[Music] you good afternoon ladies and gentlemen once again we'd like to welcome you back to the 18th annual Derby City Classic we're in day number 6 of the nine-day event we're in the middle of the went pocket we started with approximately 400 of the world's greatest one pocket players there's approximately 40 or 50 gentlemen still left in the tournament at this time we'd like to get our feature match up for this time frame under way our first gentleman is player representative for predator cues sponsored on tour by Diamond bigger products he's currently marketing a several videos called power one pocket they're available at the Divini custom qs booth ladies and gentlemen a former winner of the US Open one pocket championships the Derby City one pocket championships and the legends of one pocket title please welcome from Phoenix Arizona known as the freezer mr. Efrain Reyes thank you mark again soon at you welcome pool fans to the Derby City classic one pocket championship these matches have been great so far and now it gets better Efrain reigns versus Scott frost tactical excellence versus power one pocket Danny deals Alberto here alongside me Marc Wilson and Danny any pre-match comments well this could very easily be a final match but the way to draw is you know a lot of chance involved and it's not a board where if you win you know who you play next they draw again every round that's the difference but in this match it's a toss-up Scott won the leg which is all-important in a race to three because in case you're tying in the final game you get the break in the break in one pocket is bigger than any other pool game break Scott is very proud of his one pocket game and has long been regarded as the Li top one pocket player in the United States he's worked very hard on this game over the last year and he's moved his grip hand back on the Qt reclaimed some power and I really admire his willingness to be a better player me tell you folks that was not a good break because Efrain has a bank ft 11 and if he makes it we liable to see a tan out on the other guys break he could Stephanus and I believe fall on the 2 ball tell me Jenny Paul hung up you know now Scott is gonna have to give him that rail first I believe and I think it won't hurt him to go all the way down to the end rail let's got generally not a fan of a passive response usually tries to do something more in this case there's nothing more than he determined the value enough to be aggressive with he tried to put heparin on side of the pile I like distance there but that's a matter of choice then whoever you're playing Ephron's gonna try to put him on the other side of the rack didn't want to go close cause balls go but this is good enough I mean Efrain doesn't have a a threat you know ball that goes Scott right now can do aggressive things and doesn't have to worry about giving up a shot the one banks so in one packet if you have no shot at all get a ball on your side even if it's way upstream like this but Scott's not gonna leave it there yeah he was practicing the two rail kick good shot different surveys the table uncertain about anything offensive here he's gonna kick out you to mark hey I think he so far he's not but I like kicking that too - oh boy well you got a ball over there on this side that Scott's gonna have to guard against I like kicking that the poor here I think he can do damage kicking that the poor but he doesn't he's looking at billiard didn't one end but I like kicking at the poor Scott knows all the shots he sure does man he knows the end game so this'll be a heck of a tussle here I'm surprised he didn't kick out the poor but well he moved the rack open put a couple balls on the side controlled the kilo very well Efrain doesn't have much aggressive here yeah over the years I've learned better than the say Aaron doesn't have much here because he makes so many things happen from nowhere looks like he's gonna try to bank the three cushions that's close that's close it might be real close it's close that's why I don't like to say but then the magician tell you some you know he's a three cushion player two and three cushion comes up a lot in one pocket and that was an incident good speed I mean if it didn't go it was gonna be near to partner to pocket anyway is he looking at the seven he is but he knows the one balls down there and that's gonna be problematic well I think he'll hit the one pretty fall I think he can shoot to seven here we go he does - he's jacked up Oh get real well but well he know he wasn't trying to make this is what he was playing he was making sure the cue ball lined up by test now the sevens over by his pocket it's got his blocked with the - he's gonna try to draw into the one billiard the one is that the idea bank the tonight I don't care for this I mean you know word is it - going I don't I mean okay sold out another look at efference three-rail shot here momentarily oh it was in all the way Efrain has the two but it's hard to escape the end rail there yeah I don't think you should get to another ball you went real first to try to get a little something well you could Bank the one but it doesn't have to go but you can knock it over there on your side in the in the pocket I mean the balls will snooker Scott from the hitting it I think you over cut it get it on your side few walls going towards the for I like that shot effort what would not object he might do something even a bit aggressive and tend to come back into the stack with that same shot rather than go down by the four he might come back at the six no went down by the four didn't want to leave the 7 ball bank though the one wasn't a good bank but look what it did Scott has to guard against that this guy he's gonna kick at this this is a one pocket specialist type shot real first bank to the one towards your pocket you might make it sitting that good you see where could come close to making hit a little bit too thin I think he's got a three well or at the four see it though yeah it is along the rail oh he's shooting at the 11 the 11 might have a pocket that might it does yeah 13 bolt and they shot now you might have yourself again Danny that's a little different oh no the last time it was shoot straight out and stick but now it's got a little cut to it he doesn't have that he's got a three ball combination that's what he had and again Scott has to defend that fall sitting in reference pocket I don't this time he can't kick and hit it the Reyes is applying some pressure you know he's gonna take away that all-important break it's got places as a tip out there as if to say if I put the cue ball right here what can he do actually you're gonna think about you gotta think about what your player is gonna do after you shoot I don't know what this is but I don't think Scott's gonna like it he shot at the ball yeah efforts gonna have carte blanche here he can you make the four to the Baker 1515 mr. 15 yeah it doesn't have to shoes that you know because if he doesn't make it Scott's gonna remove everything right he wouldn't mind getting the cue ball I mean I think this is almost a shot where he would rather play the cue ball down below the one in six right but that's not easy to get it there either but he tried to go forward but like I said now Scott head can remove this eyeball take a trail first kick it away clipped a lot of balls there and we know he wasn't intending that so yeah he's gonna hit rail first and like the vibe on his side hit the cue ball low so you don't lose it enormous audience here to watch Scott frost a nephron race battle it out race to three one pocket well I say it all the time when Efrain plays everybody fills the stands they figured they got something to learn what Efrain little frosty - well I would say Efrain knows a little more than Scott pretty good shot yep from where he was that he had to shoot at the cue ball upstream in the momentum of the mast didn't wanna let it go there but I had to retain just enough left spin feather into the five God does not have an aggressive shot he's losing for nothing first game that he broke right Ephron's mindfulness gots backs against the wall he would like to shoot at something so he trying to figure a way to shoot before it's not free for sure well with the way no he's trying to figure a way to shoot something might be to railing the 10 yeah that's a good shot pretty good control too you know he couldn't hit it hard enough because it would have been tough to control the cue ball alright he wanted to defend the 5 and get the 10 on this side and the priority there was cue ball control as opposed to put in the 10 close to his pocket reference got a to rail around the floor and I think he can draw it back behind 5 and 1 well he had d8 with the same shot and that's what easier to get the cue ball back in there very nice shot super one pocket shot Scott's dying to shoot ideas ok this got may take a chance on the 4 here and just try to get the cue ball laid over against the long rail I think an way that 15 ball well you know he wants to shoot he does want to shoot you know he's stuck three in a row that's more than he right limits himself to well I don't know what these I don't like shooting this but he has no choice the only good thing about this is making it nothing else good can happen he might have made it a little bit ahead he made her didn't he ducked Frost dr. Hemmings Egan play positioned in Lester's debt combination here well with sort of misfortunate that he didn't get some kind of a shot he was just trying to get the cue ball over here we're effort wouldn't have an easy eight ball he did what he managed to do anything else would have been bonus he's looking at the combination and Scott Smith is looking to see if it's a foul you know the ball is not frozen so it could very easily be a foul look hit a three ball combination maybe even with a kiss off the one at the end just don't found the ball that's why he's elevating I don't like it I don't think some I don't think anything that can happen with the shot you made just slow roll rail first up under the a the Fiat at frozen you know kick the ball down lately good shot once again defending the five ball therefore tonight the trick of the cue ball underneath the five next to the one he's to railing the 12 on his side and he's trying to go behind those balls and he did that very good shot in between Scott's pocket and the one big shot if he hits that fourteen ball there Wow okay you went right to the packet smart boy yeah smarter play especially making it smarter plays than what I suggested [Applause] while you're being modest no I know I know that was the better to try to do both was just too taxing and with that big pocket there offered by the eight ball that was just go all out set the cue ball on the rail take your take your chances and for niche three I see one of them he's want to play the combination no he's decided to get that now you can go to tonight no the white paint the seventh here well he might be cutting the 14 and just you know I write and get the cue ball down there on scat near Scott's pocket these three good hit world-class yet yeah he's playing for one Andy you know it's gonna be a combination I believe I don't think the pipe goes past that seven ball that's yeah either way oh it does brace brace the Scott serve the game one definitely breaking here in Game two pretty interesting game cuz even when Reyes was ahead four to one the ball distribution was pretty equal both players had threats out there if Scout was to come up with one big shot there he could have run out that's renowned for long one pocket runs because he plays a lot of days where he gives up 16 to 4 or something like that and running 10 11 12 balls at a time here with all the time he's very comfortable and he's got that DVD out-power one pocket they have volumes 1 & 2 very interesting DVD look where preyas is breaking from he's little further out than usual but there's some question about the rack I don't know what that was about well Scott is correcting that now you generally break from off the rail like this when you think that the corner ball is going towards your opponent's pocket when you break from the parade you're right yeah and so is that I don't know if the corner ball is coming out you go closer to the middle of the table and break and there is the power left down the side of the rack that's allowing that ball to come out that broad balls doesn't get hit his fault more of a glance I don't know that effort has that in mind well that's just so-so breakage that was the fantastic was it no not a killer break frost now figures to go off the side of the pack and come down and bump the tin lightly yeah it gets that out good chat their friend may just rub the 10 lightly and put the cue ball three cushions around that's what he did couldn't control rather Scott couldn't see the ten but he's gonna be able to resident don't let him see the one either and he didn't I don't think he did but if he let him see the one he could bank this towards the balls and go three cushions behind these he's looking to see if that balls froze he's his to rail to ten note soft speed come underneath the six and ten that was just a get out of the inning chat nothing aggressive there oh can i Francie's 11 or the 15 that's the 12 that's pretty good shot you know good shot is right effort effort might consider even taking a file from here no I don't think it's necessary well well he says this is a pal well if he was thinking of a pal being a good shot and I agree cuz Efrain knows what he's doing whatever he does you know is the right way yeah if I'm was gonna get the best of that exchange down there he didn't figure is low percentage and no sense gambling too thoroughly in the rack he's got the ball kind of favoring his side of the table so it's worth one ball do you take Cuba out of trouble yeah you're better off playing the Gaiden nine to eight yeah good shot good logic good chat Frost he's gonna play to fishings on the one into the ten six said what he's doing no conservative he's just gonna try to put the cue ball back down there good shot good chat if it's not wedged in there quite as bad as he once was but still a good shot he's very near where he was yeah he's gonna put Scott back down where he was when I was selling out or without taking a scratch look stuck working the cue ball in here he's gonna come out of this with a slight bit the upper hand as far as redistributing the balls more to his liking well my friend doesn't wanna leave him the bank kicked a nine and he's not going to that's a very good shot there which be very good well all you can do is make the one on his side go behind balls good enough so we can see now that the Scout is doing this best that rearranged the break he's made most of each of these shots just a little sparring right now nobody's doing anything of grass out there getting out of their innings I hear something aggressive foul man but wait a minute oh he got away with it you know Scott always won and smiling now they're both going to 9 now no I don't know if he's gonna get there you know he promised broked around look at that that's speed well did you let him see that 12-play nificant hit for 12 cuz we get back it yeah he's determining that now I don't know from here now you my bank that's right at the seven it'd be a little careful about scratching in the corner oh it had good chat he put a little bit of left in English to stop the cue ball from flying around you know Scott would love to shoot at something but not to sell out very cautious not very nice so that that speed and that you know super important that we have a great table to play on to make rolling shots of that nature from that distance we are using a 60 second shot clock both players play pretty fast not likely that will be an issue Efrain goes rail first that way it doesn't gobble up much of the momentum of the mass here so he guess you'd soft and get the cue ball go clear down the table pretty heady billiards play right there you know Scott doesn't have much aggressive yeah how many times have you seen they roll the ball from nine feet away and that is not the epitome of power one pocket first got frost but Efrain has put him in those awkward circumstances where he's gonna define the power one pocket game that many players can do that this guy Frost Ephron's one of which so again he's nothing like this yes he is are you know where was the one what's that you lose one you know I thought it was a creep on out there though Wow yeah it's enough of the 6-2 just enough pace out of that so was it just shot well he could bandit 12 and go all the way upstream you know he's got this and really have any rats there would like to kick up the six knows he can only get one with that so that's not a terrific shot no it's not he's gonna paint it and try to smoke him oh he didn't quite get around no he's a boy he left at 12 yeah you know he gets it up there just another half a balls wit though that wasn't been a tremendous shot now Scott can hurt him yeah now we can see power one pocket yeah he's got a pretty easy man in position under seven or to six the ethics helps you know he either way six shoot the six try to hit well doesn't matter if he wants to get aggressive he can shoot seven going to the pile with some speed but he can go to the three here by the way which he did but he missed badly you know he missed badly you know Scott's not happy with that shot no he was reading better outcome than that I remember the last time Efrain played one pocket in the tournament here billion dollars saying that's how you beat that Pirin you leave him long but I've been double-crossed Amitabh all my friends got to long shots which one do you shoot yeah he just beat booth the money and output on the five by ten so it's not like he's cool so he's trying to go all out here shooting the two with a little speed probably yeah that's enough stat about Efrain leaving him long nine well day six of the Derby City he's been playing a lot of pool over these days so I don't think he can expect him to not be a stroke it's like he's got the nine ball here he does Lord he's gonna afterwards and hit 212 no I don't think he can go that much oh he went long long well pretty good Chuck but I don't think you're shooting the that the 14 or 15 is the 14 yeah he's got the one but 50-yard and I well you play the fourteen and go beats have the cue ball path between the one on the three the herons gots long rail don't miss it well he made it and he got the cue ball over there just in case I'm glad for seven I believe I think he can make the seven yeah looks like he does have enough of that and then he can try to chip into the back of the eleven ball even if he hits the ten he's doing something different from that he's going into the 1200 really sold out Scott you gotta do something here forever hold your peace the way is meanwhile I got out of the hole and he's got two good ones didn't expect him to miss that ball but no he made so many good shots get in there a little fast on this transition from backswing the four swing suggesting that he was thinking a little bit about the cue ball while he was shooting to seven yeah if anything Scott's gonna run some balls here yes guys gonna go to work on this rack been a while since he's seen something dead shooter I'd like to hit the 10 I believe just missed it good enough though I think he can come back now and hit the 10 that'd be the perfect shot and the cue ball will get to them no he didn't he didn't hit the 10 he would have got pretty good if he hit 210 yeah all right now can he hit the ten it require a lot of left hand English and some soft speed and so extreme spin yeah he's not even going that way no he can't hit him oh okay well I don't know is that the 15 now yes I don't think it passes no I think you're right he doesn't have a bank about a light kick on the eighth no good really you know the banks are blocked you might be a good shot but I like to shout if he can cut this entity eight and go upstream now he's not gonna gamble on that he just got out of the inning and opted not the ball on his side but pepper nothing I was up I'm gonna shoot this one and go three rails he might be banking the one and going three rails folks he might not be he just had speed to the pocket and he didn't leave Scott anything to shoot at he Scott has knocked the one away now control the cue ball which he did well we're gonna see balls knocked upstream now oh gee being Sheila combination back I doubt it the the part of it that he likes is that the ten would then clipped the fireball that he can remove that so yeah but if you don't hit man good you're gonna leave a bank yep well he he shooting at it I don't like it well everyone wasn't happy with that effort well you control the cue ball very good yeah cuts got across corner bang he's got a straight back bank but this both come with a penalty right not three now you can lose the game with that Bank you just got the leading 4 to 2 and efference got his back against the wall a little bit guys to think about shooting the Whaley's bank shot now he's not gonna do that there's nothing this ball away oh it's getting into is gonna fire just got frustrated the thing grabbed uncharacteristically folks just in case you're not familiar with the term skid it's when you cut a ball and the cue ball sticks to the ball a split second and it doesn't cut that's what happened there it happened has a bank on the 8th where I think he can it spring he can go to the side rail free and he has helped that didn't come the karate kick he tried to English it in with his body but it didn't work he would have had a bunch of balls at that one yeah especially if it went off in that 11 minute yeah I want to open the packet is he telling the ten no no no I'm not sure what he was trying to power up and have the 10 blast in the 11th that's not good no I'm that I don't know he was looking about ten ball he could really do something there I don't think he's gonna shoot to ten cutting it and he's gonna Bank something that that 11 he missed the 11 Scott right now after the skid and now he missed the 11 he's saying how in the world did it go around that ball meanwhile he's gonna have to watch Efrain run out now Efrain need six and they're down here oh he didn't want to hit the one he wanted to get position on the one but he still has six balls yeah he couldn't get the one now if you want Scott feels really unhappy right now because he feels himself going well he's got a little angle but he might have to go to rails to the 15 ball he can pound it in but I think he's supposed to go forward to rails to the 15 good call like to jump off this rail another five or six inches not quite how miserable though he was looking to see if that what does that tell the ten ball if that passed he would get him out he niche three he's getting cool I think he's got the right angle now to go one rail to that ten ball oh boy he missed the ball he's laughing oh another little he jumped up he did something radical happened there I mean it wasn't close it wasn't like you barely missed it he's not happy about it no he moved his bridge hand or something yeah it was a bad stroke either been better served to just cinch that ball you know he feels that way too right now he needed two more and he would have had a chance to get him yeah Scott needs four but he doesn't have he's got a two oh yeah got shooting that for sure a long time before he gets a chance like that to collect a bunch of balls short too short oh he's lucky he hit the tenth Efrain won't shoot that now maybe he will every side pocket no he's over the top of the - yeah no good if he wasn't over the top I think he could have shot the 10 and fall on the bank for his game ball no I think he doesn't have that so we'll forget it yeah it's too tough now but like Danny said if he wouldn't been right on top of us he had a real chance for that but that's why Scott played to put the cue ball on top of the two Stadium seating full balconies full races plan yeah you didn't hit that good enough I think Scott's gonna bank to ten hit the five he's got a good view of it yeah he needs four balls so I think he's got to do something aggressive he's mumbling something you gotta shoot to 10 that to five he's not shooting this ball at to ten and missing that well Ephron's gonna remove that twelve balls yes there's five stereo loves one pocket I'm stereo with the big hat good friend of the players yeah such a vibrant positive light here at the Derby City yep yeah Ephram wants to knock this 12 away oh and he billion hey that was a great chat here was he's fair was having two rows in the hit the five that was very good that was pretty creative not many people are gonna shoot that kind of a shot did frosty bank the twelve now or dude I'm sorry that too I was looking at the three on the five can he shoot to 5-under the twelve and three rail that might be what he's doing well thanks now he's just getting out of uni I don't know if it's got a bank the ten ball yeah if we put that play of his pocket shot clock is ticking away she kicking that to survive nice yeah kick pretty good at you know well Scott has a to that's pretty free I don't think he has the one he theater like it I don't think it has a clear shot at the pocket I think you got a shoot to to rail her because if you happen to hit that ten the ball is going to heparins pocket oh he didn't hit the tenant efforts to bank the two towards his pocket try to drag the cue ball of the far end rail I guess luckily get there now that's a pat but it shows out that's rare Ephron's playing a little bit careless if he is that was too thin a hit to do what he was trying to do yeah so then the speed would have even been worse I think he had a bank at 212 though this rack hasn't that been either players best effort oh and we're all tied up at six balls a piece of all drains in there now I have friends gonna be blessed with uh well I'll tell you Scott got hard luck a few times but that wasn't that hard luck right that was an unforced error when the ball goes straight into the pocket without something coming and kicking it in it's a bad shot he shot a bad shot there now Heffron might have a bank on the tenant trying to put the ten down and play and then maybe pin the cue ball to the back of the two I'm not sure what or is it three rails cross corner not one rail hello to you can cut enough hello to you well you got that part of it damn pretty good and then that was a good shot Mary Gardner Scott there's nothing aggressive to shoot oh yeah oh he does no that's not aggressive all right well anyway well does that mean having to well a double bank on the two right he's got a three you know swingin the other way I think that's what he's shooting but you gotta watch out the cue ball can't find a pocket and he has a cut on the tent also he's shooting that not making it but he's shooting it I guess that's what people are talking about leave Efrain long he didn't hit that ball too well no Scott hasn't caught it too - you know it's not his eyes it's not his age but he's just gotten that loss of confidence where he's moving this bridge hand and moving his head on those stroke deliveries there you see frost he stays down very still yeah he was worried about scratching well can he double bank this I think he could but you gotta hit it with speed because the cue balls not going anywhere and you don't want to sell out a bank so he's got to hit this with speed but I like it yeah I think it's a hair too aggressive Danny because though he was gonna be pretty hot he's in at the back it's not no it's not easy and this ball pretty fall he could have hit it hard and pinging double banged a living but he didn't money animal he wanted to just protect that cue ball I think he had it just wanted to get out of the inning didn't sell out anything let's say Frost think about kicking the thirteen ball towards his pocket you know good hit but he's gonna sell out a bank cuz what he's gonna do I don't know if African stiffen it the angles not there he can't cross it and I don't think he could step in it I think he to whaling on your side and get out of the inning he doesn't have a shot he tried to cross it but he's in there it he opened the two balls on the spot there always want a new shot by yes Scott got in aggressive he had a couple shots there he didn't shoot either well Evans got to be careful because both of those balls near the spot go Scott's pocket nice that good speed that's Lee I could say about that one very good speed well you're gonna see hai karate now knock it three rails on your side but the high karate and if you put it on your side and prevent him computing no offense you like laddie no yeah I'm there he hit the ball too thin for the speed that we reduced enough on the eyeballs you're right heparins got a bank here therefore my EE Bank yeah he might be able to cut the twelve straight in you know maybe he's looking at it for sure might even have a billiard he'll he made it well that puts himself up hit all that was have a crucial time any banks attend no no you can't you know he's on the cushion so the I don't even think he could double Bank the 13 he's gonna lose the cue ball well maybe he control the cue ball he does have a double bank no reason to be in the hurry here though he can he can put balls down table and more out of play just play a tactical end game here yeah he needs one and Scott needs three they're just too open you can't move around there this this protects the lead makes it much harder for Scott to run three and out well everyone's gonna bank at that ball I believe it's the game ball I think the cue balls gonna go safe yeah he's shooting at the game here might make it pretty shot I think it's in the area all Scott can do now is kick that ball away my child don't go to another ball yeah you know this was tricky tricky tricky it sure is you gotta have to take some risk with this kicks so I'm not a bank so a shot you know you're gonna sell out a shot for sure no he's methane to get that well he made the game ball around James Reyes now has to step frosty row I know Scott right now he's feeling really hard luck about that game now he's losing to nothing everything had to breaks to win this match at least I mean even Scott winded these two games in between heparins can have the break frosty wastes no time you got a ball near the pocket but I don't think it's gonna stay there I think a front can kick behind it well - doesn't like the kick apparently yeah he doesn't want to leave it where ya can hit the 12 or 13 then put the cue ball down by the three off the longer I mean hit the one he were that the one no but now he is gonna kick behind the 10 and print a bit good shot but he did the bank got the one I don't know if it passes if it doesn't pass you don't have to go right to the pocket and he knew that that was take care of the cue ball keep the pressure on Reyes while you're you see Reyes kicked lightly at the one I believe he's gonna have to spin it but I think he's got that in his arsenal nice even being claimed the one who put the cue ball underneath the one by going off the 4-ball here not a bad shot make the pour on your site go towards the one with the cue ball I don't know about getting behind it listen o the intellect that what uh what a creative shot that what a shot you double bank the Wharton hit the one while I had it wow that was a great creative shot yeah you the how accurate do you have to be the billiard that one ball over there without going to the end rail very good well I think Scott made a combination dead be for sure he's not gonna better he'll shoot it though raises I'm the he'll put a match right now the balls definitely favors got frost and therefore none spot air he's gonna be very difficult to do anything aggressive just got trying to minimize the damage here I kind of feel like Scott's kind of thin the 13 and bring the cue ball right into the stack oh no doubt about that oh good shot ice not doing it well he's not doing that what is he doing he's leaving destination putting more balls on his side Scott has too many balls on his side you're tied up got the scratch not yet he didn't take scratch that friend
