the courts hey what's up y'all thanks for coming back for part two of this little series that i'm doing on malorganite malorganite clones and malorganite fakes now in the last video we actually pointed out a fake and i showed you the quickest way to find them all organized fake so i'll link up there if you missed that one this one is all about pricing on the lorger night because the prices have gone up so much over the last i don't know a couple two three years and people are wondering is this still a good value now listen there's gonna be some math in here and i know some of y'all it hurts your heart to go through math i get it but if you'll just make it through this particular video i promise you this is going to actually help you save money on your fertilizer purchases for the rest of your life like no joke this will also help you save your neighbor's money it'll help you wonder when you see things on the news about fertilizer prices are going up well you'll actually be able to take that down to the bag level at your local store or online and figure out what am i really paying and what am i really getting but it starts with this video here where i show you how to break down the value of milorganite so let's get into it learn let's find out what kind of value we're getting for the money because the price of milorganite's gone up and people complain about it things like that so so let's see how that stands up but before we do that we're gonna have to do a little bit of math and just get through this with me i promise you're gonna appreciate this and i will send this out in my weekly email newsletter so you can have it in writing for all of these products we're not going to break the map down that fast on all of them but i'll send that out on the email this week so click below to subscribe to that if you want to get you know more written information about it okay so this would be with any fertilizer but we're just going to use it obviously because this video is about milorganite malorganite clones but there's three things that you want to get off of the bag in order to understand what's what you're actually getting what i would call value for your money the first thing is the coverage i have already written on this because i've tried to shoot this like four times but anyway you can see here it says covers up to 2500 square feet don't worry about the florida on mine that's because i'm in florida all the rest of you 99 of the rest of the grit eating world yours will say this covers 2500 square feet and that's the first thing we need so you'll see i wrote that right there and then the second thing we need to know is how much the bag weighs and you can see this bag weighs 32 pounds you'll see i put that right there and then the other thing we need to know is what's in this bag what's the analysis because this is where the rubber really meets the road they can charge whatever they want for this it can weigh as much as they want they can tell you to put down as much as they want but you got to know what's actually in here and that's right here six four zero so i put that here that is called the analysis that stands for nitrogen phosphorus potassium 640 that's the big three macros and that's what most people look for when they're going to go buy a fertilizer the one i care most about is the first one which is nitrogen so just remember that that's what i kind of use as my litmus test to understand value in a fertilizer on a high level obviously there's a lot of other things you should look at but just on a high level going into the store wondering what i'm getting for my money using just nitrogen is all you really need and the numbers indicate percentages so that means that six percent of everything in this bag is nitrogen four percent of what's in this bag is phosphorus and there is no potassium so just remember that that six is a six percent which translates to point zero six okay so that's the three things we have how much does it cover 2500 square feet what's the weight 32 pounds what's the percentage of nitrogen in the bag six percent if you know those three things now you can really unlock some really good information the first thing we're going to unlock is well how much of this do i have to put down like i don't even know right well that's why we need to calculate what's called the application rate now listen don't lose me here i know we're going into some math and if this is really confusing to you or you're like just lost already i highly encourage you to check out yard care boot camp it's my step-by-step training a lot of people have asked me for years hey do you do personal coaching like one-on-one lawn coaching and i did for a while but i couldn't do it because i couldn't scale it well that's why i created yardcare bootcamp it's literally what i would coach you on step by step by step it's video it's audio like podcast form it's also written form as well as there is a question and answer forum at the end where you can get your specific questions about your specific law answered but only after you go through the training because that training answers most of the questions so check out yardcarebootcamp.com i promise you will demystify all of this but still stay with this video too because i promise you're going to learn something so one thing you for sure want to do is measure your lawn i'll link up there in the eye if you haven't done that but this bag here will cover 2500 square feet so i can take then 32 and divide that by 2.5 and it tells me that my application rate is 12.8 pounds per 1000 square feet so for every 1 000 square foot of lawn space i want 12.8 pounds of malorganite spread evenly across each of those 1 000 square foot areas the way i did that is i took the 32 pounds divided by the bag rate or the coverage rate of 2500 2.5 and you get 12.8 okay furthermore then now i'm gonna take and understand that i got six percent of everything in this bag is nitrogen so if i'm putting 12.8 pounds of raw product across a 1 000 square foot area if i multiply that by six percent it'll tell me what my nitrogen rate per 1000 square feet is and that's how nitrogen is gauged in residential lawn care so what i do is i take that 12.8 pounds of product and i know that six percent of it is nitrogen so that means that there is three quarter .76 three quarter pounds of nitrogen in every 12.8 pounds of malorganite remember 12.8 pounds is going across each 1 000 square foot area of that 12.8 pounds six percent of it is nitrogen which breaks down to three quarters of a pound of nitrogen why does three quarters of a pound matter well it matters because i will tell you that if you apply three quarters of a pound of nitrogen to your lawn doesn't matter what kind of grass you have and it's growing actively you're in the growing season it's going to turn green that's what three quarters of a pound of nitrogen means less can also turn the lawn green and more definitely can but i think three quarters of a pound is great for pretty much any fertilizer it's an excellent rate so that's what three quarters of a pound of nitrogen means it means your lawn's going to turn green so i know i'm getting three quarters of a pound of nitrogen that's great but what is this all going to cost well i can also then break down my cost per thousand square feet so i went to ace hardware and i paid 17.99 for the milorganite remember the milorganite covers 2500 square feet so you can take 17.99 divided by 2.5 and that cost is seven dollars and twenty cents so that means milorganite costs me seven dollars and twenty cents per one thousand square feet if you had an average lawn of five thousand square feet that means that each application of milorganite would cost you 36 remember 17.99 for a bag that covers 2500 square feet i have 5 000 so i have double that so really i have to do is take 17.99 times two i get 36. so with all that math here's what we really want to remember with milorganite as we move down the line and look at these others over here for a 5 000 square foot lawn it's going to cost us 36 per application and we're going to get three quarters of a pound of nitrogen with each application that's what i use to compare the fakes and the clones all right y'all i hope you enjoyed this video thanks for making it all the way to the end that means you actually got through the math and enjoyed it and i hope that you now understand how to break things down a little bit better remember it's that three-quarter pounds of nitrogen per 1000 square feet nitrogen drives a bust that's the main thing that i use as my test to understand what i'm getting and you could do this with any fertilizer synthetics organics naturals big bag little bag doesn't matter you could use the same math on any granular fertilizer to understand what you're getting for your money so hope that's been helpful to you now in the next video we're gonna do the final one i'm actually gonna go through three clones that i found and we're gonna break those down using this math we won't do too much math in the next one because you already know how to do it but i'll break it down and we'll see what's the real value of these clones do they look alike do they act alike do they cost the same and then of course we're going to give them the success test wait for that in the next video subscribe hit the like button all that stuff too so thank you see you guys bye
