hello everyone Jan Hicks of jan hicks creates here i'm doing this little video today to show you a little in a little bit more detail in nick companion how i actually manipulate the selection of the symbols when I'm setting this up and then what I do when I've actually stitched completed a stitch you know how I mark it off on the chart so that it shows up as marked now there may be other ways to do this right in any software there's multiple ways to do things as you become more familiar with knit companion you may find an easier way this is just how I have found works best for me now for those of you that have watched my other tutorial you'll be somewhat familiar with the steps I am going to go over it just a little bit and I'm gonna have to move this around so you can see so I am in the edit mode right now when I come first come into the edit mode what is showing is the most recent or the last symbol that I picked if I want to see everything that I've done I'm going to tap on this show all all and it'll show everything that I have found already the next symbol that I want to find is this one here the dark one you're seeing there so I tap the plus button choose magic marker I tap one of those symbols I looked already and I know that the plus number of color is 581 I want it to show on all rows we're starting the count at three I'm going to change this darken that up a little bit I'm gonna make this color 581 which is a moss green I think I said that and then I tap down here and it finds all of those symbols and there may be some refining that I have to do with the more or less but by the looks of it it did find all of those so I'm not going to step through that process again what I do next though so say I've found all of thee I have got them all colored and I found them all what I am ready to start stitching and when I want to mark off what I have done I had tapped the plus button again and I choose custom marker this time what custom marker allows me to do is tap each one as I go and and create a different color I'm going to call this done just for lack of a better word and then what I want to do is find a color that will stand out from all the other colors that I've chosen I have a filled in all the colors as you can see so who knows you know what will be the best color but I'm just gonna choose this I think I'll choose this navy blue it's something really strong that I will notice so for a custom color as I'm stitching let's say I have I'm starting on this yellow section here as I'm stitching I'm gonna go ahead and just tap on those whoops yes it's hard to do sometimes zoom in so the squares are bigger and that's what I do have a pretty far zoomed in when I'm working on a pattern so then I can just tap I pretty much always stay in the Edit screen whenever I'm working on it so that I can manipulate it like this just on the fly if I go back to the knit screen I you know I can't do anything with it I can zoom in and out and I can see where I am but I can't I can't manipulate the pattern so I'm gonna go back into edit and it doesn't hurt anything to stay in edit I'm gonna turn the show all back on and so you can see I am still on done because that is the last marker magic marker that I created if I had somehow gotten onto a different one I would want to make sure that I'm undone when I start stitching so that I can just come through and work off those ones that I finished so I hope that made sense I just wanted to come in and do a real quick one about this if you have any questions at all any detail of this doesn't make sense please or any D any other detail about setting this up and Nick companion please let me know I'm happy to shoot other quick videos or answer whatever questions I can as I said before if you're new to knit companion and you need to learn the basics please look up the nick companion videos they have a ton of them on YouTube and they knew it know their software much better than I do so they step through in detail all of the difference all of the different possibilities that there are in knit companion and there are a ton but this is what I know for cross stitch it's very useful I hope you find it so - like I said let me know if you have any questions take care talk to you soon bye bye
