Liminal Space Pools - Part 2

[Music] [Music] what is it about pools and water parks that give a feeling of familiarity the design for most vary yet people feel nostalgic when looking at certain images even to places they've never been these places hard to look similar so why do they feel so connected do these pools and water parks have a connection i can't be sure we can at least figure out where they come from welcome back to liminal spaces pool edition [Music] the name of this indoor water park is aqua park babylon what really gets me is how low the ceiling is i can imagine it makes the space feel very cramped and being in under a water park i can assume it does there's not much to say about this image besides the obvious giant octopus but what i find interesting about the waterpark itself is that it actually features a variety of neon lights throughout the park aqua park babylon is located in the czech republic [Music] so this hotel pool design is a little overcomplicated for being a hotel pool however i'm sure one would expect this luxury when staying at such a fancy resort as this pool resides the grand peacock towers fox woods which as previously mentioned is a resort as well as a casino and a golf course all located in lake yard connecticut so this was the first image i wasn't able to find and i think that's because the person who uploaded this honestly just just took this picture and uploaded it because i couldn't find it anywhere i searched multiple different reverse search engines but i wanted to speak more personally with this image in a sense that it feels very nostalgic for me because i always remember my family going to the beach every couple years and i would always see something very similar to this in that you would look out of your balcony at night and you would see the sand but you never really could see the ocean just a quiet empty void we have another empty indoor water park this one is located in anchorage alaska this image just spews uncanny energy and i think i know why firstly as with most if not all liminal space images there's no people in it secondly all the water in this image is still and the park is turned off okay so what makes it any different from any other indoor waterpark image well the water isn't the only thing completely turned off there's a massive fan at the top and its movement is completely still so with all these things turned off why are the lights still on on top of that for being a water park it looks completely dry take a look at this blue slide all the way to the right it seems if no water has run down it in quite a while even when looking at other images of the park they're not this strange this image is just weirdly different ttt water world this image is taken from the popular source game garry's mod on the treble and terrace town map water world now it can be argued that every source map is a liminal space but really soak in the atmosphere of this map the large empty room the cold industrial feel the fact there's only a couple colors being white blue and yellow [Music] and if you've played a source game you know about the quiet ambient hum which fills you with nothing but loneliness and isolation an unintended yet highly appreciated playable limital space which leads us to our next image [Music] so this image comes from the video game animoyapolis which is based off liminal spaces and let me stop right there because unlike waterworld which is just a map this is a full video game based around just liminal spaces alone and rather than spoiling anything why don't we go through it together so join me next time where we take a full dive into the eerie abandoned town of anemiapolis [Music] but before i end the video i just wanted to say thank you all so much for the support once again when i uploaded the last video i was at 50 subscribers now somehow i've doubled that and i'm at a hundred i literally have no idea how that's possible so all i can say is just thank you it means a lot the next video might take me a while to make but i will say if this video also does well i do have enough content to make a part 3 so let me know if you're interested and i can do that as always thank you for watching and take care
