how two cousins it's old rusty the reseller here I buy and sell things and try to make a profit on them among the things that I buy and sell regularly is jewelry have you ever inherited a bunch of jewelry maybe some was given to you or maybe you just ended up with some whether you got it somewhere else or you bought it and you're not exactly sure what you have how much value does it actually have is it costume or is it fine jewelry well I'm going to show you how to properly look at this stuff today in this video so that you will not accient get rid of something that has good value um we're going to get into several other things as well I want to talk to you about some items it's good to have with you when you're Outsourcing and generally speaking how I go about packaging up and selling this stuff let's do it now [Music] before we get into all the goodies here that we're going to talk about today oh yes we've got goodies folks I promise you um I want to talk about three items that you should have when you're Outsourcing all right we're going to start off with this this is not a great example it's just one I had on the desk here this is it's from the Smithson Museum shop but it's a magnet it's a magnet on the end this just happens to have a handle but you can buy small magnets you can find and you probably have some just laying around your house you want to have a magnet because silver and gold jewelry is not magnetic so if you're in a store and you're searching around you're looking at stuff you're holding a necklace or a ring or something and you suspect that it might be made out of a precious metal just hold that little old magnet up there and test it out see if it is or is not so if I come over here and do this on on some of these things you you'll notice things are popping up okay so if I was wondering well I wonder if this is gold and you just didn't know any better nope not gold because it's magnetic okay so that's the first line if you know that it doesn't mean it doesn't have value you're going to have to do further inspection which we'll talk about in this video but having a magnet with you at all times is great the other thing you're going to want to have at all times is a loop a loop is just a very small magn fing glass Jewelers use them to inspect uh gemstones and other things I've got a variety of different types there's all kinds of different brands and makes and designs of little Loops you can do something as basic and cheap as this here's one that has three different ones these are different levels of magnification depending on how closely you're wanting to look at something okay um this one here same oh my goodness hold on where was that that my goodness no my goodness gracious here no this is so frustrating I do this every time no maybe it's under here no oh I found it okay uh very sorry about that um okay okay so here's one magnifying it's a double Loop uh uh jewelry it's you got a a 30 and a 60 time we got a uh you know this what we have here is one that has a light on it boom so if you're looking at something you can shine a light on it and it makes it easier uh to see so that's easy too it's small still hold on now it's still small come on there we go fish in your pocket here's another one that's nice to just sit on the desk here and uh you know here's one this one is a what is this it's a 10 times you can get 8 * 10 you know all the way up into 64 I mean there's a lot where you can look really really closely but I like this one especially when I'm say looking at postcards and I want to see what's going on in there or maybe I'm looking for the date of when it was postmarked so you need to have a magnet you need to have a loop and I also recommend that you have a small scale you'll see that this one is roughly the size of a smartphone that might fit in your pocket it's even lighter weight than that I'm not necessarily suggesting you take this into every store but it's nice to have this in your car and here's why if you buy a piece of silver jewelry or gold jewelry or even if you buy some loose gemstones you're going to want to know what the carrot weight of those are um and so this particular um you know scale here can can uh can weigh in grams it can weigh in carrots it can weigh in it's very small um you don't want something real heavy on this but uh as long as it's 100 gram or less this can give you an accurate uh weight now why would you want to know that well because silver and gold for example they have a daily and it fluctuates daily as well but there is a specific weight or sorry a specific value assigned to one gram of sterling silver or one gram of 14 carat gold and so if you want to get a head start and know kind of what you're you're dealing with or maybe there's something inside store and you don't know how much it weighs so you want to bring that you just ask hey can I go to the car and get my scale you bring it in you weigh it you'll know roughly your bottom line as far as how uh the least amount of money you get for it which is just the scrap weight of that metal and you can know that by having this all of these things together are relatively inexpensive you know you can get these for $15 maybe less than that these are probably six OR7 I mean you can buy these on Amazon and all kinds of places definitely have these this is tier one you definitely need to have these when you're Outsourcing two more things that I would recommend and this aside from the ones we already mentioned earlier is a couple of other items so if you want to up your game if you're getting into a lot of jewelry and things like that you should probably have something to test gemstones that will tell you whether or not it's a diamond or not it's a sapphire or not you know these other things this can test and tell you first of all is it glass glass or plastic or is it an actual gemstone okay if it's a gemstone what type of gemstone is it this type of a tester is not cheap there are cheaper testers that will test for just diamonds for example um that you can get this one is going to run you about I don't know 200 between $200 and $300 I can't remember it's been a while since I purchased it but it's super valuable to have if you're going through the volume of stuff that I have so get yourself even a cheap diamond tester can help you out so that you don't pass up on something that is actually nice then the other thing I would recommend is this little doohickey this is a caliper it's a digital caliper and so what this does folks is um you can take let's say the diameter of a ring or maybe of a gemstone and you want to know what size of the stone it is you can put this in here and you close it off on it until it gets to the size of it and it's going to tell you oh this is a four you know 4.2 or a 3.8 millimeter Stone uh you know alternatively you can measure the internal diameter something so if I want to know how large a ring is or something you know you can use a mandrel those those long things that you stick a ring on it tells you the size a sizer but if you have other reasons to measure the inside of something you can flip it around and use this side where it's just going to measure from side to side the internal dimensions of something these are not that expensive folks it's nice to have I'll show you a little bit later with a diamond piece of jewelry that I can test and tell yes it's a diamond and and then I can come over here and I can roughly determine the size of that all of this information is helpful when you're trying to go to list an item for sale what you're looking at here folks is just oodles and oodles of gorgeous costume jewelry and it's just sort of piled up on here this is not uh the best way obviously to store it I'm going to go through all this um now here's the deal I'm not going through all this with you today um and I know the rest of your teas I'm so sorry but I got some important stuff to talk to you about I'm going to show you some cool things but look at the I mean just look at some of these beautiful uh pieces here the nice open backs for the uh for the gemstones um got some beautiful I'm just trying to pull out a handful of pieces here some higher end costume pieces uh you know look at this right here again very beautiful it's set up with the pen which is a part of the over overall design at the top here you got a section where it could be hung as a pendant from a necklace beautiful beautiful piece um there's some other nice pieces in here that are a little bit different with this wire design some people have told me they believe this is probably a Giuliana piece though I don't know for sure and uh and then we got some other like very large large pieces like this things reminiscent of yeah c Juliana Shriner uh Weiss some of these but it's really good to see these open backs it's good to see these pins that are built into the design and not um soldered on Andor glued on after the fact uh but the reason I have these out folks believe it or not is because I sold the majority of these in a lot to someone recently and you know what they did they got them and then they sent them back to me they said oh you know I don't think I can make I sell and I don't think I can make enough out of these and so I'm going to send them back I'm like well okay uh all right so I had to send a bunch of money back and then they sent me these back and you know what happens every time that happens to me well I've already got more stuff in since I sold them more things have come in so uh I just add them I add them to it and then I sell it for more beautiful little piece here some of these I've already talked about and shown on some of these other videos but they're beautiful very nice high-end pieces is if I can't get a good buyer for this entire lot then I'm going to end up going through and just listing them all individually the problem is it's just that like it takes a long time to sell them I make I do make more money off of them long term if I do it that way it's just that uh I accumulate more in the meantime I'd rather kind of move some large volume but anyways this is not really what we're going to get into today I got something hopefully even more exciting and that is I got a bunch of stuff given today and so why don't we go through it together in the beginning of this video in my introduction I said well what if maybe you inherited or maybe you just ended up with some jewelry that was given to you the reason I mentioned that is today actually and this is great because I was planning on doing a video anyways is that this jewelry box which you see is wrapped up here was just given to me I met a guy not long ago while I was out sourcing he does the same type of thing I do we started to get friendly with one another talking about this and that and he did a lot of uh clothing stuff so we didn't really work on selling the same types of things but he got a hold of me and you know I had some clothing that didn't sell real well I I moved off to him so he could try to make a buck on it and then he sort of reciprocated that he contacted me and said hey Rusty I uh I end up with some some of this uh some costume jewelry and wondered if you wanted to do something with it you can just have it and so I rolled by his house today I picked it up I've not even gone into it feels fairly heavy I don't know what all is in here but we're going to take a look together and this will give you an idea if you have a jewelry box you're going to open it up you can do exactly as I'm going to show you by looking at this and inspecting it and hopefully you will not uh donate or get rid of some stuff that has some good value let's get into it right now I'm going to cut this open I'm going to open this up and we're going to look at it together all right so here we go I'm going to try to come up here I'm going to cut this this junk up here with my with my blade see if I can't get it oh some cutting going on here don't want to cut myself um I flipped it around here so now we on the right side and uh let's see let's see what we got I'm going to open this puppy up here oh my that's nice okay so we got a good amount of stuff in here all just sort of loose got a quarter man we're already making money aren't we uh let me move this over here set it I'm set this puppy down I'm going to pull this one out too uh and so what I'm just going to do is give me a moment I'm just going to B basically dump all this in one pile here on the table and then we'll just sort of sort through it make our piles and I'll tell you give you my rationale for how I'm going about this process okay I've dumped this out now I'll tell you the silliest thing and this this has happened to me before but there were a bunch of like loose business cards and various things that would have come out of someone's wallet or their purse and no joke there was some like personal identifying information here there was like debit cards and like old bank cards and like some information on checking account numbers and stuff and I just pitch that stuff folks like I don't you know if that ever happens like do the right thing and just get rid of that stuff you know uh I'm not going to mess with that stuff that doesn't have value to me they they probably should have pulled that out uh before whoever got this um strange but anyhow let's kind of go into this like I see a bunch of loose stuff I see some kind of cool things what I like to do in the beginning is I sort things based on what I see initially does it seem like Fine Jewelry I'm going to put that pile St that I know and or suspect is fine jewelry in fact I might put stuff I know is in pile and stuff that I suspect but needs further investigation in a pile then I'm going to put every I'm going to put stuff that needs to go in the trash directly in the trash just get rid of it and then the rest of costume stuff whether it's high-end or basic costume stuff I'm putting in a pile that's round one after that I'll go to each of those piles and inspect them more specifically and I'll give you some uh some guidance on that but first off let's go through here and start to sort this stuff into their appropriate categories so off the bat I'm not going to I'm not going to Target this in any specific way I'm just going to take stuff that seems like it goes in a certain pile and move it over there right so we got this this is like a little thing that like a medallion or something that maybe would have been a part of a necklace at some point but it's costume move it over here and little earrings and stuff I don't know yet if ones that I find will have pairs so I got to put them off to the side and this is also costume so I'm going to do that here's just a little pen that was was glued onto something that's no longer attached that goes in the trash here's another what appears to be a costume ring going into the costume pile here's a little ring that's kind of cool uh doesn't look like silver or gold to me but if we if we uh kind of look on the inside here and we rotate it I'm hoping that I'm going to find something that oh here we go okay so it says tungsten carbide so let's see if this would even go on my finger you know it's a perfect fig on my ring finger there tungsten carbide so I'm just going to hold on to this on my finger just see how it feels here for a moment folks don't sue me so this looks like a a costume earring I'm just going to go over here we got a cute little charm here what is this I love football so good now the tarnish on that looks a little bit like it could be silver let's flip it over oh yep you see that right there on the back on the top see that it's upside down right there on the top 925 good our first piece of you know Fine Jewelry it's made out of sterling silver that's going to go in a little pile over here wonderful this is a nice looking brooch and it appears as though all of the little faux pearls are on it it's a nice little piece flip it over and take a look we we'll get into more specific investigation later but that is a costume piece I believe here's another here's a necklace oh that's kind of might have to do a little bit of untangling situation well looks like we got some earphones in here that's nice I don't necessarily want to stick in my ear and get someone's ear wax all mingled up with mine little ear wax you know mixings it's not going to that's not going to work for anybody so I mean they might work but look how old this uh this a very specific um type of a a thing here you got a little button what do we got here Samsung I mean they might be worth something that it's not jewelry but it might have a value we'll have to look at up that's not costume jewelry but that's going in its own separate pile okay o a nice little probably like a costume necklace I'm going to go up to the hinge and look we got a little hang tag that's nice that's going to help us out it's going to say the maker most likely uh it says NR NR on one side and then it says Avon so yeah Avon costume brand costume jewelry goes right there here's a little Buckle type or a door knocker style earing it's a single that goes there oh here's a lovely piece what do we have these look like like uh simulated emeralds and simulated diamonds however who knows it could be made of silver or gold certainly gold color just CU it's a gold color doesn't mean it it's not silver though because they make goldplated silver stuff so we got a little hinge here I don't know if I can do it with my one hand it's got a little press button here uh to kind of open open up the class let me see if I can get her open real fast and then I'll show it to you okay here she is so I've got her undone uh has a little clasp here where it would it would connect isn't this beautiful this is a nice this would be considered probably like a tennis bracelet I do these do very much look like lab created emeralds but what we want to do is flip it over and and just inspect really fast because I want to make sure I put this in the right pile I think this is probably going to Warrant more inspection but I do see that there's some writing on the bottom here of this clasp so we're going to come back to this this is is not going immediately into the costume stuff this is actually going to go into needs further inspection okay okay costume earring costume earing costume earring going over here we go more of these this ring feels weird on my hand cuz I'm not used to wearing it but that's okay I'm not backing down now I got to just push through um get off of here you booger oh okay well back to that in a second you pasty boogery thing there you go okay now we got a little uh what we got here like a little pendant oh nice little white uh could be some sort of an agot or something well I don't like the look of the back of that and there's no hangtag I'm saying I'm going to say costume I'm moving it over what's this big old black thing here uh a nice little uh costume necklace it looks like it's pretty that's pretty beefy I would use the word chunky right if I was listing that oh here's nice gold tone earring don't immediately see anything on it so I'm going to call that costume for now here is a a um a brooch but you can see it is missing Stones all over the place so that's going into costume but that will probably be separated out into a pile of stuff that is damaged right you got an old Pulsar probably from the 7s or 80s ladies watch yep Pulsar you can see this and it just says stainless steel back so there's no gold content on this that's costumes I'm going to put that with a costume well I may make a separate pile for for watches because it looks like there's more than one watch in here what do we got over here Pulsar again another one good you can roll over here with my other with your buddy um here's a little oh look a little um scarf clip or something like that you can see this pops up and down I'm going to call that costume here's a little necklace little silver tone here what we got going um over here we got the uh we got the traditional claw clasp and I can't tell if there's a number on that kind of looks like there might be a number on that claw which probably if it's silver would indicate that it's silver that's going over here we need further investigation on that o another nice large Erin let's go into costume here is what does it say it says Paulo PA ol L I believe that's costume but that might be a nice brand I'm not familiar with Pao uh here's another nice little earring uh we'll do further investigation on that though but it looks uh a little sweet that's costume here's a ring that's cool looking this is kind of a looks modern but it's looks like a Georgian what I'd call a Georgian style ring and if we flip it over what do we see underneath here looks like it says Avon Avon again you see how I'm always looking at the inside of the ring or on the underneath side that's where I get my information so so far what he said is correct it's probably all costume is what he said to me um and I said okay well you know I can do some stuff with costume jewelry so I'll give her a look another ear in here what we got here a couple of little tiny little pieces here is a tiny little uh earin uh it's like a pearl with a gold colored post so that could be a gold or gold fill post I'll move her over here here's a nice little charm um beautiful now this looks like it could be gold or silver just upon PA looking at initially what does it say on the back here oh look at that it says some like a heart o 14k so we're going to test it but this might be our first known or marked gold piece well that's great back in here now uh what do we have here we got another watch this says Kim Rogers and uh that's a a brand that I see quite a bit um in ladies watches but we're going to put that in the watch category here looks like a costume earring that has missed is missing whatever little plastic Medallion or thing would have gone on there getting through here's a pair they look like costume earrings a lot of earrings and costume pieces at that I mean you can see on the back see all that glue on there it's not even soldered on that's kind of a Telltale sign that you're looking at at costume a costume piece um here's an earin with a nice gold colored hoop however the post that goes through your ear is a silver color and so here's a little hint if you're looking at earrings and use to one of the things that would make you want to look closer and suspect that it might be made out of gold is that if the post is a gold color also but when you have earrings that are gold color but the post is stainless steel or something like that it's usually not made out of gold right and gold is hypoallergenic and that's why people like to have silver or gold in their ears because it doesn't irritate the skin like other types of metals here's a little brooch uh it may have been made this way with the river being shown but I suspect there was probably a rhinestone glued in there at one time that has fallen out and that's not a problem I can fix that um but I'm going to I'm going to go I don't let say this is costume although I will inspect it more I'll inspect everything a little bit closer we just sort it in the beginning for now here's uh some Christmas oriented um you know earrings pull all of this get a little bit closer here because we're winding down here I found a couple of Dimes uh cash money currency is going to go in its own pile here CU it's not jewelry uh here that's going to a little screw screw is going to go in the trash here's a little key an ace key so this is something that someone has another key made out of an Ace Hardware um I don't know what it goes to I may not throw it away though even though I don't have a lock or know what it goes to you know people will buy just keys I may not sell this individually but I'll throw it in with a lot of other keys so that's going to go in its own pile over here because it's distinctly different than the other stuff we've been looking at here's some more costume earrings oh look at this another key perfect Ace different size uh and a different shape but look we got we might even make a whole a little lot of just Keys here's another costume earring lots of these earrings you kind of got to blow through the stuff that's not as valuable to get to the stuff that is here's a part of an earin a costume that broke off here's a plastic backer both of those are just going to go into the trash Penny over here what are we going to find we've already found some silver folks very likely found some gold and so I'm real excited now to go through the rest of this because what are we going to see another little costume brooch here that's nice another little ER in looks like it says Monae on the back which is a pretty well-known costume brand so we're going to put these in the costume stuff here another little ear in here here's a little uh thing to mount a screw into drywall I don't need that that's not that's not anything here we got a little clip like a tie bar type clip uh like goes over a tie or something it's the Swank brand and look at that 120th kg or kgf that means 12th 12 12th of the metal here is 12 karat uh gold it's filled means there's a a thin layer of gold filling on the outside of it so it has gold content so I'm putting it over here because that has a different value um than a lot of the stuff that you're looking at here um here's another costume piece looks like we'll go back and look for um Brands and stuff a little bit later to see if there's anything a higher here's that little blue piece that probably came off of that one I saw before this is just weird so I'm going to pull it up here State Farm and it's a little box of uh colored pencils oh it's great that has some value too folks somebody might want that they might collect them who knows who knows what I might do with that but I'm not throwing it away right away here's some more costume earrings trying to grab stuff that's loose that won't get tangled up another earring that's missing a bunch of stones here's that other that other uh kind of door knocker style earring there's another one of those it said poo so that's good we got a full we got a full here's another Penny we got a full uh a pair here's another one ah so so that piece that I pulled off in the beginning uh this is the actual pendant that goes on a very large like round necklace and uh we got a little uh and we got the earin piece attached so you know that piece that fell off that was broken it came off of the other one that wasn't earing so unfortunately I won't have that full pair but I'm going to lay that over in the costume stuff for now because even if I don't sell it individually I could throw it in a lot of just you know uh broken pieces things that people might buy in bulk for for costume uh or for um you know crafting and things like that here's a nice little earring right here flip her over well that's cute right um going to go in the costume though because it looks like those are glued in I'm not seeing anything in case highend here's a here's a little clipp ear in ELC that's a costume brand black kind of rhinestone type stuff there earring costume earring oh here's a nice piece look at this so this is a brooch I wouldn't be surprised if this is also a gold filled piece you can see some tarnishing some corrosion on that that's not great uh probably and see that leaf has been bent over it I suspect it had one of these Lo faux Pearl on it at one time also so but if we flip it over we're looking around well nope I don't see any indication that it has gold fing on it but I believe it probably does but we'll put this over here with the other gold filled piece um because I suspect they're they're similar what else do we have here some big necklaces and things that are going to want to get all tangled up this one's held together because it's got a little uh an old um stick pin in it get that end off and now we're looking at a little old little little floral stick pin that's nice you know stick pins can be made out of silver gold filling or solid gold as well it can be on the pen or on the back of it this is costume but uh might be gold filled so I'm going to I'm going put the uh make sure I leave the little end cap on there for it as well all right no more silver yet here is a nice little pendant with various rhinestones some of them are discolored here as you can see pinks and white and faux um it looks like a faux um turquoise here if you turn it over in the back you see in the bottom it says Sarah COV Sarah covry it's a pretty well-known and also collected costume brand that's a nice little piece provided all those stones are intact but it is costume okay another screw another piece there we are really getting in it most of the stuff we've been seeing here folks so far is pretty modern costume stuff so we got a nice little pile of costume jewelry so far and listen again this was all given to me I have no money in this so there is definitely money to be made here here's a cute little um looks like a cardinal bird and it says 258 vs swba I don't even really know uh what that stands for but we'll have to look it up it's costume thing here looks like a little uh brooch very nice uh Ryan Stones faux pearls on the end gold tone flip it over looks like there's a little Mark marking right here see if I can zoom in on it and see what it says Avon and so yeah nice little Avon piece um here we've got a nice ring okay now this looks like it could be made out of silver um if we look real close on it here come on Zoom do you see just how the wear is I mean it looks like I would be very surprised if it wasn't silver but let's look on the inside and see what what happens here see if we see anything any markings not seeing anything but this looks like an artisan made piece of sterling silver a ring that you could put on and so I'm going to I if it warrants further testing I'm going to put it over here that's a nice little ring here's a nice what I believe to be a costume uh necklace and uh what do we got here some cool little uh I'm trying to look for a clasp or where it terminates see here we go that's one side where's the other side at oh well it's just it's just held on here so this is kind of a mix oh here we go here we go here we go okay it says HS what does the other side say Avon Avon again a lot of Avon stuff here that's going in the costume pieces what do we have here this is a cute little necklace I had to I had to pull this apart because it was holding on to stuff but you got a little a little necklace here with some faux Rin tones and things glued in so we're going to um we're going to put that into the costume we also got these earrings that are held together now these are gold color with like a pearl or or a faux Pearl I'm not sure um these Warren testing I want to know are these just regular metal or are those made out of gold I'm going to set them over there here's another watch we've got a women's watch Caravel by boliva so it's like a lesser brand lower quality brand uh than bll OFA branded stuff by itself um here's a little black necklace CH I'll have to look that up I don't remember what brand that is but I believe that's costume o a little baggie that'll be nice to get into in a minute what do we got here here's a little um a little pendant ooh look at the shad on that that's beautiful flip it over what do we got here what does it say it says 925 and I believe it says a CZ so this is probably a cubic zerconia and it's made out of sterling silver wonderful look at this little pile of silver and gold we got so far well here's a nice little ring a gold tone ring uh some Stones you can see this one right here in the Bottom by my thumbnail heavily darkened so that's a tilt sign this is probably costume I wouldn't be surprised if this is a goldplated ring and there's a bunch of writing on the inside there so this warrants further inspection we're putting it in that I'm going just going to go ahead and um I guess I'll dump these I guess I'll dump those out in a second but let's just keep let's just keep at it here while we're still going here's a little necklace um let's get the other end of it what do we got here pull it on through pull it on through okay a little a little uh little clasp here uh holding on doesn't I don't see any markings for silver or anything but I do want to test it so let me do that all right I was having a bunch of trouble with uh the camera trying to um you know get itself uh uh oriented correctly so what I've done is I've I've just dumped everything here and I'm making everything stationary I'm just going to show it to you now I think that'll work better today so we got this interesting necklace here look at this boy this thing is long too it just keeps going oh man and now if this was solid gold this should be probably a $2,000 necklace uh I love the look of the links that's really nice um but what I need to do is I need to sort through and see if there is a clasp and yes there is very nice oh and there's a hang tag so what do we got Monae okay so it's costume jewelry that's a bummer I would have loved it if that had been solid gold but it might be goldplated but we're going to put that in the costume jewelry spot anyways okay so we got a couple of rings here we got these or earrings rather with these really interesting tube looking designs of kind of a plunger type of a thing uh they're gold colored although they look a little tarnished but these weren't further inspection I'm not going to get rid of them immediately I'm throw them over here looks like we got two pair all right I'm less confident that they might be worth something oh look at this heavy this heavy wear on the top I bet this is goldplated and the gold plating is wearing off I'm still going to put it over here look at this oh look at this this is a looker looks like a simulated um uh Emerald Bo it's it's pretty though with some simulated diamonds I'm saying simulated cuz I I would not believe I would not expect this to be a solid gold ring but uh we're going to look on the inside of it okay well there is some riting it doesn't mean it's solid gold but it it warrants further inspection pretty small but it's kind of a cool that's a kind of a cool piece right we're going to throw that over there here's some more earrings still this plunger design right but more of a silver tone now here's another ring we've got that's nice some little stones at the top we'll flip it over and we're going to we're going to roll rotate around is there anything written on it yep there is doesn't mean it's highend but we're going to put that in the in the further inspection oh Li we got like a a costume pendant here would have gone on a necklace astrological sign for the Libra put that in the costume stuff right out away there what is this little thing oh it just looks like a a little part that would have gone on maybe a watch a watch band um but I am going to test this because sometimes Parts components to watches can be made out of gold or silver so I'm going to do some further inspection on that here's a nice little um this maybe two different things got looks like a bracelet well I'm not going to now let's look at the clasps and see if there's anything to see here uh clasp there I don't see any writing on those well yeah maybe there is so I guess I'll do um this is what does that say it's got some initials that might be highend it might be silver we'll inspect that further here's uh this kind of little bit oh it's got some more junk kind of tangle that's what happens folks when you buy these Lots they just kind of get uh all tangled up here's like kind of an expandable type of a bracelet type of a thing well no it's a necklace rather I guess yeah it's a necklace but it looks like costume to me it's plastic throw that in the costume stuff now this is a beautiful piece look at these gorgeous glass beads Artisan hand Bown glass beads got some other beautiful glass uh clear and red um well I say look at that maybe these glass these C oh you know what these were at one time coated with this red plastic these clear ones are not supposed to be clear okay that's an indication that this is probably costume let's look at the clasp and see is there any indication of silver no there is not it's costume but I think because of these beads that will still have some value so we'll we'll roll it over there here's a little ring oh nice nice little Stone in the center beautiful beautiful little ring the way it's constructed makes me think this might be the real deal uh we'll look on the inside is there anything written on the inside can't quite tell um yeah there's a little Mark so we're going to man that's beautiful so we're going to roll that off to the side as well here's another little ring this looks like it could be silver or gold yep there's a tiny little Mark in there somewhere probably sterling silver looks like some marcasite Stones that's nice wow we're getting some good stuff to look at here this is definitely more than just costume here's another here is a costume um stick pin though me unwind uh it's kind of it's kind of attractive sell that in a lot lot of costume stuff got a little uh is that an eagle it is it's a push pin Eagle even pens like this can be made out of silver or gold though so you need to turn them over and take a look my guess is this was dipped in like a gold plating uh but we'll look at that a little bit more in a moment some more costume earrings here uh I'm going to put these all in the costume batch here's an interesting little um it's like a it's not a glass it's um it's like ceramic it's like hardened in a in you know an oven or something where they cook it uh and then you've got these blue stones that looks to me uh like it could be lapis lais s uh and possibly some sterling silver beads I don't know let's look at the clasp and see if if there's any indication that it could be um made out of silver uh let's see yep I see a little Mark right there looks to say 925 we'll we'll inspect it closer though so I'm going to put that in the nicer section okay moving along we're getting down to the last few bits here um and we got a couple of necklaces that are all goodness a bunch of stuff is sort of all connected here's a little costume beaded um bracelet that as you can see as I pull it apart it has a magnetic clasp Boop easy to come on easy to come off that's costume let's put this stuff together here's that other Erin uh from the one I saw earlier remember that that had the gold Post in it um so I'm going to put this off to the side because I already already had one um here's a nice couple of nice necklaces actually let me spend just a moment here see if I can't get this junk untangled okay nice so here we are we got like a jade kind of color uh uh of stones but I believe the small ones here in in in the middle uh because of the the the way that it looks is is a stone a mineral called malachite Malachite and then we're going to look at the clasp here is there any indication that this might be made out of silver stering silver I'm not seeing uh seeing that doesn't mean it's not but I think it's costume it's it's pretty nice though I mean it's not ugly another little uh we saw one of those earlier that goes into that oh here's a little earring uh what do we think about this earring here come on now camera goodness gracious so I think we saw one of those maybe earlier I don't think that's made out of silver but we'll look at it a little bit more closely later here's another nice necklace um kind of got that iridescent Aurora Borealis look to it some other glass beads here's the clasp is there any information we can get from that area uh it doesn't look like it maybe maybe not nope it looks like a nice little costume piece with something else trying to hold on holding on for dear life oh my goodness I'm going to get this untangled okay got that untangled we're going to get to it here we are a nice little black glass uh uh necklace looks like maybe check uh like check glass possibly no indication of gold or silver on it it's costume I believe oh look at this this is nice and this is okay it's a necklace when I saw it it looked like it might be a a key a chain like a fob for an old pocket watch or something but we have an interesting pendant here with several uh things that's interesting turn it over is there any indication of what we might be looking at here ah yes do you see this Mark right here um that is uh Premier Designs and it's a costume brand but you know what this uh this uh this necklace is just cool looking the links situation it has the bar like you would have maybe um on the opposite end of a pocket watch you know what I think I might do with this is take off this pendant and I have a clasp on one side that would attach to a pocket watch and I may try to sell it as a pocket watch chain I think I could get more money out of it doing that but that's sort of like a deeper a different level of of of reselling but okay what are we left with here quter yes I'll take that no problem we got this uh just little chain that came off of something it might be made out of silver further inspection uh here's another one further inspection some of that little plastic stuff that's coming off here is uh a little bracelet what do we got here does what does it say let me pull it up here and see if I can't zoom in what do we got here come on what is this say here can you guys see I can't hardly see because this Deon uh camera doesn't want to zoom for me it has a Mark I think it says 925 I think that's sterling silver great okay last last thing we have here is this beautiful little um necklace and can we get zoomed great this is a cute little necklace it's got these little rhinestones um it's it's really nice I'm going to try to find the end the class here we go so here's the clasp here it is oh it has rten that's good news folks that's good news this little flat part here and what is it going to say goodness gracious can you please what do it got oh it looks like gold folks it looks like gold so this is where we're left folks this pile is costume jewelry we've got a few watches here we got some colored pencils a couple of keys we got about 40 30 let's see 45 47 cents in cold hard cash or change rather so all three of these including this really pretty one with the green stone ended up being either goldplated or gold filled and I know that because I did further scratch testing on that which I'll show in a different video we've got some videos that talk about that but this Stone upon further inspection as well is not even actually an emerald I believe that this is what they they basically um it's like a glass that was made out of like ground up paste and then they made some sort of a stone out of it it's still an attractive piece it'll still bring some money but these are not solid gold but look at this all of these pieces the clasp on this and then all of these are made out of sterling silver and of course again uh I'm going to demonstrate what I talked about earlier we need to put this on here and if any of these things jump up onto this magnet then I'm then I'm I'm wrong and or the marking on it is made just to fool you but looks like these are all staying in place so that's all sterling silver and then look at this folks this is what's so exciting this beautiful uh tennis bracelet here turned out to be 10 karat solid gold oh my goodness we'll weigh it in a minute and we'll get the Baseline now the stones are present and so I can't exactly know the price of it cuz I would have to technically remove all of those stones before I weigh it but we can see what the weight is this ended up being 14 karat gold I thought these might be gold but let's test to begin with let's test anything here any movement no any movement here okay so here's an interesting thing we'll do look at this so there is a little bit of movement see that a little bit not on the Chain itself but a little bit here on what they call the jump ring and so the ring itself this round ring is not solid gold this might have been a replacement put on later but the necklace itself in this little flat portion here that has the mark it is 14 carat solid gold so we got 10 karat gold 14 karat gold 14 karat gold I have a gold jump ring I'm going to take this one off that um Is Not Gold and put a gold one on it so it's complete and then watch this folks we're good look at that boom okay so I was thinking maybe these gold colored posts are gold they are not they're magnetic so they're going to go into this pile over here one thing I didn't find earlier and I guess I dropped on the FL is this ring it's really interesting it's carved but it's black and so what you're looking at here is a ring made entirely out of onx which is a mineral it's a carved onyx ring very cool not costume not like fine fine jewelry but somewhere in between but I'm going to put this over here kind of with these but I'm very pleased look at this necklace folks it's got some kind of cool Stones I think the next thing to do folks is to test these are these diamonds are they something else they're set into 14 karat gold we need to do some further investigation we also need to test these stones and see what they are now before we get in any further tests I'm going to tell you I'm going to sell this item as it is uh it has a sterling silver clasp on it so I'm going to put I'm going to mark that say it's sterling silver and then I'm going to note that this is lapis with some sort of artisan made um you know ceramic type beads this piece because the beads here are flaking off and they just don't look good in uniform what I'm actually going to do is clip this and I'm going to trash the I say trash you know what I'll probably put the beads and these beads into a lot of just craft supplies and then I'm going to sell these um bigger glass beads in a lot together I think I'll maximize my money by doing that and then if you recall this necklace it had a it had a Premier Designs um pended on it I took the pendant off I put this bar piece on the end of this one as you can see and then on the end of this one I have harvested from a a previous um you know encounter I had with um some some components and old pocket watches I have this little end uh piece that I'm going to put on the end and all of a sudden now magically I've got a very interesting looking uh functional pocket watch chain which no joke the other the Premier Designs I probably couldn't have got 15 or dollars out of that maybe $10 $12 but with this the ornate look and this on the end of it this I could get as much as $60 or $70 for that so sometimes it makes sense to do a little bit of work let's move over here now ideally I would not weigh this in the back because the bag is going to weigh fractions of a gram but just for the sake of doing this folks it's on grams let's just see this sterling silver stuff that we came out with where are we at all right we're nearly 37 gram of sterling silver and if I'm going to get at a baseline around 70 to 75% of the spot value then you know I'm going to get somewhere in the 25 2627 out of this if it was just scrap but these are all functional wearable pieces so I'll probably get between $15 and $20 per item in there and that's just the silver okay look she's done doesn't that look nice much better than a cheap old costume necklace you've got this awesome pocket watch quite long that's going to be great to get up in the store and then let's move over here now and do our final round of testing again these are not magnetic and this is what we're looking at so this one right here uh let me point to it with my pointer this one is marked as 14 karat gold this is marked as 10 karat gold this is marked as 14 and this one has a mark but it's so poorly done I can't tell what it says now it might say 925 in which case it would be sterling silver but it doesn't look like silver to me it looks like gold it ALS o could say 585 and 585 is the European Hallmark for 14 karat gold so is this 14 karat white gold is it sterling silver is it none of those I don't know but we have the marks set up and ready to go what I've done is I've taken these pieces of jewelry and scratched a little part of them in this spot and I've placed them where they go this one is on the end this one is next right here this necklace is for these marks and then these three are from this ring and we have our different substances here that we're going to test with starting with 10 karat gold we start with this and if the acid can eat it right away then it is not 10 karat gold it might be goldplated or something if it holds for a couple of seconds but it will eventually eat it and eat that away because the acid is at a certain strength that it's made to eat it that way now if I put 10K on this and it holds it and doesn't eat it then it has to be more than 10 karat that's why I put two marks I'll move to the next one and use 14 karat if 14 karat eats it then it is 10 karat gold if even 14 karat doesn't eat it well it's got to be at least 14 karat then I move up to the 18 and so on but because these are all marked I'm expecting the first one to be 14 karat the second one to be 10 the third one to be 14 karat and then this is the mystery so without further Ado let's do this after we're doing this and we figure out what we have here we will move on to the last test which is to test some of these stones and see if we can determine what they might be all right for your view and pleasure let's take a look here and see what we got I'm going to do a 10 on all of these and we'll take a look and see what's happening here okay there's there's a little bit on that little bit here I don't want it to have a bubble I want you to be able to see it get off of there bubble and here we are We're Off to the Races now folks so here's some good news good news so far is that you'll see that every one of these here has not been immediately eaten away and so what that means folks as we sit here and watch is that all of these including this one look to be at least 10 karat gold that is fantastic look at all this gold in this mixed bag you saw some of the cheapest types of costume jewelry that they make out there in this lot and yet by sorting it and actually taking the time we have discovered some very nice um pieces of jewelry okay so now we're going to go on to the 14 karat this is supposed to be 14 and so is that but this is supposed to be 10 so if these marks are accurate then the ones on either side here should hold and not eat that but it should start to eat the one in the middle because this middle one should be is not supposed to be 14 karat but let's move on now and let's look and see there's some there's some there's some and here we go okay now you're getting a lot of glare from the light so we're going to zoom in here so we can kind of take a look see and see what we're looking at let me try to reorient here uh and cover up some of the light maybe you'll see that the one on the side here is holding pretty strong however the one in the middle see how it's turned more of like an orangish like a coppery color well that's because it has eaten the gold content goodness can you please Focus it's eating the gold content there that's a better idea so you can see that on the side here it's holding on the other side it's holding here in the middle there's still some there but do you see how it's turned like that Sandy almost like that Rosy color well what you're seeing is it has eaten the gold but it has left the other alloy which is probably predominantly copper that's why it has kind of that coppery color you can see the first line of the 10K is still all holding and the ones on either side are pretty basic okay now let's move over here and take a look what's happened well we still have this holding real well goodness it does not want to zoom today it's holding however on this other one it has completely eaten it it's vanished which means that this ring is not 14 karat gold and it's not cing silver it's 10 karat gold very interesting I want to know what those stones are the final test I'd like to perform for you today is to uh use this presidium test to determine what these stones are now if I pull this up and you take a look you'll see that when I touch this little wand here with this little tip on the on these Stones this little hand is going to move up if it's a diamond or a moist KN it'll be all the way up here moist KN is not as common um if it's a ruby or a sapphire it'll be in this range and so forth so since I know the colors of these certain uh things I'm going to be for like with the green I want to know is it is it likely Emerald or not these clear stones are they diamonds are they glass are they just a clear um like an aqua like a really clear aquamarine or a turmaline or something so we're going to take a look at this okay so starting off here let's take this ring this beautiful ring let's start off and let's take a look here with one of the small ones the baguettes and see what kind of a reading we get here here we go okay that hand is moving oh but it's sort of stopping in the middle there sort of stopping it's not going up real high this is not real hard towards the end it could potentially be glass or could be something like you know maybe termine or something but my guess is it might be a lower quality thing let's test the top Stone now little bit higher let me try that again here we go you can see it's going up all the way to the top so if it's glass it's really really hard it's still going my guess this is going to be something like you know uh you like a it's not quite to quartz but something like maybe a clear um aquamarine or a clear turmaline something like that it Sparkles it's beautiful um okay let's move over to this necklace it's a set in 14 karat gold my guess is that this has got to be a genuine gemstone of some kind and not just um glass but let's take a look and see here what do we got okay it's going up sort of almost around the same area I'm doubting that this is glass but my guess is that this is going to be like a very clear type of um maybe like an aquamarine or a clear type of a A turmaline or something like that it's very high up okay but it's not a diamond all right but now we're going to we're going to go to this one this was the 10 karat gold one and I want to know so start with the green ones everyone wants to know what do we got here if it is an emerald it should be kind of above that in this range right here in this little the next to bottom black line that coming across so let's try this here let's go and see oh see it bumped way up there yes okay so we are in that Emerald range I mean like right there it stops right about the middle to the uh later part of where it says Emerald which is right in this region right right here so yes it is in fact an emerald my guess is it's a lab created one however but then we got these tiny little clear stones in between I want to know are these tiny diamonds or are they something else so this is difficult it gets difficult to test these because they're so tiny and if I get off it's going to beep at me in fact I'll give you an example of a beeper here we go oh it's saying no don't do that it's like I'm playing Operation you guys know operation uh okay so here we go but I want get out of the view here so you can see if it goes up to the diamond section was the farthest one up let's see if I can do this how many times I can do get beeped up before I can get it right let's see here boom look at that all the way to Diamond It beeped at me let's try it again without the beep if oh NOP get off me I'm going for the wishbone oh operation was a fun game 10 karat gold tennis bracelet with emeralds and diamonds and and this free thing of costume jewelry I cannot believe it will thank you uh here's a deal though sir I'm going to have to I'm going to show up with some cash money for you because uh I I don't feel right about just taking a bunch of gold jewelry and silver from you but this is awesome folks we got some really cool things in here but that is how I go about inspecting stuff let's weigh this gold real quick and just see what we looking in okay so 10 karat gold we got this ring and this bracelet let's try to lay it on there we are looking at 13.2 G uh 13.2 I'm writing it down and then for 14 karat dainty little thing and then this dainty little necklace 3.34 okay now we need to do our calculations so the way this works out is that 10 karat gold today is selling for $31.90 per gram 14 karat gold is selling for $44.79 cents per gram so if you take the gram weight of our 10 karat gold and you multiply it times this our 10 karat gold is worth $421 47 our 14 karat gold this times this gram weight comes to $1 14959 and then I believe we could get about $25 out of that silver for spot so if you add them all up folks $596 is the value of this and this little baggie of silver it doesn't include the beads I'm going to sell this necklace with a silver clasp this impromptu kind of recreated pocket watch chain and all of our costume jewelry so I'm looking at probably if we were right around $600 in the gold and the Silver S eight I mean this is going to be $800 to $900 this is probably three or four pounds of costume jewelry all this stuff just very exciting folks uh thanks so much will and I hope this helped you folks this is how I do it I sort stuff I get the costume stuff and I sell it in bulk or if they're highend brand names I'll sell them individually stuff that has individual value would be things made out of silver or gold or unique beads or unique items that I know there's already a market existing for it's such a nice piece isn't it folks gold emeralds diamonds I mean I don't wear jewelry except for my uh my you know commitment ring to Old flow but uh it's it's quite nice you know I'm excited to get this stuff in I hope that some of this stuff helped you thanks for stopping by good luck on your treasure hunting you probably have something of value there at your house and you didn't even know it maybe if you use some of these steps you'll be able to determine what you have and then the next step if you want to sell it well we got more of that info for you in lots of
