hey guys DJ's DIY here um I just fixed my garage door because I had the this side of the door was up about a half an inch higher and it was letting daylight out from underneath the door and I watched a lot of videos on how to get this door leveled again and none of it seemed to work for me everything from loosening the springs with the rods holding it in place and then tightening it with with clamps like vise grips on that rod to tighten up the cable on each side that's the problem is that your cables aren't tight on both sides so I'm going to show you what I did and it worked out way better for me than following the steps from all the other videos I'm not saying that the other videos were wrong but this is how I did it so the first thing you're going to want to do is Polito release cable first thing you got to do now next thing I'm going to grab the tools that you need and I'm going to show you what to do okay so this is what I use I got my two rods here to take the tension off the springs I have a piece of pipe that I used as a snipe and this bolt went into the hole to give the tension onto the that spool up here that holds the cable so the first thing we got to do just give me one sec I'm going to climb up here okay so here's your spring it doesn't matter which side you do it on you're going to put one rod in here and you're going to lift up I'll pop the set my camera down and then show you once it's in I can't do this with one hand okay there we go so I used this top rod and I lift it upward and then you slide the other rod into the bottom hole until it'll rest against the door here so that's keeping all the pressure off of here right now now we're going to move over to that spool so what I did to get this cable tight I did this on both sides left and right because it has to be fairly tight as you can see here kind of like a guitar string anyway so I loosened off this top set screw here and then this one I completely removed it once it was removed I had a bolt that went into that threaded nd into here actually was a little bit smaller didn't even thread in but I stuck it in there I used my snipe overtop of this bolt to pull down and that gave me lots of tension on here and while holding the snipe downward I tightened this one as tight as I could and then put this bolt back in went to the same side to the other side I did the exact same thing and tightened everything back up and then you just go back over here pull these rods back out I'm going to do that right now and again now you just reverse the process you just left with the one I'm lifting now that one slides out now we're back on the spring tension and put that back up lock your door in place and my door is perfectly even test it out open it close it and now there's no light coming through before there was quite a bit a light coming from this side and that is it that's all you got to do every other video like they told me to rest the rods and the springs loosen both Springs and this is a very dangerous job to be doing as it is but I found this to be the best and simplest way and worked perfect so give my video a like share it subscribe to my channel that's DJ's DIY thanks again guys
