Insane Christmas Productions at Church-What Is This?

[Music] so i'm going to show you a bunch of different clips of what some churches are doing for christmas productions either video or on stage or both and i just want to ask the question what is this why are we doing this is this a really good idea or is it maybe not such a good idea i'm not going to do a lot of commentary i'm just going to play the videos and it's just something for you to think about are you ready simon okay are you ready theodore okay you ready alvin alvin this is the greatest show [Music] christmas christmas it's me can you believe i get to be in the christmas spectacular [Music] wow what a dream how good is it so far [Music] angels [Music] [Music] jingle bells jingle all the way [Music] know what fun it is is [Music] [Music] oh [Music] me [Music] is [Music] is [Music] [Music] one thing i can say for sure people really like it when you hang stuff from the ceiling and make them zip all over the place me lots of drummers very good lots of drummers hanging from the ceiling very very good [Music] no you cannot hang camels from the ceiling [Music] [Applause] [Music] i didn't know that christmas was really about pixar anyway [Music] yes these were great and wise earthly kings true it's taking over you [Music] [Applause] [Music] this is the greatest show [Music] is [Music] oh what fun it is this is my favorite part of the whole video by far it's utterly meaningless but i just like watching it is come on cleveland put your hands up with [Music] me [Music] what oh grinch how good is it so far [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] oh [Applause] [Music] how could this be [Music] from what i can gather from this video this is a church where everything happens in slow motion [Music] that king herod's a little bit scary but don't worry kids i found a script backstage and let's just say he doesn't become one of life's winners uh speaking of winners look at me i'm a soldier jingle all the way [Music] [Applause] tumbling elves this is almost as good as [Music] [Music] [Applause] we did it we did it it's snowing what lovely weather for a sleigh ride [Music] together [Music] [Applause] let me conclude this little video by saying that i don't pretend to know the motives of all the volunteers who worked obviously very hard on all these productions and i'm sure that most of these church productions eventually got around to saying something about the true message of christmas i know that but the way that message has been covered up by so many layers of other stuff seems counterproductive it seems like there's a subliminal message that says we don't think the story of god humbling himself to be born as a man in order to atone for our sins is good enough i'm sure that nobody would come right out and say that but the form we use to convey a message can say just as much as the message itself it also seems like an insult to the viewers attention span and intelligence to spend so much effort on entertaining people as if they aren't capable of thinking deeply about anything those are just my thoughts hope i don't offend you too much and i really appreciate you watching this [Music] oh
