Is STAR CITIZEN Worth It In 2024?

so Star Citizen just released a brand new update and also the game just passed $700 million in funding which pretty crazy and while the game is still a ways off from release it feels like development is really picking up they're adding a lot of new features introducing a lot of cool new tech and so I decided now would be a perfect time to jump in because if you're like me I still don't know what the game actually is like what do you actually do in the game and so join me today as I discover true exploration sandbox gameplay and of course the glitches looks cool oh and if you like this video click that like button and subscribe for more we are just starting out here and I'm excited to continue this journey with you guys um okay let's get into some Star Citizen all right here we are we made it this is my ship so my goal today is I want to do one Mission from beginning to end and we can discover uh together kind of what this game actually is like what do you actually do um so let's see contracts this is this looks really nice this menu looks slick so here's the problem is that the fun kind of action based content is going to be in some of these like the Bounty Hunter and mercenary but my ship is like a cargo ship and I don't have any weapons so I don't think that these are going to be ones that we can do right away all right we're going to do a retrieval up we're going to do this one so now if we go back to our map pick up package okay so I bet once we take off we'll be able to um get this going so let's see how that goes there there it is all right there we go launch complete there we go I think I nicked the side of the wall on my way out but we made it every single action you take is kind of painstakingly recreated in in terms of like its authenticity you have to press buttons to actually get in the ship you have to press buttons to take off to start engines and if you're into that it's it's like perfect it's really cool um but if you're looking for something where you can get in and play right away uh may not be for you let's see that's where we came from that's a really special feeling being able to take off from a planet into space without any loading screens you just get in your ship you take off so let's pull up our map here and see if we can plot a route is here we go we're jumping that looks cool that looks cool you can actually see the planet getting closer very cool so now we're flying down the planet no loading screens once again which is very cool we're going to pick up a package which is uh probably one of the most exciting things you could do all right little stormy here this is the slowest Landing you've ever seen server [Music] error what all right so the game crashed so we're back at the very beginning starting completely over you just love to see it you just love to see it all right but this time we're not doing no small package delivery Mission we're going to do a mercenary Mission I don't care what they say you got to do some small package deliveries to start off you got to get your feet under you before you jump into the action no we're jumping into the action we're going to do we're going to fly my space truck right into the front lines but I do actually need to find where to buy a weapon please tell me where to find a weapon please okay I mean I guess this will work this is like this is like the gas station uh version of weapons but it's better than nothing we're going to do it now this is the real magic of this game right here being able to fly anywhere I mean just look at that view here we go we're approaching the target Quantum Drive is now okay all right this is good this is good slow down Landing complete doesn't look good the temperature is pretty low that's a problem but I think we're going to be okay probably could have used the land vehicle but I don't have the money for that so you know we're we're doing it old style old school it's going to take a little bit of a it's a little bit more of a run here than I expected that's okay here we go all right going down hello oh these guys all right all right oh we're getting into it all right I only got 18 rounds left last clip got him we need to find them now all right that's it for that gun can we pick this up nice doing okay okay okay this is kind of sick this is pretty cool now I don't know how much variety there is here I wonder if these are all presely generated or if for each like uh Mission like this you do these are the same AI could be smarter we made it we made it to the main frame insert access card what do I have the access card oh that's like can't see anything where's the access card so we maybe just have to check the bodies here let's see what in the world did I just do I see so you have kind of an option there um no access card there all right well let's head back to our ship I think we did enough work to call a day right we don't need to get the necessarily the access card I mean not that big a deal all right we're going to head back to our ship here but that's kind of the gameplay Loop that there is currently you have different missions you can accept and you can play different roles so you can be a mercenary you can uh get into bounty hunting if you want to do that um you can also just do like package delivery or be like a a Tradesman or a miner so there's a lot of different ops options um but what is there is uh is pretty extensive it really is kind of dependent on what you look for in a space Sim what you're looking for in a game are you willing to put in the time and are you willing to um enjoy the kind of more tedious aspects of the game play but that was pretty cool that was a neat little Adventure that we went on even though we didn't have the access card we still I still consider that a massive success if I'm being honest
