Looking at him now it seems he decided the summerholidays are more comfortable than the punkroutine

His wife is getting into the later stages of Alzheimer’s. He mentions this at the end of the video when he takes a call from her

He’s obviously suffering, and as a result is abusing alcohol. I feel sad for him. Despite how insufferable and annoying he is in this video.

real cringe here was the lady who said "this is so punk rock!"

That was some ride!

Watched the whole thing. Highly entertaining.

This is actually kinda punk. At parties this is what would eventually happen. Arguements about what was punk that was more or less gatekeeping non-sense. I would be like Henry Rollins laughing at the uncomfortable absurdity of the escalating situation in front of me. Marky Ramone would be a big guy wearing a Sheer Terror shirt dropping truth bombs on the loud drunk with everybody knowing he could kill the drunk idiot in one punch.

And the girls would look at us like we’re all idiots.

Henry Rollins should give him a fucking beating.

Johnny is super uncomfortable if he isn't the center of attention.

ben's they'll be doing the best we could according to our individual determine ologies occasionally we met as friends you know on tour but let me tell ya that was probably where we became major enemies because it's like that [ __ ] rock and roll was a disgusting concept what we wanted was to break away from there and be good [ __ ] fellows with each other ain't never happened like that boys and girls it really didn't it became so competitive and lost in its own [ __ ] [ __ ] hello punk all right where's that term come from Italia it wasn't when Iggy was running around it was Caroline Khun PUD this expression together and it was a complete insult right in Melody Maker a British magazine she had the audacity to call me king of the pounce and I bothered to find out what that meant well hello I'm John I know [ __ ] toyboy Oh Punk at the same time you've got reggae runnin around it rust afar iron not to drink and bob marley's having to deal with 92 it that was a great insult to him but he turned you upside down and that's what we did - absolutely so one thing I was wondering John John Varvatos it's you know you made that there's so many different opinions in here like John's here what did you learn about punk from from from working on this what he's talking to me fella next yeah can you tell him we ain't never met before now we ain't only right you said silly things but it excellently good things too yes and you call Black Flag a bunch of suburban rich kids yes I did but I didn't like [ __ ] music [Laughter] we're not Sex Pistols came to you you ain't heard anything that [ __ ] good and you know it I could hear every single word clearly and those words for me in the houses of Parliament under the traitors and treasons right which at that time carried a [ __ ] death penalty so don't you know don't talk blue flag pink [Applause] in the end the interest of fairness John Henry what did the Sex Pistols mean to you I remember I saw a picture of young John he's wearing a Pink Floyd t-shirt and on top of the Pink Floyd part someone had written I hate okay well I saw that word that shirt to the drama so you know I saw this shirt and I went oh and I never thought about music the same again yeah it was a good idea it was such a good idea that I ended up having a really good relationship with the Pink Floyd guitarist why you came anyway Wow nobody's ever talked to us like that we don't hate each other we like open debates it's mister Varvatos as I was asking before what what with in the interest of open debate what were the things were your takeaways from this this documentary well there's a lot of passion yes I think a lot of angst hey being used by fashion is a passion she stole that terminology didn't she did this is the trouble growing up as a sex pistol you know we with Malcolm and Vivian pretending they were the the geniuses above us all we're just Street kids right so they used all these measures as a fashion statement oh [ __ ] off Johnny Rotten tells it like it is right be done with it I know Malcolm Novi no [ __ ] right if I'm gonna like say thanks to good songwriters you know I'd look at first Ray Davies in the kinks that would be my culture Iggy said that in the documentary too he gave credit to - yeah but I was lying then well I was wondering as we could go down was no no I'm not I'm not joking I love good some writers absolutely in the sixties the animals these phantom stick things that precursor I wanted to ask everybody you said that Ray Davies inspired you and let's go down this to Henry and Duff it was what was the first Punk that turned you what turned you into Punk what was it as a band was it a wait wait I need you to reach I write that question because you're presuming Ray Davies was the one well Iggy said that Ray Davies was the first how much time did he do in jail [Music] was there a song or a band that turns you on the phone what was the what was the moment there's a guy in my neighborhood named Roberto burden and he had his ear to the ground he always had the cool records and I was telling him one day at the skate ramp how my Ted Nugent Steve Miller records another dressing my young man anger those issues they said come to my house I'm a doctor and he gave me the Sex Pistols out in the first clash album the first Ramones out he said return these tomorrow in one piece and I played them I went oh so that's how it can be and that's was my first indoctrination then I saw the clash play Feb 15 1979 with Bo Diddley opening and standing right in front of them that was a transformative experience Wow having seen Led Zeppelin like year before amazing what got you into punk it was it was the same thing Pistols records clash first record and then this West Coast thing started developed like my hometown to Seattle yeah there's the mentors and the loot and deal way where disband that started a tour and they would come down a do a what became like our [ __ ] there was only like 50 of us but but they were like our kiss they were everything and they were they had this list of like clubs to go tour and they passed this list on it and we were all 14 years old and my first gig ever was opening for [ __ ] Black Flag was Ron Ray's singing and seen des come in and then where I I saw that 79 clash tour before London Calling people were pogoing and and and a yellow coated security got punched a pogo-er in the nose and broke his nose and Strummer stopped the show there's no barrier between you and I you know the band and the crowd we're all in this together and that that [ __ ] changed everything for me and I saw when this guy came in for the first time in Seattle new singer this new guy from [ __ ] DC SOA Henry Rollins he's gonna be in saying des mood to rhythm guitar and and I was in the band actually opened for them that that night in Seattle and Henry I saw him prepare for the show like it was intense and was [ __ ] real and scary and things were gonna happen and I've just watched him the whole day like not getting too close cuz some [ __ ] might happen my [ __ ] party but anyhow watching that formation of Black Flag it was another transformer give for me Wow better yeah that's a great one see everything he's setting is absolutely excellent I agree I know 100% of it it's I came from England from a different background why wouldn't it from hands and I don't wanna come over as arrogant and neither does this fellow was telling you the history of what influenced us I just want to say that in nineteen seventy five seventy four at CBGB's and of course in Detroit that's when Punk started so if it wasn't for that first Ramones album punk would not have been solidified and that wasn't CBGB's along with blondie two Heartbreakers and before that the New York Dolls and then the Ramones went to England and they started their punk scene and then the rest is history I'm not gonna argue about anything thank God thank God we got the music yeah and that's the most important thing doesn't matter where ever comes from LA New York England this is the best music that was ever out there it still isn't I just wanna I just wanted to say one thing he says nothing to do what was going on over here on the screen Donald Trump oh [ __ ] off [Applause] but you know I mean the first pistols album kids kicked ass the first Ramones out and kick this first blondie album kick there's the Heartbreakers kick this the clash so there was some why do you think politics was something something anything in the Ramones that was remotely political no we were we were fun bands we wanted people to have fun everybody and that's what's important every band was different every band had some to say in some to offer I love my world right now one thing I've always known is always no news about me don't [ __ ] trust a politician would you please tell me how you got into punk promises I just want to say that I came to I about the Ramones and the Sex Pistols before I knew about Iggy and the mc5 so like as a teenager those were the two bands that like were my youthquake earthquake and oh my god off just for you and it was amazing hang on tiger take it easy tiger let the broad speak first what what was cool when I discovered these bands was like there was such horrible horrible music on the radio it was god-awful it was the 70s mid mid late 70s and it was all so boring in like over 30s music it was just terrible and then when I heard the Ramones I was like oh my god this is like for teenagers oh it's speaking to me it's teenage it's fun I want to dance to it and then when I heard the Sex Pistols I was like I am [ __ ] terrified of this ban and I loved it so you know it was like The Sex Pistols and x-ray specs they had such stuff to say and the Ramones and blondie and the b-52s let's not forget them you know that was like super fun and youth so that's what my take on thanks watching francese have to understand 7 & 7 is by awfully those songs but definitely the precursor to all this stuff you know and in my opinion of course again the kinks all day and all the night you really got me and and that heavy guitars sound and that's that was Punk to me and every band had at least one or two songs in the 60s that had a punk element to it nowadays even the Ramones did it even the the pistols that if they did sixties covers of stop songs and because they had great great hits they had good stuff then so we were mounted off and we did do you want to dance let's dance and that stepping song stepping-stone stepping-stone stepping stone you played it with me I'm not the enemy okay so if it wasn't for the [ __ ] Ramones you'd be Norway's be [ __ ] doing fish and chips some good few is he's public he's not even an original Ramon but he's propagate the blank generational publication hell you took his image and all you guys took Richard hell's image that's all you did yeah and you're still [ __ ] that show you [ __ ] did was take Richard hell's blank generation album and that's all you did so you did and Sid Vicious was the star that's what he was hard he was the best oh sorry it was great idiots why he was great enjoy your dragon blend all the song let's end this Jerry Springer episode with Glen Matlock come on what I wanna propagate here so you all completely understand punk music for me was positive proof positive that we could change our lives by music meaning what we said attack the political systems this staffed gun welcome you talk to torpid unit through the walk inside didn't he did but he just talked didn't do to walk down the street protesting okay sit the [ __ ] this is so punk rock ladies and gentlemen this is [ __ ] polish unrehearsed off the [ __ ] rail the interest of wrapping up what's what gives you what gives me the right to be up here what gives you hope for punk what punk is been inspiring you what gives me hope for punk is that people still get really pissed off about stuff and and yet people can still laugh at people getting you know and and it's it's a good time I'm sorry what punk music is inspiring you right now I'm lucky to have two daughters 21 and 18 who turned me on to where the [ __ ] is new I love the [ __ ] I love my daughter's band the pink and pink slips go to these [ __ ] shows in in Echo Park in downtown and and I got to go see an old crusty last Saturday Walter lure played heartbreaker shows was [ __ ] great you know there's a whole new youth movement who are doing think Johnny was alluding to and the things that I experienced watching Henry and watching all my heroes and and seeing Iggy as a [ __ ] young kid and and the pistols were so [ __ ] exotic talking about the songs were about political things I had no idea but you know what the Queen was or any of that ship and it opened me up to all of that stuff to look into it and so did stiff little fingers when my mom came into the bedroom I was listening stiff little fingers and and suspect device and and and she started crying and we're Irish families these boys are going to the troubles and the suspect devices a it's a bomb and anyhow so there's a great in Los Angeles and Seattle there's great young punk rock or whatever somebody alluded to on the other documentary I think it was Henry like they didn't there so it's not John recipie it's just a bunch of bands with a bunch of different ideas dropping hip-hop beefs are not or just playing [ __ ] straight up punk rock or writing great songs and and I get to see it through my daughters you know I get to go to these shows that's great the point being how different we and you must not forget that that we have never our selves as bands viewed each other in competition this is something that progress created for us I haven't got a job well my job is to educate you like a [ __ ] Marxist that's just when you come in the middle and talk just 20 seconds one of the best things happening in punk rock right now is you have a lot of women in bands and a lot of bands in Australia that are worth checking out there's a great band called BB and the blips and bang called the cable ties and they have fantastic angry women's singers and there's a great Australian metal band called high-tension and I believe the singer is by way of Taipei or Singapore ends up in Australia or maybe she was born there they are fantastically powerful and to hear this woman like rip her vocal cords out per song go online you could listen to high tension right now they're fantastic so there's a lot of women coming to the front there's a great band in LA you see them whenever you kind of go see it the CIA and that would be a de neige Segal on vocals and she's fantastic so a lot of good punk rock is happening mister Varvatos what gives what gives you hope for punk after doing this coming out of this is they're all this crazy [ __ ] it never ends that's what's exciting you know my Nora has Alzheimer's so when she rains which every was faking the point of the bat early punk my granddaughter the lead singer of the slim all right we're gonna in there thank you all so much for coming out appreciate it Punk will be on epochs March 11 [Applause]
