then we'll uh we'll get some good sleep and then my friend Mekong Carter is speaking tomorrow is this correct tomorrow and Jude are you speaking tomorrow tomorrow morning ladies and gentlemen Pastor Jude Fuquay in my phone you're still in there is Chu Chu that's how yeah it's like good Judah let the man grow up you know so I've been texting with juju for like two weeks in preparation for this conference so I thought that was funnier than you thought it was okay so let's go I want to start in in in Jude yeah true story so I'm gonna dedicate this message to the two Jude's that have changed my life pastor Jude pastor Jude senior and pastor do junior but dedicate this servant to you because you are such incredible men of faith so this is my sermon to honor you let's pray it's a good one Hey those ones that isn't good and I dedicate it to you yeah people are just like oh my god when's he gonna be done it's the one I dedicate to you it says in this letter written evidently by a guy named Jude it says beloved although I was very eager to write to you it just feel like this is for tonight and for everybody in this room and I realize not all of us are young in this room some of us are more young in heart but I'd like to really really come up oh okay come on let's just go I appreciate that amen but I really do want to speak to if I could say this the next wave the next the next carriers of the faith because because without you this this this this this message this this assignment to share this story with the world will stop and so I'm gonna be off the earth and you're still gonna be on the earth and and the the one of the imperative ideas in the room right now is whoever's coming next doo doo doo doo are you carrying the story in the way that you need to carry the story do you understand the faith do you know what it is to be a follower of Jesus and I think you do I think your passion is extraordinary --it that gets evident in this room your attendance here speaks volumes of your passion to lean in to learn more to grow to understand to encounter God experience God all of these things but but but one of the pressing ideas of course in this room is that not everybody in the world is in this room a lot of people don't even know rooms like this exist they know nothing of our story our story of redemption our story of forgiveness the story of our great wonderful forgiving God and so this I read this to you he says although I was very eager to write to you young people about our common salvation I threw in young people by the way I found it necessary - right because I need to appeal to you I need to appeal to you to contend for the faith that was once and for all delivered to the Saints I want you to contend for the faith that maybe you've heard this this this term before contend for the faith and what's happening in the book of Jude if this isn't this isn't we're gonna I'm gonna try to give you an illustration here in a moment but the reason so Jude basically just says listen I picked up the pen to write to you about the salvation that we have he said but I I've heard some stuff recently and I need it's very pressing on my mind and I need to speak to it and here's what it is you you you gotta fight for the real faith because there's some there's there's there's there's some Impostors and there's some fake stuff going on and he goes on later we don't need to go into details and he says here's what's happening there are people who are saying hey since I follow Jesus I'm forgiven I can do whatever I want and and I'll say it like this and this is this is this is pre pre sermon comments okay so this isn't this isn't my sermon this is pre sermon come it's preliminary comments Jude is saying what is a living faith has been turned into a concept it's been turned into a it's been turned into an idea that people identify with the Messiah who came in physical visible form who lived a sinless perfect life who died on a real cross hanging there naked bleeding dying who said Father forgive them they know not what they do three days later was resurrected levitating into the clouds hundreds of people saw him identified with him relayed the story of seeing Jesus that he actually did defeat death hell in the grave he did rise again he was the god that he says he was it's evidence it's truth it's fact that now has gone throughout the corridors of history and it's what we call the faith Jude says we got a problem we got people who are hijacking the faith and instead of declaring that it's a person and it's a story that has happened and is happening this faith has been turned into an idea or a concept almost like a clothing brand which is not a person it's a brand that people identify with and other people identify with and they get together it's not it's a brand he's saying guys our faith for some has become a brand and that brand is Grace and that brand says no matter what I do I'm good and so it's turned into he says sensuality it's not okay we got to get back to the faith and so I want I want to present to you tonight with with with what I believe the essence of faith is which I hope will will will completely release into your system heavenly adrenaline adrenaline because the idea is that we leave this room I'm really really passionate about a person right and so and and that's the only thing that's gonna sustain you just the concept of Jesus or the idea of Jesus I promise you it's not going to sustain United 2019 not in 2019 no way not in 2019 you gotta meet the man you had a living story right you got you got to see his footsteps in the dust and walk behind your messiah like it has to be that real or it's gonna be a concept and I'm gonna tell you something about principles and concepts you will abuse them but when it becomes a person and it becomes intimate and real transformation happens in our lives it's real so so I want to stop our regularly scheduled program and say as a 40 year old talking to maybe the average age of the room is 1718 right I'm so I'm tonight I'm gonna speak to that 17 18 year old hoping that if you're 14 13 you'll pick it up hoping if you're 28 you'll pick it up and hoping if you're 100 you'll pick it up okay but I would like to present for your viewing enjoyment and for your consideration what I believe the faith is contend for the faith what is the faith if I'm supposed to contend for and if I don't know what the faith is maybe I won't know what the fake is so what's what's the faith what's the faith and and we're supposed to protect we're supposed to fight for it that doesn't mean physically engage someone it means to to speak of it in a way to be offensive with the faith to declare what it is to declare what it is if something is crooked you'll know it's crooked if you put something next to it that is straight and so what is what is the faith and we don't have to condemn things that are off and wrong and be mean to people we just need to uphold what is the faith here's what the faith is we're gonna live by faith right I now live by faith in the Son of God okay so go with me to Hebrews chapter 11 hebrews chapter 11 and we'll just read this and then we'll and I tell you a story okay Hebrews chapter 11 it starts verse 39 says that's actually Hebrews 10 my bad and then we'll jump into Hebrews 11 it says we are not those who shrink back and are destroyed but those who have faith and preserved their souls of course the reason the writer of Hebrews is saying that is because he's writing the first century Hebrew believe his first century Jesus followers who have come up under extraordinary persecution they're being killed in the streets there that their businesses are being overlooked their commerce their economies totally changing so basically the whole written the book of Hebrews is written to first century Jewish believers who are basically like it was better and easier when we didn't follow Jesus so we're gonna go back and the writer goes don't go back what's back there's something back there this is alive Jesus is real he's been seen he's the resurrection what do you think you're gonna go back to rules living your life by rules and your own you're at no no there's nothing back there so we don't draw back and he says this now faith faith is the assurance of things hoped for the conviction of things not seen for by it the people of old received their commendation by faith we understand the universe was created by the Word of God so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible we just pause there for a minute like okay so there's a dimension that existed before this dimension there's a dimension that's eternal that was there before we began there is another dimension and that dimension is more powerful than this dimension because in that dimension it always existed in this dimension started and and that dimension began the beginning of this dimension and in that dimension God rules that dimension and he speaks words from that dimension and he creates this dimension he says stuff like ocean and oceans appear he says stuff like stars and stars appear he says stuff like Mars and Mars appears okay so like like like so that puts this dimension in perspective he says so so what's invisible made the visible and then and then he draws on the second born human he says by faith Abel offered to God more acceptable sacrifice than Cain through which he was commended as righteous but commending him by accepting his gifts and through his faith though he died he still speaks by faith faith Enoch Enoch was taken up so they should not see death by the way in a very underrated named Enoch would not be a bad name to utilize in 2019 Ya Ya Ya Jude and Ciara have a kid named him Enoch now think about it like that's Enoch Fuquay with the carry and a first down for Napa Valley High you know like Enoch Fuquay are you kidding me that's a great name alright I've dedicated this servant to you we hope it gets better yeah I mean it's like come on pick it up so by faith Enoch was taken up so that you should not see death he was not found because God take had taken him now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God now here's a very famous scripture maybe you've heard it and without faith it is impossible now you could transliterate the original language it is impossible impossible impossible impossible to get the emphasis of how impossible impossible is in this verse without faith it is impossible impossible impossible impossible to please him for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that by nature he is a rewarder he is a rewarder to those who seek him can I make a side note that verse is more about God being a reward than you being a seeker but we take that verse and we tell people you better be seeking you but if you want to get a reward you better be seeking I don't know God's gonna reward people whether they seek him or not he gives gifts without repentance that's not the point of the verse the point of the verse is God is a rewarder and if you ant all step foot near him think about him though he rewards in other words he shows up it means if you even make a move gods like hey I'm right here right that's what that verse means okay and I know prayer warriors want to make that verse about now you better seek God for 10 hours and then he'll reward you I recommend it I'm just saying that verse literally means God's already made the great initiative through Jesus but if you draw near to him he draws near to you because this nature is reward in other words his nature is good his essence is is goodness okay okay so we're gonna take that and we're gonna talk for the next 27 minutes okay and we're gonna try to understand how can we be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem how can we not allow our faith to become mere concept idea and brand and how can we keep it this alive amazing extraordinary person that we follow on a Monday Monday how can we keep the faith what the faith is so let's let's define faith let me pray with you god bless these 27 minutes help me to be concise and clear and communicate what you want me to say we thank you for Jesus God help the niners oh it's rough around town around here haha oh and I did not mean you actually help them I meant that in sarcasm in Jesus name Amen go Niners [Applause] yeah yeah we went to the playoffs so uh I hate the Niners I'm not gonna lie to you and that that a strong contingency you might have checked out of this sermon that I dedicated to both Jude's so I got I got kids now I've told you I got a fourteen twelve and nine year old and one of the one of the one of the great luxuries of kids getting older and parents if there's any parents here you know I'm talking about the older they get the more they get to start doing things you don't like doing around the house and that's that's one of the plans of God he's like the congratulations you didn't you didn't kill your kids they're getting older and now they're gonna do stuff so one of the things I hate doing I hate going to the grocery store I'm not gonna get into that time does not permit but one of the other things I hate go not only go to the grocery store by the time you get home then you got to unload the car full of groceries I don't like doing that I don't do it anymore I gave it to my 14 and 12 year old it's one of their many jobs right and of course if they complain they get more jobs so I'm always looking for a complaint or two to hand them more jobs now I never taught them how to bring the groceries in but wouldn't you know they bring the groceries in from the car the same way I did when I was a kid and there's only one way I've never taught him this I never said this is how you do it but my 14 and 12 year old will have a full car of Trader Joe's merchandise Trader Joe's one of my sponsors tonight I'm kidding I'm kidding I love that joke it just gets me every time Trader Joe's so I gotta say three more times and they'll pay me for this sermon I'm joking relax that's not the faint okay so right we got tons of groceries and I love it I'm like bush bring in the ghostery groceries I go in turn on ESPN sit on the couch and happens every time I can hear the footsteps which turns into a trot as they have gathered every bag and grocery you know what I'm talking about right and you got everyone like you got it you got it and whoever has the milk so yeah alright let's go watch out watch out watch out oh god right and they get to the kitchen and they shove everything on the counter and like dad the groceries are in and I want to get mad at them but I'm like my man that's how you do it you're getting resourceful as a 14-year old and when you bring the groceries in you only do it in one trip anybody know what I'm talking that's just the way it is that is the American Way somebody makes multiple trips you like are you doing you got to loop all the bags all up your own fingers now why do I say that because I think that's a wonderful picture of what people think living by faith is here's what I mean in the same way that my boys or when I was a boy gripped all of these grocery bags and hurried in to the kitchen I think it's how a lot of Christians live my face all right all right okay pastor said I got a pray have my Bible okay I got a stop stop cousin really okay yeah song cuz okay I got stuff doing it I gotta stop okay all right okay all right all right all right I got to remember all this stuff I gotta write down okay okay all right all right all right Sunday was good Sunday that was good that was good what's gonna came Monday Monday ho don't drop anything Monday Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday wins you tonight Wednesday ho this is better okay Oh a couple more things to carry thank you for that jib okay all right okay and Thursday all right Friday Oh God Sunday Oh some back okay all right what are you doing I'm living my faith he needs some help yeah man you and I mean there's nothing like urgency when you got all the groceries in your hand I mean you're the your favorite artist your favorite athlete the hero of a lifetime could be standing in front of you in the kitchen counter but you would not care you would push them aside you would be like excuse me LeBron I gotta get these to the kitchen and it's that urgency if I could say it's that fragility that we make synonymous with face we don't mean it but we peddle it in our servants now young people I know I know what a few you did this week I'm not gonna name names but I was just some let ropes and I'm gonna tell you right now I saw I saw you know what I saw and we talked last week about being holy three days in I five four kids in the youth group messing around during lunch and everyone's okay this is called the faith so this next week I don't want to go like I've turned you like the meanest youth pastor ever this is therapy for me [Applause] and so we don't mean to but you know I mean Amanda's listening to our youth pastors she's okay all right okay and faith becomes this fragile thing that we hold on to and every once in a while we have pastors and leaders who are like did you drop the faith pick up don't let go oh yeah in our sermons consists of don't you let go right five ways kids let go of God porn number two porn your we just like it's everywhere right so I mean am I the only one that's been in church long enough to know to see people like I mean I got so many friends on my hey man when I do like the end call I accept Jesus you don't do that every week and they're like are you sure you are with me the whole week are you sure and without even knowing we've created the constructs that faith is a faithful well what is faith faith is that I I will myself I muster within myself the ability to say God I believe and then and and believers are people who have elite wills that have the ability to withstand the temptation of the enemy and the horts of hell and all of the bad culture things in the world what are you I love the faith and that's why people don't want to come to church because we invite people to church under that premise and that's why people say to us stuff like this I can't come to your church whole place will burn down and you know what sometimes were like that's kind of true in other words like we do have it together and the faith becomes this exclusive group of strong-willed type-a driven people who are holy so we say content for the faith that everybody goes yeah yeah let's go what what what program are we good are we gonna get posters made up and yell at people on the street let's do it don't contempt for the faith and if you like me like I'm a hopeless romantic random abstract everywhere like I I'm like I can't do that you kind of eliminate a whole whole like personality style I'm not I'm not why I don't why I'm not wired like that like I get appointments like scheduled and it's like two weeks away and I'm like what if something else comes up on that Friday that I wanna do I feel boxed you know but the faith had as kind of we're not careful it becomes this thing that is really for just really disciplined focused amazing people who who at one time or another were like hey God I I need you and of course by acknowledging you I'm acknowledging how incredible I am for acknowledging you and so I love you so so what we're telling people without even meaning to maybe is that faith is something you conjure up within yourself to believe in God do you know the most dominant Greek word used for faith it's the overwhelming number one used Greek word for faith in the New Testament it's pistas pistas and it literally did you know what is what it actually means it's one word it means persuaded that's all it means persuaded this is the word we see in the New Testament for faith more than all the other ones combined pistas it means persuaded that's interesting so anytime you see the word fake almost all the time you see the word faith the New Testament it means by persuasion Abel offered to God a more acceptable it is impossible to please God without persuasion alright who's persuading who if faith is persuasion are you persuading you because of your persuading you to believe in God you just saved you it is impossible I read one scholar he said it is categorically impossible for the human soul to create saving faith or we saved ourselves but in that funny because some of our traditions customs demeanor decorum and how we carry ourselves lets it leak out into the streets that the narrative amongst Christians is that we're better than other people because I think we think the faith is us persuading us to believe in God and that's why we feel better than the rest of world are you a you believer Oh I'll be praying for you and look at the trajectory look at the footsteps of Jesus and where he goes it's almost like almost in a bombastic way Jesus is going to people we're like whoa it's not about air what do you what do you do we're better than her we're better than the kids Jesus only words she's a prostitute let's not do that okay if we're gonna keep kind of kind of our status you can't and Jesus seems by his footsteps to try to tell us something about who he is and the faith know who's persuading who gods persuading you you know what faith is faith is divine persuasion that's all it is I am persuaded now we're gonna get somewhere because when I read some of these Bible stories and I hear about these people diet and stuff for Jesus I hear these first century Hebrew believers who who their neighbors and loved ones and cousins and kids are being killed for the name of Jesus and they're losing all their way of life and they're losing their businesses and they still follow Jesus here's what I do I go those people are better than me I can't do that and that would be error know those people are persuaded those people are persuaded are you persuaded are you persuaded might I suggest that if you're in this room the persuasion has already begun sometimes it's a process he said you know so you're the great persuader no no you totally missed that kind of thing that I was trying to say what I'm saying is the fact that God puts you in spiritual room like this in a church community like this and you're hearing something about Jesus and you hearing about faith and you're hearing music and play it's because the persuasion has already but God God is persuading you you're being you're being persuaded oh man Tom doesn't permit but God uses all kind of things to persuade us but understand something about God he's a persuader he's a persuader the divine persuader it is impossible to please God without faith without persuasion can I gonna tell you the verse in another form which I believe is true it's impossible to please God without Jesus that's why it's impossible to please God without faith for the great act of divine persuasion culminates in crucifixion and resurrection it is the ultimate persuasion God is so heaven bent on persuading you the ornate curtain in which he built in an old system he rips it from the top to the bottom as Jesus frees his last breath as if I'm taking away all separation to woo you and persuade you that you are mine it's impossible to please God without faith because it's impossible to please God without Jesus you do not please the only way we can please God is with Jesus and that's why the scripture says I've been hidden in Christ I've been hidden in Christ I'm a new creature as he is first John 4:17 as he is so am I now in this world and so I that now I'm hidden in Christ second Corinthians 5:21 he who knew no sin became sin so that I might become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus the gospel is became and become became and become he became your sin he became your sin he became your sin so that you could become right with God and the judgment was poured out on Jesus so that acceptance can be poured out on you and so I can't please God without Jesus for I'm in my air am I wrong in my in but now I'm hidden in Christ when the father sees me he sees Jesus and he does not have to judge me there remains no more judgment for those who are in Christ it says talking about the the faith what is the faith now what's happening in conclusion what's happening with these Hebrew believers is they want to go back to the rules the Torah the law and so what the writer of Hebrews does he goes you want to go back I'll take you all the way back to the beginning to show you at all points to Jesus because you're considering walking away from Jesus and going back but if you go back far enough you'll see these people back here wanted to live in the day you're living in who had to follow Jesus so he says consider Abel consider Abel consider Abel consider Abel consider Abel look at Abel look at Abel now remember every Old Testament character in Hebrews 11 is there to point us to Jesus the point is Jesus don't get caught up on Abel don't get caught up on Enoch and we caught up on Abraham don't get caught up on that's all pointing the Hebrews to Jesus the faith and it needs to look at Abel now here's the story of Abel we're going to do this very quickly you can find this in Genesis chapter 4 Genesis chapter 5 I believe it's Genesis 4 but it could be Genesis 5 check it out later 2 boys born Cain's the first born human Abel's the second born human we don't know how this works but only but a few verses after they're exiled Adam and Eve from sinning in the garden that's a whole nother story by the grace of God God kept them removed them out of the garden lest they live in the state of shame and guilt for eternity God never intended us to live under shame and guilt he never intended our bodies to decay and so he removed them from the eternal place so that we would die so that we could live eternally forever the way God intended us to live with the new heavens and a new earth and a new body with no shame no pain no guilt no tears so he removes them from the garden out of grace and and right outside the garden they start making babies and they have Cain and Abel now it's amazing to me that Cain and Abel come to worship God which tells me that even though Adam and Eve have been exiled from the garden they still know that God wants to get together he's still know because they told their babies hey hey God still want and we used to walk with Him and the guck he still wants to walk with us and so Cain and Abel when they come of age they go let's have a worship service and I'm gonna bring a sacrifice like mom and dad said I'm a bringing you bring a sacrifice so Cain and Abel come we make so much of the story but there's very little details Cain brings he works in the ground he's a farmer and and Abel is a shepherd and so Cain brings some of his fruits and vegetables is like that I appreciate you I appreciate you I wanna mom dad so you want to be close to us we want to be close to you and then Abel brings the firstborn the best of his flock that we've made so much of this story about what bringing God God your best and I think that's fantastic but can we pause for a moment how does Abel know to bring the best and not Cain the Bible doesn't tell us as if we're not supposed to know I mean I feel for Cain you like Jew do you feel free K well right now I do in a minute he's gonna kill Abel so I don't feel as bad for him God says sister Katie says why are you mad you mad Kings like I don't understand why you don't like my sacrifice what what and I'm gonna suggest something here Abel was persuaded I don't think Abel can take credit for this I don't think it's fair for fair for Cain but a few few verses later God says something to Cain he says Cain he says all you got to do is do good in other words do better we're talking about the faith he can't say what he says for instance he said God says it to Kate firstborn human sin lies at your door first mention of sin in the Bible sin lies at your door and it wants to pounce on you like a I got like a like a like a cat like at like a beast he wants to pass but you he says this but you should rule over sin the firstborn human born into sin God says hey Kang here's how life is for you sin is at your door but you should conquer it you should you should you should you should like canes like what thanks for that it's like walking up to somebody be like you should you should play basketball like LeBron no seriously you should what's wrong with you I'm just saying you should you should where is it all pointing first conversation God ever has with the first birthed human you should rule over sin it's as if until Jesus that you should seems to ring through the corridors of human history you should Abraham you said just what you said David you said Ruth you should bow as you should jacob yousa until you said you should you should you should you should and it's as if all the characters collectively reply to god we can't and we tried everything we put rules on the door we tried to hold the door we tried to ignore the door we said the door didn't exist but we can't rule over sin this is classic bible and gods like what's that we can't say it again we can't and he's like I know but I can't you you came through the same door but I can but I can that's the door all the bad stuff came through I am the door I'm the way the truth and the life and nobody gets to the Father except through me I am the face it's me I'm gonna do for you what you cannot do for yourself good because I've been fighting and I've been trying to not been working and I've been trying to discipline myself but things have gotten worse and and I just I need your son listen I'm going to persuade you I'm gonna work on you I'm gonna walk with you I choose you I'm gonna carry you I'm good so Jesus hangs on a cross and says it's finished the faith what's finished what's finished his work is finished the work of forgiveness is finished what's the faith everybody's forgiven we just got to tell them and when we tell them God has to persuade them and then they'll they'll be forgiven but if everything we're talking about and we'd get to Enoch another day by the way Enoch lives 365 days and then while he's on a stroll with God he's gone do you know how many days are in a year 365 days I'm here to tell you Enochs whole life culminates in this God wants to walk with you every day this is not a concept this is not merely an idea he is a person who wants to walk with you as much as he did with Enoch every day he wants how did I not please God God chose Enoch you should go to Genesis chapter 6 it says Hebrews Allah and Jeff his dad was Jared his son was Methuselah why didn't you walk with God why didn't through the walk with God God persuaded Enoch God chose you then he wants to walk with you wants to walk with you he this isn't an idea jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so I have got nothing wrong with that song I think it's great but for some it becomes concept for some it becomes an idea in which you can get together and fit somewhere it's where you can make some friends it's something to do it's like what do you like skateboarding what do you like basketball what do you like shopping what do you like religion God cool so Jude says we got these people making the center of the universe and the god of the ages they've made him into a subculture and in that subculture you can do whatever you want because this idea says you're good forget it and everyone's like what's that cool and instead of going have you met Jesus instead of putting this entire movement and put it where it belongs which is completely hinged this whole thing is predicated upon God revealing God if God does not reveal himself we of all people are most pitiful of the whole planet because we've been duped we're here tonight same God if you don't be God this is a TED talk and I like TED talks and I want to do it but God you didn't mean yeah I like trailer jokes God [Applause] so so and can I say this Abel and Enoch one never died and one got murdered so if anybody ever tells you man you walk with God everything will go well Abel gets murdered because he's such a good worshiper Enoch never dies the point is not duration on this planet the point is not occupation on this planet the point is walking with Him on this planet that's the plan of God that's the will of God that's the purpose of God so I end right here and Miranda I don't know where you're at girl but I need you now there she is Miranda Miranda Miranda Miranda so let's read you three again this is I dedicated this one to YouTube you forgot hey everybody I was eager to write to you about our common salvation but I I'm really caught up about something right now and I got a right to you and appeal to you to contend for the faith to contend for divine persuasion which which notice notice the faith is what the faith is what the faith is delivered the faith is not understood the faith is delivered the faith is not just written down the faith has to be delivered who does the delivery God so I want to raise up another group of young people that still say if God is not God we are going down in a blaze of not so much glory but if God the same God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob the same God of Abel and Enoch is that God can persuade them if that God can deliver the faith to them he can deliver the faith to me so go ahead go and deliver the faith and here's what I've learned I'm done I'm done people some people are standing I'm done this has been my prayer lately and this is not a weak prayer but you're gonna find yourself with intersections you're gonna find yourself in valleys and you're going to find yourself in mountains young people you hear me you hear me you say Judah I'm so sad at 14 but you watch the trajectory of life you might be on a mountaintop at 18 so you just keep all walking but here's what I've learned in in the different seasons I'm 40 now got a teenager now and when nobody's looking nobody's listened they don't need to here's been my prayer God persuade me again I read it I get it I but I need you to persuade me again when I'm weak then I'm strong in the power of Christ rest upon me I need you to persuade me again I I just need you to deliver it again I I know I shouldn't ask but I keep asking and it says it so you're okay with that so it's not that I don't believe in you but I'm waffling and I'm wavering in and it's starting to look pretty bad out here in 2019 and I can't keep up and I feel anxious and I feel worried I feel defeated I feel discouraged I feel lustful I feel selfish I feel condemnation I feel like I don't keep up with the Joneses I feel like I don't measure up I feel just overwhelmed I feel like I can't just do another church service I don't just want to do another Bible study I don't want to go through the motions I don't want to just do what I've always done I need you to show me another aspect of who you are I need you to persuade me again I need to see you for who you really are so god if you don't mind show me the piercings in your hands if you need to walk through walls to show me your grace and goodness but I need you to persuade me again I once was blind but now I see God open my eyes restore to me the joy of my salvation I know you didn't take me out this far to take me back again so I'm out here in the wilderness asking you to persuade me again show me your goodness show me your grace show me your forgiveness show me your love show me I yield again God I need you and Jesus says if you don't become like a child you're not gonna be able to accept what I'm trying to tell you and do to you for unless you become like a child for unless you become like a child you won't understand me and that's and that's why I think the next generation if you're going to take the faith yeah it's kind of this childlike wonder has to remain where you sit crisscross applesauce in front of Jesus and say tell me again Jesus one more time please tell me again you were thinking of me on the cross you were thinking of me you became sin you were separated from them tell me again tell me again tell me again I am righteous I'm completely righteous I'm completely forgiven I can't be unrighteous by my deeds so I can't be righteous by my deeds therefore I'm righteous because of your deeds tell me again oh wow tell me again persuade me do it again there are some parents in here there's some pastors in here and leaders again the reason you are finding yourself stuck and the reason you are finding yourself like I feel like I'm dry I feel like I'm weary I feel like I got no freshness I need some freshness I'm telling you the freshness is in the divine persuasion it's where it is so that's my prayer tonight God persuade another generation persuade a whole nother tier of people persuade us again so is your goodness show us your son show us your beauty so we say concepts ideas and brands respect who you are but that's not the faith only Jesus is the faith the faith is a person and I need to meet with that person a lot and so I'm trusting he he's gonna meet with me Jesus Jesus we need to meet with God and I can't barely I couldn't find Sacramento if you put me in a car right now I couldn't I'm gonna tell you I know how to find God know about taters God knows how to find me please close our eyes for a moment may the world see the faith may the world see this great big gracious welcoming father who is in heaven who will woo them and persuade them God your persuasion is almost undeniable and we just say in this room with these extraordinary young people we yield persuade us again father persuade us again God persuade us again maybe even for those persuade us for the first time thank you Jesus thank you Jesus thank you Jesus thank you Jesus thank you Jesus there's some young people in this room tonight you've just been beating yourself up because of your doubt because of your your actions because of your deeds and you're like my boys bringing the groceries in your way down with all the things you're supposed to be carrying and doing and you've lost sight of the fact that it's all about Jesus doing and what he carries and he carries you you can only do good on your own power for so long friend eventually you got to yield to the one who can transform your desires [Music] and he starts to give you a want to do what you know is right there is now therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus young person you hear me you're already forgiven for what you've done you're already forgiven for what you will do the focus is Jesus let that reality begin to sink into your soul and it will begin to change your appetites your desires your wants and your actions this is what Jesus does transformation if you're here and you said Judah I've been discouraged I've been worried I've been doubting I've been beating myself up I want you to throw your hands in the air won't you throw your hand in there I want to pray for you might be one of the great obstacles for the next generation to carry the faith to contend for the faith it's time and time again we obsess over our own performance when the faith is about his performance Jesus god I thank you for every hand raised that represents a soul that is yielding to you right now in this moment we believe this to be divine persuasion we believe this to be you delivering the faith to the Saints we believe that this is what you do this is what you do you move towards your people you move towards that young man you move towards that young woman you see our helplessness you see our surrender you see our yielding we cannot do this on our own we don't want to go back we want to go onward with you we want to go forward with you but Oh God we're tired we're weary we're worried we're fearful meet us where we stand on this night if you can meet others on another night you can meet us on this night you can meet us right here in Vacaville you can change the trajectory of a 13-year olds life right now right now right now thanks be to God who always causes me to triumph thanks be to God thanks be to God thanks be to God thanks be to God oh he prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life it is by grace through faith it is by grace through faith it is by grace through faith it is not of yourselves it is the gift of God lest any man would boast God give us the gift give us the gift the gift of salvation the gift of faith you grant these you keep these you deliver these and thank you Father our hearts are gonna expand Oh with trust our hearts are gonna expand with transformation then we thank you for it we thank you for we thank you for it we thank you for it in Jesus name in Jesus name in Jesus name in Jesus name secondly just before we start singing maybe pray for a few more people if you're here and you're a leader of any kind a mom and dad's a leader we're all leaders and everybody leader of any kind in Europe you're a leader say to die I've lost some freshness as a leader I'm just gonna believe if there's gonna be a new skip in your step there's gonna be a new twinkle in your eye there's gonna be a sense of persuasion and your soul and your spirit like you've never known it before God can do it I'm telling you God can do it he can do it in here you can do it by a lake he can do it on a wall he can do it in a talk you can do it right here I believe in right now in this moment at 8:48 p.m. in Vacaville California that God is going to restore to you the joy of your salvation he's going to restore to you the energy of your salvation he's going to give you a precious passion for the future pull the days are right for the church the days are bright ahead for you and your leadership and your team and your ministry if you need that precious you're a leader in this room just shoot your hand up in the air Oh God thank you this was your doing this was your idea or the companies the businesses the ministries these things that we lead we offer them to you this was sure doing you initiated this you called us you appointed us you gifted us you graced us and so we trust you God yours is the kingdom yours is the power yours is the glory cause your face to shine upon us Oh comfort us protect us your name is the strong tower that we can run into and be safe god I thank you for new energy to our righteous man avails seven times he will rise again we're again we're gonna be who you call us to be grace to grace glory to glory straight the strength that's your destiny that's your pilgrimage that's your pathway the path of the just grows brighter and brighter and brighter to the coming day that come on if you're able instead let's lift our hands let's sing out these words to heart great God come on church come on [Music]
