India Amarteifio on Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story & Her Family Watching Her Steamy Scenes

our next guest is the other British monarch making history this week from a place called chandeland she plays the title character in Queen Charlotte a Bridgerton story it's available on Netflix starting May 4th please welcome Indiana TVO [Music] I sometimes get confused that's right when you're from Europe you guys do the two kisses things yes although I don't usually you don't usually yeah I thought I'd bring Britain to you thank you for bringing Britain to me and thank you for being here thank you for having me I hope I pronounced your name correctly did I get it perfect I'm a TFO perfect great okay good I practiced a lot I have to as well because it's spelled it's difficult to spell too right yeah yeah yeah I have a a song um that my sister um wrote for me when I had to learn how to say it when I was little it goes um a.m a r t e i f i o oh that's nice find it I would imagine people mangle it regularly what is the worst pronunciation you've heard of your name I've had armadillo oh that's not good I've had I'm a fish the list goes on any any name that begins with an a is is also my surname apparently you uh you started when you're acting when you're 21 now you started acting when you were a how old yeah and how did you get involved in that um I used to dance um and I injured myself and then I realized I probably shouldn't be doing this all the time um but I loved the kind of Storytelling aspect of dance um and then I I watched call me by your name when I was like 15 and when I need to make someone feel like how I felt watching that um and then um yeah here I am wow that's something else boy it's funny because that seems like such a new movie to have that be the movie that you saw as a kid I know I know and that inspired you to become an actor I was born 2001. and then you were in what plays and uh yeah what yeah yeah um so I I started on the West End I did um The Lion King I was young Nala um and then I went on to do Matilda when I was about 12 I think and then um Charlie in the Chocolate Factory so wow okay and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory oh he did all like the big ones there I tried yeah and then and then coming from London London have you been to La before I assume you've been here I've been twice this year but this was my first time coming leaving Europe this year at all um so to do a big is an understatement this is like you wouldn't get bigger than L.A what do you make of it here everything is huge oh really everything is huge I think the one thing that really surprised me when I came out of the airport was just like the tilings on the floor are like slabs I can't like I can't I can't fathom it in England everything's so tiny and narrow do you think that's because things are older in England and at that time it made more sense to than maybe the ground was in his level [Laughter] you um well you said everything seemed so big yes um there's I don't I'm sure you must have seen this this is um I actually see this every day there you are not only this is how omnipresent Netflix is not only is it do you have that billboard if you kind of zoom in you got that one there too look at that and then there's another one and this is some Prime real estate here above the liquor Locker wine merchant yeah right above the liquor Locker that's like the best that's like winning an Academy Award really I've made it I've made it I would also recommend any of my family members need to go to a Liquor Locker before watching this why do you say that just some of the scenes are a little bit the racy scenes bit racy yeah a bit um uh not for the eyes your mom is actually here I know tonight um oh there's your mom right there has she seen has she seen the um these the show has she seen you in it yeah we watched it together um bonding experience like no other I think you would agree right yeah who was more uncomfortable um it wasn't I think I knew what to expect because I'd actually been reading some lines with her oh prior to like when she was auditioning so I'd been sort of reading lion said but you weren't reading in my lines when no no steamy lines just just to confirm yeah so I sort of knew wouldn't expect and I think it's it's fabulous so you know I switched off from okay this is my daughter maybe doing see me scenes so yeah it's fabulous though it's yes it's not India it's the queen it's Queen Charlotte did you feel the same way yeah I mean it is bizarre I don't you know I'm sure I know I've just met half of your family by the way who will love it yeah I don't know if you guys know like all of Jimmy's Family Live Like work here they're great um but it's really nice to like have people that you know watch something and feel proud and have seen you know the journey um but yeah I just felt like I had to jump in at the deep end and just show her all the scenic scenes get it out the way and then we can just you know move past it and I can well you do that with each one of your relatives or just mine no definitely not my grandparents your grandparents how are they going to react to this so my my first initial thought was I will make a spreadsheet for family members who want to watch the show which I hope they will want to watch the show and then pinpoint each point where they need to stop that's a really good idea and then continue because they can't miss full episodes yeah maybe a family edit you can make for them that's perfect you've got the director's cut family cup very good yeah that would be nice and these characters are while the the plots that we're going to be seeing these are real people from history yeah yeah completely um so Queen Charlotte was the Queen of England um and uh King George was the King of England yeah right um so yeah the historical figures but you know Queen Charlotte isn't a documentary it's um taking two figures from history and um Sean defying them and making them into the Bridgeton sphere as um Betsy Bears likes to call it so um yeah it feels feels good to kind of bring her to the Forefront well congratulations are you ready for this like I mean it's one thing to have these Billboards but it's going to be another thing now that these shows these especially the Bridgerton are hugely popular you're going to be recognized everywhere you go it's going to be [Applause] you'll be all right I think so I thought I've got amazing support and the fandom for Bridgeton and I don't know if any of you are here um are just phenomenal enjoy your last week of peace is what I'm saying thank you thank you very much Queen Charlotte a Bridgeton
