[Music] no i prayed a lot about what i would do because there's too many things to do and not enough time to do it so i'm going to have you open your bibles to isaiah 5. and this passage in isaiah 5 from verses 1 through 30 can be broken into several sections but i want to read through it and then kind of break down the sections a little bit and give a little picture a little better picture of why not only should prophecy not scare us but if we're reading it all right you're going to see that scripture confirms itself through time so prophecy intended for people at a certain time and then jesus will pick up the very same theme or the writers of the new testament and carry it to a further dimension and so isaiah 5 i'm just kind of like jumping right in the middle of something basically the first four chapters of isaiah are kind of the introduction you read the first chapter it gives you a a wind-up of brace yourselves here it comes but by the fifth chapter now we have a picture being painted and it's kind of interesting this parable of the vineyard which is god and judah and we have to kind of be careful as it's been said many times the cinnamon synonyms of judah which sometimes we get confused in the prophecy of isaiah have two distinct meanings meaning people as the people pertaining to a specific person or body and a nation we have to be careful to discern and divide it rightly otherwise it it sounds like he's saying the same thing twice and he's not so now will i sing to my well beloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard my well-beloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill and he fenced it take note of all the care that was done for this vineyard he fenced it gathered the stones thereof planted it fenced it removed the stones planted it with the choicest vine built a tower in the midst of it and also made a wine press therein and he looked that it should bring forth grapes and it brought forth wild grapes if you want to put a little note there they're really not wild grapes they're bad or bitter grapes hebrew word for bad grapes can also be bitter grapes now just get the picture of this that through the first uh we'll say five or six verses we're going to have the work of this laid out very carefully he fenced it gathered the stones planted it with the choices vines built a tower in the midst of it made a wine press therein took that it should bring forth grapes and it brought forth bad or bitter grapes if you just stop there for a minute and let's just kind of go to the the natural art of wine making if you've ever been to a place where they grow grapes it's a lot of work grapes don't grow overnight that's why when people talk about noah getting drunk i kind of i have to snicker a little bit because people forget there was a flood and took a lot of time for those grapes to grow for him to get drunk you know people have crazy ideas when they read the bible uh just in the natural what it takes to grow grapes which is an area i do know it about good soil takes the right soil takes the right elevation takes the right temperature the right amount of sun just the right amount of water not too much water in fact there's a process of actually starving the vines and giving them just the right amount of moisture that what goes into the grape the bulk of what's in the grape is where all the moisture is contained rather than in the lower part in the vine through the ground just in the natural if you were to drive through napa valley or one of these areas and you see how the vineyards are tended and they must be pruned so they don't go crazy and the ground where you walk between [Music] each row as it's planted just perfectly the ground is kept and you you know you see crazy things like sparkly things in a field that's to keep away the birds and the critters so just on the surface all this work that went into this fruitful hill fenced it gathered the stones thereof planted the choicest vine don't think that all grapes are the same and that everything will grow up you plant one thing it'll produce the best there's different types of things to plant the choicest vine built a tower in the midst and also made a wine press therein and he looked that it should bring forth grapes and can you imagine all the labor first year second year third year which will produce nothing by the third year you may begin to have small very very small grapes and very very limited quantity and all this work that it would bring forth bad or bitter grapes i'd be a little bit ticked if i was the person that had the taken the time to put in all that work and now inhabitants of jerusalem and men of judah judge i pray you between me and my vineyard what could have been done more to my vineyard that i have not done in it wherefore when i looked that it should bring forth grapes it brought forth bad or bitter grapes king james wild grapes and now go to i will tell you what i will do to my vineyard that's pretty terrible i'll take away the hedge and it shall be eaten up break down the wall thereof and it shall be trodden down and i'll lay it waste i mean after all that work remember he's not talking about a vineyard it's a parable but think about all the labor and all the care and all the attention that went into this now to change this from a picture to explaining the illustration i'll lay it waste it shall not be pruned nor dig now i want you to put this on the backdrop of two other parables that jesus will go to a little later when is the obvious john 15 the other one is not so obvious a few of the gospels record but it seems very very clear that this uh lack of paying attention on the part of what has produced wild grapes this is what's going to happen lay it to waste shall not be pruned i'm not even going to bother with it nor digged but there shall come up briars and thorns will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it that's ultimate starvation they do need some rain now remember it's a picture being drawn it's not actually the vineyard per se for the vineyard of the lord the lord of hosts is the house of israel and the men of judah his pleasant plant all this attention and care remember all the prophets point in the same direction listen to god's word be obedient to what's being said turn the old testament instead of true as we've come to know repentance through the greek simply in the hebrew just shube just a turning not even a change of mind as we come to hear it from the lips of jesus but just to turning in your direction but behold and he looked for judgment but behold depression for righteousness but behold a cry and attached to this picture now it's as if isaiah is saying now do you want to know you want to know about this vineyard oh i'll tell you about this vineyard now let me tell you the vineyard is you and he's going to pronounce six woes and they are the most uh i think they they'd actually make you bite your fingernails a little bit if you just begin to read the first one verse 8 because verses 8 through 23 are the analysis of judah's sins the most egregious things that in the face of the care that god has shown to choose a people to treasure this people so the first one grow unto them that join house to house that lay field to field till there be no place that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth in mine earth saith the lord of hosts of a truth many houses shall be desolate even great and fair without inhabitant now these first few verses here are laying the first and biggest impression on what the prophet is saying these people have a problem it's called greed you want to kind of identify these because as you go down they'll become very clear he's going to analyze some of their worst problems the greedy bigger houses more land but not for anything except to edify themselves forgetting who gave them this land who gave them the honor and privilege of having it's very timely i mean i've i read through this i even have my uh niv that sometimes i like to read some of these passages and to make it a little bit more clear that king james translations can be yeah take it or leave it but he says yea ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath and the seed of a homer shall yield an if now what's so relevant about that is he says all of this land ten yoke of oxen maybe to plow and the best it might produce is about eight gallons of wine of liquid all that work for nothing there's a there's a pattern being repeated here all of that work to produce nothing you're going to toil and work to produce nothing and seed which should produce much will produce little now here comes the next woe growing to them that rise up early in the morning that they may follow strong drink that continue until night till wine and flame them now i've heard i've heard so many people take this and not understand what the prophet's saying that you just want to go oh god somebody put a lid on it it's not an admonition against drinking wine there's a very powerful illustration being made let me read through these passages then i'll go back to point out what it is it says woe unto them that rise up early in the morning that they may follow strong drink unless you're really desperate to drink rising up early in the morning they continue until night till wine inflame them and the harp and vial tabret pipe and wine are in their feasts but they regard not the work of the lord neither consider the operation of his hands the very this this is the parable of the vineyard so it's not a mistake that the prophet is targeting drunkenness but it's not because of actual consuming it's that they were self-indulging the very thing that should have been a symbol of joy and a symbol of pride for the nation became something self-indulgent for the people they no longer recognized god's provision in their life as a gift to self-utter self-indulgence which is timely again for today therefore my people are gone into captivity in fact go back and read that one line and you'll see it's very clear but they regard not the work of the lord it's not that they don't have regard for the work as in will say in in this day the synagogue or the temple they regard not the work of the lord that is things that he brings by his providence and by his provision they have no regard for it remember there's another passage in i think it's in deuteronomy don't say that your hands have brought you this wealth it's the same concept being said here no regard for the work that the lord has brought neither consider the operation of his hands therefore my people are gone into captivity because they have no knowledge and their honorable men are famished and their multitude dried up with with thirst therefore hell hath enlarged herself it's interesting that that's placed in there right in the middle of their self-indulgence therefore health hath enlarged herself and open her mouth without measure and i like the fact that they actually put hell as a as a woman and female gender might scare some of you men a little bit and their glory and their multitude and their pomp and he that rejoiceth shall descend into it you know if you have no focus of who gave you these things who's the giver of the gift then go ahead and keep self-indulging yourself because that self-indulgence will take you right straight into the pit of hell that's what the prophet's saying so and the mean man shall be brought down the mighty man shall be humbled and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled but the lord of hosts shall be exalted in judgment and god that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness god's going to have his way and that's that then the land then shall the lambs feed after their manner and the waste places of the fat one shall strangers eat here's the third woe this is to have the first one is of greed the next battery i've read self-indulgence this one is of unbelieving cynicism amongst the people woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity and sin as it were with the cart with a cart rope now what's what's interesting about this verse if you read it alright it's the strangest illustration that you could think of a heavy cart being drawn laboriously not by animals but by men as if they're drag they're having to drag around their sin in a cart that's the picture that isaiah is painting yes pretty staggering go into them that draw iniquity with chords of vanity now i'm not too good with uh i'm not too good with proverbs so bear with me for a minute i don't usually quote proverbs proverbs 5 i think it's 22. let's check this out unless the least used part of my bible is proverbs his own iniquity shall take the wicked himself and he shall beholden with the cords of of his sins that's what i thought it would say he's saying the prophet saying the same thing his own iniquity shall take the wicked himself and he shall be holding with the cords of his sins now imagine that carting around and pulling a heavy cart because that's what the prophet is giving this picture as that say let him make speed and hasten his work that we may see it let the council of the holy one of israel draw nigh and come that we may know it now here comes some perversion of truth as the next woe i'll call it a just a little twist going to them that call evil good and good evil that put darkness for light and like for darkness that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter he's talking about a people he started off by painting the picture of a vineyard and god who gave such care you know if you if you really know to me this is a very very important picture in my mind as an illustration of god's care of what it takes to actually produce wine the whole procedure from start to finish from the planting from the pruning from the harvest from the crushing of the grapes to the time that they must sit to the time that they are actually you know there's there's a so many different processes that have to happen god's care for his people that in that care all that was produced was bad bad grapes bad bitter grapes now he's going on to tell exactly what the problem of the people is here's the next woe growing to them that are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight another perversion here comes woe number six throw into them that are mighty to drink wine and men of strength to mingle strong drink now you know you might you might read this and i've probably encountered a few fundamentalists in my time who would say see men ought to not drink wine that's not the gist of what's being said read carefully what went to them that are mighty to drink wine consider the parable of the vineyard that is again back to the concept of taking what god deemed for himself and using it with the wrong perspective consumed on self self for self which justify the wicked for reward and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him kind of social injustice if you want to call it that therefore is the fire as the fire devoured the stubble and the flame consumeth the chaff so their roots shall be as rottenness and their blossom shall go up as dust because they've cast away the law of the lord of hosts and despised the word of the holy one of israel now this is honestly it sounds really bad as you read this you say wow that's pretty it's pretty strong but no stronger than when jesus was standing in front of the religious people of his time as the word speaking to them and they were as blind with no spiritual eyesight to see this word this very same word despise the word of the holy one of israel therefore is the anger of the lord kindled against his people and he stretched forth his hand against them and that's smitten them and the hills did tremble and their carcasses were torn in the midst of the streets well you're going to tell me that this is a faith-building prophecy absolutely it should be because if you read on about how god will use the enemies in this case in one of these he's going to bring in the assyrians another place is going to bring in the chaldeans and all we have to do is read the history of these people to know that god accomplished his purpose no mistakes god is i would say above patient above lungs we use those words and they're familiar to our tongue long suffering i i don't can we stretch out the long for god for all that he's been put through so here comes the anger of the lord kindled against his people and he had stretched forth his hand against them and smitten them and the hills did tremble and their carcasses were torn in the midst of the streets for all this his anger is not turned away but his hand is stretched out still this is the staggering thing he will lift up an insight into the nations from far and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth and behold they shall come with speed swiftly now here comes the army as being described my bible has a typo right here it should say none but it says noon n-u-n-e that's my that's a typo in my bible but i should read it the way it reads noon if you can't see that right by verse 27 there noon i wasn't kidding you wherever new knees he's got a problem none shall be weary nor stumble among them none shall slumber nor sleep neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed nor the latch of their shoes broken here comes this is the army and god is going to call the enemy of the nations in this case most likely the assyrian army being one there's they're lined up in many sequences as the prophecies unfold now here are the weapons whose arrows are sharp and all of their bows bent their horse's hoofs shall be counted like flint and their wheels like a whirlwind their roaring shall be like a lion first described like that they shall roar like young lions yea they shall roar lay hold of the prey they shall carry it away safe and none shall deliver it and in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea goes from imagery of a lion ready to take the prey now to the imagery of roaring the roaring of a sea to be consumed now isaiah's whether isaiah was describing or being the pen and dictating the mouthpiece this is pretty powerful these words are very powerful in their imagery first as a roaring lion then as the roaring of the sea and if one look under the land behold darkness and sorrow and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof wow that's pretty dismal no it's it's god's word to a disobedient people and people and i've heard people say this this is the god of the old testament no this is the god of the bible this is the god we serve who how in his kindness and mercy why did he have to restore a fallen creation he could have just left it alone and gone to some other planet and started all over again think about his god could have just said you know what i don't like this i'm going somewhere else i'm going to start a new thing do it all over again somewhere else all right it's all things are possible yes luke 20 turn to luke 20. this is the interesting thing as you see the very thing that luke 20 and verse 9 the very thing that's being spoken of now jesus picks up this thread and brings it right here then he began to speak to the people this parable a certain man planted a vineyard and led it forth to husbandman and went into a far country for a long time and at the season he sent a servant to the husbandman that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard now of course it's not this this is not a shadow in its exactness of isaiah i'm simply telling you that this concept was brought straight from isaiah's passage right into the new and now jesus is bringing it into the now now he'll speak of himself the imagery was used of god's disobedient people and god through the prophet isaiah says well i'm going to wipe him out this particular prophecy says i'm going to send these people this enemy people to do my bidding i won't even i god won't even dirty my hands i'm going to use the most bitter enemy to bring them to their knees and in some case destroy them jesus picks up this thread of the vineyard here at the season he sent a servant to the husbandman that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard but the husbandmen beat him send him away empty again he sent another servant beat him also and treated him shamefully sent him away empty send a third they wounded him also cast him out then said the lord of the vineyard what shall i do i will send my beloved son it may be that they will reverence him when they see him when the husband saw him they reasoned amongst themselves saying this is the air come let us kill him that the inheritance may be ours now again it's not you can't superimposes i'm simply taking the imagery that was used there to speak of those people disobedient now jesus is actually taking it and turning it around using and speaking of himself and they it says so they cast him out of the vineyard killed him what therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them he shall come and destroy these husbandmen and shall give the vineyard to others god was saying that back there anyway and through isaiah there are two other passages where he speaks of specifically the gentiles will have this fruit the gentiles will partake the nations now these others will have so it's kind of interesting when you when you begin to look at all that's declared and of course i can't i cannot not read it but john 15 because here's it seems like this is a theme coming right back again and then he hones it down even more i am the true vine my father is the husbandman every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away right down we went from some concept of bad bitter bad grapes now right down to the very essence of where we stand no longer some far removed and to a future time again you can you can take every single part of the bible from one book and make each passage where you camp out confirm itself in other places because god has just been saying the same thing through different mouthpieces some a little bit more poetic some a little bit more coarse all saying the same thing now you know it seems pretty clear to me and i i chose this i i was thinking there's a couple of passages i wanted to look at tonight but that one specifically speaks to me because it embodies why a lot of people don't want to touch prophecies of end times and last days in the new testament they read the old testament and they read about utter destruction how god destroyed a people tore down but they don't they're not seeing the whole picture which is god's mercy and god's patience and god's love to a people who could not yet see they had not been yet given the word of promise we have received even though we haven't seen him like peter says but we love him and we have the witness of those that did see him writing their uh what they saw as eyewitnesses so when we come to the new testament and people say well prophecy scares me prophecy shouldn't scare you because it's only god basically now through john's mouth and through a few passages out of thessalonians and other places basically taking the thread that was already woven through the old testament there are no new ideas there are no new concepts these these uh ideas somehow that for example revelation appears to be something that's so hard to understand and yet if we're reading daniel and ezekiel and pairing up the prophets right pulling that string right through the old testament and into the new john is not saying something convoluted he's only giving a deeper emphasis to what was already said previously for a future time now i don't think that there are prophecies that were declared in the day that say isaiah spoke them that while they were being spoken the people understood i don't believe so in fact i'd go so far as to say the prophet was probably standing somewhere declaring these words and maybe a few stopped to listen but most probably thought he was a lunatic some looney been standing on a corner somewhere telling about the destruction of the world as they knew it when in fact that's why i said prophecy reading the prophecy and the prophets of the old testament and you see that god made good and you can't go anywhere without really recognizing as isaiah is speaking of the house of israel and judah you've got to go back to genesis in those closing chapters of genesis where these blessings are being declared to the children and laid out properly you can't go anywhere except back to the beginning of prophecy and say wow how could a speaker so many hundreds of years later know this and it be perfectly fulfilled 100 years 70 years whatever the time allotted in jeremiah's case the 70 years prophecy perfectly fulfilled to the day it was declared including using a heathen king to make certain things come to pass now to me there are things that i think people take out of context and have speaking about end times and i think if we spend so much time trying to understand every single detail right down to the last of end time prophecy i think that's a mistake and i'll tell you why because as the prophets received their word and it was spoken and it wasn't spoken for their generation it was spoken for a future time some of the proclamations that were made began to happen as they spoke but were fulfilled through time some are yet to be fulfilled but what if the men and women during that time spent their time trying to figure out the meaning like daniel says in 12 daniel 12 6 what is the meaning of this and how long until it comes to pass versus spending the time soaking in god's word building our faith muscles and being faithful to him and i believe that single-handedly is the message missing out of all the prophecy teaching that you commonly hear and all the books that have been pinned you know if somebody wants to say it's uh i've heard all the pictures of the battle of armageddon [Music] and different pictures of end times some people extremely confused about antichrist and the bigger picture is that most of these people that spend their time talking about those things don't have any faith in the now and they're not telling people that the most crucial thing jesus said about his coming he said when the son of man comes will he find faith on this earth that's the most crucial question he didn't say will you understand and discern the prophecies declared for the last days he said will he find faith so all of these things should it should do that and as as i said rightly taught it shouldn't bring fear it should bring faith we should look at a lot of those passages uh and specifically for this ministry this is what's a marvel to me this ministry for as many years as it's been proclaimed and taught here has i feel the responsibility and dr scott didn't have any shame to do it neither do i to say that the bulk of what goes on under the guise of christianity is not christianity most of these traditions right down to right down to the most minor detail artwork and christianity modern day artwork even today still depicting halos and sunbursts on the back of saints heads and most people don't know that this was birthed these image these pictures that are still being perpetuated are just birth right straight out of these babylonian gods the sun god and so it is with prophecy of people who have perpetuated erroneous ideas that somehow if we hear a word of prophecy we should all hunker down somewhere and be afraid i wonder if daniel was afraid when he was in the lion's den i'm not that's not prophecy that's an actual scenario i wonder if paul was afraid during the shipwreck i wonder if paul was afraid while he was shackled this is not a word to be stoics this is simply a word to say be faithful let faith rise up through his word and whatever god is going to he has given his word about end times i believe he'll be faithful to perform it he has a good record through hundreds thousands of years now bringing his word to pass but for the ones who are faithful in christ who are committed who are looking to their lord and savior jesus he says clearly these are his beloved washed in the blood of the lamb these that will be rejoicing with the angels these that will rule and reign with him and that's where my brain departs from the rest of what the church world i guess embeds in people's mind about prophecy no no i'm sorry if you think that you need to go hide under a rock somewhere because you think the last day is here or it's coming it's not what my bible declares for me as a believer in christ romans 8 declares no more ultimate condemnation his body the church will not be wrath will not be poured out the church will not be stricken as some people teach erroneously simply based on the pattern given through the old testament what's declared in the new and the prophecies that are yet to be fulfilled that would be like smiting jesus body afresh to hurt and harm his church so i stand steadfast in the faith just saying whatever the time is let it come but in the meantime if we pull these threads straight through the bible you can see that there's nothing unusual there's nothing strange it's kind of an interesting idea actually if you think about it when you close the book the beginning of the book begins the tree the end of the book the tree and everything in between is a mirror and a shadow of everything that has already either been said come to pass or will come to pass it's just a reflective image of what some of us may or may not see in our lifetime that to me doesn't matter god's already proven his faithfulness it's my responsibility to faith he's given me the honor to be able to read his word and share and be a partaker in those things eternal so for the saint we share those words of prophecy together and say god is faithful the word out of isaiah brought straight through into the new testament gives a dimension of god using the same imagery and we could pull from any place in isaiah to show the same thing god is faithful he hasn't changed halfway through and said well you know i think instead of calling my people grapes or fruit by the way isn't it interesting the same concept of fruit bitter and bad grapes now move into the new testament not only are we to abide in this vine but what comes out of it galatians 5 the fruit of the spirit all of these pictures are woven together you can't escape them and they shouldn't bring fear they should just bring faith in the knowledge god is so good to his children how could that make you want to shake and shiver it makes me want to get up and say that's the god i serve i don't know about you but that's the god i serve get on the telephone do you want the final word the final word is out of revelation 21 if you want to know the answer that god is looking for john says it in revelation twenty one and seven i mean that's really about the end of the line you don't get any further down the line than this 21 and 7 says he that overcometh shall inherit all things and believe me speaks not of all things but these things and i will be his god and he shall be my son i was just looking that up in the greek for one word he that overcometh and actually it shouldn't be a he that overcometh but literally the overcoming one otherwise we ladies wouldn't make it in that one word for over cometh if you remember i taught on that one word nikkei you get the t-shirt nike with the swoop the swoosh and interestingly enough the overcometh for you who are interested is a verb it's a participle it's present which means the action is continuous and it's active you must overcome i can't overcome for you and there's only one way to overcome by faith see god just is he's so repetitive in making sure that we all get the message because some of us are a little bit more hard-headed than others to him that overcometh present which is continuous and active you must overcome for yourself and i must for myself and that overcoming action is done in faith now read down why i said you can't read prophecy or any prophecy or any word of god that verse 8 but the fearful and unbelieving and it goes on to list a whole i'm sure people would use this as a laundry list to beat people over the head with but i'll i'll just stay with the fearful and the unbelieving that's that verse 8 the the fearful and the epistles no one's going in reverse either going forward in faith or you're going in reverse so the fearful and the ones going the opposite direction of faith what does it say about those wow see i have a way of motivating you maybe you might find you might find some place to say hey tell me how i get this faith now uh wow shall have their part on the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone i got faith in the promise yeah i don't think that that's the type of faith god might be looking for not the scare tactic kind that's the one that comes up because you've trusted in his word you think about that though in fact this book has more revelation has more passages and more reference to those that overcame oh while we're here one of these down here strongs good evening to uh saskatchewan northeast saskatchewan canada good evening to you just thought i'd say hi somebody that takes the time to call in from a very cold and far away place how's that it's not siberia though i know that uh overcometh that's the word i was looking for oh i see how many places in here [Applause] overcome overcometh that's a good amount and there's one more here yes overcome sometimes there are things that are that don't appear in the king james but if you look at them in the reverse listing of the greek you find all the words so i know the beginning of just to point out a few facts about those that overcome remember the seven churches and seven churches and the last word to him that overcometh will i give to eat of the tree of life i mean that's what i said to you about the reflection of everything that came before will be at the last he that overcometh shall not be heard of the second death i hear again verse 17 217 him that overcometh will i give to you to the hidden manna i'll give him a white stone and in the stone a new name written which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it gotta just take that and say how many overcomers are they here verse 26 he that overcometh and keepeth my works unto the end to him i will give power over the nations and he shall rule them with a rod of iron as the vessels of a potter they shall be broken as shrivers shivers even as i received my father there's one more two more he that overcometh the same shall be clothed in white raiment i have another one verse 12 312 him that overcometh will i make a pillar in the temple of my god in fact there's more these are just to the seven churches but the theme of overcoming is pretty strong through revelation singular remember i told you the story i was in christian bookstore four or five years ago this very big large lady was on her hands and knees in the middle of a you know where the rows of shelves are she was on her hands and knees with her head put to the side she was trying to read the spines of the and she was talking very loud she said she thought i worked and said excuse me can you can you tell me where i might find some revelations i felt like saying sister it's not down there you're going to find me it's a singular revelation of john the revelator who gave a revelation yes so to him that overcometh but that's my point is if you're reading if you're reading this and you couple this with daniel and you cannot understand revelation without daniel if we're trying to pull this whole book apart the one thing you can be sure of is that it should inspire the word given to daniel and look at the word given to daniel there were things that were given in the present time regarding the present company he kept regarding the being carried away in the king and prophecies for a future time and those that were given in the present time as he spoke them were fulfilled in one place it says he had to look in the books to see what was spoken of by the prophet jeremiah so it becomes really obvious to me that the people who are reading and in the word and not into speculation it should become more obvious as you read and follow through the whole picture god is saying i'll take care of you just trust in me lean on me run to me i'll be your shelter lean on me i'll be your rock see if by leaning and trusting and taking refuge i don't cover you protect you take care of you right down to the imagery of a mother bird taking its young ones protecting them so god has been saying this all the way through and prophecy should bring forth the same idea god's not going to hurt his children he's that he's not that type of a father maybe bad earthly fathers but our heavenly fathers not like that so just a word to those who are just beginning their walk or some i i was delighted the few people that actually uh said i've studied prophecy for many years and it scared me or it still scares me well i think there's there's there's the fear air quotes here fear of the lord we're not going to just stand cavalierly and familiarly and say yeah what do you want god but rather he's faithful to perform his word and bring it to pass and when he says he's going to take us to him well and i've amen that and if it's in my lifetime or not i know all these people with their speculation somebody sent me a they've got to check out this website here's a new group of people they're saying that in may of this year and all of their yes if you read it or heard it may of this this year everybody needs to get ready brace and you know let me ask you a question as smart people why do i need someone to tell me i mean there are there are seasons and times of years for for things if prophetically things were going to be fulfilled that are shadows that could be a fulfilling time but god can do anything at any time he wants faithful to his word he never said on this particular day at this particular time at this particular hour at this particular minute at this particular second i will do thus and so but why does god have to tell me or you anything concerning that exact time and that's what i just finished saying that that's why i believe jesus said when he comes will he find faith maybe the most precious thing that people could actually think of investigating reading growing in and again it's something you must do for you i can't do it for you but what difference to the child of god and to people who really believe they're going to stand in his presence what difference does it make if you're not bound and taught if you are not tethered and i i don't want to go just yet if your mindset is i i long to be with him in his presence then what what matters it of what time if it's tomorrow if god decides i'm not even going to wait for the rapture you that's the one i want right there in my prayers that's the way god does he says i want that one right there and to the saint he does takes your breath away and i believe when we stand in front for those that are not taken as the full church is gone but maybe some that will go before in the fear in that fear of death or fear of the unknown will probably stand in front of god and say now what what was i fussing about you know death ain't no big deal what was i fussing about i think that's what we're going to find out that all the the tension and the stress and the fear and the whatever it is that we fussed over looking at either the end of our lives or the end of time was for naught what a waste of time when you could have spent that same energy reading god's word praying talking to him i don't know doing something profitable you can't change time anyway neither can i that's you know that doesn't take science to figure that one out but this new new website and the the day and the date is announced everybody get ready make sure you're ready ready for what what am i supposed to get ready for i mean let's just let's just operate under some really crazy illusion here that these people have pegged a date and everybody's gonna drink the kool-aid and they're all believing that's the date and and so what do you do from now until may what what do you do what are you going to do differently tell me are you going to pray harder and ask god for more or better or help are you going to spend less or you go i mean what what what get ready everybody get ready the date is nigh everybody get ready friend when is your time it's your time and if god wants to call his his church home then that's the time that's why there's passages in the bible that say to be looking for his coming not because we're we're in this perpetual state of wanting to die but we're in the perpetual state of looking unto him with the earnest expectation that whenever he comes to take us whether it is prematurely which becomes the tragedy for the ones left behind or whether it's the time someone has lived a full life as we say or whether he takes this whole church if you're looking unto him what difference does it make now i don't know about you but to me it just seems like there's a whole lot of fussing about nothing see most christian i don't think most christians really believe heaven and the reality of of being in his presence how dare you say that well i just did because if if it's like no dr scott was right about this i learned i learned a lesson from him while flying at thirty thousand feet he said you will find out what preachers what most preachers what type of faith they have when you're in an airplane you hit heavy turbulence weather and i know i i got to be an eyewitness who told you the story is dr scott and a whole bunch of uh well-known evangelists i just happen to be along for the ride you're new and it was pretty big pretty big plane private plane and as the plane banked out of the oh those hills there right by orange county banking over those hills hit a good pocket probably i don't know dropped a couple thousand feet real quick like that and you watch it's not just white knuckles but it's the ones that condemn other people for cussing and you find out and right in that moment they got it in them they have plenty of wars in them i just remember looking over at dr scott and he just you know sparkly eye just kind of looked over at me and smiled because he could and i learned that lesson with him when i was just getting started in the faith and i didn't have the faith that i have now and wasn't you know my footing wasn't that strong just i i knew there was something to this word and i kept listening but he and i were flying uh out of dallas we'd just just gotten married this was just probably i think a few months or a year after we got married and it was the full gospel fellowship people that threw a party for dr scott and they were going to open the chapel which is dedicated to mom and pop we had flown there they were they were going to honor him and of course celebrate and we actually we were we were going to do our vows we had already done them once but we were going to redo them at the chapel the scott chapel which we did and as we were leaving dallas and we were in a smaller craft and we we were delayed it was clement weather and we were delayed and suddenly the pilots came in they said okay look up there you see that opening up there there was the clouds that actually just parted enough that there was a little patch of sky you could see because it was terrible weather they said we're going to go through that we're going to we're going to go through that hole right there so you better make it real quick because we have about a 10-15 minute window and the clouds will move and won't be able to take off and i think it was probably a saturday where we were pressed to come back in time for sunday so we got in the plane and i just remember and it was the worst the worst situation that i can recall of it was ripped with fear as we went on the runway and the runway had so much water on it that we were before we even took off we were hydroplaning on the runway and i just remember as we got up and we you feel you're up you're off the ground but i remember the pockets of wind and the storm started and i there was people on the ground there was a couple of staff people and was actually one guy on the ground silly enough to be filming the whole thing i think and uh so we were making our way to that one opening there but we were stuck for what seemed like probably an hour although it was only about 10 minutes in such turbulent tossing and shaking and and as we went a little bit higher pierced through the clouds and we were in that where you can't see anything but as i i looked over at dr scott i saw a lightning strike one two you count them one two three again which means we were flying right in the middle we were flying right in right into the eye of the storm to go over it and we had to get over the clouds get above the storm and that whole period of time being tossed around the lightning is just everywhere and the plane was small enough to just reach across and and i was i was not doing dr scott was as cool as a cucumber just just sitting there and yes a big grin on his face and i said why are you so calm just smiling and then he took my hand he said what time i'm afraid i will trust in the lord and so i kept repeating that i will trust the lord i will trust the lord i will trust in the lord i will trust the lord that i did that until i think i was close to hyperventilating and passing out but we eventually reached the top over the clouds and i'll never forget this i thought wow we're above the clouds but we weren't above we were not far enough above the storm so we would hit these terrible pockets and [Music] he just he just looked at me he said i will trust i will trust so the next five minutes where i will trust i will trust and we went up a little bit more and it was another probably five minutes and finally smooth no more turbulence smooth smooth smooth and he just i looked over at him you know with his it kind of one of those it you know i told you so smiles you know one of those you know you see all the teeth big smile and i just thought okay all right you know it wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be but after that flight it really dawned on me what difference would it have made had that plane crashed somewhere what difference would it have made i mean if your faith is placed in christ and you believe wholeheartedly that you're in him he's in you and you're going to be with him whether you land on the ground you crash you walk whatever it is you do you're going to be with him you have to just put in place in his hands and say i'm trusting you in you lord and believe me i fly almost every month sometimes multiple times and there isn't a single time that i don't say this very thing whether i say it aloud or to speak to myself whether i see you in the air in the clouds or whether i see you on the ground i know i'm going to be in your presence so either way it's all good you know what that's where you see faith conquering fear and that's what god's looking for right to the end to he or does she that overcomes and the overcoming is by faith so we'll just keep teaching and speaking faith and hopefully those of you who are just beginning going through the clouds and turbulence will just say i will trust i will trust i will trust and eventually you'll see the lord brought you through that's what faith in god will do [Music] [Music] is [Music] house
