Jumping on SHARK Catch & Cook MUDCRAB in MANGROVES!

take a look at what i've found just behind me right here that has to be a male that is a big mud crab yep there we go look at that little fella see that doesn't look too bad out in the middle of these rock pools awesome looking shark right there what's happening everyone welcome back to another video so as you can see i've jumped on my kayak earlier this morning i've only bought my fishing rod out here so here in australia it's actually getting colder at the moment so what's happening is all the mud crabs and stuff are going to slow down a bit you don't catch as many in winter as this time of year so what i thought i'd do is come out into the mangroves one more time i've bought my fishing rod with me as well hopefully try get a big mud crab with my bare hands take it home and cook it up you might have seen me coming out to these mangroves a couple weeks ago with my bow i actually went bow fishing out here yep there we go got him big mullet where is he yes got him there we go i've been hunting through the mangroves for ages and i finally got a big mud crab no that i didn't get a mud crab but there's a mud crab right there crawling off and while i was hunting around through the mangroves i did see some big mud crabs so first off what i'm going to do is i'm going to go for a bit of a fish see what i can catch then i'm going to head into the mangroves and hopefully try to get a mud crab and then what i'm really excited about is later on tonight i'm going to be heading down to the rock pools and i know that there's a couple sharks that hang around those rock pools as well so hopefully try catch one of them with my hands and pretty much just have a bit of fun so let's get this kayak back out in the water and see what we can catch yeah there we go what's that we've hooked up oh that's actually not a bad flatty that's all right that's definitely legal that is awesome look at that little fella all right are you gonna fight come on go for a run you know you wanna that is so cool we literally just just started fishing and we've already got a legal flathead all right up we come buddy so yeah that's not too bad i think it was like the fifth cast of the day and we already got this little fella right here but there were a couple more hits behind me in this channel right here so i reckon there's a couple more fish in there we're gonna get this guy back in the water he is legal but i'm gonna try to get something a bit different maybe a mud crab or something else like that that we can cook up later so we'll get this guy back in the water and keep on fishing so see that no way i literally got a hit right below me i was about to pull my lure up and then i was like surely if i just drop it back down it'll take it and it did get up here all right see you buddy [Music] [Music] so so i am just walking through these mangroves at the moment the tides coming up which means these mud crabs will be coming out of their holes out of the deeper channels up into these mangroves to feed i know a lot of places in here do hold mud crabs but i'm talking they're like a half an hour walk through the thickest type of mangroves so it really depends how bad you want them but i want one today so what i'm gonna do keep walking through hopefully find a big male take a look at what i found just behind me right here i was almost going to walk this way on this track over here and i looked over to my right and take a look at what i see sitting down there that right there is a mud crab buried in the mud now i don't know if this mud crab is legal or if it's a female or whatever it's fully buried in the mud right now this is probably gonna be one of my last opportunities before it gets too cold so we'll just chuck this camera onto the tripod right that's recording let's go so this mud crab can't actually see me at the moment he's sitting just down here you can see his claws so what i'm going to do is grab him and hopefully by the end of this video i still have 10 fingers right look at that all right he's fully looking at me right now i'm just gonna feel around for his back legs there we go there's one of them got one of them and take a look at that that has to be a male that is a big mud crab oh get up here buddy would you have a look at that right there that is a big mud crab out of these southeast queensland mangroves take a look at that and it is a male that is going to be so good i can't believe i actually found one i've been walking through these mangroves forever i'd love to change the camera angle but i don't think that's going to happen right now what an absolute monster right there that is so good now here in queensland actually you're only allowed to keep the males i'm pretty sure down in new south wales you're allowed to keep the females so here in queensland you have to actually wear masks and everything um in public for covert so i was just like you know what we might as well head out into the middle of nowhere catch my own food so you don't have to go to a supermarket or anything like that but how cool is that self-isolating out in the mangroves that is absolutely awesome so these big mud crabs are very powerful and i'm sure people would have lost digits to these guys before because one of the main ways to actually catch these mud crabs it's fully shoving your hand down the mud crab holes themselves hopefully not getting your claws in that big thing right there and pulling them back out so it's almost guaranteed that if you got the eyes for it walking out into these mangroves where no one will actually go you'll be able to find big bucks like that and how good is that i am getting eaten by mozzies let's get out of here all right back at the kayak chuck him in there close it up and we're chilling i literally just got back out to my kayak that was wild i can't believe we got that big mud crab now what i'm gonna do just kayak around for a bit i don't really have any more plans for the rest of the day my only plan was to come out here and catch some breakfast and i think we've done that so let's maybe go for another fish and then if not we'll head back home and cook up this mud crab so we've just cleaned out the mud crab we got it right here i'm so keen to eat it so just chuck it in the pot leave it for 11 minutes and then it should be good take a look at that already going orange in there all right i think she's ready turn her off there true true not on me might as well just tip it all out all over your legs gee it doesn't look too bad chop up this lemon pull out all the legs just there tastes like lemon oh that looks pretty good hey if you want to see more mud crabbing videos like this i'll have to go out before it gets too cold because this right here proves that they're still out in the mangroves and proves that we can still get them it's all over your face while miley's hacking away at that one take a look at that so it's starting to get dark here at the moment and what i'm gonna do now is meet up with my other mate we're gonna head down the coast hopefully do a bit of night snorkeling and see if we can catch any sharks down in the rock pools down there i went down there a couple weeks ago and saw a heap of big sharks big wobby gone sharks sitting in the shallows so i thought i'd go back down there with someone this time in case i do end up getting bitten and try to jump on them from the back so that's the plan anyway what do you reckon pretty bulletproof it's pretty bulletproof so we've been walking around the rock pools for a bit now we're about to go for a swim and we have just spotted a little shark sitting in the shallows just over here so if it's still there i'm gonna jump on it and grab it you're just gonna have to send it about and that right there is a wobbegong shark we have just caught it barehanded out in the middle of these rock pools and we've got to be extremely careful this is one of the strongest sharks that i've ever held much stronger than these bull sharks and these guys have what's called lock jaw if they bite you you're not getting your hand back out of there they are not letting go let's bring this little fella up onto the rocks and teach you a bit about him oh lobby going full mate so as you can see perfectly built for these rock pools right here they're a very camouflaged looking shark i could barely see him as i walked past him i just saw his head sticking out i was like no way we need to start filming right now so later on when we go night snorkeling in these rock pools if the water is clear enough we'll actually see if we can see a couple in their natural habitat and go swimming with them but the main reason why you do not want to get bitten by this species isn't that the bite is so bad itself it's that they don't let go literally if you get bitten it's just going to sit there not let go maybe even do some spins and your arm your leg is not going to be in a good way but saying that this is one of the coolest catches i was looking at it i was like i'm going to have to do it sooner or later miles is just like you're just going to have to full speed ahead grabbed it and we chucked him in this rock pool right here and it's so cool watching him swim around breathe water through his gills and stuff so when we first caught the shark he was being very aggressive now take a look at him very calm chilled out i think he's realizing that i'm not an actual threat once an animal is calmed down back in its natural habitats back in the water you can just kind of chill with it get a feel for the animal itself and i am so glad that we got the wobbegon up close to the camera so what we're going to do now let this little fella go on the rock pool behind us go for a night snorkel out in the ocean itself hopefully not find any more sharks but this is more than enough for me that is so cool let's get him back into his natural habitat looks good what a cool catcher i'll be going sure just in these rock pools right here all right let's go snorkeling off the rocks and see if we can find any more you
