people have always been fascinated with the idea of royalty and even here across the pond we know all about the British royal family but while we love Prince George Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis there are many other young princes and princesses out there today we're gonna be talking about royal children from around the world and learning how their culture and family impacts their lives even the youngest members of these royal families have lived the rest of us can only dream of you'll learn what Disney gets wrong about being a princess and we aren't just talking about the singing animals well many countries have royal families the rules of succession greatly vary before Prince heesu hito was born into the Imperial House of Japan it looked as though things might have to drastically change it had been four decades since a male heir had been introduced into the family and Japan was faced with the prospect of altering Imperial house law this proposed change would allow female heirs to inherit the throne in this case it looked as though princess I echo the only child of Crown Prince Naruhito might actually end up inheriting the throne due to a lack of a male heir but then Prince Kia hito was born in September 2006 as the youngest and only son out of prince and princess Akishino upon his birth prince heesu hito was third in line for the throne needless to say right from the get-go there has been a ton of pressure placed on this prince although his arrival meant that tradition will most likely still dictate royal succession his upbringing has been somewhat unusual compared to other members of japan's royal family as you can probably imagine prince ki sahith Oh has a ton of pressure placed on him and the people of Japan are very interested in what he's doing for tiresome only time will tell whether the Imperial Household law will change and how large of a role Prince heesu hito will play in the process although the Grimaldi family has been in Monaco for over seven hundred years all eyes were on them in 1956 iconic American actress Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier the third making her a real-life princess and for her being a princess went far beyond the regal title Princess Grace brought her love of the arts and music to the people of Monaco and this is a legacy which has been passed down to her children and her grandchildren with the passing of grace and her husband the throne was claimed by their son Prince Albert the second the lives of royal families all over the world may differ from one another but there is one thing they have in common people desperately want to know everything about their lives Prince Albert the second seemed to be a perpetual bachelor prior to his marriage to Charlene Wittstock in 2011 there were even rumours that this may be due to the fact that he wasn't interested in women romantically and Albert admits to being irritated by these rumours but it turns out Prince Albert ii and his wife Princess Charlene do have two children together who are considered to be members of the royal family they are twins princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques when a member of the royal family is born in Monaco its traditional to celebrate with 21 cannon shots but since there were two royal children entering the world the palace decreed that amount be doubled and Gabriela and Jacques were welcomed by 42 cannon shots and that's in addition to the ringing church bells and boat horns which typically Herald a royal birth it's safe to say these two kids received a very loud welcome to the world the twins are still very young but they're still expected to show up and smile for Royal occasions and of course they're always dressed in adorable coordinating outfits we know that we said being an actual child in a royal family isn't like being a Disney Princess but the King of Bhutan does have a rather fantastic title that sounds almost fictional in Bhutan the head of the state is known as the Dragon King and today we're gonna be telling you about the dragon Prince jig me he's the heir of King Jigme and it's expected that he will grow up and eventually inherit the throne ever since 2008 Bhutan has been a constitutional monarchy so although the country is located in South Asia its royal family is similar to the British royal family in many ways the Dragon King serves as the head of state but the government is under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister the role of the King of Bhutan is largely symbolic and Prince Jigme will be expected to grow up and represent his country well locally and abroad little Prince Duke me will have big shoes to fill as his father the current Dragon King is beloved in Bhutan and helped usher in the country's current state of democracy King Jigme takes his royal engagement seriously and is known to travel all over in an effort to encourage people to vote and to spread goodwill and of course he takes his absolutely adorable son with him despite being so young Prince Jigme is expected to have impeccable manners and represent Bhutan well especially when traveling abroad even before he was born people couldn't wait to catch a glimpse of Prince chigney in anticipation of his arrival thousands of people volunteered to plant trees in his honor by the time the future King of Bhutan arrived he had 108 thousand trees in his name it's understandable that people can't get enough of cute prince Bhutan and luckily the palace is well aware of this each month they release a free downloadable calendar for people to use on their computers smart phones or other electronic devices and prints chigney is expected to smile for the camera because he is frequently featured in these calendar photos in terms of princely duties this is one even the youngest of children can complete with ease when the prince was born people couldn't wait to catch a glimpse of him but thankfully they didn't have to wait long although the people of Bhutan were treated to photos of the little prince a few days after his birth it took much longer for them to find out his name in fact for his first few months on earth he was simply known as the prince but on April 16 was no idle threat and would have pretty much decimated Norway's royal line since Harald was the sole heir so then Prince Harold and then commoner Sonya were married and had two children of their own princess märtha louise and Crown Prince hakuna people love pointing out that Meghan Markel was a divorced actress before she met Prince Harry but their story has nothing on the tale of Prince hakuna he met the love of his life at a rock and roll festival and she was a single mother who had dropped out of college and was making ends meet by waiting tables you might think that the King would have frowned upon this but he was thrilled to welcome met Amara to the family after they married they had two children named princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Vera Magnus met Marv eats first son who she had before meeting Prince Haakon is now an adult and is not technically a part of the royal family still Marius has many fans who were disappointed when he decided to opt out of taking on royal duties instead he moved to Los Angeles and his family asks people to respect his privacy as he lives his non royal life to the fullest this is a royal family who doesn't take themselves too seriously and we love that about them Prince huh kun loves to pull pranks on his parents including a highly publicized one which occurred on a joint 80th birthday celebration like many royal festivities this one was formal and involved many prestigious people but something odd happened halfway through the evening Prince Haakon ducked out shaved his beard and went back to the party as if nothing had happened perhaps their fathers playful spirit is why Ingrid and Slayer often appear less poised than other royal children from other countries since he's too young to grow a beard Prince fair had to settle for dabbing during his grandparents birthday celebration yes apparently Norwegian children and even royalty can't get enough of dabbing you might think this would be a major faux pas but his family barely seemed to bat an eye apparently they know there's just no way to get kids to stop hopping on the latest dance trend but while Prince bear might like showing off princess Ingrid is a bit more restrained not only is she the elder sibling but she's also second in line of succession after her father Prince Hakuna should she end up succeeding her father this would make her the second female monarch in Norway's history the previous female monarch Queen Margaret reigned during the 15th century the royal family of Norway has always been popular and it's not hard to see why this is a fun-loving family who seemed downright relatable when princess Ingrid was born in 2004 she caused her family's already high popularity to skyrocket unlike the British royal children who attend school with a massive security escort princess Ingrid was frequently seen walking to school with her older half-brother it wasn't unusual for the average citizen of Norway to see Ingrid enjoying time with her classmates out in public but that doesn't mean princess Ingrid is free of a royal expectations she eventually transferred to a private school which is taught in English the members of the royal family are meant to represent their country so it's important that the children learn to speak multiple languages Japan's imperial family may not yet accept female heirs in positions of power but many other countries have been updating their rules in this regard in 1990 the constitution of Norway was changed in order to allow the crown to pass to the eldest child regardless of gender this rule is what put Princess Alexandra in line for the throne ahead of her younger brother a similar change occurred in Britain which allowed Princess Charlotte to retain her place in the line of succession despite the birth of Prince Louis but interestingly enough there's some more crossover between the British royal family and the Norwegian royal family the Norwegian royal family are descendants of the British throne King Edward the seventh had a daughter named Maud who married King hakuna 7th of Norway because of this members of the Norwegian royal family are technically in line for the British throne as well but they're so far down the list that the odds of them ever becoming king or queen is minuscule in Norway princess Ingrid is in line for the throne before her brother Prince fair however the British rules about succession did change until after Ingrid was born so while Ingrid is 65th in line for the British throne spare is 64th in life of course realistically we know that neither of them are actual contenders for the British throne in a practical sense but it's still fun to think about having a surfing dabbing member of the British royal family would definitely help to shape things up speaking of succession the royal family of Sweden has been ahead of the curve in that department they changed the rule of succession which favored male heirs all the way back in 1980 when king carl xvi ascended to the throne he claimed he did not at all feel embraced by the people of Sweden he was known for making bold and brash statements to the public and wasn't shy about flaunting his considerable wealth it seemed like he was always dating someone new and zooming around in expensive vehicles however things changed when he met his wife who was a former flight attendant and an interpreter King Caro claims the two of them just clicked and his relationship with Queen Silvia helped endear him to the people of Sweden in fact Silvio was the very first Queen in all of Sweden's history who had a professional career before joining the royal family Queen Silvia definitely helped his public image but King Karl stepped up in a major way as well numerous Swedes lost their lives during the tsunami which hit Thailand in 2004 and the King knew he had to say something he related the loss of his citizens to the pain he felt upon the death of his own father and expressed that he felt anguish over being unable to help his own people in his regard he still isn't universally loved or scandal-free for that matter but his public image has at least improved since he first took the throne but now let's take a look at his oldest child and heir to the throne Crown Princess Victoria it's expected she'll take the throne after her father who was the longest reigning monarch in Swedish history while her parents are rather controversial Princess Victoria has always been the picture of a proper royal she made her very first public speech at the age of 18 and since then has been lauded for her philanthropic efforts and dignity with which she carries herself regardless of which country they're from it's no secret that most royal family members like to pretend everything is perfect in their lives but Princess Victoria has always been open about her issues and was honest when she had to put her college career on hold in order to undergo treatment for anorexia she attended Yale University and such he greatly enjoyed being relatively unknown during that time in addition to her eating disorder Victoria also suffers from dyslexia and anxiety eventually Princess Victoria married her personal trainer who was understandably uncomfortable at first with the public scrutiny she and Prince Daniel went on to have two children Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar princess Estelle is currently second in line for the throne after her mother the world undoubtedly has a fascination with royal children and a video of Estelle doing somersaults skyrocketed her family's popularity when asked about Estelle's temperament Princess Victoria claimed her daughter is curious social and brave these are traits that will definitely help her in her royal duties when she's old enough while princess Estelle gets to partake in normal childhood activities they're carefully selected in order to prepare her for life as a member of the royal family she has started taking acting classes which isn't uncommon for children but the logic behind enrolling in this activity is unusual Princess Victoria hopes these classes will teach Estelle to articulate her words properly which will help with her public speeches she'll learn to control her breath project her voice and speak to audiences in an engaging fashion like other royal children Estelle and Oscar also spent a lot of time smiling for the cameras on national day the two dressed in traditional outfits and smiled for the camera along with the rest of their family but the day didn't end with the click of a camera the kids were expected to go on a carriage ride through Stockholm greeting their adoring fans with waves and smiles although she's getting ready for the future with acting classes this doesn't mean Estelle is quite there yet when Princess Victoria announced her pregnancy people were naturally wondering if she would be having a little prince or princess but according to Victoria as l wasn't hoping for a little brother or sister and instead was hoping her mother would give her a pet hamster she also loves to be outside and is a huge fan of skiing her father Prince Daniel admits that Estelle performs far better than he does when the family hits the slopes Prince Daniel doesn't come from royalty and he brings a unique perspective to raising royal children he wants them to understand what life is like for the average citizen so he takes them to all sorts of different places Estelle and Oscar will need to know how to travel by bus and stand in line just like the rest of us many of the royal kids we've discussed so far have been quite young but Princess Elizabeth the Duchess of Brabant is a bit older she's another member of a royal family who was benefited from a new succession rule and hers could have historical significance it's expected that Princess Elizabeth will eventually ascend the throne which would make her the first Queen Regent in Belgium's history but this doesn't mean Elizabeth just gets to sit around and wait for the throne to be hers quite the opposite since this princess has tonnes she wants to accomplish before she sinks even more deeply into her royal duties her grandfather King Albert ii abdicated the throne of belgium when he was 79 years old due to health reasons the throne was then passed on to his eldest son Philippe of Belgium who now holds the title of King Philippe married Queen Mathilde who has quite the impressive lineage of her own she's the daughter of Belgian nobility and a descendant of Polish nobility as well the couple have four children Princess Elizabeth Prince Gabriel Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eleanor although she's not Queen yet this doesn't mean Princess Elizabeth hasn't been honoured in many ways in anticipation of her upcoming 18th birthday the Belgian postal service has announced a new set of stamps and that one design will feature Princess Elizabeth another tribute to this future Queen is the Belgian Antarctic station it's called Princess Elizabeth Antarctica and a scale model was presented to her at the Royal Palace Princess Elizabeth has been accompanying her parents on royal engagements since she was a small child but this one place she has a - yet speaking of traveling Elizabeth is no stranger to going abroad representing Belgium well to the outside world is no small part of her many royal duties at age 16 Princess Elizabeth said goodbye to her family and the palace in order to pursue her education at the United World College of the Atlantic which is located in Wales although it's an important step for this future Queen that doesn't mean the current Queen didn't take it hard Queen Mathilde admits she struggled with the idea of her eldest child traveling by herself an attending boarding school abroad according to the Queen Elizabeth is adapting very well and enjoying her schooling but it's been considerably harder on her parents who've been left behind like many other young royals Princess Elizabeth is expected to learn multiple languages and she's already taken two French English and is working on her German when she isn't hitting the books she enjoys drawing reading and practicing ballet when Elizabeth and her siblings were growing up their parents took great pains to give them a relatively normal upbringing while other wealthy parents may have a veritable army of nannies King Philippe and Queen Mathilde decided against it they chose not to employ a full-time nanny and only hired someone to care for their children when they wouldn't be home King Philippe dropped his children off for school in the morning before heading to work at the Royal Palace the king and queen also took delight in taking their children to Philippe has a legitimate son during his reign as king that child would take precedence over princess Lenore's claim to the throne because of this situation there have been talks of doing away with the preference for me Aires and merely selecting the air in order of birth regardless of gender should princess Leonor make it to the throne she will be the first Queen Regent in Spain since Isabella the second took the throne in 1833 if you're a fan of the Duchess of Cambridge you'll love Queen Letizia who's known as the Kate Middleton of Spain she's a glamorous woman who has become a style icon and has amassed many fans the Queen also doesn't come from royalty and in fact she started out as a serious career woman she studied journalism at the Complutense University of Madrid and achieved a master's in journalism at the Institute for studies in audio-visual journalism Leticia was a hard-hitting journalist who covered big stories like the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the situation in Iraq in 2003 she met her now husband at a dinner party and for the most part the two kept their relationship a secret when they announced their engagement the people of Spain were shocked because they hadn't realised Felipe was dating anyone why Leticia doesn't come from nobility she was accepted by Felipe's family right away particularly his mother Sophia while she acknowledges that her time as Queen was important she doesn't think anything is more important than being a mother or a grandmother she's admitted that she has a particularly soft spot in her heart for her son and that raising him has been one of her greatest joys in life but not everyone was happy about the marriage Leticia had been married briefly before and the fact that she was divorced drew criticism from many citizens but Leticia didn't let that get her down and she became the first queen of Spain to be born as a commoner she stepped up to her royal duties in a huge way and has since travelled all over the world traveling is a huge part of life in the Spanish royal family and that includes princess Leonor and princess Sofia the two princesses have even spent an entire month attending a summer camp located in the United States although they were missed the king and queen were thrilled by the new knowledge and experiences their daughters gained while away from home lots of women say they're out looking for their prince charming but Maxima did not recognize her prince even he was standing right in front of her she was attending the Seville spring Fair in Seville Spain when she met a man who introduced maxima was born in Argentina before taking a job at a bank in New York and travelling to Spain where she met willem-alexander long distance is hard for any couple so Maxima took a job in Brussels and gradually learned to speak fluent Dutch many people were outraged when they learned about Maximas father who had been a minister during the dirty wartime period in Argentina an inquest began and it was determined that her father did not know anything about the dirty war and so Maximas reputation in the public eye recovered still her new royal family requested that her father not attend her wedding and Maximus sadly agreed to this concession but eventually willem-alexander and Maxima became king and queen of the Netherlands and the public fell in love with their new queen the couple have three daughters princess catharina-amalia princess Alexia and princess Ariana of the three princesses catharina-amalia is the eldest and therefore the heir apparent despite being royalty she will have as normal a life as possible until she comes of age and enters the State Council it seems like ever since she started dating Prince Harry people just can't stop talking about Megyn Markel and now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced that they'll be welcoming a new baby to the family in spring of 2019 currently queen elizabeth ii holds her place as the longest reigning monarch in the entire world and she's accompanied by her husband Prince Philip the couple has four children Prince Charles princess and Prince Andrew and Prince Edward when Princess Anne was born the rule of succession still favored male heirs so her place in line was taken by her brothers Andrew and Edward who were born after her however Queen Elizabeth eventually did away with this rule and the first member of the royal family to benefit from this will be her granddaughter Princess Charlotte the titles in this royal family can be a bit confusing for example why is Prince Philip a prince instead of the king after all he's married to the Queen it has to do with the fact that the Queen is the one with the royal bloodline in this scenario when her father King George the six married her mother she was given the female form of his title becoming Queen Elizabeth when queen elizabeth ii married philip she was still a princess and philip didn't even get the title of prince until she ascended to the throne it may seem a bit strange but at this day these titles are more ceremonial than anything else Prince Charles was married to Princess Diana and the couple had two sons Prince William and Prince Harry Princess Diana was much beloved by people all over the world and was renowned for her charity work however her marriage to Prince Charles was never a happy one the couple stayed together because they feared it would be improper to divorce but things got so bad between the two of them that even Queen Elizabeth said it would be best if they went their separate ways tragically Diana perished in a car accident leaving Prince William and Prince Harry to grow up without her both of the princes have expressed how difficult it was to lose their mother so young in the public eye Prince William has a reputation for being the more traditional brother and he's in line for the throne right behind his father Prince Charles Prince Harry was known as the troublemaking fun-loving brother but now he too is married and soon to be a father but what title was the latest child in the royal family half upon marrying Prince Harry Queen Elizabeth bestowed the title of Duchess of Sussex upon Megan Markel however it might surprise you to know that her child will most likely not be a prince or a princess according to royal decree only the eldest son of the oldest son gets that title automatically that means that when Prince George was born to Prince William and Kate Middleton he automatically received the tide of prints however his grandmother Queen Elizabeth bestowed the titles of princess and Prince to his siblings Charlotte and Louie respectively she declared that all children born to her son William would have such a royal title but no such rule exists where Prince Harry is concerned because the child's parents will be the duke and duchess of sussex the child will be born with the title Earl or lady depending on whether they're a boy or a girl of course what the Queen says goes so it's entirely possible that she'll end up welcoming a new prince or princess into the family instead we'll just have to wait and see for now let's take a look at what life is like for the children of Prince William and Kate Middleton first there is Prince George who was in line behind his father for the throne and then we have his younger sister Princess Charlotte and his baby brother Prince Louie Prince George has been exceptionally popular with the public since his birth and by all accounts he takes after his uncle Harry he's very playful and we've even seen a couple of pics of Kate trying to discipline him in public the children of Kate and William are also fashion icons despite their young ages whenever they show up wearing a piece of clothing you can bet that it will sell out within mere moments considering how huge of a fashion icon Meghan marvel has become in her short time at the royal family we have a feeling her child will soon be the most well dressed in all of the royal family recently there have been rumors of unrest between Prince Harry and Meghan Markel and Prince William and Kate Middleton it's hard to know how much of this is based in reality and how much of it is invented for drama according to sources Prince Harry feels as though his brother and sister-in-law haven't done enough to welcome Megan to the family while William is resentful of all the attention being heaped on his brother hopefully this is nothing more than conjecture and all of the adorable children of the royal family can grow up being close to their cousins which one of these royal
