When we first met, I didn't have an inkling of how unique it would one day become for me. It took many more years before I uncovered fragments of the serial number, a 2 and a 0. The car with body serial number 20 was made in November 1941 and its first owner was a composer from Berlin, Paul Lincke. At the end of the war the car was confiscated from him and through numerous owners it arrived in Prague and found its way to me. Each component of the car uncovered more stories. I took the utmost care with each detail and respected its original form. With the right materials, techniques, shape and paint I wanted to bring this fascinating car back to life. A car which was at the very beginning of the mass-production of Volkswagen Beetles. I feel like I spent the last 15 years searching and the last 4 years in a dream. A dream about forgotten history, which I am now bringing back to life. A dream about the oldest preserved mass-produced Volkswagen Beetle. My name is Ondrej Brom and this is our story.
