hello and welcome to this is this thing sucks whoo whoa wao are you trying to tell me that Timmy cook sold me a $3,500 face computer and it is not everything that I ever hoped and dreamed what you talk about over here do you guys want some tea about overclock media do you want me to Spill the tea I thought that this was a waste of money back in the day back in the day like a month ago and I and I think it's even more worth a waste of money today can we just talk about the Apple Vision Pro for a minute because yes this thing is absurdly expensive I think one thing that everyone can pretty universally agree is that the engineering is very impressive really well done the diminishing returns on this product is so steep especially with like audio files and stuff like that it's like the price to Performance is a logarithmic scale that just goes yeah but like this one here feels like it goes and I think that the momentum for the Vision Pro has stalled out quite significantly so a lot of the reason why I wanted to actually talk about this this video today our good buddy Quinn on Twitter the other day was talking about how he had basically decided to not finish up his Apple Vision Pro review because he just doesn't think that Apple cares and that anyone else cares and it really kind of got me thinking because we're sort of in the No Man's Land when it comes to Apple Vision where there's this enormous amount of hike it was the hottest thing freaking logo Paul's walking out to WrestleMania with it like it was just this huge huge thing and then it has dropped off the face of the Earth the hype about this was never about a new product 100% of the hype about this was for a new status symbol no one was ever hyped about this about like oh this is going to revolutionize the way I do productivity no no no no no they were justifying they were trying to justify it I will say a few people I do know have bought and used this thing every day and they've rebuilt their workpace around it no no no no no no I'm calling out on that with Ken because he didn't buy it of course the company bought it and now he's like oh I'll use it in my work which is totally different because like oh if you're going to be giving it to me yeah I'll find a use for it but how many people they bought this like ha look at me doing my stuff and then immediately returned it in the return window I maintained that this was all artificial hype thank you to bombas for sponsoring today's video when it comes to things that you wear every day like socks and underwear and t-shirts quality goes a long go to bombas.com thisis and use promo code this is20 a checkout and again huge thank you to bombus for sponsoring this video now that we're sort of in the no man's land of Apple Vision where you know the hype is kind of died down we're a little ways away from WWDC which is where they're going to announce the next 2.0 version of the software I'm sure and theoretically that will sort of inject some more life into it it also still has not seen an international release I just think it's really interesting to kind of take a look at where this is and how it's set in because my fear going into the Apple Vision Pro launch was it was going to end up like every other VR headset they're going to find it's incredibly cool and the novelty will wear off and ends up collecting dust until the next time some new game comes out or what ever but it doesn't fit into a regular workflow and I would argue that that is the case for a lot of people and I think there's a couple of reasons for it let's say some positive stuff first because I do think it's very much like I don't want this to be like oh vision sucks cuz it Doesn't I think Vision OS is phenomenally cool the fact that you can put your windows everywhere it is relatively powerful very smooth the screens are terrific a big leap over other VR headsets there's a lot that this thing does really well and the fact is you can beam your math display over to it and really use this thing to get actual work done and I think the big bot here me I like but the big downside here is price and practicality $3,500 is an absurd amount of money when the next closest competition is the meta Quest 3 at $500 The Meta Quest 2 which is admittedly getting a little bit old right now the thing's on sale for like $200 the biggest problem with the Apple Vision right above the price above everything else is that it is not in my opinion practical most of the time do you really want want to live your life with the headset on because I'll tell you I don't if you are the kind of person who wants to put the headset on and lock into some real work I think it's a phenomenal tool I do understand that there is potential here the problem though is that what you get out of it is just such an annoying experience you got to put on your face you got to strap it on you got to deal with charging you've got to deal with the fact that it's just sort of uncomfortable we live in a world where you can do lots of things on lots of devices I could do most of my workflow on an iPad if I wanted it's just not as good as a computer so here's the thing all right you can pin your monitors everywhere else you can literally just buy five monitors of good quality and have them set up for less than the cost of this if you have five monitors and you're looking it's okay blah blah blah blah which is why we have the setups we do with this one to make it actually functional you are literally all over the place which is you got your floor monitor your monitor I mean yeah I guess if that's that's fine if you want but it's just a worse version of what we have now think to me the quest two and the three but especially the two feels like it's a great gaming tool you're not going to want to use the quest two for productivity so it is a little bit different it's kind of like you know a cheaper gaming PC versus a highend Macbook it's also cheap enough to get an idea of what it would be like yes so like you could say oh I'm going to spend 200 bucks and I'm like you'll get 80% of what you'll get from this I would say a little less than 80% but you're getting you're getting an idea of what it will do here's my theory okay go ahead oh my God the reason that Apple only sent it out in the US so they could test and say how many of these ended up getting returned before they said oh we're going to do a worldwide launch because they want to see if this if it doesn't work in the US all right it's not going to work anywhere else us has the highest level of douchebags to to income ratio so they said how many how many people bought this and returned it and I bet you that number is above 50% because the only people who really bought these were Rich douchebags or content creators or both all right some tech just isn't it hold on wait wait wait before you finish that sentence yeah are you trying to insinuate that the Vision Pro is actually de away like it's just done for I think it should be really you're you're okay so okay please elabor so I just think VR AR as its form right now has no [Music] purpose in the way it's being sold I'm trying to choose my words carefully sure sure sure a bulky system like this again is just a significantly worse version of everything that we have right now I don't I don't think harsh isn't it that's a har what what what actual benefit do you get to this for me it is an incredibly good implementation of what they have tried to do as a 1.05 and I'm not arguing that point yeah I would ARG my my my main point is there's Tech that has come out and have had a couple things L like 3D TVs so that was cool but it was cumbersome the little bit of coolness is not worth the extra cumbersome until this is in here I just don't think it's it's worth it and the problem with that is you like you could say okay you got to start somewhere which of course of course you do but the jump from this to this is so far away astronomical that how do you justify any versions of these it'd be one thing if like oh this had like if this was a full laptop it's not it's iPad if this was a MacBook Air on your face yeah Suddenly It's a different conversation I don't think it's a dramatic statement to say that every year we get closer and closer to the iPad and the Mac merging every time we get more and more features it just feels like getting closer and closer together at some point we're going to have to have that merger is that the point in which we have the Mac OS iPad Vision OS sort of hybrid where you get all the advantages of Mac OS with full window management all the back compatibility blah blah blah you also have the advantages of iPad OS and vision OS with stuff that's a little bit more touch friendly for the most part if you had some kind of hybrid of that you know you squint a little bit 5 years from now they could have something that running on this headset like I don't actually think that that's a crazy idea so would that not solve that particular issue the argument for lot when this came out was you know we got to get this in the hands so devs can work for it yes what has come out for this that's actually you know I've seen some devs kind of talking about like they've gotten like their apps on like the trending chart or whatever it's like oh I made like 300 bucks or whatever this is like man it's just that's kind of my point no one has it no one's developing anything revolutionary for it yeah although this early days right I feel better about this statement if we're at the end of this year and we've not seen some more killer apps if you're Dev yeah and you're seeing that a lot of people are not this is not in hands and you say okay I can concentrate my effort somewhere else if no one's de uh developing for this then it's never going to gain the traction that it needs to chicken and egg cuz you cannot look at the hype of this coming out because when Apple comes out with a product it's a big Fanfare MH this is all just artificially inflated and so you're not going to have the support you need in something like this to get a meaningful rev 2 rev three rev four what makes more sense is when we can finally have holographic like projectors in the house where your your system is like your laptop and the vision OS is good if you could take your laptop and put a put a screen over here that is H like projected or something like that that makes way more sense it's almost like we have the software but we don't have the hardware to pull that off obviously there's a real possibility that the Vision Pro goes nowhere Apple has no idea what they're doing they spend years in building okay that's what I wish people would kind of acknowledge I do feel like Apple's going to try and shove this down everyone's throat if you look at all the rumors of the new ios's it's all supposed to like be more Vision oses Apple has the ability to Brute Force this and make this the the the device especially Apple who can just like they could take all the R&D into this and just be like me and just write it off like the Apple car yeah and like and and it's just and they'll still be the number two company in the world but here's the thing it's way too early to call on the Vision Pro I agree like this thing could sell absolutely nothing they're going to support it for another 5 years we're going to see this thing evolved we're going to see the SE and the Gen 3 and blah blah blah they're going to make it cheaper it's going to going to get better there's going to be more iones are still more expensive than like are still premium products the big reason why that's okay for a lot of people is the Simplicity of using an iPhone sure which you do not have with this so imagine 5 years from now you can buy one of these for like th000 bucks whatever at that point Vision OS has gotten to the point where it is less of a hindrance and there's more stuff that you can do with it of course more apps it's just more developed you can yeah I think that's an easy thing to assume if you could just sort of extrapolate out a few more years of developments obviously I agree with you and that if this could be integrated a pair of glasses that's the end game right but I think that we're quite far away from this so there's a lot of stuff that needs to happen between now and then I think it's way too early to try to say that this is the death of Vision Pro what of course not right we're in a lull before the next sort of big wave there's going to be more but that L happened way too fast I doe that's my point it was a very boom and bust kind of thing which is unusual for Apple products cuz typically Apple products have a little bit more of an enduring sort of like hype around them and it just went from this went from zero to 100 to zero in like 10 minutes this this but like this was the latest in the Crypt bro fad the same crowd who got into nfts the same crowd who got into stons it got caught in this for For Better or For Worse that's why I just think this like this didn't catch on the way it needed to whe one way or another let us know in the comments what you think about the Vision Pro I don't know I just think for me the Vision Pro has a lot of potential and it's a real coin toss of whether it ends up like the iPad and Perpetual not fitting in never really knowing its space or if we will look back on this andly the right call it just need a little bit of time to kind of settle in I'm very curious what do you actually think about the Apple Vision Pro obviously almost no one should buy this thing right now Nob brainer do you think that there's a future for the Vision Pro do you think we'll be talking about this the same way we talk about you know tablets and computers and whatnot or do you think that it's too expensive too weird and people are either going to just use a meta Quest or wait for AR I'm very curious let us know in the comments below it's really an interesting time and I think that if you're interested in Tech you got to appreciate what they've done with the Vision Pro but because you appreciate something doesn't mean you need to buy it or I don't know I don't appreciate you and I want to return you like follow subscribe and we'll catch you in the next one [Music]
