[Music] how's it going it's right today we are doing a little test between the ever-popular Jetboil cookstove system and one I've kind of pieced together with the Stanley Adventure cook set so if you're familiar with the Jetboil your burners down here you got your lid pop it off you can store your gas in there the stove comes right out of the inside cooks flicks to the bottom and you're ready to go you just screw this in and you're ready to start cooking like that now for the cook set the stanley cook said i got obviously didn't come with a stove i don't know if that's obvious but they don't sell it with it same kind of deal though pop the lid off got your lid right there I've got gas stored inside it it actually comes with two of these little cups I usually don't even carry any of them but I just have one in here so everything isn't rattling around got your lighter got your little stove now this is a BRS you can get these on Amazon for about 17 dollars kind of depends on who you're buying it from ultra light little little stove a lot of the ultra light backpackers like these things just because they're so small and so simple you just put it on top of your can of gas and you're good to go look at how tiny that thing is super light hardly weighs anything just take that screw it into your gas canister and you're ready to cook so I'm gonna go ahead and load these up with water this has a nice little measuring 8 ounce 12 a own 16 ounce 20 ounce on it the Jetboil just has a spot inside where it just says max safe fill two cups the reason for that is when this thing starts boiling it goes kind of crazy so you got to be pretty careful with it otherwise it probably just boil over this thing I haven't really filled it up past the halfway point but same kind of deal once it gets go and it goes pretty good so let me get some water in and we'll run a test here and see how these do all right so I've got my water in here two cups in each one of these gonna go ahead and get them lit up BRS gonna need a ladder for not too big of a deal okay get that thing cranking the Jetboil has a little lighter built into it okay get those cranked up oh we got to start our watch here not quite official time since I started it a little bit late but it's within a few seconds so it counts we'll go ahead and pop the lids on helps that water boil a little bit faster and we got everything cranky cranking it max efficiency here one cool thing about the Jetboil it's got this window right here it's already kind of steaming it actually changes colors so this one will turn orange when it's the water's hot enough to boil we have already got bubbles and steam coming out of the Jetboil minute in 21 seconds in we've got a few bubbles in the Stanley [Music] we get a little bit close look here minute 240 in Stanley's got a few bubbles in it that little VRS stove is just cranking at our Jetboil going we've got a lot of action in there we're already seeing bubbles coming off the bottom true to its name Jetboil is smoking here now the reason I wanted to do this outside because you see a lot of the tests inside and it cooks pretty fast ambient temperatures right now are probably about 40 degrees no wind so that's pretty good even still we're set up in this little kind of wind shelter space for the test kado we're at 2 minutes and 34 seconds Jim foils getting close I'd say it's about 10 seconds off of oil in here little BRS Stanley Sena as you can see it's not quite as efficient just because it's so open air down here I mean that flames really cooking but it's having a hard time because nothing's really containing it the Jetboil has got its little heat coils keeps everything kind of contained and there we go it is ready to cook so three minutes in three minutes and 20 seconds at forty degrees in the outside this thing's pretty setup lagging a little bit behind here with the BRS [Laughter] okay that is sufficiently hot case or Jetboil is done ultra hot in there well one thing I do like about the Jetboil if you're making some tea or coffee or something the lid has a little drink spout you can drink right out of this thing which is pretty nice Stanley you're gonna have to pour whatever you have into your cup because that lip is gonna be way too hot it's just steel stainless steel okay so we're at about five and a half minutes here we got some pretty good action going on here that water is definitely hot enough to cook with you can see it start to roll up to the surface so you know a couple minutes longer with the BRS but for $17 you can't really go wrong I mean it's a pretty sweet little deal ultra lightweight ultra portable you're cooking your food you can't really complain about that so once again what I really like about this the Jetboil is it does have this neoprene cover you can just pick it up handle it even while it's hot with the stanley got to make sure you have this handle I mean you don't really want to be touching that too much it's pretty warm so what I did when I was out camping and cooking with it I just had like a sock or something I would just put around it to hold actually feels nice you know keeping it warm eating your oatmeal or drinking your coffee whatever you want to do with it so this system that I put together yeah your little stove that goes right on top of your canister so that cost $17 this cost me $15 a little bit less than that at Walmart it's 25 bucks if you buy to REI definitely save yourself the ten dollars by the exact same thing for ten dollars cheaper so $32 for this cook setup right here a hundred bucks for the Jetboil system it's highly efficient I don't know if you could cook much more it's just made generally for boiling water this one I've had good luck doing pasta dishes and whatnot I could probably do the same thing in this it just tends to get really really hot really really fast it's either all the way on or all the way off in terms of price I don't really know some people like this it's it's simple it's easy it's all together you don't have to go searching for a pot and then a cook set or a pot and then a stove it just comes all at once whereas this one you know it appeals to a lot of people because they could you know a lot of people like to find the geekiest thing they can find like this is the smallest tiniest stove I could ever find and this was a really good kick set for a really good deal so I think I think both sets are good and I think they both appeal to a different person so I mean depends on who you are and what you want but I think they're both perfectly fine this one obviously takes a couple minutes longer to cook but I don't really think that's that big of a deal especially when you're only spending $32 for your whole setup
