Learn Best SCARY Magic/Mentalism trick - Easy Tutorial - Revealed

hey guys Spidey here and this week I'm going to teach you my absolute favorite mentalism party trip and at the end of this video I'm gonna do a contest to give you guys some amazing magic for free so if you're ready to blow some minds and amaze your friends you've come for the right video [Music] welcome back everyone and I got to tell you I am so excited that Halloween is here Halloween is upon us Halloween is my favorite time of year because it's the time where I can really do my favorite kind of mentalism spooky kind of freaky scary presentation driven mentalism and today we're gonna learn my favorite trick that I do at parties from that realm it's so different than any other trick you know it feels so real it just feels like something real and super creepy is happening now be careful with this because a lot of people actually have beliefs in this kind of thing so make sure that like me when you present this it's very clear that it's theatrics and trickery and things like that and none of this is real it's very important to me anyways we're gonna learn the trick we're gonna learn a whole bunch of variations because there's a ton of variations with this some of them are more elaborate but really more deceptive some of them are as simple as grabbing two pieces of paper and you're good to go we're gonna go through all the variations so you could find what suits you best and you'll be able to perform this now before we get into this I want you to see the performance of my favorite version so the version you're about to see is my favorite version check it out we're gonna try something guys in the spirit of Halloween we're gonna try to channel some spirits try to contact some spirits we're gonna ask the spirits some questions so what you each to think of a question right now in your mind about your future something that you've been wondering about or maybe an ambition now it could be something coming up soon something in the far future it could be involving you could be involving some well stored and think of a question you would like the spirits that answer for you Jodie we're gonna start with you I'm gonna hand you this piece of paper and the pen when you believe so that neither me or Josh can see at all what you're writing down you can write down your question into the circle then fold the paper in half like this there's that there's that go away go far away so we can't see you good okay I will take that make sure there's no why I can see that I'll give it an extra fold like this as anyone can see in there perfect so now we're going to send the information to the spirit world and to do that what you do is you take paper and you tear it up and you send it to the spirits like that now you're gonna do the same I'm gonna hand you this piece of paper and you're gonna go off over there and use the pen thank you yeah but and you're gonna write down your question as well and when you're done fold the paper in half and bring it back great again make sure there's no way I can see what's in there I'll do that too can't see in there courtesy of that I will tear this up as well same as before and I want you to see me sending all those it to the company and then sending it to the spirits to send something to the spirits all you got to do is destroy it you can see a burning in there that's where you can see a burning in them so by burning the questions we send them off to the spirit world and the answers come back and the answers come back in very strange ways here's what we're gonna try but you're gonna each try to channel the spirits to answer each other's questions I know it sounds weird let me walk you through this in a moment one other time we'll start with Josh you're gonna close your eyes and now you don't know Jody's questions we're gonna let the spirits to sort of guide you whatever you say I first it might be on big news you might get an image or like a symbol doesn't matter just go with what you feel go ahead just focus again like technology I guess it's sort of like there's but there's two does that make sense yeah yeah yeah yeah anything more do you want to I mean like I heard like music like it was like it was like ringing yes ringing yeah I was like really like I just heard it going for a while what does that make sense ringing you're hearing ringing what was your question that's your question Oh [Laughter] that's what you wrote that Apple or Android yeah Wow dude that's dope hey yeah did you tell you know and let's try let's try the river it's Geordie go ahead and focus on do the same close your eyes if you're getting any information like what any ideas images with what's happening what do you see does that make sense so you saw what I wrote no why except design master quiet like he's mean I like I asked about my vacation request dude I believe the spirits have spoken no but like you told him don't so I'm sure you could see how powerful that effect would be on people I mean two people are contacting the spirits to reveal answers the questions they didn't know and you as the Mentalist barely did anything so it's just so spooky and honestly gets the best reaction now before we actually learn this effect and what we're doing let's talk about what you need as I said there's a lot of different variations that I'm going to teach you all the different ways that you can do this but the most basic variation requires two pieces of paper and this could be anything I like to use blank business cards but you can use like you know loose leaf printing paper any paper works perfectly fine you also need a writing instrument pen pencil doesn't matter and for the basic routine that's it paper pencil good to go now before we get into this I am gonna say this for my favorite variation there's one more thing you're gonna need that I want to talk about right now that thing is a Confederate or a friend who's in on the trick in my case it was Josh the guy sitting to my left now this doesn't have to be a magician at all this just has to be a friend that you trust who's gonna help you with one very important thing in fact I have three or four different non magician friends who know what it is they're supposed to do so at a moment's notice wherever I'm with any of them I can do this trick but before we talk about any of that let's talk about the technique that you're going to use to make this trip possible whether you're using a Confederate or you're doing this alone it's called the center down the center tear is a really old mentalism principle now it's been improved over the years in a million different ways but for this all you need is the basic basic center tear now I'm going to teach you guys what that looks like and I'm going to do this pretty quickly because I want to spend too much time on this but if you want to see a really slow and in detail close-up instructional of this in the district in the description I'll put a link and I'll do another video for those of you who really want to get all the details you guys go down there and click that and I'm gonna walk you through this really slow but in essence the center tear is this if you have a circle in the middle of a piece of paper and you fold that piece of paper twice once and twice that circle that was in the middle is now entirely here in this corner all the information is right there what that means is that if I pinch that corner and tear it down this paper at about like a third tear it down keep that piece of paper towards myself the one with the question on it so the left hand goes in front right hand towards me I tear that big piece again like this again the right hand stays towards me that left hand stuff goes in front then I rotate the whole thing clockwise and I tear a little off center a little further to my left like this I can now drop all these pieces of paper and my thumb could slide that back piece that's where the question is into my fingers so basically like this pull it right there into my fingers here and I can secretly keep that question although it looks like I tore it all up I can drop these pieces now and I've kept that little piece hidden over here curled in my fingers and that would contain the entire question as you can see the whole circle is now there okay so now that we've learned the center terror let's go through the basic basic routine this is the version works just you and a bunch of people you don't know here's what you do you get two pieces of paper and in the middle of them you draw a circle and these are going to go either in your pocket or on the table totally up to you try to work with different ways and see what you're comfortable with now you have a group of people around you you're gonna say we're gonna try something really weird you're gonna pick someone for this who kind of looks like a very creative type because this is gonna work a lot better with someone who could really get super imaginative so I like to look for people with piercings tattoos you know funky color hair funky clothes someone who looks creative so you get that person you sit them down and you say you want them to think of a question that they would want the spirits to answer something they don't know the answer do something about their future anything at all that they would like to be answered to once they have that you have them go to the corner you'll see go far away so nobody could see what you're writing down and on this piece of paper inside the circle you're gonna write down to your question so they go that and they write down I don't they write down for example will will I be successful at my new job now you tell them to fold it twice like this and you say to do that all over there you can even yell at them across the room you write well the bullet fold it twice and they fold it now they bring you this back so now you're gonna perform the center cap so you're gonna tear tear tear you're gonna drop these pieces onto the table this is for the basic routine of course you've stolen that piece in your end and all you can relax cuz you've got don't be stressed here don't trip out be relaxed it's a piece of paper no one's gonna see it and besides you're immediately gonna hide it here's how you're gonna go grab that other paper whether it's in your pocket or whether it's right on the table I like to have it on the table you're gonna grab that other tape paper and as your head turns up you're just gonna drop it right on top like this that little piece that you stole so this is a little piece that I stole their question and this is just gonna go BAM right on top like this I say I'm gonna go into the corner and I myself I'm gonna write down with a question now if you want to practice you can also do this you could also use that to pinch and come up like this so you can really have your hands like this because you put that piece in there if you want to practice that I think it's an additional cool little touch now you're walking to the corner now you're gonna write down a question you go off into the corner you take your pencil here's what you do in fact you take their question and you read it you simply read what it says then you don't write anything at all and you fold that paper inside your paper like this and now you come back you say I too have asked the spirits a question and we're gonna rip mine up as well so they're both ripped now on the table of course you never wrote anything this is just their question and a bunch of scraps you now say we're gonna answer we're going to channel the spirits to answer each other's questions so here's what you do at it from this point in time on it's just all acting kids what you do let's say their question was will I be successful at my new job here's what you don't want to do you don't want to go like this [Music] you will be successful at your new job you don't want to do that because it's blatantly obvious that you saw the question you want to make you look you're struggling like you have ideas but never directly answer of course they're gonna react everyone's gonna go nuts you can ask them if they're comfortable sharing their question and they might have like all my other as well success on my new job and everyone freaks out now they're gonna answer your question of course you don't have a question so you're gonna have to act like oh my god you're getting this right so they're gonna you gonna encourage them you're gonna say close your eyes and whatever you get colors ideas images go with what you feel and whatever they say you're gonna react but don't be like don't be like oh my god I want you to just sort of just like look at them and smile I'd be like this where your acting skill comes into play honestly and don't overdo it you're just like this is crazy unbelievable now here's where your quick thinking becomes kicks in because while you're listening to them answer you have to come up with a question you could have asked that that answer applies to so for example the last time I did this the person said I see red and I see a television screen and I'm like you're kidding I asked if I should sign up for Netflix right because Netflix is red and it's on a TV so it makes perfect sense one out of 50 times the person says all these crazy things and I can't really think of a question so I go that's unbelievable it was a very private question so I don't want to share it but honestly you have no idea how amazing what you just did is granted I don't like doing that I like to challenge myself to come up with a question that works now that is the basic routine as I said earlier I don't like doing the basic routine if I'm really stuck I might do it that way but let's talk about the things right now that will elevate this from a good trick to a freaking killer okay so the first thing you may have noticed in my performance earlier that I used is the Goblet now this is something that I use very often in spooky type shows if you're looking for something like this if you search on Amazon medieval or gothic goblet or cup or wineglass you'll find this very important you want one that's got the metal insert because you're gonna burn stuff in here if it's plastic on the inside you're gonna melt right through it don't do that the other thing I like to use that really facilitates the burning process is lighter fluid now this in performance I have with me but out there in the real world it's not really easy to find but let me show you why I like this once all those piece of paper are there and I give that a little squirt really not much I don't want to set the place on fire I drop a match in there and this is just a beautiful visual you're sending the information to the spirits and it just looks so good the other reason this is really great is because the paper is being destroyed nobody can then go and open the pieces to see what the questions were it doesn't often happen anyways but burning it makes it impossible for anyone to check it's gone now I did say earlier that this is my favorite party trait but I'm pretty sure that anyone who's ever been to a party knows that you can't show up with your gothic goblet and your lighter fluid like hey guys wanna see a trick it's just so bizarre you can't do that so here's a couple of things that could replace those props if you like that version one of them is any cup any glass any mug I like wine glasses for them where you're gonna put the papers there's something so elegant and beautiful about a wine glass like they could see right into it I don't know I really like to use wine glasses but pretty much any cup that's not plastic works okay so now let's talk about the most important variant the most important thing that I'm gonna add to this to make it a miracle whether I'm doing the goblet the wine glass the ashtray the fire the lighter fluid doesn't matter the most important thing for me is that Confederate so who's this Confederate once again is the friend who you trust it doesn't have to be a magician but pick someone outgoing fun kind of with a kind of bit of a crazy personality that really helps I have four friends that are always ready to do this what is your friend do basically you just teach them the trick and teach them your part and it's quite simple to act because nobody's gonna suspect much in fact I always tell my Confederate now while this is happening it really helps little psychological tip for them to accuse the other person of being in on it it's like reverse psychology what what I often tell them to do is say something like okay where are we what did I tell you when I walked away or something like well you guys who saw my question like kind of make it seem like we're all in this against him because if he says that no one's gonna think that he was the one in on it that's what I found personally doesn't have to do it just a quick
