hey guys this is steve from trim that weed and welcome to our video of the milo granite versus scots fertilizer watch to the end to find out which of the two is the better choice so the main difference between milo granite and scots is their chemical form while both myelogranite and scots are used as fertilizers they're made differently myelogranite is an organic fertilizer that's essentially made from the sewage system that flows in lake michigan microbes are used to digest the nutrients in the sewage making organic fertilizer on the other hand scots fertilizer is a synthetic fertilizer made in a laboratory setting by combining all necessary elements to create it the process does not involve any natural digestion and this is why it's a synthetic material main composition milo granite fertilizer contains three main components which are nitrogen phosphorus and iron you'll notice that this fertilizer does not contain any potassium but it is actually quite rich in iron because of its iron rich composition this fertilizer is excellent for keeping your lawn looking very green but it does not do much to accelerate growth comparably scots fertilizer also contains three main elements which are potassium phosphorus and nitrogen there's also an added herbicide that keeps unwanted weeds away with such a composition this fertilizer allows your grass a luscious green shade and it also works to promote growth this may call for more frequent sessions of mowing while milo granite is a slow release fertilizer that allows for your grass to stay green scots works to also add growth to the green giving it an all-around purpose application times since they're both used for various reasons they're also applied during different times of the year if you live in warmer regions you should apply the milo granite fertilizer in early spring during the months of february and march and if you live in regions that are colder you should apply the fertilizer in march or april this fertilizer can also be applied in mid-summer in the months of july and august with scots you can apply it in late spring during the months of march and april and warmer regions and in april and may in cooler regions or four weeks after greening it can also be applied in the fall in october and november in warmer areas and september and october for cooler regions milo granite is best applied in the warmer months while scots is ideal to use in the cooler months of the fall application being that milo granite is an iron rich fertilizer that contains very low amounts of nitrogen you can apply it via broadcast method as too much of it will not burn or harm your grass the fact that it's also a slow release fertilizer makes it great for keeping your grass safe and healthy since scots is nitrogen rich too much of it can burn your grass and cause it to dry out when applied for this reason you can only use it in precise quantities to make sure that your grass benefits and that it does not suffer significant damage milo granite will not harm your grass even when applied in large quantities but scots can dry out or burn your grass if used in extremely large quantities comparison table from the table above it's pretty clear that another main difference is that milo granite fertilizer only needs one application step that involves broadcasting it over your grass the scots fertilizer comes as a kit that has four types of fertilizer which are scott's turf builder for preventing crabgrass scott's turf builder for preventing dandelions and clover scott's turf builder against drought and heat and scott's turf builder for grassroots similarities one of the main similarities between the milo granite and scots fertilizer is that they're both excellent for keeping your grass looking green and luscious they both have nitrogen even though not in the same quantities and it is great for giving your grass a beautiful green shade when applied another similarity is that both fertilizers have the ability to influence the development of a healthy grass root system verdict so which one is better if you have a grass lawn that is properly grown and that just needs a boost in nutrients and amount of green the milo granite is best for you however if you're looking to boost the growth of your grass and also add to the green the scots kit is the most ideal if you like this video please hit the thumbs up button and subscribe to our channel also let us know which comparisons you'd like to see next from us
