all right folic fam welcome back to another episode or welcome to the channel my name is Rich and today we're going to start things off by doing a little light tackle inore surf fishing here in South Florida The Tide is going out right now and although it's late morning I'm hoping we'll still be able to find some fish biting and then once the tide switches and starts coming in we'll also be able to still get on uh some action so stay tuned let's start plugging away [Music] [Music] so to start we got to get rigged up and recently salt strong sent me a bunch of different soft Plastics and I think right here in this scenario right now we'll start out with the power prawn and what I love about the power prawn is right out of the bag it has a really great garlicky salty flavor to it and you can rig it either on a jig head like this if you're fishing slightly deeper in Shore Waters like say maybe 5 to 2 ft or so but in this area to start I want to try and just focus right on that first drop or the lifp where it goes from like 5 in of water to like 2 ft so I think I'm going to rig it on this 1/8 ounce weedless uh screw lock lock ewg weighted hook and now we're about ready to hopefully get some fish on the board but first let's put on a little squirt of doctor juice we got some good current sweeping from left to right here around this uh Sandy Point and there should be something here I want to make it look as natural as possible as the shrimp is drifting through the water column and I'm giving it little jigs to make it look like it's trying to flee or as if it's injured and I should see a couple fish cruising real shallow here that I might be able to sight cast to the water right now is a whopping 80° on the surface so it's pretty warm oh there was a bite we got a little nip there there's a snook right here sitting in the shallows oh he didn't hit it oh there was a bite there we go woo nice found the first little spunky snook of the trip not bad that a beautiful little light tackle snook on oh come on did you see that it dropped off his lip and went down in between his gills there that's why it's always good to have these long pliers got it without Harmon his gills see you little guy now that was fun sweet we've only been fishing for like 5 minutes and we found the first one let's try again they were sitting right off the edge of the lift where it starts to get darker there so it's only about like 1 and 1/2 2 ft right there and it looked like there was more than one fish once I hooked to that first one oh I just got swiped at I don't know if you saw that there's a little Flash from something I don't know if that was a snook or a Jack it'd be cool to encounter some Jacks today I also have my Bait Bucket in my cast net so if the artificial bite really slows down then I'll have to try and catch some bait that we could use for some fish as well but the snook are in pre-spawn mode now so a lot of them should be pretty aggressive and and if we're lucky we might be able to get all of our fish on artificials today so I like to keep my rod TI down when I'm working this little shrimp oh there was one oh there he is again that fish came at it twice and I think it's a little Jack there we go let go of the plastic buddy sweet so when I make the cast I like to let it sink for like a solid 10 count or so and then I'll keep my rod tip down and then I'll start just giving it little Twitches like that oh I lost them dang that that was a good fish they're loving this power prawn right now and then like I was saying once I get it down you know after a 10 count I just start giving it those little Twitches or jigs to make it look like it's injured or trying to flee away and get out of this ripping current and I think these fish can't resist it it just looks too natural especially with this clear red gold and silver flake Flash in there it kind of like Blends in with the color of the water because it's a little translucent and it it looks like a shrimp that's trying to blend in with it its environment but it has a little bit of that flash in there to kind of catch the fish's eye and they nail it there he is is I think we got another little Jack there we go Fish number three for me today so far it' be nice to get a few more snook here but maybe they uh smartened up after I got one of them this sand bar is looking pretty good we've got like a back current here and then out there there's still the main current flow I'm kind of tempted to walk out there and uh try and hit on the edge of it it might be kind of good there's got to be something off these rocks here though so we'll try this first there he is fish on oh I lost them fish off all right no other bites here although I took like two or three dozen more casts so let's keep moving down all right let's head along the ocean beach here now and uh it's starting to get like slack low inside the inlet there and when the tide switches and starts to come in it's going to sweep along the beach here first and then hit the rocks and and go around so it's probably best to start just hitting along here first there should be some snook in this discolored water close to the beach here oh there he is oh he popped off dang why am I losing him the hook is razor sharp that was like in 3 in of water that snook falled it in and crushed it right here it was a real little one though probably only like 12 13 in there's another look at that back to back casts sweet not a giant but there's probably some larger ones along the beach here we just got to find them all right not bad that's fish number four and once this tide gets going and starts coming in I think the bite will get even better I think I just got swirled on let's try casting right back in there come on come on come on come on eat it there he is I wasn't crazy woo I thought I saw him take a swipe at it the first time there we go where's your mama little guy all right fish number five we're putting together a decent catch of quantity we really just have to find at least one or two decent fish today though that would be nice even if I lose them I I would just like to see them at least a lot of these little uh male snook are probably down here because of they're kind of in like pre-spawn mode so they're always the first fish to show up in an area where eventually the bigger females will show up and then they'll breed you know throughout the summer but we got a beautiful day still catching a few fish so I'm happy and I hope you guys are enjoying and this setup that I started out fishing with today is the Dark Matter fishaholic 7 fo6 medium fast action spinning rod paired with with a 4,000 for gate and I've got 15 lb braid on here and again I'm using a 25 lb floc carbon leader and of course if we get anything like 25 in in up it's going to be a real fun fight with a light tackle inshore setup like this oh had a follower let's throw it right back in there see if he hits it the second time oh there was a little bit bigger snook that hit it but missed the hook I saw him he looked like he was about 25 in let's see if I can snag that bag that's there oh yeah look at that catcho cleaning the oceans one step at a time there's another one fish number six oh fish on is that a Lady Fish I did not expect that but that's fish number seven good shark bait if I had the shark rod there's another fish woo it feels pretty decent whatever it is oh another little Jack fish number eight for today we're starting to get some incoming current pushing around the rocks which is nice oh another bik jeez I saw him hit it right there in like 5 in of water but he didn't get the hook oh another bite they are stacked they must all be really really tiny fish I hope that we can find at least one like 25 to like 30 in oh what I got broken off there or cut off I'm out of those uh weighted weedless screw lock hooks so I'm going to try this uh football head jig head with a J hook all right here we go there's another woo this little guy gave me a hard run there he goes this is super fun so it's kind of hard to leave these fish that are here because I'm getting them consistently I would say like every 5 to six cast I'm getting a bite there's another woo this guy choked it let's get this guy back quick there he goes there he is W this fish is Griffin I wonder if it's a snook or it could be a Bluefish I don't know it's a snook probably the biggest snook of the day all right not bad a nice chunky Sandy Snook oh another little snook right next to the jetti oh my God look at him tail walking look at him go what are you doing buddy crazy little little snook probably the first time he's ever been caught that's a very clean fish let's go try up on the jetty now there has to be some better fish up here oh there's a nicer one oh God he's on the Rock he's on the Rock I got to get down there oh he's not that much bigger but he's a little thicker woo all right now we're kind of getting somewhere all right let's get a new power prom on [Music] here little a little tip for you guys when I'm rigging it on a j-hook jig head like this I'm actually kind of rigging the the shrimp upside down you see how it has that little cavity right there and I do that because I just find that uh the tail has a little more action when rigged like that versus right side up you know it doesn't have that cavity because that cavity is in there for when you're fishing this weed list like we were earlier but on a J hook J guide like this you could fish it either way and it doesn't really matter unless you want a little more action then this is the ticket there's another one oh that's a better one oh he just popped off there dang it I got him to eat right at the edge of the Rocks he's maybe like one or two Ines bigger than that last one I got a fish bite to bite right here let's see if we can nail one right here again we real quick the water's so dirty which is perfect actually as long as the L doesn't get weeded up there's a chance that we could trick a fish to eat oh there is one all right let's try casting around the Rapa now maybe we'll get a bigger fish with this oh we got a micro snook on the rapola staying consistent there a bunch of fish right here in the sh ows there he is got him woo I was starting to work my way back and I just sight casted oh a decent snook right right in here in like 4 in of water but he threw the hook check this out guys little juvenile nurse shark just cruising by look at all this plastic trash I just found it's crazy this must be like 400 lb monofilament oh there's a good fish woo what do I got here something better oh is it a blue fish I think it's a blue fish woo oh my God another blue fish look there's two Blues right here one on my hooks oh my God there's a whole school of them look at this there was a whole school of them nice awesome this actually might be our biggest fish of the day it would be pretty close between this and uh our largest snook there's been so many Bluefish around this year oh another hit oh god oh oh snook chased it oh you see that shadow that was a nice a nicer snook that almost hit it oh it's got nailed there he is woo found another Snook there he goes by the way you can find this Rapa on Salt's website if you check the link down in the description this uh color pattern and this size is by far my favorite like hardbodied jerk bait and Rapa to use down here in South Florida all right well I think that is going to bring this beautiful day and video to a close and I hope you all enjoyed it was uh more of a quantity day than quality and I think we were a little bit early for uh some of the big breeder pre-spawn uh snook to start making their way here to this spot and I think the smaller Buck males are definitely here that's why we caught so many fish that were around like 18 to probably 24 in and I still had a blast doing it with the light tackle and again if you want to check out any of the salt strong products that I use today I'll just put a bunch of links down in the description so you can check them out and hopefully uh get some for yourself and also get out there and catch some fish and I hope to see you all in the next episode so please smash that subscribe button down below if you enjoyed and also hit that like button comment down below um any kind of content that you want to see in the future and uh until the next episode like always live to fish fish to live
