you sometimes you need to rest you need to have that sleep so sometimes I had to chill out and learn that go in the direction because I'm I needed rest instead of just speeding working hard working investment account you learn about that stuff and I really got interested in that like six months ago kind of learning like if I start investing now it's at 17 18 I'm able to you know this is like over the country and Jared before he moved down to Southern California he would always say you know I want to I want to move down there and go to modern day like Deb and this and that he would always come to the games when they were in town and watch he worked out that whole summer he was in the gym got better both Shay Frazee has been around all my family and Jared's family he's been around all of our boys since they were young he worked out every single one of them and uh first of all he works at this so he's working basketball training kids all day but he always take time for Devin early in the morning 5 36 he'd be in the gym with Devin so he would do his stuff and then later on at night after school he'd be in the gym with Devin you know 10 30 11 o'clock at night at modern day just Jared did see that Jared when Jared was around it he was in the gym with Devin but like that just translated into when Jared got down here that's exactly what Jared did and then gym with Shay three times a week even though he lives in Corona and she lives in Orange County if there's traffic it could take anywhere from an hour to hour and a half but you know the pjf they go to Shea so it's a full day I mean it's and when you're talking about driving out to Paul you know that could take Jared two hours so he's getting up there in you know six o'clock in the morning doing his routine driving out to Paul then Paul to [ __ ] that's an everyday routine yep beautiful don't write anything what I don't shake the Polaroids and never shake the ball around the shape what this is the part that goes in many more opportunities in Southern California the basketball the basketball side of it is just you know there's so so many good players so many good high schools you know that's that's in in Northern California it's a little it's a little different you know it's it's a lot harder you know to get to get recognized and all that everything you wanted is on the other side of winning one bad play for winners does one now you're down and you got a chance to dispel it you understand me you got to compete harder we gotta get through this woe is me making shots does not make us play hard play hard two to three well I mean we're not this isn't all the players obviously there's other circuits there's players in college right now that will be in the draft class of the current you know one and done kids there's International Players we don't see um this is just like I think a decent percentage of the NBA is here how how does that maybe 50 probably guess like somewhere around 50 of the NBA played pretty much as good as the stars when they were younger some guys just kind of ascend from the top the entire time and are just more talented the whole time I don't know what percentage that would be but some guys end up ascending like you know where you don't see it coming seems like those guys have a better ability to regulate their emotions through adversity and maybe they like basketball more or not like basketball but like to are willing to just bang their head against the wall to get better well like a lot of times you get in a situation and you're going through some adversity and it's hard to figure it out and you know they didn't like let their adversity they hit or the struggle or whatever get them to stop trying to get better this isn't like in a vacuum where anybody can do it they already had a ton of talent to start with there's no one even John Morant like you know he was probably really really really good in high school right I had an iPhone 7. I had an iPhone 7. what do you go now you go to 10 now I got a 12 now an interesting one would be Jason Preston and kept finding places to play and then he just made some big jumps guys start to process faster than the other people and they start to perform things with like more with a higher level of accuracy and execution and consistency in the other people which is usually like uh I don't ninth grade 10th grade or so there's like this this pretty decent funnel that's been created where it's like these guys can possibly get there and just to get in that funnel you have to be extremely lucky you have to be physically like above a minimum standard you have to have like you probably have to have a decent amount of training if you're not like physically even morally then the you know minimum standard um and so yeah you just generally have to be lucky to get in the funnel if you can get in the funnel and that's like love to begin with and you're not just like a complete freak of you know like like position Apollo banchero chat hunger and those guys are like freaks right they're they're just so physically gifted and that includes like their ability to deal with the pressure and you know coordination and all those things they're all dealing with heavy amounts of pressure if you can get in the funnel and you cannot get distracted it can be like where you end up going to college where you end up going to high school your relationship with your parents like your relationship with your peers girls your friends your whatever if you can like avoid being derailed by those things I think like the most important thing is just to outlast everybody in that it's more of a outlasting people like everyone thinks it's like the hardest worker gets there and I think working hard is great but there's a lot of people out there working hard and there's only 24 hours in a day so like no one has more hours it's more about the consistency of outlasting people not everyone loves it like that not everyone really loves to be good at basketball or to like get better like that and then you know a lot of people even when they get close or they make it they don't love it like that so you can end up look at Fred Van Lee like for all intents and purposes you shouldn't have made the NBA outside of the fact that he just outlasted everybody and kept getting better and you know like he use for how to make something motivating obviously money is intrinsic motivation or extrinsic motivation right it's something outside and like low in the games intrinsic motivation and I think science would tell us that intrinsic motivation has more power and more lasting power but you can also attach money to something intrinsic like the health and well-being of your family or your general self-worth and you know attitude about yourself or I'm sure there's many things that people attach the money to dude it was so cold last night I had to put on both sweaters oh [ __ ] now it was crazy it says 73 in here that's a lie 65 here and then I think like there's there's so many things you can't control like and the pressure like as you get closer and closer the competition gets better and better the concentration of the competition gets better and better if your margin for error gets smaller and smaller and like you know your ability to perform certain people I guess you call like a wobble when pressure gets to a certain level like that was one of my big problems was I would just wobble it was hard for me to stay as focused like to stay focused the pressure would get to me in certain things someone has their blinds open they're just staring down anyway is it badly by the pool thank you [Music] foreign [Music] game is great and everything but you know if you if you get a vacuum if you if you get someone two people seemingly equally talented Ones playing for the love of the game but if you need crumbles Under Pressure one's playing strictly for the money and as the pressure heats up he gets better I'm taking that dude every time and there's many more factors but that would be just like my first thoughts on that idea and it's interesting with nil as you get so like money's already in it there's no one here playing strictly For the Love of the Game because there's too much money involved right now you're playing for your ranking right and you're playing for your followers and you're playing for um you know the possibility of getting nil deals like independent nil deals like Jared gets with Brands like if all that is on the table by the time you're in high school and you can have by the time you have an Instagram account you're playing for money because as soon as you can get to x amount of followers you can get a car deal if you're ranked in a way they were playing for money before that because you're trying to build your resume to be drafted one day you know the draft you get paid different amounts based on where you're drafted so yeah no one's really playing to love the game solely there are people that love the game more than other people um but I think that's a really tough thing to quantify because you know basketball it's just like part of the package is status and Cloud you know your image and your brand now that's like part of the whole deal I so play to play today Friday I fly out Saturday morning and come back Saturday know we've done Elite 100 top 100 we've done all the sessions High School summer ball camps all that so it's just like coming from last summer where we kind of just train train train trained and then played to this summer where it's just like play play play play play play play play oh the whole summer I mean we're still not even done we both have camps to go to and stuff to do before school so taking care of your body is crazy I mean I thought I took care of my body which I do but like to this extent was never like that I heard you cuzzo it's a heavy State marriage look at this I mean you so you'll never really be able to find you know a weak link it's like he said there's no pre there's barely any practice like we the most practice we've had has been here because we just practiced before every game but it's barely available for everybody yeah so we've had like five practices before the sessions and that's pretty much it because I mean you know La is la is still two and a half hours for me and then we're still trying to deal with High School season when AAU is starting so it's hard to come all the way out for that or something like that so just hard to find time for
