welcome everybody to another episode of Anderson's TV where we are about to do another very serious blindfold challenge to see which of nine different tubescreamer clones that we have for Rob to test out is his favorite one so Rob please make your way to the chair Rob as you can see has been blind that's horrid [Laughter] right we're using peat honora's Les Paul to give you sort of a reference e tone and we are plugged into a very cool sounding even fairly surely all that's left to be done is for could you stand by yourself so Pete if you would please start to pass me the pedals so number one is which camera number one is this pedal here if I could just have the second one that would be great can I take my blindfold off no no so here's number two number three is thank you very much here are number three by this company here number four is this one number five is oh really you know I didn't raise we're doing this one as well so number five is this one number six yeah Wow number six is this one number seven that is a classic though isn't it number seven is the old clash and I said that I won't do them in this order otherwise that so number eight though is made in America is it made in America this funny I think it is and number nine absolutely here it comes number nine Wow oh there's no way that Robbie's gonna guess what that one is I okay so I'm gonna plug these in we are going to get some tones and Rob I believe now it would be fair for you to remove yay line forward thank you guys well the way I saw the New Avengers film last night with Peter Lorre and Ruby Masada is really good I already enjoyed it was it though is there asking you I haven't seen it so could you is there anything you can tell me that's a bit of a spoiler um one of the Avengers dies Wow actually I'd heard that I'd heard a rumor that that might be the case I'll just plug these in the wrong way round here which one yes excellent okay so what I'm going to do with all these tube screamers is set them so that the volume tone and drive they pretty much think they've pretty much all got the same three controls gonna set them all at twelve o'clock and then Rob you can say to me kind of a bit more a bit less so you've got a got a volume of driving a tow no we just so I'm sure we can in order to live while we're doing this not what we're doing this now we're gonna get to the end if we can I said you just pop your cable into the amplifier so that we have noise okay so there it is just push the tip in and as always you will give me a your your give you one okay yes your many many years of experience as a guitar player yeah and a score out of 10 play guys so here yeah oh you're an ASIC tone happy with that yes here comes tube screamer clone number one [Music] [Music] could I have a little bit less game and a little bit less tone please let's gain in less tone there we go that can I have all the game just to see what it's going in the game yeah just to see what it's gone in this it is guts there we go yeah it sounds a little bit affordable and a bit bright bit bright a bit affordable yes those may be right affordable bit affordable yeah so not a kind of - screamer vibe that you would go for is that a loaded no no no I'm just you know I know I wouldn't go for this Anna school I'm gonna give it a resounding six point eight six point eight yah okay so no Moroder if we take this off all set at twelve o'clock and you should have if you remove your chin you should have sound door okay are you ready to go [Music] could I have a little bit more game a little bit more gainer [Music] [Music] well ball I too miss Les Paul yes known for their changing stability I will I will tell you that I think that's really good I think it's I think it's good pedal a good pedal I'm gonna give that a point to you is there anything you'd like to add to it other than I think it's a good pedal a little bit bright I think it's a good pedal a little bright but a really pleasing Tom bruh and so did you give it a score and I missed what you said I said they point to 8.2 ah ok just put the knobs to a position okay so this is pedal numero tois are your knobs positioned ly they are okay 8.4 yeah I like that yeah I like that hanging because you've given that like a point to of a score more than the one before so could you justify your your extra points slightly thicker slightly thicker Yeah right like Robin Thicke slightly thicker like I don't you say that about people in your family don't you sometimes yeah he's the slightly thicker one we got the tuner on yes all right I can go for pedal número for we are nearly halfway through okay so this is pedal number four is it on yet not on yet good cuz I'm still tuning good for you you know what I'm never gonna make it through this unless I have a piss go and piss without that okay right Monsieur Rob hello would you like to hear pedal number four anything to erase the memory of what return [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] it's a bit fuzzy just very slightly fuzzier and and I'm not such a king king keen on it not so keen okay the pedal number one is anything you don't know it's like bright now back off the gain boost the volume and what do you want me to do all of that gone at the ballgame right now brightness more getting a bit more volume oh just everything that voiced the mainsail number [Music] [Applause] [Music] well it's amazing what more everything matter I really like it so you've gone from underwhelmed to over well overwhelmed yeah and there was a well point to was underwhelmed whelmed overwhelmed so what I've got well this is you know more so than perhaps on some of the previous pedals that we've plugged in we've probably guns the volume a bit more I'm gonna go eight point eight Oh naughty boy eight point eight three point eight three well I'm glad you specified that so you are you went from went from underwhelmed to overwhelmed yes Brian whelmed yes and amazing what more can do yes amazing what more can do it went from shallow said inve so deep it's a deep go deep or go home right pedal number five ready killer on tumors love it pedal is off at the moment okay now okay [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] it's good this is a real problem because they're all quite good but the thing is the differences are so tiny right it's almost as this for every year pebble companies get together and say which color cheap scream remaking this you doing a red tube screamer okay well I think we're gonna do a green one for classic okay some of the bad guys well we're gonna do a gold one all right so no one else do a gold tube screamer and exactly how I think it was so this one sounds like a red red tube yeah so I it's another eight point like two point eight eight point two point eight yeah it's just another good tube screamer it's just another another good tube screamer yeah I mean this is the problem eight point two Meg's eight here that was very specific excellent stuff I can tell you now I mean I'll give you a little bit of it that this particular pedal here apparently was made famous by John Mayer just saying just say I know that I didn't know that but there we go anyway tuner on and we will go to pedal number six okay yeah happy day I mean surely I'm it sure was the universe what happens if you put those on and sing a note on your thing isn't sing like an egg and see if we can see if it picks anything up from you I mean really hard to enjoy as I pathetically should it you know that's the note that kills Les Paul's for a split second there it was actually doing some what was I omitting mercy right come on three more to go and then it's lunchtime okay I reckon it'll sound like a tubes creeper it's a good shout it is a good shout as this is the ultimate tube screamer shootout okay ready again that's got a little bit of extra plus yes to a little bit of extra stability [Music] [Laughter] you [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] it's pies I will give you a bonus point two seven of a score if you can tell me the country of origin that this pedal is from just from the sound which double pedal is this six okay [Music] America and I think it's red red and then keep saying red marry one of them's red well although I have an intuition that the next one will be green so I just tell you right now that I'm afraid you've failed to the point seven of a bonus point question okay anyway let's move on to pedal number seven which will be green which will be what green could be it could be out on sorry fiddle this one we really do need to find a better way of cable management here don't anyway right you just to profile everything and put it okay we should absolutely you can step up and do a tube screamer the way that they've done it you can profile it just there you go temp screamer did it a tube have done it anyway started it right to your patch come on so we're let's push through push through I'm hungry okay number seven hit me yes so fuzzy for me for a number two fuzzy well which which pedal brand's reputation and sales are you about to destroy I wonder Rob give us a score please 5o company that's it or no no work for any pedal I thought I'm gonna make a pedal called the penultimate the penultimate the pedal to let drive that's not as good as the other name I came up with for you what was the other name but the captain's thing yeah what was that again I've forgotten captain's hand captain's hand no I think the penultimate drive because then in all reviews people will say this is the penultimate drive but you should know people going where's that but you should have a poem called the captain the captain's hands well we'll do it Rob you and me will make it happen okay come on right did I mention I'm hungry the Richter scale on the tube screamo scale she will scream Oh scales yeah fortunately this is the last pedal and then we will know conclusively who the winner is of the ultimate I'm good do you know what I'm gonna give you the color of this pedal hold on you know already okay help me this one is green all right [Music] less brightness please this is tearing my arrow [Music] [Applause] more Game four already this is right it's really good it's got its got a thing [Music] [Music] so here's the thing I really really like it and it's absolutely my kind of paddle nine point eight but it's not really a tube screamer uh it's something like achieve scream a bit it's not really a tube screamer my kind of thing not really a tube screamer so it's gonna be a bit controversial because I'm giving the winning score to a peddler I think is less like a tube screen with on the others Wow but maybe that's the whole point maybe that maybe with fella we're just like do a gold tube screamer this year well that concludes our shootout of nine of the best tube screamer clones ever would you like me to quickly recap for you so the first one you said was the first one you said was a bit bright bit affordable you gave it a 6.8 not off to a great start a proper the second one you said I think he's good pedal his little bright and they've got eight point two then it was like yeah I like that I'd like to do that slightly thicker eight point four then we were in to pedal number four I went from underwhelmed to overwhelmed amazing what more can do you give that there's slightly odd score of eight point eight three then we went it's just another good tube screamer eight point two eight into pedal number six okay I am writing bit of extra oh it's a bit that's a bit extra it was a bit like extra kind of my favorite so far it's from it's red and it's from America and I you gave it nine point three one four actually wasn't red it was green funnily enough and from Poland okay number seven you said was a bit fuzzy and fluffy don't you like it's too fuzzy he gave that five number eight you said that's a lot isn't it didn't like a bit I can't believe I'm right think I'm so sorry I didn't like it before but I like it now I already turned on yes that game that got an eight point one Ryan was potentially red which I will potentially you're right and finally you read it's really good it's got a thing it's my kind of thing it's not really a tube screamer and you gave it a whopping nine point eight eight that's almost I am going to reveal to you off the floor here which pedal lost run which pedal you are likely to be being endorsed by anytime soon so are you a fan of the JHS Banzai really not never never played it slide it possible obviously well I'm afraid everyone at JHS go and try harder because you lost however the winner the winner is is just purple bizarrely also in position 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 and 9 is just bonsai as in fact every single sound that you had [Laughter] [Laughter] much got loads of different yes it has 9 different modes hence the reason different pedals Fiddlesticks and in fairness to the guys at JHS they have tried to clone their 9 favourite so that just so you know I mean I because it's so which was the one I really liked ironically the one you really liked OD 1 is now OD one is the one you like the least so OD 1 says it's overall a brighter of course the real OD 1 sounds great I'm assuming OD one being the boss OD 1 oh do you want Cano yeah then I mean again you guys can see all the scores the one you like the most is a bizarrely JHS is own mod of the tube screamer I've been doing since the other one that was Gordon an X R which is the polish which i've never heard of so the viewer has been able to see this pedal all the way through this absolutely unknown right from yours and what else did you not like what does I think of it is 9 copy TS 9 you got an 8 point for the only two you didn't like was a ts7 yeah which I'll be honest you though I'm not familiar with it that is the K Akili then the cat yeah so they obviously despite the fact that Kili are a competing brand they've obviously JHS and Kili have agreed that it's okay for them oh yes love's there's a lot of love in the peddle world so there you go the ultimate tube screamer is all of them and we are now gonna go for lunch because just so I'm sure we can in order to livery while we're doing this three more to go and then it's lunch time I'm hungry did I mention I'm hungry because my stomach thinks drinks I know I couldn't even say it oh I hope in Rob Chapman and
