The essential needs for this home was that we created a home that had maximum privacy but also had to cater for the client's  interests which was both boating and motoring. I'm Trevor Reitsma from Reitsma Associates  my role in the project is Design Director. I'm Isaac Stott from Reitsma Associates,  I'm the Project Lead for Carwoola Residence. Carwoola Residence is located on the Sunshine Coast, 100 km from Brisbane. Mooloolaba is known for its beautiful white beaches and deep water access through its canal system. The intentions of the clients was to  create a comfortable home where they   could store multiple cars, entertain  and be comfortable in the living spaces. The veil to the street visually connects  the levels, it creates privacy to the   rooms beyond and also broadens the  facade with this angled shroud. Upon entry you're taken below a concrete portal,  this compresses the space and once you come   through this you're open to an open void, open to  the sky, you then arrive at the front door which   is an oversized pivot door, when the pivot door is  open it blurs where the inside and outside starts. Once you come through the front pivot door you're  then greeted with another full height void to the sky through the frameless glass which wraps  down to a frameless window in front of it. Through this window you look over  the pool which merges with the canal,   bringing a body of water right to the front door. The privacy of walls running North and  South buffer to the neighbours but then   open up to the aperture of the viewing  corridor across the Mooloolaba wharf. The outdoor living area cascades down  towards the water creating a beach element,   this creates more viewing opportunity from within the home where the outdoor living area's cut back, inviting the water visually onto the property. We worked closely with the clients early on in the project to determine the electrical design. The client had specific requirements based on their lifestyle for how the electrical components worked in their home. Simplistic control of the lighting  and also the lighting intensity   through dimmers has allowed us to  enhance the liveability of the home. The Clipsal Saturn Zen features the perfect circle switching mechanism. This linked perfectly with our moon circle concept on the home, and was a natural selection for the home electrical design. The void connects both the living and the master,  from the living it creates a sense of volume,   exaggerates the height of the fireplace and  creates a sky grab to the clouds passing by.   The kitchen design drew inspiration  from not looking like a kitchen,   the island bench is oversized and  is designed to look like a table. A lot of time was spent on The Snug room. This is one of the more relaxing and comfortable spaces in the home. An elevated floor and a dropped ceiling creates a compression which translates into a cosy environment. Darkened walls and the veil screen contribute to this coziness creating a haven-like feel. If we head up the stairs, you're  confronted with a curving hallway,   there's a sense of mystique and it's dark and moody. Immediately to the left hand side is a concealed entry point into a walk-in robe. The walk-in robe then opens further up into the ensuite and the ensuite has some exaggerated proportions with an incredibly long basin. Off to the left hand side of the basin, one is aware of the open shower. At the end of the open shower is a bath that  opens out through to the Mooloolah River. The master suite is incredible in the sense that it really opens through to a void below It's selfish but it's exotic. The upper level also has three guest  suites, each of which are ensuited.   Each ensuite mimics the main ensuite, same  materials, same exaggerated proportions. Unique to the Saturn Zen range is that it  can be mounted horizontally and vertically. The Saturn Zen range has a pure  simplicity to it, the rectangle,   the circle and it all comes together  in a high quality surfacing. The matte black finishing was inspired by the dark  tones of the house, it blended seamlessly,   it didn't rob any attention from the other  aspects and supported the design intent. In a darker environment the Saturn  Zen range has a LED illumination,   this can also be integrated with icons which illuminate for simplicity of use. The Clipsal LED indicator ensures no lights are left on. When leaving the master bedroom, one accesses  across a mesh bridge, through a door and they find themselves on a viewing platform. The viewing platform has what we call a Moon Circle. The Moon Circle captures the moon rising which can   be viewed from the kitchen and  also from laying down in bed. Heading down to the basement we have our roundabout style entry with a lift acting as a core structure of the home. Off the roundabout, we have parking fanning off on a circular axis. beyond the parking we have a man's  cave, a study and also a car showroom. The car showroom connects to the pool through a circular port hole which creates a viewing opportunity out to Mooloolaba Wharf and also drops light into the deep portion of the basement. The materials were selected for their honesty, longevity and the rawness that they bring to the overall palette. The client had strong ideas  about using off form concrete. They also wanted to introduce a dark timber element which kind of creates a haven-like effect to the home. In addition to this there are some beautiful mosaic tiles, which are used throughout on the wet areas. When I look around the project I'm most proud that  we're able to bring the client's vision to life,   that we're able to bring their thoughts,  their ideas, the materials all together   in a seamless layout that also  had a beautiful visual appeal.
