Jesus Calms the Storm/ Trust Jesus/Mark 4:36-41

[Music] hi everyone welcome back o did you hear that sounds like a Storm's rolling in I better get my coat on so have you ever experienced a really bad storm maybe one with lots of thunder or lightning or torrential rain or wind storms like that can be pretty scary right well in today's lesson we'll hear about a time when Jesus and his disciples got caught in a really bad storm and we'll see what happened when Jesus use some powerful words [Music] in the Holy Bible there are four gospels some of you already know them they're the books of Matthew Mark Luke and John and in each of them they tell about the life of Jesus the son of God the savior of the world and if you've read any of the gospels you wouldn't have to look very far to find a story about Jesus and water you know like there's the time that Jesus went to the well and the woman gave him water or the time he got baptized in water there's a time he did the miracle walking on the water that's a cool one there's also the time he helped the fishermen to catch huge Nets of fish when they weren't able to catch any previously well you get the idea today we'll talk about another situation involving Jesus and water in this event Jesus and his disciples were in a boat heading to the other side of the lake but as they head across a really bad storm suddenly comes upon them what will they do will they survive let's watch stories of the Bible Jesus Cals the storm this is Jesus heyo who is the Son of God and the savior of the world while Jesus was on Earth he taught everyone about God's love and healed people from their sickness he did many miracles like walking on water oh he go and even raised people from the dead wooo one day after preaching to a crowd of people Jesus said to his disciples Let's cross to the other side of the lake you got it so they got into a boat and started out other boats followed him too and as they sailed across Jesus fell asleep uh-oh but soon a fierce storm came down on the lake the boat was filling with water and they were in real danger the disciples went and woke Jesus up shouting hey wake up save us we are going to drown don't you care if we drown Jesus responded why are you afraid you have so little faith then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves saying silence be still suddenly the wind stopped and there was a great calm then he asked them where is your faith the disciples were terrified and amazed who is this man they asked each other when he gives a command even the wind and waves obey him so when Jesus and his disciples went out into the boat that storm came up Suddenly it was strong and powerful and it was threatening to destroy them as you saw the disciples became scared and started started to panic they must have forgotten who Jesus was and all the amazing things that he had already done you know we're a lot like the disciples when difficulties and challenges suddenly come into our lives we often become afraid too but like the disciples we need to remember that Jesus is with us just as he was in a boat with the disciples during the storm so he is with us as Believers as we Face life storms and difficulties and because Jesus is with us we don't have to panic no matter what's going on in our lives because Jesus is with us we don't have to be afraid he can calm our fears he can help us not to be afraid of Life storms of sickness of bullies of school or anything and when we're Cal we can help others around us to be C too we can show them that Jesus can be trusted and that he is with us you know there are times in our lives when we do get scared when we forget that Jesus is with us just the way the disciples got scared when they were in the boat but the disciples did something pretty smart when they were scared they ran to Jesus and they asked for his help and what did Jesus do he helped them immediately he spoke those powerful words quiet be still and everything calm down Jesus can stop a storm by his words he has power over nature and he has power over everything we need to trust in Jesus's power he is more than able to help us we too can go to Jesus no he's not right next to us but we can go to him through prayer and we can ask him to help us if Jesus was able to rescue those disciples from that storm he is more than able to help us through life storms let's listen to a song right now to remind us all will never [Music] end I'm going to give you all the glory I'm going to give you everything I let my life reflect all that you are you are you are you are Jesus my Savior you are Jesus you're my best Redeemer you love Jesus Will Never End will never Never End will never end will [Music] never let's pray together God we thank you very much for this lesson and for this example of what happened with the disciples help us God to put our trust and faith in Jesus your son and in you too God help us God to stay calm even when difficulties come into our lives even if they're bad or unexpected or scary help us God to stay calm and have your peace because you are with us and if we do get scared may we remember to go to you in prayer and ask for your help we know you will help us and you promise to always be with us in Jesus name we pray amen so the next time you get caught in one of Life storm and you're filled with fear remember that Jesus is with you and he will help you you need to stay calm and put your trust in him [Music]
