tyler texas some years ago when schambach was alive and there was a man there by the name of james mccurdy and he sung this song and that man spend time with me and my wife every night talking with us and playing with our kids he is deceased now but he sung that song in that meeting and dear god it got down in my belly i want to sing the words to that song operate on me dear lord [Music] operate on me dear lord almighty god [Applause] operate on me take out what shouldn't be operate on me who would say this morning you know pastor sean you're going over the fruits of the spirit versus the works of the flesh and as the more we get into the word the holy spirit is showing me things in my own life that needs improving and who would say this morning pastor i need the holy ghost to operate on me i need him to take out which shouldn't be i need him to operate on me my god i dare someone to lift your hands heaven and say jesus lay your hands jesus lay your hands on me i need you lord jesus lay your hands on me glory to god lay your hands on me take out what shouldn't be jesus lay your hands on me come on sing it jesus jesus lay your hands on me mighty god mighty god jesus lay your hands on take out what should it be operate on me [Music] father god in the name of jesus christ on this morning we present our bodies this morning being past amy and your wonderful people under the sound of our voice we present our bodies as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto you which is our reasonable act of worship search us oh god anything in us that grieves you anything in us that displeases you take it out of us lord take it right out of our hearts out of our spirit out of our mind take it out of us we give you permission as we go into the word this morning work on us change us transform us renew our minds and crucify this flesh in jesus name we pray operate on me operate on me jesus [Music] dear lord listen as we go back into the work of god on this morning on the series fruits of the spirit versus the works of the flesh i want to take you into our foundational scriptures as we talk about jealousy can ruin you jealousy can ruin you our foundational text which is galatians chapter 5 verse 19-21 when you follow the desires of your sinful nature the results are very clear sexual immorality impurity lustful pleasures idolatry sorcery hostility quarreling jealousy jealousy that we're going to talk about this morning jealousy yes you're right outbursts of anger selfish ambition dissension division envy we're talking about jealousy which is really envy drunkenness wild parties and other sins like these the apostle paul said let me tell you again as i have before that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the kingdom of god the word jealousy strongly warning someone else's position advantages or possessions suspicious or unduly suspicious or fearful of being displaced by a rival covetous you can you can be jealous of someone else having a a good husband you can be jealous of someone having a good wife you can be jealous of someone having good kids you can be jealous jealous of someone who work who working with you thinking they're about to rise to the top and pass you up jealousy comes in all different forms some husbands are jealous of their wives and just does not trust them some wives are jealous and suspicious of their husbands and just don't trust them i mean jealousy come in all forms all shapes and all sizes and we have to be aware of jealousy you've got to be careful that you don't allow this manifestation of your flesh to take over and you know jealousy has destroyed marriages jealousy have destroyed friendships jealousy have destroyed ministries and broke up churches are you listening to me and we've got to be aware that this is a work of the flesh it's a work of the flesh and there is a spirit of jealousy you talk about a double whammy there lord of mercy so you've got to take you've got to take jealousy very serious because jealousy brings with it other heinous sins like murder are you hearing me now watch this i want to take you into the book of first samuel chapter 18 verses 1 through 14. and we see jealousy and full manifestation between king saul and the up and coming david we see jealousy with the pharisees they were jealous of christ's ministry and how successful he was the bible says even pilate knew that it we it was because of envy they wanted to destroy jesus they were envious envy is what caused christ to go to the cross the pharisees were jealous of him they were envious of them of course ultimately we knew it was because of the sin of the world that jesus went to the cross but envy aided getting him on that cross the pharisees were envious they were jealous of jesus lord have mercy they hated that the cars flocked to his ministry they hated how people would talk about the miracles of the lord jesus they couldn't handle it instead they go and ask him how are you doing this show us teach us but instead they wanted to murder him and put him out of the way first samuel chapter 18 verse 1 says after david had finished talking with saul he met jonathan the king's son there was an immediate bond between them for jonathan loved david from that day on saul kept david with him and would not let him return home and jonathan made a solemn pact with david because he loved him as he loved himself because david had just finished killing goliath and taking care of one of the king's most vicious adversaries he had i mean goliath had israel shaking in their boots for 40 days and 40 nights he had them paralyzed with fed was demonic and god used david a 17 year old boy who had a relationship with god who had just been anointed by the prophet samuel david said who is this uncircumcised philistine glory to god he told king saul let no man's heart fail him i'm 17 and i'm going to take care of you ahead of me you know it sounded like a big joke to saul at first but david somehow convinced him and he let david god and david knock goliath out with a slingshot and a stone and then took goliath's own sword and took his head clean off lord have mercy now watch this so king saul's son by the name of jonathan him and david became best friends jonathan sealed the pack by taking off his robe and giving it to david together with his tunic sword bow and belt whatever saul asks david to do david did it successfully so saul made him a commander over the men of war an appointment that was welcomed by the people in saul's offices now watch this when the victorious israelite army was returning home after david had killed the philistine which was golan women from all the towns of israel came out to meet king saul they sang and danced for joy with tambourines and symbols how can they not dance with joy their greatest adversary had been conquered and defeated it was worth shouting and dancing over this was their song saul has killed his thousands and david his tens of thousands saul has killed his thousands and david his ten thousands this made saul very angry what's this he said they credit david with ten thousands and me with only thousands next they'll be making him their king watch this so from that time on saul kept a jealous eye on david saul had his man watching david at every turn do you see this that's what we talk about the pharisees they watch jesus that's exactly what saul was doing with david he was jealous of david and watch this watch this now the very next day a tormenting spirit from the lord overwhelmed saul and he began to rave in his house like a madman david was playing the hop remember david used to play the hop so the evil spirit would be driven away from saul david was playing the hop as he did each day but saul had a spare in his hand lord of mercy and he suddenly hurled it at david intending to pin him to the wall but david escaped him twice saul tried to kill him this is what jealousy will drive a person to do this is why you've got to subdue your flesh jealousy will cause you to attack people jealousy will cause you to murder somebody he threw a javelin at david and tried to kill him david was his son-in-law for crying out loud david was the one who took out king saul's worst enemy and you know what amazes me with this spirit of jealousy why didn't king saul hurl that spare i'd go lying he wouldn't do it because he fed goliath but little innocent david who killed goliath fuss all saul became so jealous of david's success that he tried to kill his own son-in-law tried to pin him to the wall with the javelin that was jealousy it was a spirit of jealousy and it was the work of the flesh called jealousy my god saul was then afraid of david for the lord was with david and had turned away from saul finally saul sent him away and appointed him commander over over a thousand men and david faithfully led his troops into battle david continued to succeed in everything he did for the lord was with him and we know saul pursued david he pursued david and tried to kill him dave king saul was so jealous of david that he he ran david out of his palace took david's wife remember saul said whoever killed a giant you have my daughter's hand in marriage he gave david macau as a wife and king saul took david's wife from him after he put david on the run and gave david's wife to another man and that's enough to go to war right there the devil is a liar you're going to take who now there's going to be bloodshed for sure you ain't taken please give me a break here come on somebody and he got david on the run for years he had his entire army and what's amazing is he he wouldn't command this army to fight goliath because they were all afraid of goliath but god's man of faith and power the one who was anointed chosen and called for such a time as this king saul went after him had the whole army chasing david tried to kill david tried to set him up tried to annihilate him and finally god judged saul and wiped him out and allow him to die in battle and david ascended finally to the throne listen listen saints you've got it listen jealousy can ruin you it brought saul to ruin he was not only disobedient but he was ferociously jealous of david and pursued david his own son-in-law accused david of all kinds of things that was not true tried to kill him tried to annihilate him but god was on david's side oh come on lift your hands to heaven if god be for you who can be against you and if our god is for us my god if our god is for us what could ever stop us and if our god is with us what could stand against come on somebody what could stand he's for you this morning if our garden and empire god is for us what could ever stop us and if our god is with us what could stand against come on we could stand [Music] if our god if our goddess for us what could ever stop us and if our god is with us what could stand against what could stand everybody shut up if our god then empowered god corners for us what could ever stop us and if i got it with us what could stand [Music] come on i got his greater and i got his crater and i got it stronger god you are higher than any other i call this healer his awesomeness power i got i got his great up and i got his greater and i got is stronger god you are higher than any other and our god is healer he's awesome in power our god if our god is for us and if our god is for us listen me and pastor amy cover you in the blood of jesus we cover you this morning we hide you under the shadow of the wings of the almighty god and we rebuke the spirit of jealousy we rebuke the works of the flesh called jealousy we rebuke it in the name of jesus crucify the works of the flesh of jealousy crucify it god nail it to the cross of calvary cleanse us cleanse us [Music] work on us jesus wash us clean of jealousy wash us don't even allow a tiny bit of trace of jealousy to be left in us wash us clean purge us deliver us from the works of the flesh the apostle paul said who shall deliver us from this body of wickedness he said i thank my god through jesus christ our lord jesus is the answer thank you lord
