IT'S A REAL GAME!!! | Black Myth: Wukong gamescom 2023 REACTION

what's up guys Russ practically here with another reaction video and it seems like we got some black myth Wukong gameplay to look at for the past couple of days there have been a couple of clips and it looks like a trailer as well if you don't remember this game uh this game was revealed several years ago actually and it is another Souls like although it looks kind of more action focused than most Souls games are taking inspiration from uh Journey to the West uh you got Wukong who is the monkey dude they're The Monkey King if you know Goku that's who is inspired who that's who he's inspired from like I said there's a couple of videos here we got a trailer we got uh preview and it seems like there's a full gameplay demonstration with no commentary over that's like an hour long so we'll go ahead and kick off with this trailer and uh see what they're talking about all right let's go alright so starting with the trailer here this was posted seven hours ago at a time of recording this so let's see what this trailer has in store for us oh God my headphones are to hold on oh goodness all right can I hear now I definitely can't why is there a headless man here and he's singing and I don't know what he's saying this is kind of disturbing I'm not gonna lie dog this game just looks better and better every time they shove it off that's that's nasty and creepiest I can't read that uh [Music] this this game looks like it's gonna piss me off too okay we got prairies we got Perrys and if we got getting [ __ ] up as well the bit rate is not helping here though it's really not [Applause] I need a better quality video was this on my stream I don't know who's this oh God okay Ichigo calm down [Music] [Music] okay all right can you just like deflect endlessly or well probably not you probably have stamina to turn this pole into a whip it's crazy [Music] is that it wow that trailer went by fast oh my God I was low-key expecting more all right meditating or praying one of the two I'm not even going to try to pronounce that I'm really not what what was that was that or is it okay this had to be part of a stream because that that made no sense okay yo that deflect move is like really really tight I don't know why I like it so much but it it's just cool being able to like I guess because it's like lightsabers type stuff so like no deflecting reflecting lasers with a lightsaber is like always comfortable to me so being able to like do that type of stuff in any game is just like cool now let's look at the uh let's look at the game the Hands-On preview IGN has here since blackmyth Wukong released its first trailer three years ago oh God he's an actual game 20th the developer game there's numbers on the screen demo provided three boss fights and a relatively complete chapter experience it's worth noting that after the event the dev team made some adjustments to the trial version based on the feedback and suggestions received during the closed door evaluation that I participated in as a result my experience May differ slightly from what others experienced in Hangzhou and at Gamescom in Cologne okay let's get it due to time limitations this trial version did not include the level up system however it provided players with a set of skills and equipment that will be obtained in the mid game of the final version in addition to basic light and heavy attacks the protagonist's attack stances can be switched between three different postures including smash form pillar form and thrust form at any time furthermore spells such as immobilize Stone solid Ring of Fire and the pluck of many are also available for use there are also two transformation abilities One turns you into the previously Seen Fire Blade wolf and the other results in a creature with poisonous attacks additionally players will find and collect certain potions for in-game use it's important to know that these configurations may vary slightly depending on the different stages the first boss is named centipede guay and it appeared in the first 15 minute Gameplay trailer released in 2020 it's a attack methods include rolling and heavy punches as well as the ability to release poisonous gas this gas inflicts a slow acting poison effect on the protagonist causing gradually there's a lot of numbers popping up which can only be cured by consuming antidote potions however this boss is considered relatively easy overall in terms of difficulty for this trial version with its attack patterns most players should be able to defeat it easily the second boss is the macaque I said that about the lies and I still got my ass beat handed like over and over again it's just as it was shown you can observe how the protagonist's movements in combat in the snow-covered terrain dynamically affect the accumulation of snow in real time they model all the snow to move realistically is produced to half within a certain time it's like an insane second phase to encounter the monkey with wings the protesters this is a team we know nothing about into the scene increase significant loss against the player and intense encounter the third boss is the tiger Vanguard who appeared in the 2022 trailer according to the developers this boss will play a role in the storyline as an NPC who imparts the stone solid skill to the protagonist therefore oh so he's training us using this skill during the battle one highlight of this scene is how the water reacts and changes dynamically with the actions like for real that is crazy boasts the highest attack the environmental animation and it's oh my god did you see that Splash only does he possess spell-based attack abilities but his color attacks all X also deal essential damage making it easy to fall this game actually run properly experience provided during the Hangzhou event that I play I'm kind of scared it is called Cloud Mountain the overall scenery is somewhat reminiscent of the in-game footage shown in the 2022 trailer this is a relatively complete level experience featuring various environments such as forests Villages and temples there are also as many as four or five types of enemies waiting for players along the way don't underestimate these minions as they also possess the ability to deliver a fatal blow to the protagonist with a single strike so a detour path in the level that players might not easily find where they can encounter a hidden boss the poisonous king after engaging in conversation with it players need to break the wine barrel beside it to start the battle this hidden boss presents the highest like you shouldn't have told us that in this trial just let us figure it out this is extremely fast attacks deals heavy damage and boasts skills that inflict poison on the player it took me nearly an hour of fighting to defeat it and there were several instances how long did you get to play again before being able to use the Cure this dude for an hour how long was the session similarities in its mechanics with the Dark Souls series the combat feel here is quite distinct from any other similar games in my opinion this distinction arises from the fact that in other Souls like games players typically wielded weapons like swords or axes with the grip at the weapon's end during combat however in black myth Wu Kong the main weapon is a staff primarily held in the middle the grip on the staff changes according to different moves creating a varied Rhythm and action even changing the length of the staff in combat the impact feedback from the staff striking enemies is quite distinctive as well coupled with the support from the spell system during combat blackmyth Wukong stands apart as an action RPG with a unique feel differentiating itself from other arpg inaction games that have come before Oh great definitely oh great oh goodness hidden enemies why gameplay content in this trial version there are still numerous questions waiting to be answered for example and why is there already super science any other weapons how the level up system works and what the skill tree looks like and how many Transformations and spells are available all of these questions can only be answered once the game is finally released speaking of which blackmyth Wukong is currently scheduled for release in the summer of 2024 for both PC and Next Generation console platforms well on your favorite games they still got time here on IGN they still got time they still got time so what let me let me let me let me gather my thoughts here um so the the the key thing that really sticks out is like all the environmental after becoming familiar with shut up um all the environmental like animation that's what I can describe it as I don't really know but like the fact that this snow like just crumples and moves around with every step in and movement just is insane to me last time I saw snow that good was Uncharted too and all you had to worry about was walking forward and backward and I guess rolling but the amount of crazy [ __ ] is happening here and the fact that it reacts to like every single thing it seems like is and phenomenal um and the same thing with the blood water which is disturbing like he just slept he just slashed the [ __ ] pool of water I think and it rippled upward and on top of that they're just walking and it just ripples like like you would in a regular pool or Pond whatever the [ __ ] something you know what I mean uh but like just look at that dude it is insane and like if he misses and slashes the ground like does it and it just it pulls up again yo this game is awesome this game is awesome it looks great I know the video of the video still doesn't like show it very very well um that's unfortunately we can't see it the greatest uh my question is again uh well this run actually run on consoles and two what are the PC specs because like my PC is on this last legs so like I I might need I'm gonna need that info real quick so I can like run this properly okay so what is what is this This Is 50 minutes no commentary and it looks pretty crispy for now until stuff happens so it probably won't be as crispy for long all right so we can actually see what's like going on here and they're Cuts all right so it's not straight through all right got it I understand oh never mind bit race go on the hill oh God bitrate is said there was no leveling up though I don't I don't know what that was like hopping around don't you big tree bigger groups in this game and we just need Vin Diesel to voice acting I am Groot and whatever else with that stance motion is like can you move around in it it doesn't seem like you can move around like really unless I just missed it earlier Harry Holcomb and dead or knocked out don't have the two he's dead yeah he's dead okay because I know if he was he wouldn't he wouldn't just disintegrate if he wouldn't did all right that's one boss down where to next oh God the Tiger in the pool of blood just why are you in a pool of blood and drinking it like it's Kool-Aid foreign like you're not you're not cleaning yourself you're just spreading it why are you talking it's called me a punk ass [ __ ] is that what you just said oh God I'm assuming he either died or something it seemed like this frame rate dropped a lot more uh so this this part of the game unless it's just a video this part of the game is uh very very intensive and you know I can understand why it is that frame rate dropped like crazy did you just form a tornado with oral if I want a [ __ ] blood tornado in the water or whatever this is yeah we'll make it even better is if you know we actually got covered in blood when we felt in the in the like as we're like dodging and falling and getting beat the hell up same thing with him but it also probably be kind of hard to like you know see yourself so I can understand why they didn't do that bro this dude is playing tekking my guy Eddie Gordo head ass bro stop giant slash I was talking about earlier getting beat up I don't think you have any healing left so it's like the Poke is like a can like stun or do you have to like time it right to actually stun them a map to this thing or is it just figure it out I prefer a map but I know a lot of these are like figured out and remember and figuring out sure remembering not so great is this in it is this a dude we talked to or okay okay a friendly dude for once somebody's excited foreign never mind he's not friendly all right so you're making a friend here are these dudes playing Tekken for real either taking a street fighter one of the two maybe some maybe some some some Samurai Showdown to go along with it or Soul Calibur yo if I if if and when this game comes out and I play it and you know hopefully don't get completely frustrated to where I give up it's gonna be some fun some fun time making content on this game I can like already picture it now oh okay I think the question is will my mental be okay after this after trying to get through this game I'm concerned about that with Liza P also so why did we give him that again if he was going to try and kick our ass and use it to try and kick our ass I feel like that was a bad decision on your part are you okay I'm assuming no oh and great yeah two phases gotta love that okay I see the poison oh God we're poisoned yeah see let me go over there use the antidote bro [Music] so I do you have to build up to like those stance changes or can you just use them it seems like it seems like it'd be a bit over like over yeah a little bit Overkill to just you know head bash them over and over again like he's been doing unless that's like a special move yourself because he just he just did a pole stance again and didn't do that crazy action okay so maybe I don't know there's a snake is this easy about to eat them or is she about to eat them is it about to eat him okay Yeshiva you know okay that's all right can you just go back to environments that they have going on here that's at least that's the one that's the the biggest thing that can come through the screen at this you know pixelated mess of a video right now did he just run away so if you run out of stamina there's a transformation in I guess it does okay I see it seems like it was raining but I wasn't sure if he was sprinting or if it was just draining I think it was training check for me are these different abilities so like the ability actually uh is he even buying them or is he just switching them I have no idea and I assuming he just arrested we didn't even like see the whole centipede fight yet and he's and the guy said I was like the first one in the game or in the demo all right how'd you grow wings again I was like I feel like that wasn't might have been you know pretty important and honestly cool to show so just like having having it happen off screen um uh we you can do that you can do that now can you like jump over that I feel like you could might help a bit except having to like strafe all the way to the side all right I pretty much seen I think most of what this guy can I don't think we've seen that so never mind all right I think we've seen now most of what this guy can do um and then it's just reacting to it and did you die again he died again bro must be be embarrassed of this video right now probably not to be honest he's disappointing but at the same time you know it gives them time to work out all the Kinks you know get that frame rate up especially for that tiger fight because that just tanked in whatever system they were playing on that's struggling for real yeah like I don't I don't know I don't know what else to say really besides I just want to play it I want it now um well not now because I want it to like work good and it's not working good but you know when it works good I want it the graphics on the enemies look you know the the regular enemies were kind of like simplistic but you know not everybody needs to be or at least the humanities work the human I mean the human enemies were pretty simplistic uh the monsters you know were kind of uniquely designed we saw a couple of them they were pretty cool Wukong I can't wait to see like all the outfits that uh Wukong gets um all the masks all the the robes the bracers and even like the different poles like we saw a glimpse of like the pole like you can change the pole ends I believe hopefully you unlock all this stuff in game and there's not like you know heavy micro transactionary stuff there's a good chance they could do that in some form or fashion but hopefully you know it's it's a complete solid game uh we've had a couple of those recently with you know ff16 and Baldur's Gate three some some from what I'm hearing uh so hopefully you know in the next year this follows in that same path I'd love it too I don't see they there's no reason to have Micro transactions in this game there's no reason at all I mean there's no reason to have it in any game but they keep doing it also it looks like this trailer was part of the Gamescom Opening Night Live uh I didn't know that that was going on they just had their showcase but today or I guess yesterday I don't know some sometime so we'll see we'll see what's going on with that I'll probably watch that uh and throw up a reaction for that pretty pretty as quick as I can I won't say pretty quickly as quick as I can okay so yeah I think that's it game looks freaking great can't wait to play it um hopefully nothing else around comes out around that time so I can play it you know give him my full attention but I don't know the release window around then summer 2024 I don't know what's coming out then or if anything gets delayed then but anyway I appreciate you
