in this video we'll take a look at the brand new jetboil stash so this is jetboil's brand new compact lightweight stove system which is 40 lighter than any of their current stoves as you're probably aware jetboil are one of the market leaders for this kind of canister stove this kind of stove is very efficient with the flux ring technology means the boil times are very quick and they use very little fuel but one of the main criticisms of the jetboil is that they're bulky and quite heavy but now jetboil have brought the stash to the party and as you can see it's a much more compact unit so just for comparison the minimo here weighs in at 493 grams whereas the stash weighs in at 201 grams so that is well under half the weight of one of these it's also going to take a lot less room in your pack because it's much more compact and everything that you need is kept inside this unit so i haven't done a specific unboxing video but this is what the packaging looks like it comes with all the instructions that you need to get started and there's also a little gas canister look-alike trinket box i would like to make it clear that jetboil did send me this unit to test but other than that there's no specific agenda and i will tell you exactly what i think of it so jetboiler said that this is the lightest backpacking stove system ever made so without the gas canister it weighs in at 201 grams but it's still got plenty of features packed into it so i'll start off with the part itself as you can see it's got the flux ring technology there so that allows for a very efficient boil time it comes with a handle that you just push in and then fold it out and it clips into place so that is really sturdy it does come with a flexible plastic lid which has got a sipping mouthpiece there so you could drink straight from it if you wanted to the lid does clip on very firmly but this is the genius bit the canister clips inside as well so you can hold the 100 gram jet fuel or jet power canister you'll probably use other brands as well if you wanted that just clips in that's not going anywhere so it won't be rattling around inside your pot says the stove comes with a little bag even tells you you know which way to put it in the bag there's also instructions on how to fit everything into the cook pot so very handy information on there and finally inside we have one of those standard pot support systems well for the canister don't know about you but these never want to go in well as quick as that normally for me so inside the pot itself we do have markers so you can measure out your water the capacity of the pot is 800 milliliters by the way the flux ring on the bottom of the system does make this a very efficient stove according to jetboil specs this will boil water exactly the same speed as the jetboil flash so let's take a look at the burner itself the burner itself is made from titanium which makes it incredibly lightweight but that does mean that it doesn't come with features like a built-in igniter and there's no micro regulator in here which does help out with colder weather there's a little lip on here so you can just pull the legs out you can also see on there there's some little cutouts on each leg so they allow for the pot to sit on there so that it's not gonna slide off the burner when you're using it the burner does screw onto the canister very easily i do like how the pot just nestles in those little cutouts there on the legs so one improvement that i think jetboil could make to the stove is they could put like a little lip around the top of the burner here or like some fins like on the msr pocket rocket 2 and that will allow for better wind protection i did take this stove with me to the pete district last week and it was incredibly windy so we did have to batten down behind some rocks you know to make sure that the stove got protection from the wind i'll make a quick brew so i'm putting 400 milliliters in here that's about halfway in the pot put the lid on and wait a couple of minutes that's a raging boil and that took two minutes 40 seconds but again there's nothing too scientific it's about five degrees outside i don't know what the temperature the water is to start off with so it's quick enough anyway it's literally a minute or so and the stove is cold to touch already so that is because it's titanium it gets rid of the heat really quickly so that's excellent the pot however is still warm if that looks like it's some kind of anodized aluminium but the burner i can hold that now no problem at all i think it's great the jetboil offering something a little bit different to those that don't want to carry something big and bulky but if you don't mind carrying a little bit of extra weight you might want to bring a frying pan so i'm going to try the skillet on here and see how that fares so i haven't tried this before but i know on the minimal these little ridges sit onto the pot support so it means a sturdier surface for your skillet yeah it's not too bad it's not quite as solid as on the minimo but it's not going to slip off just see how it fares at frying a couple of eggs if you've not used these little nalgene bottles before these are great for you know for storing eggs in come on the simmer control is not as good as the minimal but you can get a low flame on it if you're careful and that'll do it for me so overall i'm pretty impressed with the new jetboil stash i really like the design and how compact it is having a separate pot and burner gives you a lot more options when it comes to cooking packing it all the way makes for a really compact system i'll show you that in a moment or two i think it'd be a great option for people using dehydrated meals or maybe these oil in the bag things because it will take one of those inside i think it'll put up a good challenge the msr pocket rocket deluxe cook system they're going to be about the similar price which is not cheap by the way i think around 120 dollars but this is a lighter weight system with quicker boil times however if the wind picks up a bit i do think you're going to need some kind of screen to protect the flame i suppose i better show you how all this packs away first up i'm just going to close the legs on the stove and then i'm going to unscrew the burner from the gas i like how this one didn't squirt a load of gas at me like some stoves do we get the bag it does tell you in the little picture which way it goes so feet first and then there's a little toggle to close things off now we're going to need to take off the can support and if you look at the picture the can support goes in first and the burner just goes down the side there the gas canister clips into the lid very easily and then the mouthpiece here goes where you've put the burner as you can see the canister is offset and that allows you to be able to clip the lid on and then everything's secured in place just press in the ends on the handle allows you to fold it back and that is it job done what is also great is that when you shake it it doesn't rattle about too much there's a slight bit of noise with the can support in the bottom but you could wrap that in tissue paper if you wanted to so that was the jetboil stash let me know in the comments below what you think of it i will be using this stove a lot more on my future trips especially when i'm lightweight camping as this is compact lightweight and very efficient i hope you found this video useful thanks again for watching and i'll see you next time
