JAMES: This video has been sponsored by
Expressvpn. LINUS: We should get started what do I do? JAMES: Hey Jarvis, initiate barn door protocol! Hey Jarvis, make me a coffee! It's just working! Welcome to Make It Real, I'm your host,
the Hacksmith. In the last episode, Linus Sebastian from Linus tech tips came to
visit us and helped us upgrade our server infrastructure, which as you know
is an essential part of having a high-tech Stark Industries like facility
in fact he made me do the upgrades myself to learn a bit more about
industrial grade computer components. If you haven't seen that video make sure
you check it out, but upgrading the server that's only step one you know
Tony Stark and Stark Industries are a huge inspiration for us here at Hacksmith
industries so we thought, what would Tony do? The next logical step is giving it an AI
system like Jarvis to help control the facility and we decided to build a main
interface for it in the door of the server room, a smart door if you will.
But since Linus made me upgrade the server I think it's only fair I make
Linus help us build it. But first... This video has been sponsored by Expressvpn
the internet is a fantastic resource. We've learned tons of knowledge on it that
has helped us create these projects on our channel it truly connects us all
including hackers trying to steal our information. And with tons of people
working from home now during this pandemic it's important to protect your
works information too - you wouldn't want to be responsible for losing confidential
data, a VPN is a virtual private network that creates a secure tunnel between
your device and the internet without a VPN a hacker can easily steal your
information off the same Wi-Fi network or even track you online. That includes
access to your passwords emails or even financial details, Expressvpn encrypts
your connection with the highest standards of encryption available, it
also gives you unrestricted access to all parts of the Internet because you
can spoof your location using it. It's super fast and easy to use
they have 24/7 customer support and it's the top-rated VPN by TechRadar, Cena, the
Verge and more. I personally use it whenever I'm online even at home it
hides my data for my internet service provider any would be hackers and it
protects my privacy so I don't even get targeted ads anymore.
Plus I can always binge watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia which isn't
available in Canada find out how you can get three months
by clicking the link in the description box below. Expressvpn.com/hacksmith So we've actually gone ahead and gotten all the pieces together to make a really
fancy aluminium door for the server room complete with a built-in touchscreen for
monitoring all the different server features to make sure everything's up
and running. I've got all the pieces it's just like IKEA furniture.
LINUS: Okay perfect... Oh no wait... JAMES: Alright let's do it! Alright so this is our server room door, ready? LINUS: This is the Jarvis door?
JAMES: Yep
LINUS: I'm excited. DUM-E my tools please! I hate you so much... H-he's trying, he's trying... LINUS: We should get started, what do I do? JAMES: Alright so we've got the face plate we've got the real door,
I think step one is attaching this to the door. So let's grab it. LINUS: Lift with your back not with your legs remember. You're gonna have to carry it yourself sorry. That's the real key, that's how to
lift safely, don't lift at all! There we go... Hey look at that! The holes line up
like nobody's business. JAMES: I think we at least push these in. And then we'll see what happens from there. LINUS: Sorry Linus, we
didn't have enough power tools to go around so, this is like elementary school
all over again, you're gonna have to use the crayons everyone else gets markers.
JAMES: You gotta graduate from the ratchet. LINUS: All right good job everyone good project love it it's a aluminium door. JAMES: Alright so there's two things we can do right now... Either install the TV
or we can glue down our frosted acrylic. LINUS: I vote for things that take time to set. James, do you need something level? Because I think I got you taken
care of here. So this: not very level. This... extremely not level. Is he level-headed
though? Shoot... I'm sorry I too am familiar with tools, I've seen
them once or twice. Okay ready? That is the most
unceremonious peel that I've ever seen. Okay so, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on... This is a square... And this is a circle... JAMES: And it's in a square hole. LINUS: And it's in a square hole so it needs to go about... Here! Just, right there- right? Right there! How's that look? JAMES: Well it's there now... LINUS: Look at him, he's only half red because of the sunburn the other half is: He just put
it on not centered! I'm having too much fun with this already. Stop! Okay, alright, what's next? JAMES: Let's flip it over again.
LINUS: Oh we want to rotate it. Don't drop it! WAIT!
JAMES: I got it, I got it! LINUS: I'm having so much fun today this is great. I'm gonna do two washers, they're gonna be friends. It's like washer SLI. JAMES: The magic number is five washers. LINUS: Five! Ah-ah-ah...! Does Sesame Street go after you for that? Oh boy, we're going impact driver style. What are you driving into? Like is the hinge there or something? Okay here, hold on a second.
Look this has been a prank all along they gave me all the right stuff let me
just do this for you, okay? You know what? I am confused too okay how does this work? So I checked the washer
and then I take the washers and I try to... No they're not the same size holes! You have one mismatched washer I can see why this
triggers you. So now... I just apply a little bit of tech tips juice. Heeeey! It's not about whether you finish first or second it's just about making sure
everybody finishes. Don't miss the tour of the studio here by the way on my channel. JAMES: Alright let's flip it over. LINUS: Hi mom I'm on TV! JAMES: So remember how
you said how cool it would be to add a touch screen? LINUS: He's trying to smile but
he's dead inside Oh yes, go ahead!
JAMES: We got a touchscreen. We had it Linus... LINUS: We did, we had it too much... You know I would have
gotten a smart biometric handle for my server room but I thought it was kind of
doorky... JAMES: You're worse than JT... Alright so the door is done the server is installed now
I just have to put the two together and hopefully this nightmare will be over. LINUS: Yeah, sounds good! This is it! The fireproof,
waterproof, NAS... The only problem is it needs to go up there next to the
internet box as I've been informed that it's called I got the power adapter and
cable. JAMES: There we go! LINUS: You guys own your own scissor lift? Of course you do. It's the best thing ever. You can climb up all the way now and then I'll pass it to you over this little gap... LINUS: Why don't you just lift the Skyjack?! JAMES: I-I will I'm just... LINUS: Wow I could easily put a foot through the showroom over there. JAMES: Yeah there's a little issue with that. Alright! LINUS: So because this is in a separate unit of the building and quite far away from
where the fires are normally lit, the idea is that as long as the data is
duplicated here even in the event of some kind of an emergency or a disaster
like a fire it should still be safe. Okay- too high! You're just showing off how high the scissor lift goes at this point. It would not be a problem if I accidentally knocked out your internet for the office right? I'm like kind of jelly right now because I don't even have one of these. Everything here will take
out your network connection so I'm sorry but it's going down, this probably has
the fastest reboot time. Huh it's fixed! Now everything is battery backed up
but not in a way I would consider to be acceptable. JAMES: We gotta turn it on!
LINUS: You want to do the honors? Wow you went up kind of another foot
when I was sort of already looking in your direction and that harness is real
junk enhancing I will say that much... JAMES: We got flashing light! LINUS: Oh, flashing something. JAMES: Oh solid light, we got status indicators we've got green LEDs I
think we're good! LINUS: In the meantime! JAMES: We'll set it on the bottom! LINUS: We'll put it on the bottom! Now we need power cables and Ethernet and Alex is probably our best bet for
where to find that. Yo Alex! Two power cords for ya' The SSDs are running a raid z1, so what that means is as we discussed
before you could have any one of them fail, all the data is there, zero workflow
interruption and if you wanted to upgrade it all you have to do is buy
eight drives at a time and configure more raid-z ones. If you filled this
thing you could lose up to four drives as long as each one is from a separate
Vdev without losing any data. JAMES: That's awesome! LINUS: While Alex is setting up the software on
the fireproof NAS to make sure that those drives don't have any smart errors
or anything like that, I figured you and I could throw these into the dungeon, Now all you have to do is make sure that one of the new 16 terabyte drives is your
parody drive because otherwise the parody drive can limit the maximum
capacity of all the other drives in unraid and then you can continue to
add drives and any mishmash of capacities and configurations that you
want and keep adding more storage. JAMES: Awesome! LINUS: All that's left now then is to put the door on, I'm gonna leave that to you! Do you need a hand? Look at these arms, isn't
that incredible? Gorgeous! I feel like I'm on a union job site. Yeah good work, yeah,
looks good! JAMES: Alright! Moment of truth! LINUS: Goo- Good job everyone! LINUS: WOOOOW!
JAMES: It's just working! LINUS: So up at the top is pulsewave, one of
the server's has been added so far so you can see the status of the server
your uptime, CPU usage, memory availability... Super cool so that's
actually the new one 45 drives right there and then this is cool down here
you've got glasswire so that's gonna be monitoring your network activity in and
out once that's reconfigured. JAMES: Links in the description below! Up here we have a
little speaker and RGB light which is actually connected to our home
automation system we're using openhab for interfacing with all the lights in
the studio and we'll be able to- it'll be really awesome for when we're filming
certain things out there because we can literally pull up our phone and be like
alright all lights off except for this one and stuff like that. This is actually
our visualization of our Jarvis AI for the garage and what will happen is
actually when there's like an error on the server this is actually going to
change colors so it can go to yellow or red if it's a critical thing- LINUS: Can it get mad?! JAMES: Yeah it
will actually get more aggressive so like when you touch it, it'll be like NYHA!
Almost like Venom symbiote kind of even. LINUS: So anyone could know if there's a
problem in there?
JAMES: Exactly! LINUS: And then just call the IT department like they would anyway. JAMES: Maybe
we'll even get this to call the IT department itself. Well that wraps it up
thank you so much for your help Linus really appreciate it I don't know
if we could've done it without you. But now we've got our own Jarvis! LINUS: This has been such a blast! JAMES: Anyways I'll just lock up the server room with the fingerprint scanner and we
can head on out. LINUS: You didn't put the thing in yet it's totally fake. JAMES: Get out of here! LINUS: See you guys...! Alright it's been a few weeks since Linus was here helping us set up our new server we've got the software worked out now so it's time to
show you what our Jarvis can do. Now the easiest thing to integrate into our
openhab environment for Jarvis to control is the thermostat! Hey Jarvis it's getting kind of hot in here! Wait a sec that's pretty cold, turn
the fire on! Alright let's get some work done. Hey Jarvis, can you dim my
lights turn, on the arc reactor, office sign and play me some sick beats to
design some things to... Now how about security? Hey Jarvis, initiate barn-door protocol! I'd like to see Thanos get through that garage door! Man, I could use a coffee... Hey Jarvis, make me a coffee! Now, DUM-E is actually made up of two
different robots an intelligent fully autonomous AGV from ClearPath robotics
which features 3d cameras, lidar and runs Ros the robot operating system. It can fully 3d map the facility and we can tell it to go anywhere! DUM-E on the
other hand is a remote-controlled arm which could be automated in the future with
more sensors. Th-thanks DUM-E... Hmm, just the way I like it! And of course, Jarvis can also control the lights. Hey Jarvis, can you turn off
the lights? Well, thanks for watching!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASS!
