Isaiah 50:1-11 | Part 2 | Can I Ask You A Question?

Church grab your Bibles tonight and turn to Isaiah chapter 50 Isaiah chapter 50 I continually perpetuate a lie in front of you where I'm going to get through a chapter a night on Wednesdays I thought I would do it last week it's only 11 verses for crying out loud and that didn't happen but it was important that we let the Word of God speak to us as the spirit I trust was leading and will continue to do that tonight we're looking at a message entitled in Isaiah chapter 50 can I ask you a question and there's a list I gave you that list last time that God is asking of Israel questions he's asking them he's actually with his questions listen he's asking them questions but with the questions he's indicted them because they're challenging questions he's asking them a question that they already know the answer to but he's saying to them he's asking them to answer these key questions and he's gonna force them to respond now he he's not going to ask them to respond with words he's gonna have them respond because they're so hard-headed they won't listen they're gonna go into captivity and in the bondage of captivity because that's where disobedience to God will always take you Christian if you disobey God and continue to disobey God God winds up putting us in the penalty box he doesn't want to put us there but we wind up going there and that's what happened to Israel and so God is speaking to them and you also know by now that chapter 50 all the way out to chapter 66 now has tremendous revelations of listen New Testament doctrine you heard me right Isaiah chapter 50 all the way out to Isaiah chapter 66 you're gonna hear over and over again new Testament promises here that have that are fulfilled in the New Testament certainly Old Testament promises with new testament fulfillments and so as you guys look at tonight and I pray you write these verses down and your note-taking or in the margins of your Bible I'm a firm believer that if somebody were to be abandoned on a deserted island somewhere I'm fully confident completely I'm not kidding that if a Bible fell out of an airplane somewhere and landed on that Island and hit the guy in the head maybe and he picked it up and started reading it from Genesis to Revelation that that guy would have an absolute perfect understanding of Bible doctrine because the Holy Spirit is dedicated to exalting the Lord Jesus Christ and he does that through the Word of God and when the Holy Spirit is left alone to be the teacher to anyone who will open up the Word of God that person I believe will wind up in a safe place regarding Bible doctrine I guess what I'm saying is be careful about what you hear from who you hear even me acts 17:11 says you ought to test everything that Paul the Apostle was talking about and Paul's the one that said that and that's true judge everything you hear against the Bible and equally true is the fact that when the Bible says something that you recognize as you will tonight say hey man that's a New Testament flair to that that's because the Holy Spirit is speaking to you and you need to be excited about that because God's Word is God's revealed word from Genesis to Revelation in Isaiah is God speaking through the prophet and it's truly awesome because God relates to us through his word and so write this down if you would I I think it's important it's through the Bible that we discover who the Messiah is in fact the Bible says in 2nd Corinthians chapter 5 verse 19 for God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself and I'm giving that scripture upfront by design God says in the New Testament that he has revealed to mankind that Jesus is the Messiah and by the Messiah he will reconcile the world to himself also 1st Timothy chapter 2 verse 3 for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior who desires all men to be saved God wants all people to be saved Church does that mean everybody get saved no but God wants them to so be very very wise and be very smart over the fact that God is absolutely sovereign but God has built into this entire program your ability to make your own decisions regarding where you will spend eternity and that's a very serious thing but he wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth for there is one God and one mediator between God and man and that is the man Christ Jesus who gave himself a ransom for all to be testified in due time that's an awesome statement Paul the Apostle is telling Timothy telling us tonight that the Word of God reveals that Jesus is the Messiah he's the only mediator the only go-between between mankind and God is Jesus Christ and for what purpose to bring about Redemption when at an appointed time Isaiah is going to be looking and speaking way to the future you and I today look way back to what happened 2,000 years ago it's absolutely amazing throughout all the millennia of the ages God's Word is so incredibly and wonderfully true and so listen God is asking you and I a question tonight and that's going to be the epic ation for us as we go through this John chapter 11 verse 23 john 11:23 says and jesus said to her this is Martha Lazarus has died Jesus has now come Martha and Mary are there questioning him if you remember that jesus said to her your brother will rise again and Martha said to him verse 24 John 11 I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day and jesus said to her I am the resurrection and the life he who believes in me though he may die he shall live and whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die listen do you believe this Jesus asked her he asked her a question and it forced her to respond and God will be asking us questions tonight listen we saw this last time very quickly we saw it in verse 1 2 & 3 is this question being asked by God whose fault is it remember that Israel he's saying whose fault is this and here's the announcement question number 1 he says thus saith the Lord verse 1 where is the certificate of your mother or that is of Israel divorce whom I have put away that's this first question Israel you'll be you walked out on me where's the divorce papers I didn't divorce you second question or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you Israel you've gone off now to worship before all these pagan altars and you've sold yourself into slavery because of your iniquity find the receipt that shows I'm the one that sold you you've done this by your own doing and you remember that last time so let's pick it up now where we left off verses 4 through 5 God is now asking this question hasn't he given you the answer and the answer to that is absolutely by the Messiahship of Christ now watch this church this is written 750 years before Jesus was born verse 4 begins it's a messiah it's a passage regarding the Messiah and prophecy the Lord God has given me the tongue of the learnin and I should know how to speak a word and season to him who is weary he awakens me morning by morning he awakens my ear to hear as the learn it verse 5 the Lord God has opened my ear and I was not rebellious nor did I turn away the the latter part all of this is about the Messiah and every Jew knows this but the latter part of verse 5 is a very powerful one because Israel had sinned Judah had sinned everyone has sinned we all sinned the statement at the end of verse 5 is being spoken by someone who has never sinned this is interesting whoever it is speaking because we're approaching this as doubters right we want to beacon we here tonight as skeptics to this well whoever we're talking about verse five at the end tells us that he was not rebellious well that rules out people and then he did not turn away it certainly rules out Israel it edify is the personage of who were speaking about whoever it is if you notice in your Bible you're you're a good Study Bible should have me and my capitalized the reason why is that the translators understood in the Hebrew that it's speaking of deity that is absolutely accurate the push to this is that God has given us the answer in Jesus Christ the Bible tells us regarding Jesus who the scripture announces is the word of God Psalm 107 verse 20 says that he that is God has sent His Word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions so the Bible tells us that God's Word can heal God's Word lifts the burden of the disasters and the Bible teaches us as you know that Jesus is the word of God so the answer that God is looking for he wants Israel to respond yes we repent yes we're sorry we change our minds God you were right we got our eyes off of you and we've ran to this other area to worship at these altars of pleasure and we have forgotten you God and we hit that pretty hard last time together we've abandoned you because of our own passions and we're coming back god we were sorry we we asked you to forgive us that's what he wants from us then the question tonight is hasn't got done enough for us he really has a friend of mine asked me just the other day if I knew of any good books that would help a friend of his reestablishes faith maybe get us his feet kind of back onto solid ground and and you know this is like a third party we request and that's kind of a hard thing to answer because some people depart from following Jesus because they want to you know I'm talking about they just want to some people depart from Jesus and walking with Jesus because they succumb in weakness they didn't want to they they got their eye off the ball so to speak and they wound up getting into the weeds and and that's that's hard going and we've all done that we would call that backsliding but some in your own life you need to be asking yourself the question is hasn't God been good enough to me and and I want you to just pause for a second before we press onto this every one of us tonight in this in this tent could say ten things as to what has gone wrong in our lives and this is what said we could all list 10 things that have gone wrong and we can do it pretty quickly and that's unfortunate because if I were to ask you can you list 10 things that are really really great you'd might you might fill that out a little bit slower you know I'm talking about it's kind of painful to admit that but it's like that we have a tendency to gravitate toward those monumental moments that are the bummers that are the Downers we can do that in relationships it's painful when somebody views a relationship and it's always in the negative you have to fight that we all have to fight that but there's some of you that have the the demeanor you've got the personality you know I guess I don't know I don't but it would be one where you see everything sunny everything's rosy if you're on staff here at this church this this is the way that I am I've always been this way I'm not a bummer to be around but if somebody says you know what we've got this thing going on and and here's what I want to know I want to know and when you tell me how much it's gonna cost to fix it the worst thing you can do is tell me a low number I want to hear bad news I want to hear it if you think it's gonna cost 15 you know jack this thing's under custody 15 bucks I think for us to get this fixed listen don't tell me it's gonna cost 12 and it's gonna wind up costing 18 you know I'm saying why I'm not being me and I'm not I'm not like me no debbie downer and I'm not like you know you know mr. little dark cloud raining on everybody's parade I want to be prepared has nothing to do with being a bummer I want to be prepared and it's it's vital to me that I understand that why because I want to be able to meet the challenge with the right stuff in my in my holster so to speak or in my in my backpack right I want to know what's up here and I think that's very very important because we need to understand tonight that God is saying I've done it all for you now the temptation has done what and if that's in our hearts tonight and it kind of roams and ranges through the human heart even among the lives of a child of God if we're looking around and we start to sink and we start to feel like we're weighted down let's just remember something God says for us that from his word we can be like the learnin this is a passage regarding Jesus Christ coming into the world as a human and learning the Grace and the knowledge of God in his humanity the Gospel of Luke tells us this that Jesus grew in the Grace and knowledge and had favor with both God and man did you hear that that's what the Bible says about the coming of Christ into this world he was God but yet he relegated himself to his humanity and he had to learn how to walk isn't amazing God had to learn how to walk Jesus had to learn how to eat as a baby he learned things Joseph his earthly dad so to speak right taught him how to be a carpenter and yet the very one that Joseph is teaching made the world and we often forget that Jesus knows what it's like to be tempted of course for him thank God he never sinned but the temptations against Christ were just as real as the temptations that you and I deal with and so this this great passage is saying I'm the one that was never rebellious this is your Savior Christian the one that has never rebelled the one that can't rebel it's all about the Messiah and you're gonna see how graphically true it is in a moment and I love that by the way the Bible says in Revelation chapter 2 verse 29 Jesus is speaking revelation 229 he who has an ear to hear let him hear what the Spirit says implying that the Holy Spirit is still speaking that's what that word means though jesus said that in Revelation 229 he says be listening for what the Spirit is saying yes to the churches but us tonight and God would speak to us tonight about that very thing listen I'm gonna ask you to write a couple of things down if you would care to do that and it's a question that I'm asking is how can you and I know if God is speaking to us about something that's needful in our lives hasn't God given you an answer is the question to this particular point right now and you might be saying boy I don't know I'm still waiting for an answer I don't know if I'm getting an answer I don't know if God is speaking to me or not on this one how how would I know that's a good question to ask number one would be this because the thought or the impression that is in your head will bear witness of an external source I want you to think about that for a second how do I know okay pastor I heard what you're talking about that God would say to me to us tonight haven't I done for you what's needed haven't I done enough haven't I spoken to you enough you might say I'm not sure well listen test test right now what you've been dealing with in your life boy right now share with you in a second I'm seeing right now something that happened just the other day and I'll share that with you about about something just like this number one because of the thought or impression that is in your head it will bear witness of an external source meaning this how do I know if God is speaking I've got this issue I've got this situation and how do I know if I'm hearing from God well you will know inside it would be a thought it will be an impression upon you and you'll know it's a little bit odd but I mean this in a good way it's a little bit odd meaning it's not from your sourcing its external it's a voice it's a thought it's a sentence it's instruction it's a it's a it's a it's a statement it may not be a Bible verse it could be but it may not be a Bible verse but it is Bible true does that make sense if the words may be put in a certain way for you to understand but you know it's not you and I tell you just I think it might have been yesterday you lose track of time my goodness time goes by so quick it was either Monday or Tuesday I was at Chuck's Hospital and and sitting with parents of a child that is fighting for her life 18 month old girl baby gee remember to pray for baby gee that's what I'll call her okay and she's fighting for her life and mom and dad are there and it was amazing because we're talking about the faithfulness of God and the tenderness of God and the plans of God and where's God in this she's innocent she's and all these normal human questions and then the mom she just says you know I was thinking and in boom she gives this paragraph and I said to her I just said to both of them but I said to her listen to you you just said it she articulated 100% Bible comfort Bible truth to their situation she wasn't even aware of it and for that moment God knew that I was gonna that I was gonna be there and that I had the opportunity to point it out to her she had heard that earlier she was thinking the thought then she said it and I had the chance to say that's him that's his answer and it was so sweet because their tears welled up in her eyes and she got a big smile on her face as her precious little baby was in the operating room the second thing is this mark this down how do you know when God's speaking there will be perfect harmony agreement with the clear revealed Word of God when God is speaking to you Christian you can match up if you have any doubts take what you were thinking and put it up to the Word of God and it will match perfectly you'll be full agreement when we asked this question hasn't got spoken hasn't God said anything hasn't he done enough in his word to you you can test this and thank God were Christians tonight think about that listen there are all kinds of religions all around the world right now and they don't know nothing about their God's speaking to them or not you've got the Holy Spirit you tonight if you're a Christian and you've got the Word of God the Bible that it's either hidden in your heart or it's on your lap right now tonight and whatever's going on in your life if you would just stop and this is my problem this is maybe our problem if you will if we would just stop and slow down and pray and talk to God did you did you guys hear what I just said if we would just slow down right and pray and talk to God we're all running on the hamster wheel and you just pulled back whatever the situation is God's Word to us is going to be an absolute perfect agreement with his word but we've got to consult his word regarding that thought that impression that's in our hearts or in our minds thirdly that thought or impression will always exalt the Lord Jesus Christ in your own spirit in your own life in your own heart and your own spirit not the Holy Spirit your spirit the born-again you that's your spirit when God is speaking to you Christian it will always exalt the Lord Jesus Christ in your life always well I think God's speaking to me and I'm gonna sell it I'm gonna you know sell the kids sell the car and I'm gonna I think God told me to go to Vegas and and Gamble it yeah really tell me friend how does that exalt the Lord Jesus Christ now that was a really bonehead example but in reality it's you know we do we do things that are much more or less blatant than that but ask yourself this question regarding the issue that you're in and us trusting that God is set enough whatever is going on in my life if God is speaking to me now I know that it's gonna exalt Jesus Christ it's simple but it's a fact fourth and final thing on this one the thought or impression will result in good success as the Holy Spirit directs your life this is fun this is fun listen I don't want to sound like a weirdo if I do raise raise your hand and I'll say it different I am NOT a word faith person I hope you know that those guys are goofballs you know the blabbin and Gravatt people right just tell yourself you're rich and you'll be rich that's insane okay Ron but I will say this the thought or impression will result in good success as the Holy Spirit directs your life remember the assumption is God is speaking to you and you've tested what you've heard against the Word of God okay if you obey what he's telling you to do you will have good success now here's the thing don't don't define success the way Tony Robbins want you to define success let God define good success good success in your relationships good success at your job good success in your devotional life right good success in your witness good success and are you with me I would rather have good success on that stuff than some of these bonehead things about oh follow Jesus and get rich not in my Bible no let God define good success but my submission to you tonight is God has done enough he has said enough in his word he's given it all it should be enough for me to grab on to and take me through the fiery trial of this relationship or of my child in the operating room or this this financial collapse are you with me or that are the the doctor giving me the cancer slip or something are you with me the word is enough it is enough it's supernatural it's not of this world it's enough and thank God that God relates to us not as a bird not not as a you know an animal God relates to us as the Word of God and that to me is awesome because now I can pick it up and I can take this everywhere I go no matter what happens the third thing that we see tonight is this look at verses six through seven the third thing is what else could I have done for you look at God is speaking verses six and seven this is powerful he says remember we're just asking who the Messiah is in here who ever is he says in verse six I gave my back to those who struck me I gave my back to those who struck me does that sound remotely familiar the word gave in Hebrew is net on it means listen to this I gave my back it means I co-signed or consigned to my back it means that I dedicated my back the word means I presented my back open without defense the word net on graphic whoever the Messiah is my friends if you're if you're watching tonight and you're Jewish if you're here tonight listen to what your Messiah did for the world he he bared his back to his Snider's the word look the word means to furnish so fully to offer up without limitation the Messiah is saying I'm gonna give my back with with no area of protection I will reserve no flesh to those he'll strike me they can have at it against my back they they'll and what does the New Testament say that they took the Roman cat of nine tails it's a it's a stick with a leather ball at the end and it has our nut a leather ball but a wooden ball at the end with nine leather straps about 18 inches long with animal bones in it rocks and glass and they would lay it down by the way The Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson that's a pretty good scene right there it's very accurate they did their homework there's a scene where the Centurion lays it into Jesus is back right Jim Caviezel is back in the movie and go in pulls he can't get it out and then BOOM and then meat comes out listen that's exactly how I witnesses recorded the Roman flogging you can read about it Josephus talks about it chunks of flesh so bad that Josephus and others record the fact that when people were beaten by the cat of nine tails you could see ribs and you could sometimes see their lungs but they most often died whoever this is and please again I stress if you're Jewish listen your book says that your Messiah will lay his back wide open to his opposition and they will whip his back this is spoken of nobody in the world but Jesus my Savior my Messiah your Savior your Messiah if you trust him absolutely awesome and Isaiah speaking over 700 years before the events John chapter 19 verse 1 so then Pilate took Jesus and scourged him full beating full beating this is not a spank this is not a this is not a hit this is not a slap his flesh from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet we have no idea he was scourge mark chapter 15 verse 16 then the soldiers led him Jesus away into the Hall called the Praetorian and they called together the whole garrison and they clothed them with a purple robe and they twisted a crown of thorns by the way the crown of thorns is brutal that crown of thorns from that bush they grow in Israel those thorns are two to three inches long and they're so sharp that if you touch it you have to flick it off because it's 60 or skin.that sharp that fast it's like it's like glue but it sticks into you like that it's horrible so look what they did they put it on this twisted the crown of thorns put it on his head and they began to salute him and that's that's a gentle way of putting it they began to salute him like this they began to hit the crown hit the crown and they said hail King of the Jews then they struck him on the head with a reed and sped on him and the bowing the knee and they worshiped him that's obvious Lamarque worship and when they had mocked him they took the purple off him that is the robe and put on his clothes on him and led him out to be crucified continue on in verse six Isaiah fifty and I gave my cheeks now I said the word gave because that's the implication in the Hebrew I dropped it in there again it's not just I gave my back to the smite errs he also laid open to the full brunt of his accusers his cheeks to those who plucked out the beard this was a roman practice you guys I don't know about you if you don't remember anything about tonight will you remember this how awesome is the Bible Isaiah there was no Roman Empire at the time of Isaiah think of it this is Isaiah Rome's not even thought of yet but listen Isaiah is prophesying what he is saying by the Holy Spirit Rome will come along dead a centuries later and it was a matter of fact for them to treat a condemned man to take there a stick and they would put it in the guy's beard pass it a stick in the beard and then begin to twist the stick in the beard and then they would put their Roman clean on the guy's forehead and then pull the stick and pull chunks of beard right out of your face with meat coming out of your cheeks that's what they did how did Isaiah know that Isaiah didn't know that but who did the Holy Spirit authoring the Bible did I don't know about you man I don't know I maybe I'm a pushover but if you're not a Christian you should become a Christian right now absolutely awesome my Jesus does for me he could have stayed in heaven and let us all go to hell he came so that we wouldn't have to go there Wow Matthew chapter 26 56 says but all this was done that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled is that amazing verse six continues I did not hide my face from shame and spitting whoever this is they're going to exercise self-control that in my opinion is beyond to human beings ability whoever this is of course I'm being sarcastic right now I know who it is he didn't hide his face from those who had shamed him and spit on him he just took it sound familiar didn't defend himself Matthew 2667 then they spat in his face and beat him and others struck him with the palms by the way palms open hand not clenched fist that's easier palms open they struck him with palms that's open prophesy to us Christ who is the one who struck you well the reason why they're asking him Church this is the worst of the worst the reason why they're asking him is because they blindfolded him they blindfolded Jesus which is terrible because when you're going to be punched you have a natural human reaction you don't even know this it's it's subconscious if somebody's gonna hit you your brain automatically takes your head and moves it with the punch coming not against the punch with the punch you understand that anybody understand that when you when you go like that the head will go so it takes part of the sting away Jesus was blindfolded so he couldn't tell where the next punch was coming from but it wasn't a punch that would have been better you want to kill somebody with a hit you don't punch him take your hand wide Oh hand like this and you slap you can break a neck you can cause a concussion with a slap like that don't think that a open hand is easier it's not easier there's a brutality about it that is horrific and Jesus was hit with open hand blindfolded and Isaiah knew it how did that happen other than the Holy Spirit being the officer of the Bible Matthew 27 27 then the soldiers of the governor to Jesus into the praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around and then they stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him and when they had twisted the crown of thorns this is Matthew's account they put it on his head and a reed in his hand and they bowed before him and they mocked him again they said hail King of the Jews and again like Mark's account almost verbatim Matthew records it as well they led him away to be crucified now listen jump a little bit ahead of Isaiah tonight Isaiah 52 verse 14 isaiah 52:14 isaiah prophesized regarding the messiah and he says deep now deep into the future from Isaiah's day you and I we have to look 2,000 years back for this and many were amazed when they saw him his face was disfigured he seemed hardly human and from his appearance one would scarcely know he was a man Jesus was so molested so brutalized his body must have been blood-red and the prophet Isaiah said that he's marred disfigured more than any human being ever can you book in there's no other say can you believe this no you cannot we believe it by faith we understand but we weren't there and when I read Isaiah I see that Mel Gibson didn't do much of it much of a good job on this Jesus looked like a mass of meat standing that the Bible says he was so brutalized because of Jackson that he could scarcely be identified as a human being I'm guessing that the only way that you could determine that as a human being was the his human form what what about his nose where what about his ears his teeth his eyes were they in the sockets or not his fingers what about it what absolutely horrific Isaiah 53 verse 5 but he was pierced for our rebellion okay if you're not a Christian tonight you read that right now you should become a Christian tonight the Old Testament seven hundred and forty three years before Jesus was born said that he was pierced for he will be pierced for our rebellion you know anybody who remotely fits the bill here listen if you're not a Christian tonight it's not because you don't have enough information you're not a Christian tonight because you don't want to be this this prophetic fact is overwhelming crushed for our sins he was beaten so we could go whole he was whipped so we could be healed all of us like sheep have strayed away we have left God's paths to fall our own yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all someone say Amen this is the Messiah Isaiah knows who he is many of you tonight know who he is but maybe somebody in here somebody watching listening do you know who he is this is foolproof Jesus Christ came and lived it according to the prophets perfectly executed Isaiah 53 next verse verse seven isaiah 53:7 he was oppressed and treated harshly yet he never said a word that is in defense he was led like a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep is silent before the shears he did not open his mouth if listen he didn't open his mouth because if he went to defend himself then that would mean that you and I would not have a savior to die in our place for us if he defended himself he could have gotten off he was silent because he knew that Jack would be born and that he would be a wretch and that he would need salvation so Jesus came now you might say tonight sitting there yes that's right Jesus Jesus came Jack and he died for you yes that's true but it only works if Jack receives that truth for Jack it's true don't give me don't get me wrong it's true if Jack believes it or not it's true but it's true in Jack's benefit if Jack receives that truth and listen I'm a human like you're a human it's easy for you to believe good things to be a blessing upon others but you have a hard time receiving such a blessing upon yourself why because you know who you are you know what you are I know who I am I know what I am and so it's because of that where you and I am when we become aware of God's Word Wow it's kind of like a guy that's drowning out at sea you know think about it at first the guys out in the water swimming around and he's doing fine cuz he has his strength you can't save him because he doesn't want to be saved he's swimming in the ocean but then if he gets in peril he gets tired or something happens now he's very keenly aware of his mortality are you with me he's not strong enough now to pull this off and he starts reaching for help but listen if he's starting to go down you better get help to him quick or else he won't recover are you with me there's a brief moment of salvation if you allow me to put it that way there's a moment there's a window you can't save somebody who doesn't need saving you can only save those who understand that they need saving but by the time they understand that they need saving they don't have many breaths left are you with me now and so in all of our lives we get out there we live life we got that what's the old saying the tiger by the tail or whatever that is and what do they what do the Millennials say is it Yolo Yoli Yolo what's you only live once so like you know we us older people say we used to say grow of Augusta you can write or you know I get the bumper on my bicycle or something said if it feels good do it you know all these humanistic stupid things well what are we communicating ma'am looking out for number one man who might that be me you know it's the world it's the way the world is you can't save anybody like that you can witness to them in fact we do witness to them don't we we tell them the gospel and they laugh at us but we tell them anyway because they won't always be treading water they won't always be swimming there will come a time when they'll start sinking and then there's that moment when you can reach them but you got to reach them because if you don't reach them listen they'll be swallowed up and a lot of Christians they get saved but they're bound they got a life jacket on they're saved but they they're still fixated about going down I think I'm still going down to think you're not going down you have a life jacket on you're saved no I think I'm going down condemnation will suck a person down it can't kill them but it will neutralize them a lot of Christians today are being robbed by condemnation they're not walking in the freedom that Christ has given to them because they keep thinking about how big of a wretch they are they keep looking backward on that listen he came to set us free yes you and I bear as it were the scars of our past life in this new life of ours yes we battle thoughts we've got a new heart but we have to renew our minds and our bodies are prone to want to go after old appetites we've got to fight that we're all in this fight as believers but the important thing is this and we covered this at length last time is that you pursue Christ you keep going after him verse seven says for the Lord God will help me now this is the Messiah speaking the Lord God will help me this is Jesus in his humanity therefore I will not be disgraced oh they may shame me they may spit on me they may beat me I'm not going to be disgraced well ever anyone else would be disgraced unless you're the Messiah therefore I have set my face like flint and I know that I will not be ashamed this is the Ministry of the Messiah the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ said his face to go to Jerusalem it's the same word same word he set his face to go to Jerusalem and he told the disciples I'm gonna go there I'm gonna be crucified you couldn't stop him he was gonna go to Jerusalem and a demon couldn't stop him nothing could stop him Jesus was going to Jerusalem he was going to go to his death because listen he embraced that he went for that listen the Bible says that for the joy that was set before him he endured the cross he went there for you and I what you might sarcastically so-to-speak ask what does Jesus get out of going to the cross really you want to know the answer you now I don't know how that hits you I don't know how I don't know how you process that me well that's a bum deal for him I understand how you feel about that but I have to say this by faith it's in the Bible I don't feel it I don't get it I don't understand it but it's biblically accurate that God loves me without merit he loves me without conditions he loves me because he's God he doesn't love me because no he loves me because he's God listen are you here tonight and you'd say you you're here tonight and you say nobody loves me that may be true but God loves you he loves you and so what you think by him going to the cross that you are the you are the reward that Jesus gets you think that's a real bum deal because Jesus wasted his time going to the cross for you I understand that and again maybe a people that know you they think that do but no no listen no matter what is stacked against you it all goes away you can't be disgraced you can't be disgraced when you realize how much God loves you that Jesus thought you precious enough worthy enough valuable enough to go to the cross theologically I know it's true I just have a hard time but it's true that if you would have been the only one if you would have been Adam and or Eve the two of you he would have died on the cross for two people two redeemed him back to the presence of the Father that's how valuable you are he declared it it's not how you feel it's what he is none of us are worthy of that we just need to zip our lips put a smile on her face and say thank you good I mean thank you god this is amazing Lord and then you get up and you live your life in honor of him it's easy I mean it's not easy but it's easy it's easy to make the decisions to follow him it's hard to actually follow him but it's way easier to do that than to not do that and see how it ends oh my goodness we're almost done really I'm we're gonna we're gonna end it we're gonna really finish this fourth thing how confident are you of your salvation verses eight through ten he is near who justifies me the Messiah is speaking this is Jesus in his humanity and he's speaking about the theater the rina of the cross he is near who justifies me who will contend with me now listen everyone who will contend with me the messiah saying well everybody's been contending with Jesus especially since his public ministry began do you remember that in Matthew chapter 4 everybody's been arguing with him but Jesus the Messiah the verbage here's who will contend with me does that I wonder if that brings something to your attention Romans chapter 8 Paul says it this way those of us who are Christ who's against us right what what's what's against who shall bring any charge against us against God's elect you ever heard that before it's exactly what the Messiah is saying and Isaiah 50 verse 8 a lot of people are going to attack you Jesus but it doesn't matter God is your focal point a lot of people are going to attack you Christian it doesn't matter God is your focal points as impossible as it was for Jesus to be removed from the cross by principalities angels or powers or things to come things pass things present any created thing as much as impossible as it was for Jesus removing the cross it's as impossible for God's love to be separated from you think of that and Isaiah's echoing what Paul mentions in Romans it's absolutely awesome and then he goes on he continues surely the Lord God will help me who is he who will condemn me nobody indeed they will all grow old like a garment the moth will eat them up who among you he asked another question verse 10 who among you fears the Lord imagine him speaking that to the nation's that's where it's really going towards is the nation but what about you tonight who obeys the voice of his servant who is listening to Jesus who walks in darkness and has no lights let him trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God absent the gospel right there and then finally verse 11 what will you do about this stuff regarding who are you in life God's gonna ask you the question who are you anyway he was asking that a visitor who are you what are you what has happened to you verse 11 listen to this look behold open wide the eyes all you who Kindle a fire this is very very scary words open your eyes all you who Kindle a fire it's a he's he's judging them he's indicted them who encircle into the practice that Diana wants Diana wanted or Athena wanted or Zeus wanted and it was very well known what those gods wanted and you went to the God of your preference you go to the God that you want to have all the gods of this world are the gods that approve of what you want to do you want pornography then listen you go to the temple of the nymphs you go to the god of pornea it's where we him he died on the cross for your sins rose again from the grave he's the prophesied Messiah Savior of the world and the Bible says that he died for you in the cross and he rose again from the dead and the Bible also says that he's coming back and the Bible also says that if you put your trust in him you'll never be put to shame trust him tonight give your heart to Christ tonight [Applause]
