(bright music) - Hey, it's Juliana from Stacked. So today we're along Amber
Road to tour a four bedroom bachelor pad here at The Sea View. Prior to moving to Singapore, the homeowner actually stayed
in a New Jersey townhouse in the US, featuring
beautiful rustic elements on the outside while
opting to fill its interior with mid-century furniture. So many of the pieces are still present in his new home today with his personal experience
in interior design serving as a crucial backbone
for the hybrid Japandi themes that we'll be seeing later. But okay, enough of that, let us head up and begin this tour. (soft music) All right, so just a quick
background about this home. This four bedroom unit is
1,647 square feet in size and it currently features
four bedrooms and three baths. The homeowner moved in early last year and have spent about
125,000 in renovations to transform this space into
what you see here today. But as usual, let us
start off at the entryway. Stepping in, you'll be greeted
by this drop wood panelling giving the entrance a sense
of intimacy and warmth. We do have this small niche
that has been carved out between the two storage
cabinets for easy item access, and this space opens up
seamlessly into the living room. It is also here that you
start to see elements of those mid-century furniture pieces that the homeowner has brought
in from his previous house. He has opted mainly for a neutral
and earthy colour palette, helping to create a homely lounging space together with those soft lights. And the spaciousness of this living room did allow the homeowner to use a mishmash of larger furniture pieces
while still having ample space to move around. So stepping out, the
balcony has been fitted with an array of plants on both sides, creating a little oasis, with this classy, yet inviting outdoor lounge set. And the views from here
are also breathtaking. It is set amid lush greenery and you do see little pops
off the streets as well. So personally, I can
just imagine this balcony to be converted into an
incredibly cosy space in the evenings, coupled
with these fairy lights. Coming back into the living room areas, your eyes are immediately drawn to this extended light wood panelling. And to most people, this would serve as the base of a Japandi theme. Yet surprisingly, this was actually never
the homeowner's intention. So according to him, these wood inclusions only came in to match
the white flooring tones unintentionally giving the
home its oriental touch. And in that vein, the
homeowner has also decided to augment the space with
these complimentary elements creating this unique mid-century and Japandi mix that we see here today. Behind the living room is the dining and it has been nicely demarcated with this low wood console,
which the homeowner uses to display his record player and plants. The dining area is designed
in a singular wood palette to help reduce visual clutter, and there is also an inconspicuous
designer pendant lamp above that helps to softly
illuminate the space. It is also here that guests are treated to this panoramic view
of the greenery outside courtesy of the end-to-end windows. So right across from the dining and behind this wooden sliding door is a U-shaped kitchen
that is nicely concealed. So when fully open, it
does act as an extension of the main living spaces. There is terrazzo flooring and
darker woody tones over here. And because the owner was
unable to fit in an island, he has opted for more wooden
panels around the side to act as a transition to
the main cooking space. On one end you do have a coffee nook that is nicely concealed and
on the other side is a bar that also doubles up
as a display shelving, with some exquisite pottery
from the homeowner's mentors. So unlike the other cooking
areas that I've seen, this area was designed
to appeal to the senses, with the inclusion of a
corner lamp and a speaker. We do also have a large window over here that does let in a lot of natural light, and when the blinds are closed it helps to create a cosier atmosphere. And finally, just around the corner, you'll be able to find the utility yacht, along with ample space for
a washer and dryer setup. (bright music) So before moving on, I
just wanted to point out how all the doors to the
bedrooms are nicely concealed behind this wood panelling, creating this long and seamless corridor. So our first bedroom has
been converted into a study and the homeowner has actually mentioned that this is his favourite
room as it features many of the mid-century
pieces that he brought over from his previous home in the US. Apart from a study corner that
is overlooking the greenery, the homeowner often spends time over here just playing the cello
or simply just relaxing in quiet contemplation. And right across from the
study is the common bath. It is made spacious by the tall ceilings and the dedicated shower area and it's finished in a
pleasant cream aesthetic. One more thing is that the homeowner has decided to swap out the
sink for a designer Italian one, adding a touch of class to the space. And right next to the common bath, you have the second bedroom. So this currently acts as a guest bedroom and there is a comfy queen size bed set up with a bedside table on one end. This room has been kept, mostly simple to accommodate for changes over time. And right at the end,
that's where you'll find the junior master that currently acts as a guest room as well. So right by the entrance
is the en suite bathroom. It's very much like the
one that we saw earlier. And moving on to the main rest areas, this is where the homeowner has
opted to keep things simple, focusing on comfort instead. So there are mismatched lamps, complimenting a restful atmosphere. The final door here leads
you into the master bedroom. And again, we've got the
entrance to the bathroom that is right by the entry. So inside, you'll be
able to find a spacious and opulent bath complete with a bathtub and a beautiful view. We've got full length glass mirrors here that help to visually expand the space, and a lotus sink serving
as a sleek addition. Moving on to the main rest areas, at the far end, we have large windows which help to flood this area
with lots of natural light. And decked out over here we have a settee, a king size bed, as well as
loose bedside furnishings on both ends. The homeowner has also mentioned that he loves watching movies, which is why you'll be able to
find a projector to one side. Finally, carved out in a little
corner is a walk-in wardrobe and depending on the situation,
it can also be fully open to act as an extension of the space. - Have you ever wondered
