anytime you have a text from lorenzo or dana you know it's like big news something's going on so i uh i called him back he said give him a call i called him back and he offered me this fight i actually was sitting next to you at ufc 148 and you guys had some words and i don't think a lot of people knew that you didn't like each other at the time what originally made that happen he just said a couple things like you know you look like you can wrestle go get cauliflower on the other side maybe you can get a takedown against me and my whole thing was it just came off so off-putting because he didn't know who i was true he dm'd you on twitter he did today he direct messaged me somehow i don't know how he did that he said i hope you're ready to come to daddy so i wrote back i am and i'm gonna beat you up he needs to be able to do everything he's a well-rounded fighter but it's pointless don't wrestle no matter what you do between now and that fight is gonna change the outcome of that department of the fight [Applause] and then when we got up front i guess in front of all the people you know you got a little hype and got in my face as me and daniel were walking towards each other i knew that it was going to be one of those face-offs when we got right into each other's faces he felt the need to karate chop me in the throat instinctually i reacted [Applause] i just think we both acted really immaturely up there you know i i think things just escalated way too fast so i definitely want to take the time to apologize to all my fans that i may have let down i wanted to apologize to mgm i'm not afraid of jon jones in any way shape or form so he's not going to come in there and try and bully me that's not gonna happen so yeah i push his ass get out of my face he's on twitter want to see anytime you get two guys who's never lost i mean that's the story in itself i'm sure there's going to be a lot of drama and controversy coming up um but um yeah people are definitely interested in this fight and uh i don't think it's going to go anywhere well do you think you got under a skin i'm not exactly sure if that's a good thing rashad got under skin and got beat up but um i'm excited about fighting the best jon jones that there is so if i had to kind of prod him a little bit to get him to train harder and be more committed then so be it january 3rd i can't wait to every round i fought in my career i've won there's a level of intensity attached to this fight that is really unprecedented he actually thinks we got into a fight yesterday i don't understand that i didn't count that wasn't an actual but you you beat me up good job champ you're an idiot shut up you're an idiot he told me on an interview i'm gonna do very violent and malicious things to you there's nothing you can do to stop me daniel cormier expect very malicious violent things to happen at 27 years old he's the number one pound-for-pound fighter a lot of people knock him for being you know short with tubby i don't you're a little fat that tubby buddy made it to the olympics he got to wrestle division one this is not the first time i've bought a guy who seems stylistically my worst matchup i'm used to making guys who seem amazing not look that good what a fight i'm better than him at wrestling he ain't taking me now i'm gonna take him now let's see how he deals with that daniel cormier is a sensational wrestler he also has lightning fast hands legit one punch knockout power i'm glad he thinks that that that's a thing he has over me i'll let him keep thinking that all right i'm here live with daniel cormier jon jones welcome via satellite i've been in many steer downs and i've never had my throat grabbed and the guy grabbed my throat and uh i had to kind of stand my ground and let him know that i won't put up with nonsense like that so yeah i think i would do it again so you did not expect him to drop his belt and start throwing punches well i mean i don't know i just didn't expect him to touch me from the get-go you know we do stare down right he's been in a number of stair-downs but uh he didn't have to touch me i wasn't there to be touched i was there to do morning joe rogan you will wake up and you will say how daniel make this look so easy where he has a tremendous wrestling experience i have tremendous championship experience i feel great and uh you and pretty much every time we watch the fight we find a new combination that could land or should land and we kind of perfect them i feel like i was just here yesterday with the unstoppable 20 fight one of those unusual characters who grows when he steps into a fighting arena roy jones jr used to do it as a boxer i was on the olympic wrestling team in 2004 and 2008 i was top five in the world four times i got a bronze medal at the world championships in 2007. i love that kane trains so hard as a heavyweight these guys look like they know what it takes to be the best daniel cormier finishes patrick cummins just like that this one's different man this is the one that you kind of prepare for for i mean since day one time to get down to business you know it's all real but after you get everything together it's time to go try to win a championship who's the bad guy dan ganjon who's the bad guy mama don't and then dad's gonna be what we just landed in vegas about to pull up at the mkm brand love getting there during fight week man it's uh the environment it's just a big fight feel the moment you step foot into the empty brain beautiful las vegas man i haven't fought here since i fought i think ryan bader or somebody i'm not sure it's been a long time was it baiter it's been a long time last time i was here i beat an undefeated wrestleman ryan bader there's batman and then takedown against cormier in his career this ultimate grudge match goes the distance john just raises his arms up and then left hooks daniel because the fight had not ended yet but daniel hit him after the buzzer see what this shirt says ivory box it says i'm broken maybe this team is unbroken let's go baby and still take them down i think that's like i don't know five takedowns to zero i'm sorry they don't that i'm being classless right now i do not like dc and this is why i'm being this way one thing that you cannot deny is that i outgrinded him i outworked him as simple as that i out wrestled him i outworked him i beat him at what he was good at and uh feels good um honestly you know i know it's always nice to be a class act after a victory but i really hope he's somewhere crying you know and i'm sure he is and yeah i mean jon jones it's just so hard for me because jon jones is so young and has so many more things to accomplish but he's he's beat the who's who he's cleaned out the division he's breaking records um and if this continues yeah the question is what happens to a guy when he gets into deep water it's fun being a fighter when you're the guy kicking everybody's ass but when you start getting some back that's when you find out you know who's a real champion and jon jones has proven it twice i don't know i don't know uh i don't know how to judge a fight so you know i know i lost and john one that's pretty much all it boils down to it doesn't matter if it's closer or if it's if it's uh if it's if it's not you know he won the fight it's not gonna this is not gonna ruin me you know one way or the other i'm gonna stand across the cage from that man again and uh i believe just as i did tonight and i'll take the fight to him again i guess because your dream got cut short and you had a kid and you had to give up wrestling doesn't mean that you can't wrestle with these great wrestlers so we had a chip in our show there and our goal was to go out there have faith in our wrestling and to take him down you know i watched him hold my boy frank mir against the cage and i was just like i see what you're doing there and just watching my opponents so much i start to subconsciously inherit their talent and their gifts working in the desert man in order to hang out in the desert you got to be tough the animals that live in the desert are tough the plants that survive in the desert are tough my boy cowboy here is a bad bullfold once i realized that he let his guard down i snuck in two punches before the bill rang after the bell ring he snuck in a few punches i don't think any of them hit me he almost hit her dean and that's why i gave him the second sign because he tried to hit me after the bell you know sometimes it feels like it's me against the world and it's me against my division but at the end of the day the other day it's me against one person one guy at a time fortunately i get several weeks and several months to know who i'm fighting and prepare for them and i'll keep taking them down one guy at a time
