It's a CRASH course in the ULTIMATE survival game | Subnautica [1]

the date was January 26 2021 fresh off the worst year of my life well my worst year and a lot of other people's I began 2021 with the hope that things couldn't get much worse so I might as well look for ways to make them better enter this little game called subnotica and what ensued over the next 53 hours of gameplay ended up being some of the most influential gaming in all of my life in a lot of ways subnotica has ruined other survival games for me I don't know if any of them have been able to recreate the sense of myy and wonder I felt during my first playthrough a lot of games have tried and a nearly equal number of them have failed so why not go back to the well I thought maybe we don't need to reinvent the wheel maybe we just need to try a new set of tires thus began my planning for what would become this incredible modded challenge run in subnotica I think we're really going to enjoy this this is Lots muts our adventure awaits just oh we got some dancing reap ERS and I I was not prepared for this I it's just it's lovely so so as you can tell the sotica mod was successful in installing and uh well without further Ado ooh we got a new loading screen too look at that attention failure imminent all personel Abandoned Ship yeah launch in three 2 [Music] 1 Happ [Music] you have suffered minor head trauma this is considered an optimal outcome this PDA has now rebooted in get back to it we need to try to make a repair tool ASAP ASAP is possible repair tool silicone rubber cave sulfer right cave sulfur oh gosh and what I need the knife was also another really uh important silicone rubber titanium okay we can find [Music] that all right I do see how big of a difference are oh our HDR makes a pretty good size difference there we've got an HDR filter on there increased local radiation levels trend is consistent with damage to the Aurora's Drive core sustained during Planet fall a stalker tooth huh new blueprint acquired what are those what is this right here what on Earth what is this oh a fil torb oh those are pretty and there's a a giant sand shark over here too gosh this is funny like I don't know how much of this is modded and how much of this is uh is just how things were all primary systems online what what now new blueprint acquired home site home is 1,600 almost 1700 M away so it might be a little bit before I get there oh my gosh now these filters are looking beautiful it is going to make the nighttime a little bit harder but I think it's worth it break limestone copper is an essential component of all powered equipment your probability of survival has just increased to unlikely but plausible plausible baby all right there's that another stalker tooth why am I finding stalker teeth so close to the life pod that's concerning so the vast majority of this part of the game is going to be me going from place to place to place to place picking up basic ingredients turning those into slightly more advanced ingredients and turning those more advanced ingredients into actual usable tools it's not the most exciting so you're basically just going to be getting the summary of what's Happening Here got ourselves a knife and a scanner already BLS following the Massac I need a bladderfish Remains The Only Exception find a bladderfish real quick I'd like to make an air bladder ASAP also grab a floater I don't want to leave them most important creature being cell form whatever you want to call these in the in the entire ocean I don't want to leave them out of this after all can complete vital science normal continuing to monitor all right an air bladder uh okay so I think now I could just really use some bins I just need some more silicone rubber two silicone rubbers [Music] oh much faster so much faster say 15% but that doesn't even seem right Emerald clown pincher Pi an emerald clown pincher why not all right let's eat some uh well I didn't cook the Gary fish Emerald clown pincher oh crickets I can also uh go and cook that Gary fish I don't think that the Gary fish is all that good common for those accustomed to synthetic foods to be repulsed by E all right what is best uh let's better I'll try my best to stay on top of my food and water situation but anybody that's ever seen me play a survival game knows I'm creature I'm not the best at that all right larger O2 tank that's going to be super helpful okay my inventory is full wait what does that mean I don't have room for what come on now oh the creature egg is taking up so much space there we go all right now we also get a high capacity one high capacity is going to be some glass titanium and silver ore I can probably make some glass can't I I sure can be advised a common complication for cave divers is loss of orientation followed by eventual asfixiation silver Bas there's some silver are an essential component of many habitat modules RAV trap sea Glide yep we're going to need that only two for the sea Glide there are some pieces right down there 30 seconds is my air bladder working oh it is okay where are you guys scanner room fragment oh so soon I've already unlock the scanner room integrating new PDA it's a spade fish okay how good are what are they ax tails and triangle fish eels creature Creator that's what the triangle fish is ax tail oh it's a nice balance I should also look up a flashlight man it's dark oh there's something lit up over here oh I think it wants me to slash at the leaf put creep Vine with knife get out of here stalker get the freak out of here make it bleed a little bit huh caution continued degradation of the Aurora Drive call may result in a Quantum detonation continuing to monitor what is glowing over here new blueprint acir it's just a boomerang fish okay okay I just I I'm trying really hard to find some titanium but it's so dark I can't see anything this blue pal blue Palms are pretty I like that veined nettle I also like the difference in the acid mushrooms they they they don't all look the same and they don't all look like well I mean they kind of look butth holy but they look way less butth holy than they used to I don't know if that was some sort of change in a mod oh there's some metal salvage heck yeah oh gosh that was scary what happened to it oh it took the sulfur with it there's one right there yeah oh is this one of the skyray things you all right boss I think it's dead that's sad standard O2 tank I have to I guess unequip mine there we go high capacity O2 tank this is cool definitely the earliest I've ever gotten that what does that give me 135 seconds of oxygen heck yes there's a rebreather I need a wiring kit and fiber mesh I can make fiber mesh what do I need for a wiring kit just two Silvers okay repair tool that's what I need the silicone rubber for okay we'll be able to make that right now the flashlight just needs battery and glass all right repair tool coming up I don't know if I should actually use the repair tool just yet need glass now laser cutter that'll come in handy okay I need three fragments who what is that what are those whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa hang on a second what is that is this towards the it is not towards the Aurora what is this is it a reefback oh it is a reefback it's just kind of in shallow water it's little uh it little tentacles are kind of a little bit more flat okay that really was was quite strange thankfully it looks like my curiosity might have paid off in the form of some things to explore see Voyager fragment oh right aha we need six of those the sea Voyager is a new ship it is a uh a new uh mod in fact that six pieces oh gosh are you dead oh my gosh I just cut the crap out of it that is in fact the sea Voyager there's another fragment that whole thing is a fragment my goodness the mod creators really don't want you to miss out on the sea Voyager I guess is good just be great if I could find the uh the sea Glide as easily light secondary systems online this is lifeod 4 we've landed close to the Aurora flotation device is active but we've got some big old fish in the water with us and I don't know how long we're going to last we're close to the crash site so bring radiation protection four out signal coordinates corrupted approximate transmission origin recorded to Data Bank codes and clues life pod 4 is okay wait is that on the other side of the Aurora H 150 M Northwest of the Aurora ports midsection okay [Music] um wow still that never gets old that that view is Wild is there a oh there's a Deployable waterproof Locker okay I'll probably need that um is there a compass don't know if there's a compass feel like there should be a compass I think I'll uh I'll have to wait till daytime once again I can't see anything I can't believe I've been playing this for less than an hour and I already have my inventory is just totally out of control the storage locker is full my inventory is full I'm going to have to build I have to build more storage already I just started playing local radiation readings suggest the A's drive has reached there's the rebreather quation OCC within 2 hours all right rebreather is on uh okay so my equipment's in a good spot I could build pipes and uh floating air pump I guess but I still don't really know how that works main thing is I need a flashlight I need a dang flashlight then I can explore a little bit more uh well I also need the sea Glide but uh I don't even know what I should hang on to to make the sea Glide we have lead copper I have one quartz I need one more quartz okay back to the life pod I for the life me cannot find quartz I got hit by two different crash fish so my health is pretty sad right now oh that's [Music] flashing call this is lifeod 6 I have a passenger on board coordinates attached we've landed a kilometer from the crash site but there's radiation in between us and the rendevu request immediate assistance 6 out signal coordinates corrupted approximate transmission origined to datank Red grass 400 m West Northwest of lifepod 4's last known location sunk to approximately 100 m okay I could try to find that real quick maybe I'd be able to get a seag Glide there uh red grass is right over there and how deep would I have to go how deep is it about 100 m I'm going have to keep swimming down this surface I don't it's not quite that deep here there's something right there hopefully I don't get attacked by too many biters all at once there's also something purpley looking over there it's about 100 m down it said there is a wreckage here of some wait show a nearby cave entrance depth 90 M leading to an unknown environmental biome leading to an unknown biome is this something there is this just Salvage oh bivel chair very important a desk very important preparing the day's water action ahead of time will help ensure against dehydration and eventual death what is going on whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa what the freak oh my gosh I need air I need something I don't know I just need to not be here 30 seconds next time on subnotica welcome Travelers loots magoots here and I just want to thank you for watching this first episode of The subnotica Challenge run now I played subnotica back in early 2021 and I have to say it was one of the most rewarding experiences in all of gaming for me I actually streamed it over on my twitch Channel and it got me able to get some live feedback from some of the subnotica community members who had been following the game for a long time and I learned just how passionate they were but also just how generally friendly and kind and helpful they were I had a lot of people offer help but only they said you know only L only let me know if you need it uh if you want it I don't want to spoil anything for you so I was really taken back by just how courteous the subnotica community was and that really meant a lot to me I was able to unravel the mysteries of 4546b at my own pace and it was just like I said one of the most fulfilling experiences in all of gaming for me so uh I've absolutely adored this game so after each one of these videos I'll plan to give you a little recap on what things looked like on my end and just kind of give you a little bit of a teaser on what you can expect in the episode to come so if you watch the setup video episode zero for me getting ready for this modded challenge run I mentioned a mod called C to C when I added C Toc to my mod list the main reason that I did that was because it did introduce some new biomes to the game and biomes just the idea of new biomes was just too good to pass up and so I kind of just added the mod without really reading it entirely I just knew that it was going to add some more biomes I ended up coming across that video from last bacon about the sock natica mod when I was comparing the two c Toc and stica I realized that sakata had that really big issue for again for me uh in that it it essentially makes you lengthen the game by exploring every bit of the map and that was not something I really wanted to do I should have known that honestly because the title C to C would kind of lead you to believe that you need to explore the entire map but again I just didn't really I was I had Tunnel Vision on the biomes uh and so that one that one's on me I'm sure that c is an amazing mod um but like I said before I just I know myself and I'm not going to uh want to do exploration where I'm just continuing to go back to the same placees because I just happened to overlook something um so sotica is what I ended up going on but that meant that I had to uninstall a few mods and then install sotica and begin my progress from the beginning so I lost about an hour and a half of gameplay not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but it did lead me to basically have to repeat the things that I had just done right at the very beginning when I was filming this video here so uh it could be why there's a little bit less talkativeness there will be more moving forward because it'll be a lot fresher for me uh when we get there so this time around we're just trying we're just getting our bearings as we've landed on 4546b there's a little the opening cinematic which is a classic one um but at that point I have to jump in over to the console and I'm trying to teleport over to the cush Zone where I'm setting up uh the base that we're lovingly calling home sweet home that creation is is pretty basic it didn't take me too long but uh I also didn't want to explore the cush Zone too much because I don't want to give myself too much of an idea of what's really there there's a lot of stuff in there that I just frankly I've never seen before so even if I did have such a great memory from my time playing a couple years ago I there's a lot of things that just they aren't they weren't there back then so they're totally brand new now after I ported it back over to the lift in the safe shallows basically just did some some of the early item Gathering Ing and ingredients and trying to craft some of the most basic tools that I'll need for my run uh it's not really that exciting to watch but it is pretty interesting from my perspective trying to get my bearings uh as many of you know the safe the the Pod that you land in is not always exactly in the same spot it can actually move around uh depending on your playthrough so uh I can tell you right now it is not in the same spot that my original playthrough had my lifeod land it is a different area um and that has thrown a little bit of A Wrinkle in there I I said that I've seen stalker teeth a lot closer to my my life pod that was not the case in my first playthrough so this is I feel like a little bit more dangerous it's kind of cool and then kind of near the end there we'd received a few broadcasts about some of the downed life pods so I've got a few different places I'm going to be able to look at uh but the big thing the literal big thing was that there's a big freaking fish down there or something there's big creature down there what the heck is that I think you're just going to have to wait to see in the next episode I think we'll probably get a closer look at it well I don't know about closer but maybe a better look at it uh in the next episode so I really hope you'll join me for that this has been uh a really cool dive back into the game pun intended I guess but um but I'm really looking forward to this playthrough this game is an absolute Gem and I'm so excited to be able to share it with you and
