Let's Play: Paper Mario The Origami King - The Earth Vellumental

hey everybody what's happening i'm ryan we're playing paper mario the origami king and we are inside the earth velumental temple let's go see what this is all about so last time we we found the other two stones and we worked our way to this point wait it's just a big empty hole how disappointing where's the earth value mental we've come so far to see you hold on what's that oh oh that ain't good mario that was a long way down oh she looks sad so i'm not the best judge of footing as we've just learned sorry mario i teach you how to float if i could anyway i was looking down at this odd green spot before you fell down what do you think it is i think it's the earth valumental that's my opinion and yep there it is oh he it does not look happy look at those teeth okay it's the earth volumental and it's made of origami [Music] eek it's so cool don't think it's supposed to be made of origami oh no i don't think it's very friendly right now maybe because it got all folded up when it's like this i'm afraid we might have no choice but to fight it well uh that's something [Music] all right if i remember right his tail is his weakness wow this valuamental looks just as powerful as i hoped it would that shell looks super sturdy its body must be well protected makes those little legs look kind of vulnerable doesn't it use the arrows oh hey this is our first boss battle i've been itching to try one of these the earth valumental is in the center this time your attacks won't reach from way out here you have to get closer but it looks like something weird has happened to the rings and what's up with those arrows scattered all over should we follow them let's give it a shot if my hunch is right we'll need to start with the start let's try to place one of the arrows on the space in front of you [Music] looks like you can select and move the rings just like regular battles select the outer ring so we can place this arrow under the red circle on your starting space okay bingo that's the ring now rotate it until the arrow is under this red circle and our first move will be in place [Music] i see what's going on here yeah my hunch was right okay so once you step on an arrow you will keep moving in that direction until you step on another arrow if we keep that in mind we'll be able to create a path that puts us right in front of the earth volume mental oh the arrows are already leading us to the earth valuemental i guess getting to the right spot is only half the job what's next oh that panel must be your way to attack try placing that action panel under the red circle and see what happens okay that's it now spin the ring and place that action panel under the red circle way to go mario you made it to the earth vegemental now it's time to attack let's see different attacks are probably going to affect different areas try to aim your attack at an area where it won't bounce right off let's try a hammer [Music] i imagine that would hurt his foot aha yes you would have bounced right off that hard shell but attacking its legs seemed to be pretty effective oh no i think the earthvalumental is winding up for an attack try to guard against it at the right time press a just before the attack hits the guard ah here it comes oh i wasn't ready for that that's it mario you still took some damage but it could have been a lot worse yikes okay what's next what's next why not aim for his right front leg just line up the arrows and place the action panel under the red circle that outer ring probably goes over there then the inner one uh i'm already lost i'll leave this one up to you mario okay so jeez if i go there yikes ah i don't know how i'm gonna do this no that ain't it that was totally useless well not totally oh nice try give it another shot okay thank you so much i didn't notice i had two um two rings to move just line up the arrows and place a yeah yeah the outer ring probably goes over there then the inner one then bloody bloody blob i'm already lost okay so i've only got two i definitely need to move an outer ring and one inner ring so no no [Music] i do how many tries do i get she just says the same thing over and over again uh [Music] gosh i am just not seeing this [Music] okay [Music] no i want to undo [Music] oh hey here we go here we go that'll do that'll do man nicely done mario next choose an attack i do not know why that is just so hard on my brain [Music] nice yeah just like that alright use the arrows looks like you've got the hang of boss battles huh remember to think about timing and targeting your attacks try those those other panels look interesting too you should see what happens when you walk over them now let's go win us a boss fight mario i'd love to but man i've got three ring moves i need to let's see there's a health there i can just put that right in front of me what will that do there's no way [Music] that i can do this [Music] oh i've got two ring moves i'm just not seeing it it's okay stay calm focus on the arrows that's your advice with one second left [Music] yikes you need to place an arrow panel in front of you maro if you don't you'll trip on your first step really uh good to know [Music] okay [Music] where do i go up [Music] just i'm not seeing a way to do this [Music] oh that led me nowhere oof big oof i lost track of yeah i am not doing good i definitely lost track of the uh ring moves can pay the snot out of these guys to help me ooh check it out mario the toads just revealed all kinds of cool stuff wow are those dots on the ground showing us where our current path will take us and that triangle must be showing us where we'll end up go toads um okay i'm actually gonna move that there because i need the health here we go nice okay i think i'm starting to get the hang of this sorry i'm not i'm not talking so much because i have to focus so hard oh that was close [Music] okay so first things first definitely want to attack its tail and its back left foot only thing i am seeing is to go there um and i can throw a couple of things in the way that i can pick up there we go i don't know if it's like giving me a little the earth volume mental shell is super sturdy jump attacks will always bounce right off of it and for its exposed limbs instead get up close and personal with your hammer i knew that oh that would have been handy okay here we go [Music] any more hearts i don't know how he is able to jump up like that all right tail time and if i go that way [Music] go up there yeah i think this is a good path think [Music] there i made it it wasn't it wasn't necessarily the best path but it was definitely functional and that is what i needed [Music] oh he's a shell now whoa its tail must be super tender whoa what was that whoa what's up with the earth valumental its legs are tucked inside this might be our chance to try a cool move like what oh is that it is it's a 1000 fold arms magic circle if you can get that magic circle i can activate the 1 000 fold arms it probably works the same way as action panels so you should pr try to place it at the end of your route okay good to know good to know are there any hearts there are so we want that there uh nothing useful there except for that coin and i could use the heart [Applause] [Music] magic circle on this is gonna be epic now mario give it all you've got wait let me say one quick thing be aware of your surroundings and please don't shake your controller too wildly nice that was so cool [Music] yes you did it mario oh that was tough [Music] it totally flips the whole battle on its head really messes with my head i had quite a few big oofs in there so i apologize that was probably super painful to watch a book huh did it just shrink down into something tiny earth bibliofold did you somehow turn the earth value mental into a book mario oh it's instructions for folding into the earth valuemental itself oh maybe this is its way of helping us let's see ah yes a mountain fold here a valley fold there whoa i just have this strange feeling like the spirit of the earth value mental is inside me [Music] what ah maybe we should try using that magic circle valumental power i love new powers [Music] what what what is happening she she's turning into the earth volume that is interesting and somehow she got really huge from being so tiny how do i look powerful imposing magnificent maybe even a little cute it's like i'm the earth valumental he's clapping i definitely feel powerful like i could really shake things up in here alright you know what i'm gonna dance it out go olivia go olivia go olivia i love the pom-poms it's so great great dance moves great dance moves mario's dancing along with her that's [Applause] great oh and now she's back to her usual self what came over me it was so fun to wield all of that turtle power i guess i can use any magic circle that belongs to the earth value mental now hey that means i should be able to lower the tower back to a reasonable but still scary height reasonable but still scary oh is this a hole what the is it i don't know why this is here it feels like it should be something i can fill or hammer or something oh well let's jump in this tube if i can oh my gosh that was way harder than it should have been to just get on top of hey didn't anyone ever teach you not to step on the gods you step on our god you get a divine punishment hey i'm worshiping here okay okay i'm sorry i'm not checking that although where there was um was this no there was a toad that turned into a bug oh there it is there it is [Music] ah i was just getting the hang of being a bug had a great little hiding spot picked out to freak out the next pilgrim whoa i'm not a coin so now i can't see the pretty lights anymore oh he's got shades on he must be cool thanks again for rescuing me mario i don't suppose you'd be able to rescue the rescue rest of my crew i'm sure they're using this divine miracle as an excuse to shirk wait there's more popcorn popcorn get your fresh popcorn just 100 coins a bag i'll see what that's about coming right up there's toads inside [Laughter] corn we popped all the corn pal sorry well geez wanna buy a fortune why not oh i get excited every time what's it gonna be probably a wrinkled up toad get ready here it comes great fortune you will feel a rush of good health oh nice fun funky and functional you want accessories we've got accessories oh wow can i buy them all time plus [Music] gives you extra time to arrange enemies once battle starts i could use that for accessories to be effective you have to equip them in the accessories section of the plus menu there's a limit to how many you can equip at once so think carefully i'm just gonna buy them all i got tons of coins i like that it's a shell reduces the amount of damage you take in battle a little bit thank you kindly heart plus raises your hp a little bit during battle only during battle toad alert yeah i'm buying that makes a sound when a toad near you is in trouble and that's it we're sold out don't worry we'll restock in a bit oh and don't forget to equip your accessories in the plus menu i'm gonna do just that [Music] so is it that i can attach one thing in each column i guess we'll find out [Music] eventually um apparently there's a toad in trouble get ready here comes a boring blessing at least it's not a bad one [Music] well maybe i ought to take my own advice and equip some of them flashy accessories what do you have to say welcome back to the earth value mental temple we're back that bell's really going to help me out here rattle rattled ro rattle i keep knocking on the rock for a good luck but my luck's still in the rocks does nothing i'm hoping that my fingernails will glor grow into glorious formidable claws like the earth valumental i already what oh i can almost feel the power surging beneath my feet like some of these are different colors [Music] and it says the same thing as last time [Music] see i don't know where that toad is you get right here and it rings so it kind of tells me that it's around here somewhere but i'm just not seeing it it's really bothering me it's bothering me a lot not gonna lie did that did that happen again no whoa almost leaped to my doom i didn't need it oh okay so don't go there usually you know that wouldn't let me fall off the ledge ah i don't wanna oof did not mean to do that i was just trying to avoid a battle that's all ouch didn't realize that i fall off like that okay stay on this one got to be patient ha missed me oh i didn't want to fall there okay this looks really suspicious like this little cutout thing but no nothing anything over here no knock knock i wish there was some form of like a button trigger no ring-a-ding oh geez you know i was so worried about that [Music] all for nothing [Music] nice nice i like this already actually i'll do it this way i'll do it this way all right here we go [Music] 14 yeah that does seem to be stronger than usual i haven't fought a regular battle till now nice it definitely seems stronger which is good i like stronger i don't know who wouldn't uh wave battle and i got hit i just wanted to avoid it [Music] what [Music] hey give that magic circle back you can't even use it if they won't give it back you'll just have to take it back mario okay so here's gonna be my strategy i am going to [Music] hammer these four because i don't know if i can jump on that or not [Music] that's interesting [Music] cool mario's riding her okay that lifted up that's interesting oh that was cool yeah i wanna i want that every battle every battle i want it [Music] oh why didn't that confetti fill the hole i feel like he should have oh cool we got a hundred percent on this that's that is excellent and we found rocks gotta get that rocks treasure i'm still missing at least one toad the whole thing is just frustrating no ah get down i was in too big of a hurry i need to be patient here we go here we go i don't need you to be patient here you need to be patient right here not this time it's this time right here right here here we go no it's not i lied there we go here we go anything in this rock confetti you know i'm wandering through this entire cave so far not one bell ha dodged ya oh i was not intending to do exactly that good job me oh and that's why this battle is just so tough i'm gonna let the toads take care of this one for me [Music] they didn't do much yikes [Music] ah gosh i don't even know i don't know that there was a way for me to get it much better than that man [Music] which is going to take the most enemies out [Music] [Music] i have no idea i am entirely guessing this was probably bad yeah it wasn't great [Music] ha blocked it [Music] locked it okay th this should be at least slightly easier i've got three moves okay i can move those like that those there [Music] man i don't know how effective running away is otherwise i'd give it a shot on a battle like that one i'm nervous about you know dying like crazy if i do and it doesn't work you know we're still not seeing any form of a bell going off for a toad so that is kind of suggesting that there were two near the beginning and that was it can make it oh that was close i don't think the thing is there so i don't got to worry about that yeah i already took care of this oh but now there's a there's a folded soldier see if i can sneak by him without getting noticed man is he's low the very slowest i can go is faster than he goes ha snuck right by him all that not a single toad i don't know that i'm gonna find any well i didn't get hit so that's good [Music] ah they moved them all around to mess with my brain which is super effective by the way here we go all right one more one more nice i'd say at least i got a bunch of confetti out of it but really it's more i got some coins i don't know where the platform is there it is there we go there we go wait for it wish there was some form of a consistent pattern to that that that i could see obviously there is probably a pattern i just did not see it they're all quietly worshiping the little turtle okay see that's what i'm talking about like where is this turtle or toad ah he was in one of the lights i just wanted to see the earth value mental now i've heard that recording more than 400 times it gets better every time there now i got all the toads goodness man that took a really really long time just to find that one toad all right what do you got to say now you saved the entire crew now we can get to work maximizing profit off this whole thing it's a miracle why did it ring [Music] sir welcome [Music] shiny boots shiny hammer shelvation is near well i might as well buy that maybe 2400 coins i had to buy one of the collectible treasures you want that one why would you want that one if you want it it might be valuable and therefore it's not for sale i see i didn't see it before i see it now you were thinking about using me when you thought i was a mushroom weren't you admit it i was thinking about it i'm free now i can finally shop ha i'm free okay i don't know where this one is but
