now I can already hear the army of Richard Dawkins parroting anti-feminist Twitter users typing up their responses about how Islam as a religion dedicated to oppressing women it's amazing how suddenly yeah 5% Asian that Hollywood is an almost perfect reflection of the demographics of America that easy these unbelievably non-discriminating complaining that Hollywood is 75% white is like getting offended that Bollywood is 99% Indian you know that Hollywood is more or less an exact reflection of the demographics of America you know not racist at all so how many brown people by whatever definition she's using here does she expect to find in Hollywood but all things move to anyway juicy fingers on to describe Islamophobia as racism but despite the fact that Islam is a religion not a race it's vital for us to understand that Islamophobia is racism these if you've been paying attention this far you might be asking yourself if Islam isn't a race then how can Islamophobia be racism what that makes no sense whatsoever and no saying mutually contradictory things in a video doesn't put you in the clear it makes you look like a hypocrite at best and an idiot at worst so let's hit this great explanation as to why she thinks that even though Islam is not a race Islamic phobia is racism the answer lies in another ism one many Westerners aren't particularly familiar with that's Orientalism in short the term Orientalism refers to how for hundreds of years Western artistic and academic history has perpetuated an ignorant and prejudiced view of the East a view rooted in the idea of Western culture as inherently more advanced and enlightened and Eastern culture yeah there's simply no explanation there none whatsoever what Islamophobia is racism because of Orientalism you're not actually a Middle Eastern descent if you're vaguely brown you can stick around to play guys look Anita there's a reason why the Islamic terrorism thing keeps coming up so often because if you look at international acts of terrorism aimed at killing as many civilians as possible well you tell me which religion tops the bill I'll give you a clue it ain't the Amish and of course that makes it into the media in the same way sort of gangster movies do cuz blowing up civilians is bad at stopping them in a story is something that people like to see really this isn't that complicated and then this really has to be seen to be believed Anita goes on to suggest that it's the West who's to blame for not putting women into media about the Middle East the very real advances that Arab women have made in many parts of the world are ignored because depicting them would complicate the simplistic racist narrative about Arabs and Muslims that Hollywood continues trying to cash in on the Western media is so evil for not making movies about these women and casting them in a positive light filmmakers and TV producers know how to objectify women how to prise them for their physical attributes in their appearance the stories we allow ourselves to tell about the Middle East don't allow for the same kind of easy objectification of these brown women's bodies and so we resist last month they needed $20,000 to continue this great series of four videos the first one was on cultural appropriation the second one was on how people shouldn't make fun of Trump because of his manhood or something and now we have this abomination $20,000 for four videos at $5,000 a shot hell they said they needed $600 just to film for the day are you kidding me $600 a day to film this look honestly for the videos I put into the patreon supported feed I get very generously supported for those but damn some of those videos require a lot of technical stuff for videos like this one which let's be real a more or less just expressing an opinion I really can't bring myself to add those to the patreon supported stream because fundamentally beyond a day of my life to edit this crap together things like this really don't require much more than bloody common sense and of course they sheer determination to watch these videos and sure maybe I'll see some ad revenue from it maybe YouTube team monetizes it because it's called atheists or Islam or feminism and or or something and maybe I don't get squat for spending a day of my life going through crap like this but such other
