hello everybody welcome back on this video we're taking you guys to four traditional restaurants that serve some of the best authentic japanese food in tokyo including sushi unagi and sukiyaki all right guys so we're here in a district called nihombashi located right next to ginza in the heart of tokyo this is where you'll find a blend of traditional shops right next to modern ones including two of the oldest department stores in japan mitsukoshi and takashimaya definitely worth a visit the area is full of atmosphere and it's a place that every visitor should experience for themselves there are also tons of restaurants serving authentic japanese cuisine in this area and so today we've chosen four that we think you should try on your next visit each place has a long history and they are well established restaurants [Music] first place we're here at this place called yoshinozushi this place was established in 1879 and this place is super special because this is the first place they actually serve toto and sushi i'm so excited today we ordered a sushi set and some alcohol what's special of this sushi shop sushi restaurant is the rice i heard they don't use sweetness only vinegar and salt check this out guys so we got two platters i don't even call these platters so i'm really really excited because there are a few things that i've never tried before and i'm very excited and by the way the the person that's making the sushi today is the fifth generation sushi chef long history at this restaurant so i think i should start off with um can i have the uh the maguro yeah the chef has already smeared a little bit of soy sauce on the top you can of course add more if you want but i think i'm just gonna go for it like this there you go whoa it has a much richer deeper taste i'm surprised that the thickness of the fish is quite thick and the rice is it's kind of different from what i used to because i'm used to eating a more sweeter sushi rice but like satoshi said um they're using the old style of sushi where they don't add any additional sugar in the rice so it's really special and it's good and i think i think um it matches the freshness of the fish it's really delicious not pickled vegetables it's shinko this is the the baby of this one it's called kohada and i googled it it's called the gizzard shad and i heard that this is a like a summer fish the fish that they eat in the summer oh that is super refreshing i thought it was going to be a little bit fishy but there's no fishiness at all whatsoever it's super fresh kind of lemony i'm not sure if he has lemon but it's very refreshing very easy to eat fish i can understand why this is popular during the summer time it's delicious i'm pretty pretty impressive how beautiful this sushi are shining what shall i say it's pretty really beautiful i want to eat this sushi shop is the first sushi shop with some toro what a beautiful tutorial yes the kai is so appetizing melting in my mouth so nice no fishy flavor it's so clear tuna and fatty tuna flavor the rice yes beautiful vinegar and salt it's just right so it doesn't kill the fish flavor combined well in my mouth so this is ottoro the appearance is really different from chutro tanakimasu so beautiful arigatou gozaimasu be nice by the way guys there is a cool campaign going out right now between july 20th and august 4th visit one of the participating restaurants and you'll receive a special benefit for details click on the link in the description below this video [Music] all right guys so we are here at another unagi shop in nihombashi if you've watched our previous video we went to another unagi shop which was fantastic and if you missed that video i definitely want you to check that out by clicking right up there but today we decided to come to another one because there are so many good unagi shops in this area this place is called kiyokawa it's established in 1874. first of all check out this building it's beautiful it's beautifully preserved it's authentic japanese traditional i love it you have two choices you can choose to sit at a table where you would enter on your right side enter on your left side if you want to use one of the private rooms i do recommend the private brimstone because the rooms are absolutely beautiful i feel like we've been transported to another city like i kind of feel like i'm in kyoto or something and then the inner garden can i just say how beautiful the inner garden is all right guys so our unagi set has arrived this one as like the other one comes with a soup this one is the kimosu which is the eel liver soup and of course the beautiful pickled vegetables that's kimono of course a little container of sancho japanese pepper which i'll be using later but first things first let's open up the cover and check it out first of all can we talk about the beautiful lacquered box look at this and the owner told us that this is actually a very old box but look how pristine the box is kept the condition of it is like it's almost like brand new and that's a real gold leaf i believe all right so let's open it up check it out guys wow oh look at that look at that you're glistening that's one full eel and as you can see the rice just like the other place it's um evenly distributed with that beautiful unagi sauce all right i think i'm talking too much let's dig in all right so first bite as always we should taste the unagi as is you know without any sunshine pepper or anything once again once again it just kind of like melts in your mouth and it's like it's buttery and fatty but once again in a really nice way and there's absolutely no bones i don't know where the bones went the rice although unagi is the main component of the dish the rice is good as well you know especially with that unagi sauce on top oh sounds good that's super good the rice is perfectly cooked not dry obviously this sauce which they have been using since the opening of this restaurant they can really taste i guess the depth and the history of the sauce that sounds strange but it kind of feels like it knowing that they're using the same sauce so sprinkle some sancho pepper whenever childhood i did not like sunshine flavor but now i love this it's a little bit unique flavor unique pepper flavor if you get used to this you love this the combination of sunshine eel and this sauce makes me very happy take some pickles this is taco the daikon radish i love sweetness crunchy this eel is so fluffy soft and with fat fat all right guys we're here at this place called tadala check it out it's a beautiful modern yet japanese restaurant it's super comfortable this is exactly the type of restaurant that i like this is actually the second branch of the original having been opened in 1913 during the thai show period a restaurant serving authentic japanese cuisine but with a twist the owner having lived in peru during his childhood days has added a peruvian flavor to his menu this restaurant is located along cozy street it's just behind the main street if you don't know this place you cannot find this restaurant it's hidden gem you are lucky very lucky you know this place we're gonna dig in oh my god all this food it's amazing first of all can i just call your attention to the beautiful plating and the way everything looks all the colors i'm not used to going to like a japanese restaurant and seeing this presentation the first thing i want to try out is some peruvian style potato salad this is incredible um it doesn't even look like a typical potato salad i think those are chunks of potatoes and i see boiled eggs there's olives and this yellow sauce the staff told us that this is made with a yellow peppers definitely a little spicy oh it is spicy there is definitely a kick there which i was not expecting because usually i i think you know spicy is red but this is yellow this sauce is just it's so new to me yeah it's very new next is salad again but it's special boiled cabbage and snow crab salad and it's still hot itadakimasu is really good so enhanced and matched with this dressing club club meet here club meat grab me a club to become a very good friend of cabbage it's combined into one i know i found a little bit of kick the next dish is hamo which translates to pike conger check this out guys look at this beautiful dish i'm gonna try this one because the color of the dish is calling me this one comes with the topping of ume this is the meat of the umeboshi or the sour preserved plum and there is like slivers of shiso or perella leaves on the top as well once again another refreshing dish it's refreshing but it also has a lot of umami has a punch in there the ume is not super sour because i also taste katsuo bonito flakes inside it's a combination of bonito flakes and ume mixed my favorite dish look this huge bowl of akita and it's not simple [Music] is really good and the ginger enhance the umami and matches so nicely it's good and i love this dusty flavor tofu it's so tender if you eat again please try this this is the peruvian beef tenderloin dish and already the smell the aroma wafting off of the table it definitely doesn't smell like just japanese food i can smell spices and it's a pretty sizable thick piece of beef almost so much flavor in this meat the meat is tender and look cooked just right you see it's a little bit pink on the inside the outside is seasoned perfectly i don't know what kind of spices you use i think i i taste a little bit of cumin but it's delicious i love it i think one of my favorite dishes on the table today foreign all right guys last place we are here at iseju famous for sukiyaki in fact this place is the longest steel operating shop that serves sukiyaki here in tokyo they've been open since 1869 and they pride themselves on using the best quality high grade a5 level wagyu beef for the sukiyaki so exciting this is aperitif as a mix of plum wine and sparkling wine oh it's sweet but refreshing same time [Music] do [Music] fastest rice it's disappeared it's gone melted in my mouth so smoothly the flavor meat flavor so good so tender beef and the sauce scatty sauce is not super strong it matches with this beef and egg it doesn't destroy the flavor beef flavor so good wow that is probably the most tender beef i've had in my entire life the thing that they used to cook it they cook it over a charcoal grill and this grill in the pan they've been using it for over 100 years and the tsukiyaki sauce that they use is the same recipe from when they first [Music] open [Music] all right so i'm going to try this uh shirataki noodles yeah these are thinner than what i'm used to seeing them they're really really thin this is the second most popular item that a lot of people ask for seconds because these are very special you know what's good about this because it's thin it takes the flavor of the soup that that's the that's the basic thing about these noodles i think it has to be these thin noodles i'm very looking forward to eat this that's right it's different i haven't eaten such a thin noodle but it's it comes with this uh barista sauce and egg mixture good i'm gonna have one more bite of the meat look at that this shop uses uh a5 level 12 which is the highest grade japanese beef every day they have wagyu the best cuts of water you deliver to the shop every morning so for example today the beef we're eating is from oyta kagoshima and tochigi they don't use any machines to slice their beef thinly it's all sliced by hand by cutting it this way it doesn't destroy any of that beef flavor and aroma no wonder you can definitely tell the difference this is amazing sukiyaki satoshi i feel so lucky we had so much good food we had like you know sushi amazing sushi sukiyaki unagi peruvian japanese food wow i feel so lucky nihombashi is a place od meets new every shop is well established they have history they have own stories they are trying to keep their tradition but making something new with their imagination i loved it i really did i had such a good time anyway we have come to the end of the video as always we really hope you guys enjoyed this video please let us know your thoughts in the comments down below and when travel is possible again we would love it if you guys try and visit some of these places and if you do make
