in this video I'm going to show you how to use the cadence theme for a wordpress and I'm gonna cover this theme extensively on this channel if you're new here consider clicking on the subscribe button and clicking on the notification bell I'll keep you in the loop so let's not waste any time let's just go ahead and get started using cadence WP now before I can show you the theme we just need to go to their website and download it so you can enter WP crafter comm slash cadence and then click on enter it's gonna take you to the thank you for downloading page and as you see on the bottom left it's going to automatically download now here I am on a fresh installation of WordPress where we are going to install the theme this is what the website looks like right now I've just added three blog posts in a couple of pages to it so we're gonna go to appearance click on themes we'll click on add new we'll click on upload theme and on the bottom left we can drag and drop it right there click on Install Now it's going to upload and install the theme I'll go ahead and click on activate and now we have the cadence theme installed and activated on our website when I go to the front end here and I do a refresh you can see the look and feel has already changed now what I want to do is create some menus that I'm going to use when we're setting up the theme so I'm going to go right here where it says in menus and for the menu name I'm gonna enter primary I'll click on create menu and then where it says display location I'm gonna check where it says primary and then over here on the left I'm gonna choose the pages that I want in this menu I'm going to choose all of them so I'll check the box click on add to menu and then what I want to do now is just rearrange it so I'm gonna put home at the top and I'll put contact at the bottom and that is fine for my purposes I'll click on save menu next I want to create a menu for the categories that I've already created for blog posts so what I'll do is create new menu by clicking here and I'll name this blog categories I'll click on create menu right here on the Left where it says categories I'll click there to expand and here are the three categories that I've already created I'll check each one and then I'll click Add to menu and I like the order of those right now so I'm going to click right here where it says secondary and then I'm going to click on save menu now that was a completely optional step it's gonna be ideal if you're creating an affiliate marketing website or you're going to have one in the main parts of your website be your blog it's good to have a menu of the categories just like that now all the settings for this theme are going to be found in the customizer so underneath appearance I'll click on customize now the first thing I want to do as well is tell WordPress that I'm gonna have a home page and the blog page will be for my blog posts it's very easy to do you can click right here it says home page settings and then it says for your home page display a static page and I'm gonna choose right here from the drop-down the home page that I've already created and then for the posts page I'm going to choose a blog and that's gonna be the page where all of my blog posts appear on and then I'm gonna click the back arrow and now I'm all set so first what I want to do is so now I'm gonna click right here where it says home and it's gonna take me to that blank and empty home page I'll go ahead and click on publish to save these changes actually I'm gonna get out of the customizer I think it's gonna look a lot nicer as we're going through the settings if we had a proper page layout so what I'm gonna do is use a free template from Envato elements it's a free plug-in and I'm gonna use element or as well so I'm gonna go to plugins add new and install both of those right now first I'll do Elementor I just searched for Elementor I'll click on Install Now and then I'm going to click on debate now I'm going to go back to the plugins installer and I'm going to install envato elements here it is I'll click on Install Now and then I'm going to click on activate when you do that you'll have multiple new menu options you'll have Elementor this is where the element or templates will go and then right here it says elements and this is where you're gonna have access to hundreds of page templates already done for you using Elementor so I'm gonna click on elements now here's a piece of advice when you're first using envato elements they ask you for your email address I would put in any random dummy email address in here I don't recommend giving them your email I've done that before and I've gotten emails from them that I didn't want so go ahead and put any email you want in here check these two boxes and then click on continue now they're probably not gonna like that I suggested that but oh well now some of these template kits are only if you subscribe to Envato elements I am NOT a subscriber of Envato elements so what you want to do is scroll all the way down these are the ones where you need to be subscriber but then when you scroll down you're gonna see free template kits for Elementor and there's 120 now each of these are entire kits and when you click on it you're gonna see multiple page templates that you can choose from to import into your website and when you scroll all the way down you can see there's six different pages of these various free templates so I'm gonna take a minute to scroll through them and choose the one that I want to use for this video here's a nice simple one I'll click on it and as you notice there's multiple home pages to choose from and it's an entire package of about pages work services and all of that so this first page right here is perfectly fine with me I'll click on it and you can see this is one of those templates where there's parts of it using element or pro but I can import it anyway typically it's a contact form so when you scroll all the way down let's see if that's what it is maybe it's this grid of projects right here now it's right here it's the contact form so I'm gonna click on ignore note import it anyway and I'm gonna import it as a template right here so now this is going to be on my website and I can restore it to my home page okay now that that's done I'm gonna click on pages I'm gonna click on home I'm gonna click on edit with element or from here I'm gonna click this middle icon which will pull up the templates I'm gonna click right here where it says my templates and there it is I'll click on insert and then I'll click right here where it says yes and there it is it's inserted into my website there's one more thing I'm gonna want to do is on the bottom left where it says settings I'm going to click here and then it says page layout whenever these import it goes into elevant element or canvas you want that to be element or full width if you want it to take up that full width and also be able to show the header from the theme I'll go ahead and click on update and then I'll click right here on the hamburger icon and then I'll click exit to dashboard so now that we've added some content to the homepage I'm gonna go ahead and go to appearance and then click on customize now that we're in the customizer let's start building this site and learning this theme together the first option here is general now let's go ahead and click on that the first option in here will be to set the layout this is going to be the width of our content area and our spacing let's go back next is for sidebars so when I click on here this is where you can set the width of your sidebar and the spacing of the elements in your sidebar now and when you click on design you're gonna get additional styling options here for the font of widget titles as well as the content you have full customization options here I'll click on the back arrow next is colors now this is the most special part of the cadance theme and it has a feature that not seen in any other theme it's a globally linked color palette so first you get the option of having three pre-configured color palettes that are right here one two and three now for most of us we're just going to have one color palette where we have all of our colors in but what's nice is if you want to experiment with changing the color palette you can have a different color palette here that you can switch to and switch back from so you have that convenience now here are all the various colors that you can choose and put into your color palette and what's going to happen is all the different elements of your website where you would set a color you can have it linked back to this global color palette and if you ever wanted to change that color everywhere where you've linked it to you could just go right here click on a color and change it now you also get the option of hex codes RGB and if you click this down arrow here you can also have a different way of getting the exact color that you want now what's important to note is that you can also have transparencies for these colors so if there's areas of your site where you have an overlay color well that overlay color can be linked here to the global color palette so later on you don't have to remember everywhere that you configured that color everything will be in this one a centralized location and when you want to change it all you have to do is come here to change it so you can set all of these colors and you get quite a few options for those colors so here is how you use colors we are in the colors section still so we can set our site background our content background and our title above content background just a variety of colors so you can click right here to choose a color now you can put a color that is just for this element or you can link it to one of these mobile colors now when you have chosen a global color like is chosen right here you see that global icon that's letting you know that you chose a color that is linked to the global color palette right here so for the content background and the site background we've just chosen white but if I was to click here and choose a different color like say this color the color around the globe changes but you still have the globe there to let you know that you chose a color from the global color palette so if I choose this color for ten different color options throughout the theme if I ever wanted to change it and have that design consistency I would go here to change it I could go here and choose say a darker color and what watch what happens it automatically updated everywhere that I linked that global color to let me go ahead and click this right here to reset these values and you see it goes back and then I'm also going to click right here to reset that value to have it go back as well so this is how the color system works inside the theme as we scroll down we also have options here to set our links color and we also get a link style so you can set the style for links throughout your website I'm gonna go to the back arrow next is typography and you have in-depth typography options for every font selection for your website these are things you don't normally come across in a free theme they usually let you choose one one font for all of your menus one font for your text on your website and that's it but in the caymans theme we can choose all of our heading fonts right here and we can also have a certain unique areas such as the title on a blog post or a page now the font picker is really slick so we're also in a spot where we can choose the global color for our fonts but when you click on this down arrow right here it going to show you a preview of what this font looks like now if I click right here where it says inherit you're gonna see the font selector appear and this is where you can choose the font that you want and you can also do a search right here you can click on style and you can set the style for that font and then right here you could choose the size the line height the and the letter spacing as well as a transform option if you wanted all of your headings to be fully capitalized that would be the option for you and I'm gonna click away and that is the options for each font you have the color and you have all of these specific settings to get it to look exactly how you want it to look now I'm gonna go back and then right here we have our social links and this is actually important and I like that it is added into the theme versus me having to add a plug-in because just about every single site you go to has social links it's just part of how things are done now and right here is where you can enter in those links for the social networks that you want to use we're gonna use this later when we're building out our header is to add an element in there that is going to have the icons for these social links so there's various options here and there's actually one that I like a lot is Facebook group and you can see that option right here I love that there's a Facebook group option okay so let's go back and now's the time for us to build out our header and see what this header and footer builder is like so you can move your mouse and hover over the header area and you see the pencil icon here if I click on this it's gonna take me to the properties for the header and if I hover over the logo area you can see there's a pencil icon I can click on that it's gonna take me to the settings for the logo and the same goes for the menu these are quick shortcuts to get to where you want to go to edit what you want to edit but I'm gonna go instead and click right here where it says header now when you click into the header the header builder automatically appears as you see and on the left here we have the header elements we're currently using so I can click on either of these to get into the settings for those elements we have available elements or items right here and we can drag and drop these into locations right here now there's three different lines or rows that make up your header we have the top row we have the main row and that is what we're using for our logo and our navigation and then we have this bottom row now each row has three different columns in it so we have this main column the middle column in the right column this is what I love about the theme is it's so easy to drag and drop these elements around so I can click right here on primary navigation and then I can drag it where I want so if I want it in the middle there now I have the navigation in the middle and it freed up space over here to put something else now keep in mind each row has options so you can see where it says top row there's a little settings wheel and for the main row there's a little settings wheel each rows going to have color options all kinds of options available to it and each of these elements have a settings wheel as well to get you into those settings for those individual elements so let's start by modifying the logo so I'm going to click right here where it shows the settings wheel and it automatically takes me there so we have lots of different options for the logo it can be an image only it could be an image with the title of the website or it could be an image with the title and the tagline of the website and right here we conveniently have the site title in the tagline available to us and then you can set how you want the alignment for that so I'm gonna select a logo and I've already uploaded it it's right here and then I'll click on select and whenever you get this you always click on skip cropping if you've already uploaded it the way that you want so now we see my logo and we see the site title which is not what I want in this situation so right here all I have to do is click on logo and now it's gonna show me the logo only now if I wanted to make this logo smaller I can reduce the max width option right here so it's set to 200 but as I reduce this you can see my logo gets smaller so I'll click right here to reset it I like the size that it is but if you notice throughout the theme settings you have mobile responsive options so I can do desktop I have an option here for tablet and have an option here for mobile so you have all the different responsive options available to you now as I scroll down I can also set an a site icon right here so far I really like how that's looking so for the navigation I can click on the settings for that right here and I have options for the spacing I can have a stretch option right here that adds additional width between the elements here's my drop-down options I can click right here for the specific design settings for the navigation and right here I can adjust my padding I can adjust my colors I can adjust the background the fonts everything these are features you don't usually find in a free theme and even in some premium themes you can even modify the font of the menu okay so I'm gonna go back and I'm gonna go back again oops let me get back into my header okay I was in the design tab I want to get into the general tab that's actually important to note right here for the design you can change the color if you want of the background but there's some more options when I click on here check this out you can set a color and it can be linked to a global color once a or you can set it to be a gradient or you can set it to be an image now I'll show you the image option later when we're going over blog post settings I love that so far okay so I'm gonna click out of that I'm gonna click back to general so let's spruce this up a little bit so I think I'm going to put a button over here in this area right there so now I've got a button which is ideal for any type of call to action and I love that placement right there on the far right so I'm gonna click on the Settings will for the button and this is where you can change the text of the button you can set the URL of the button and also you can access the design settings for the button if you want an outline I think an outline might look a little bit better and we can set a border color maybe link it to here and then we would want to go down here and choose an actual border so I'm gonna choose the border style I like this and you can see now we have an outline on the button you can choose the thickness of it if you wanted or if you wanted something that might catch someone's eye a little bit more you have that option there so I'll leave it like that you can also change the size of the button so I kind of probably like this smaller size a button myself I'll go back to general and I'll fill this out a little okay I just entered free guide I'll do this back arrow and now we have a button and just like anything you can rearrange where these buttons go now before I do more to the header I want to show you that you have a transparent header option and a sticky header option so when you choose the transparent header I'll click right here and then we can enable it right there now we're gonna see a quick page refresh and now you can see the page content is was pulled up so when you want to use the transparent header what you're gonna want to do is add extra space in your page layout design because it pretty much just gets pulled up and you could accidentally have some overlapping texts so this is what the transparent header looks like now you get to control what parts of your website will have the transparent header as well as you have options to have it enabled or disabled on a mobile device so we can also choose a different logo now you're typically gonna want to have a different logo depending on the color of what's going to be in the background and when you click right here where it says design you can also have different colors so you're definitely going to probably want to go with whites across-the-board let me do that really quick now when you're looking at these colors and you see for example button colors it shows me six boxes if you move your mouse over a color you're gonna get a tool tip that tells you what that specific color is for and this right here is specifically when a mouse is hovered over the button and you can see right here it's the background which I'm not using for this button you can see the one I linked to a global color is the border and that's what you can see right there so this is transparent headers and you can see all the options are here for it that you would expect for transparent headers and this is a feature you don't really see in any free theme having transparent header that has a header builder like this so I'm gonna go back arrow and actually let me go back here I wanted to turn the transparent header off because it's not what I want for this design just yet so now I'm gonna go back now I have these four additional elements that I can use inside of my design so for example here was those social icons I was talking about I can drag and drop them oops it accidentally dragged me down the page that's probably not where I want these social icons so I can go and I can put it off to the side of the button just like that that looks good now when I click on these settings for these social icons here are the social networks that I want included you can click on any of these and you can choose the icon style and you could even change it if you wanted to something entirely different but you can choose it and you can choose the label just like that and if you want to add a social network that you added to the social links that we cover just a few moments ago you can go here and do that so if I wanted to add YouTube and I wanted to add a Facebook group and then I wanted to rearrange these like this and I wanted to get rid of Instagram there you have it I have totally reorganized it if you want to show the label we have an option right there it doesn't look good because we in a header are working with a tight space so let me turn that off and we have our design options right here so we can do filled we can switch it to an outline I like the outline a little bit better you can adjust the size the colors everything just like that now what I want to do is go back and we have this secondary navigation we have the search when you add the search it's just gonna add a search icon like that so let me scroll back up and there's my search icon we have HTML but I want to add this secondary navigation like that to this bottom row now this is the secondary navigation that I created that had the categories of my blog posts and you can see that right there this is very important for user experience if you're going to have an affiliate marketing blog or there's a blog as a main portion of your website and you can list out these categories and let people that are visiting your site and quickly get to the information that they want although for me it doesn't look good like this I would probably want to change the color of this menu so what I want to do is if I hover down here and says bottom row and then I can click on the settings wheel it's gonna take me straight to it I would click on design and I'd probably go with a darker color there something like that now I'm still linking it to the global colours may be there and then what I'm gonna want to do is change the font color of the navigation because it just doesn't look good like that I'm gonna want to make it white so where it says secondary navigation I'm gonna click on the settings for that and then right here I'm gonna go to where it says navigation colors so right here's the initial cover the color here's the hover color and then here's the active color so I'm gonna go here and I'm gonna just make them white I'm gonna make this white and then the active color I'll just make it slightly off-white something like that and there you have it so this is going to provide really easy navigation for your website visitors and so we can also add a top row if we wanted if you feel like too much infos in this main row you can move these social icons perhaps to perhaps to the top row if that makes sense for you and we've just experienced the header builder in real time it is so easy to get an amazing header that has a layout that would be exactly how you want it and there's no more limitations like many themes have where there's only three different structures you can have whatever you want wherever you want it it's super flexible doesn't require any additional plugins and the same also applies to the footer so if I click right here here's my footer builder I don't need to go over this but I can scroll down and here's the footer this right here is on the bottom row is the copyright but I can click the click well here and I can change the design or click on general and I can get rid of whatever's here and make it say exactly what I want and align it exactly how I want it now the only difference with the footer is there are these various widget areas and you would set up these widget areas in the widget section of of WordPress and you can drag these how you want them to have whatever layout that you want now you can see there's one thing that's a little different each of these rows you see here let me go to this middle row and I'm gonna click on the settings you have column options here for each of these rows so footers tend to have additional columns but you also get layouts so a very common layout that I see is something like this where you would have some navigation here some navigation here and then you might have a mini contact form here or some text that might have an about us type of section and so you have that right here as well so a lot of what is in the footer you're gonna you've already experienced in the header there's no reason to go over that in such detail so the next is the page layouts so I'm gonna click into the page layouts now I need to get into a page so I'll just click on this service link right here and you can see I haven't set this up with any content we have the header that we built and now we can start taking a look at some of these settings really quick so you can choose to show the page title or not for pages so if you're creating a all your pages with the page builder you typically don't want to show the title so this is how you can just disable the title across the board then we have the default page layout right here is where the title is above your content so right here is your content and this is the area above but if you prefer the title in the content like that you have that as an option let me go back to having it above so we have container width options so this is standard we can go full width that's what you're typically gonna have for a page builder or contained then you can align your title you can go left middle right this is typical but you also have mobile responsive options here this is a container that has the title so you can choose the height if this has too much height you can adjust it right here then we have options of what elements are going to be shown in the title area so if you wanted breadcrumbs you can click right here to enable the visibility and there we have our breadcrumbs this goes for meta options you could do that and it's gonna show the meta options and there's a little drop-down here and you can choose the divider and what parts of this meta information do you want to show typically for a page though you don't have meta options and I don't like breadcrumbs I know it's good for SEO or supposed to be good for SEO I don't usually like the way it looks though so I disabled breadcrumbs next we get our page layout options right here so this is normal but we can have a more narrow design right here and so you can see the content area is going to be in this narrow block but we also have a full width option one with a left sidebar and one with the right sidebar so if you click here it's going to add the sidebar here to the right and you also get two sidebar options this is really cool I should have shown you this earlier so you can have a different sidebar for your blog posts or for different types of content and you can choose which parts of your website show which sidebar so let me go back here and I'll put that back to normal and then we have our content style it can be boxed which is what you see here or unbox so you can see the box just disappeared okay and these are options that you can choose lastly we have padding if you want to show featured image typically you don't show a featured image on a page and for comments you typically don't show comments on a page now all of these settings are also gonna be available for blog posts I'm going to show you in a moment but any custom post type you might have on your website so if you're using learn - you can set these all uniquely for lessons or for topics or for courses and you get all of these settings for each of your custom post types that you might be creating next I'm going to click on design and so we can have a different font if we wanted right here a different color if we wanted right here and you might want that because we can have a different background for these page title areas so when I scroll down right here we have the option of choosing a background but when you click on it you might want in this case a gradient background or an image background now you also have the option here to put an overlay so if you wanted it to be a featured image and there's a different image in the title area of each page you can do that but if you want it to have the same for all of them I can click on image I can click on a select image and I've already uploaded this one right here and we can do choose image now one of the things I love is there is an option to choose the focal point of the image that you uploaded and see it's right here and I can change this wherever I want so if I like the way this looks right here I can do that but I'd obviously wouldn't want that this is a lot more intuitive way of selecting the exact part of the image that you want so that looks good to mean you have your typical image options right here for cover auto contain and all that kind of stuff so let me click out of that now it's hard to read the title so there's two things we can do first we can change the color of the font so I'm gonna click on select color and I'll choose this global color right here and now it's white but it's still kind of hard to see so what we could do is we can scroll down here and choose a background overlay color so I can go here and we can choose say a blue like that and you're like what happened to my image that's because you need to make it a little transparent so this is where I said in the global settings you could have set up a color that you would use here that had the transparency automatically in it but just to show you I can make this go down and you can see right there it's a little easier or a lot easier to now see the text that you have there and this would also be a great design option to have a gradient right there so we can choose a gradient like this you can choose the gradient colors so if I click right here here's my color picker and I can choose the exact color I want and the other color right here we can choose our angle we can choose our type and we have that all as an option right here so let's play around with this a little bit I'll go like that I'll click on the color and I'm gonna add a little bit of transparency to it just like that you can see it's really starting to pop and you can see I didn't add the transparency there but if I wanted to I can click here and I can add just ever so much transparency and there we have it I probably wouldn't go with these colors but I'm just trying to show the flexibility that you have here to add that now if you did have the transparent header enabled this would look really nice because the whole header area would have this image and it would have this color gradient so it's super flexible we have some border options and we have some other options down here I just wanted to show you the flexibility of the page layout now when you're on individual pages let me get to each let me get to a page so here's the contact page whenever you're in any kind of page inside of WordPress there's this option right here for page settings and when you click on it it's gonna reveal a lot of these so you can set them also on a page-by-page basis so what we're doing in the customizer makes it global what we're doing here is on a page by page basis so if you only wanted a certain page to have your transparent header well this is how you can enable it or a page title or a particular page layout maybe for your privacy policy page you might want to go with that narrow layout because it's pretty much a text heavy page well this is how you can do it right here and you have all of these various options on a page by page basis and you're also gonna have these four blog posts okay so that is your page header so let me go back and now we also have these options for blog posts now we're actually almost done with this video so I'm gonna click right here on the link to my blog page this is what's an archived page so right here is the option for this archive page and here's the settings for when we're in an individual post so first let's take a look at our options for the archive page now all of these settings should already start to be familiar so if I don't want to show the title here I can just turn it off and it's going to totally remove that just like that very easy and I can show it and the same thing goes I can have it be in the content or above the content I can align it I can set options and I have breadcrumbs options right here as well as the layout now let's look at the content style and the content style is these links to the various blog posts so this is what's called boxed you can see each one is in a box and then when I click right here you can see it's not in a box it's just kind of flat and right there so I prefer the boxed and it feels a little bit lifted up so now let's kind of customize this the look and feel of this a little bit so right here is the elements for each of these and so you can choose to show or hide and a lot of these are gonna have this drop-down off to the right where you get additional options so right here's for my featured image and I can see my images are being cut off a little bit so I will go like this and I'll just click on inherit and it's going to take the same dimensions of what I uploaded and that's exactly what I want to do here so next is categories I kind of like showing the categories I want the title usually I don't want the excerpt so I can get rid of that and the excerpt is gone and now it looks more like the same size across the board and since I'm the only one that uploads I usually like to hide the author so you have the meta options right here if you just wanted to hide the offer author but leave the date you have the option right here and you can also have a label with the date so you have all of these options here you can show the last updated date if you instead of the the date that it was uploaded the date that it was initially published you can show comments you have all of these options here but I'm just gonna make it real clean and turn that off entirely so here's where there'd be a nice grid of your blog posts now remember you also have the design option right here where we can change the colors have a different header and do different things but I like how that's looking right now so let me back out of here and let's look at the settings for a single post layout now this is going to be better when we actually click into a single post so I'll click into this one right here and you can see it has quite a nice layout now oh you can see I have the different thumbnail now right off the bat this looks great it's using this narrow layout right here and it has it kind of overlapping the featured image but you have full options for all of this like we've seen prior so I'm going to click on single post layout so we have the let me get into the general settings okay so we can show the post title right here or not we can choose if we want it in the content or above the content so this is a quick above the content like that and we have full control over the meta options I really like how this is looking since I don't have a unique featured image I would probably turn the feature an image off and just have it be like this if it was just me so let's just see how that would look really quick I'm gonna scroll down to where it says show featured image and turn that off and this is quite a nice beautiful elegant and simple blog post layout that I think would convert really really well I've got my title here and I can have control over the look and feel and the colors and all that and as I scroll down I have my video and I have my text in this nice narrow layout but as I showed you prior you have options if you want the container to be a different size we have all the options available to us right here so let's take a look at some more of these options we have our header options here are meta values we have our post layout so for the pages I was showing you using the normal and that's the width that you see here but this is the more narrow width but if you want to go old-school and have a sidebar you can choose this and we have our content and then we have our sidebar right here and you can choose the sidebar so if you didn't want it a different one for pages and posts you have the option so I'm gonna get rid of that though I just like this simple and clean narrow layout right here you can have it be boxed or unboxed this is the unboxed look but I prefer the box look right here and then we have additional control over elements in this blog post so you saw I disabled the feature image and as you scroll down and there's some automatic additional goodies down here so right here is the next and previous post so we have that option right here it's called show post navigation we can turn on an author box I haven't set that up so you can see it there it doesn't look good because I haven't gone and set that up we have related posts right here and we can show comments or hide comments so we have all of these options available to us right here it's really nice to have all this flexibility so I can go on and on and on about the different options that you have here with the full featured image let me just show you a couple additional options we had with the featured image it doesn't fit for my content but if I go here for the featured image you can see there it is how it was whereas the the featured image and then the content is kind of overlapping it we can click on above and that would push the content down and have the featured image up there above we can choose below and that is going to put it inside of the box where and when it was above it wasn't in the box but the content was in the box there's lots of different options we can change the size of it so if I wanted to go back to inherit we can do that and we can also have it take up this whole header area here if we wanted but like I said it doesn't look great in my content and this looks perfect for what I would want right here one thing I would do though is on the date I wouldn't show the publish date I think it's much nicer to show the last updated date so I would scroll all the way down to the title elements I would expand the meta and I would turn off the show date and I would turn on the last updated date like that so in the future when you update it you can just show the updated date and probably right here I would show updated on just to add that additional layer of transparency all right I have made so many changes to this and customizations and I just wanted to remind you in blog posts as well when you click into a blog post you have those same options on a post by post based basis by clicking right here you can do the transparent header change the layouts for different types of content where it might be better to have a different type of layout you can have control over that on each piece of content now let's go ahead and take a look at the web site right here you can see I have my header and here's the content here's my blog post page and here is what a blog post looks like and it's simple it's fast its elegant and these are features that you just don't see in many themes free or paid yet you're getting all of this for free thank you for watching the tutorial right now I just want to ask if you
