Internal Cracks

by Dave pally integrity survey man I've spoke about in class outside now we talked about to practically find inside [Applause] after coming by Dave pal from integrity surveying guys spoke about cracks external now I'm just going to show you how the problems with internal cracks and especially here it's a really good example of cracking between two doors throughout the plaster work and also loose and missing plaster work now this is a particularly severe example and only not as bad as this but the reason that this occurs is that you've got two doors here that shut unto framework with the frame here supporting the brickwork this in order type house and they never used to put linkle's in so all that brickwork is resting on top of the doors so every time you open the door and close the door there's a force on the frame and when you shut it to is a slight vibration and over time that will cause cracking such as this here so generally hairline cracks around doors are due to the operation of the door so that's one area you'll find we've got another point upstairs where there's another cracking wall just going to show you that one so this is another place where unifying cracks these stairs are timber and as you can possibly hear their creaking that's because they've worn over time they flex slightly become little loose and that happens also to the side of the stairs as well which is where you get other cracking now this part the stair ties to the walls called the string you very often get cracks running down here that's because when the stairs flex this also moves very very slightly cousins knocking it's only hairline it's not critical but when you're looking at a property and you see cracks like that that's most likely what it is so we've got the cracks around the doorframes we've got cracks to the stairs and hopefully they're helpful yems thanks for listening you
