minute and 45 seconds what you don't like the fact i didn't count the time i spent getting moon jump clipping out of bounds and falling five minutes into the total time yeah well i also didn't include the time it took me to bring the mine cart from death mountain over to the tech lab or the time it took me to bring the lord of the mountain from satori mountain over the lab get halfway across the map get shot by a guardian to the mountain disappeared then i went through the whole process to go over to the mountain again and got shot by a guardian a second time i'll bring it to the tech lab and then on the third time i finally made it all the way from the tech club to the desert and holy [ __ ] i hate guardians now um anyways it's pretty clear the fastest way to travel across the map over an extended period of time is the super swim or maybe the dlss if you don't want to count setup okay it's actually warping but [ __ ] that
