training and we're just about to get placed before i show you the video i wanted to show you this just a month or two ago they were blasting out hiring event advertisements are walk-ins welcome yes can i be interviewed on the spot yes so that's that's the context here anyways so i'll just read it as a company continues to seek ways to improve and serve our customers better we're making some organizational changes within the home improvement business after careful and extensive review of all options the company has made the very difficult decision to eliminate some positions across the home improvement business he starts the video off by saying i'll just read it which he's just going through the motions and if you take a minute and look at everyone else on the video call like the people who aren't being fired responding to emails texting their family and friends yeah i gotta get through this layoff meeting and then i'll be home for the holidays honey okay there's a special place in hell for these sorts of people who have no reaction to watching a bunch of people being let go it's just so routine and like it's it's honestly really sad unfortunately your position has been among those selected for elimination while we recognize that this is in from this information is difficult to hear do you see what i mean like we have it's literally dave down here in accounting he's was uh you know just part of what they did and that's why you had uh you were having those issues the deflection the deflect so hard that was not us okay that was i.t just doing their job they were just taking orders okay please see appendix a like jeez this morning where you got kicked off of the system so they did that this is unbelievable we just spent three weeks training for this busting our asses basically for no money and you guys have the gall to leave to fire us the day before we're supposed to go in the house this is the most unbelievable thing i have ever heard we busted our asses for you guys a mistake number one busting your butt for a company that you think cares about you which the companies make it seem like they do care about you and they say that but then they drop this bombshell on you and then it goes back to the whole you have to give us two weeks if you want to quit but we can do this to you we we committed to this company we were you were responsible for us see this is why loyalty doesn't exist and the entire time people behind closed doors are making decisions about what's going to happen to you without your knowledge as people will say you didn't have to work there and as i will say it's kind of hard to know that this is going to happen how i would want to put this the eloquent way i guess is don't be committed to your job be committed to the craft that enables you to do different jobs yes you might really like company and your co-workers and your friends but always be willing to just let that go because they'll use that against you i mean are you guys kidding me this is unbelievable this is so disrespectful that you just fired us all over zoom unbelievable did you just hear about the guy that fired all these employees over zoom i think that she's referencing better.com here and told them that that they are end of their termination today did you guys hear about him i have never treated a staff person like this and i have managed teams up to a thousand people you guys should be ashamed they have nothing to say for themselves this is a corporate decision i don't care david you could have done something you could have told us earlier you could have called us into the office you could have shown up at our homes to let us know this is going on instead of firing us via zoom we basically found out about an hour ago this is crap you guys we just found out an hour ago but here you go like no questioning no wait we're really going to do this to the team there wasn't a discussion that went on just here you go you're fired okay we'll take orders boss i didn't think dave would be scottish though that's interesting sears does this to us what does this say about your company i just spent three weeks learning how great sears is well guess what your company's story kind of sucks now dude that must feel so good for her to say oh you you should be ashamed of yourselves you should have called us directly each person i should have heard from don you guys should have their sales manager linda you should have called no you embarrassed us and humiliated us by putting us on zoom after our access to our computers were caught cut off and we knew we were fired anyway that is just a shitty management decision is this how much we you guys care about us after you just beat our ass for three weeks i spent all night studying i've been away from my family to do this so i want to know who's bringing my check and if not i'm filing a wage claim today and i'm calling my attorney today everything will be handled as we have been instructed and why does it have to be that way linda everything will be handled as we have been instructed why can't you question people why can't you question decisions like can't you question things it's not you know breaking the law by just questioning things stop being a robot have a brain so everything will be handled accordingly and i understand we've lost fellow colleagues we've worked with for many years and we've just been announced this and so we are also holding back so that that emotion and so we are yeah i mean i'm sure you are linda because you you still have job right where's that where's the empathy compassion and humanity here just communicate like people you're removing someone's paycheck yeah not the best form get it um a lot of heightened emotions that's happening right now as we were blindsided within this last hour so uh to say that we apologize is an under statement um but there will be actions that are taken accordingly she confirms what i said at the beginning right people at the top were making decisions behind closed doors and passed that decision down and then you have to pay that price even though the entire time again you've been under the impression that they would never let you go and that they're your family okay well if i don't see my last paycheck in my hand by close a business i'm filing a complaint you guys handled this terribly you should have had our checks and hands we should have gotten cobra information about our health care we should have gotten release papers by now that is the law so when is my stuff coming linda you have a job when is my stuff coming i'll know as soon as i know blake do you know how many jobs i passed up for this one as i know i don't even know what my position is at this point in time right you got a job linda no you won't know and uh everyone will be wow see nothing to say nothing to say when you call them out you still have a job right easy for you to say huh i know heightened the most shut up linda you know communicated accordingly um as instructed jim has heard the statement so everybody understands what has taken place and um that's what we can say at this point i would never treat my staff this way i've had to let people go and i treated them with courtesy and respect and i did not humiliate them like i i understand your position uh and this is not our decision isn't that just the saddest thing it was just not my decision i don't know what to tell you just taking orders i i get sometimes you have to do what you have to do or else they take your livelihood too right because if you disagree with the higher ups guess what you you you have also been included in that group that has been now promoted to customer but also you can say more than huh don't blame me this is not a company that i will ever let into my home i'm going to end this call right now because i am so frustrated and i have nothing to say to anyone except you're mean you're unprofessional and none of you care about us goodbye goodbye good riddance [ __ ] ass you're just the the perfect cut right there the perfect cut i thought that was the best a shout out to the person who filmed this video i'm sure it felt good to get that all off your chest uh businesses are allowed to do this and they will tell you the entire time that they won't do this don't buy into it don't be that committed don't be that loyal be committed to your craft not the job you know i mean it's okay to like do a little extra now and then i guess if you want but if it starts to become a habit you know you should get rewarded for that in compensation vacation time extra benefits something it's got to go both ways can't be one way the the only benefit of you doing great work at your job is keeping your job then there's just move on to something else who will appreciate that and reward you for it but yeah i'm sorry that this happened i really i thought i understood the context of this video but i'm not sure how many people in that video were getting fired or if it was just her requesting a video call and all those people are business hr people again hopefully this has been a learning lesson share it if
