Incredible Swamp Rescue Turns Into One of My Biggest Purchases Ever

keep pulling pull hard pull hard [Music] ladies and gentlemen you are in for a treat today's video is gonna be a good one in fact today's video could turn into multiple videos and the reason why it's gonna be awesome is because it involves heavy equipment it involves insanely beautiful scenery it involves my guys you know they're awesome and it involves recovery and it involves water and it just has like all of the elements of awesome stuff plus the elements of I might buy all sorts of stuff but we're going to start this video by recovering that Hitachi Excavator which is buried in this pond it's not really stuck but it's dead Motors dead has no ability to get out and the owner of this property has been trying for months to get it out with no luck nobody's been able to move it mostly because all the companies around here are busy after we get that out there are three more machines on the other side of the river over there and we basically struck a deal where the owner of the machines will either pay us to get them out or if we get them out they'll let us pick and choose and keep a couple of them so kind of uh kind of like a hey if you can get it you can keep it type deal and I'm probably gonna buy it all and I'm talking like hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stuff but like even this stuff just everywhere everything's gotta go and we're gonna start by recovering some of it and see where it goes from there so buckle up because I'm really excited about this one you guys should be too and we're about to get an awesome thunderstorm which could make things even that much more interesting here we go [Music] oh as you guys can see we've got a Hitachi 270 Long Reach excavator stuck in a pond from what I understand the motor has got a knock won't start um and it's kind of just stuck there and even though it's all dry right here it's a big heavy awkward machine to just be stuck right there so we are going to pull it out and it looks relatively simple but it's a lot of dead weight so there's a chance we got to pull the planetaries to be able to get it Roll free freely maybe we'll be able to roll it up just with the tracks locked using the pulling power of the excavator on the head but first thing we got to do is figure out how to get the boom basically situated we want to get it turned so that we're not pulling it out sideways get it locked up and then start pulling so we're going to be doing a whole bunch of wiggling and bopping and twisting and pulling right now my favorite you know what we could possibly do is just leave it and then maybe break now we don't want to break the line right there but it might rotate well he doesn't have the pumps on there right now so he's thinking that it might if we just pull it it might just follow behind it um that's I don't I don't think it's going to that's going to be if it was my John Deere wood but yeah I want to hook onto that and see if the turret rotates freely [Music] [Music] oh yeah we could probably just leave it just pull it and it'll rotate behind it I think it would just drag that yeah [Music] actually do we have a soft where's the soft shackles I like it that's a good sign okay it's all time okay [Music] [Music] all right [Music] [Music] all right so what we did we took the uh Sandy excavator over hooked up to their bucket to make sure that the turret was moving freely which it is so now the plan is we put the bucket back where we found it we're going to hook to the actual base of the excavator and start dragging it out which in theory the turret should just drag that arm to directly behind it you should be able to pull the excavator straight out and the bucket will follow like a little puppy dog on a leash in theory good theory right yeah I hope so it kind of sucks because this does not have any really great hook points normally an excavator frame has like a big dowel hole like that right there he's and stuff in this one just has a big plate on the other side which is better than nothing but it's also not great because the hooks are going to want to slip and slide so that'd be a little cautious let's try the hook on first so let's grab the hook we've got those hook cables debride them or I've got them in the basket on the back of the lowboy we're here see diesel said he's willing to go into this yucky Mucky water or we can use the ropes yeah we want we want to keep diesel clean because we don't you know you might have to ride home with them uh get it there's a good possibility we might fall in just accidentally because this thing weighs a ton we hook one right here and one on the other side one this way and one the other way that will hold it in a round circle and you'll pull straight let me just try pulling it and see what it does real quick pull it with what this the hook underneath yeah yep underneath okay Skeeter you got that other end still keep pulling pull hard pull hard [Music] it was right out of my reach okay pull it your way I tried to be the hero my arms work were like two inches short yeah we'll do it again wait what did you pull it out pulled but he didn't quite pull fast enough I got it all right diesel to the rescue you're on the water well just my arm just his arm don't tell my wife and like 50 of your hair oh really a little bit I've only got 50 left that would have been all of it [Music] yeah here we go first tug first tug is the deepest you know any Sheriff Pro pants yeah all right all right thanks [Music] Sammy has got plenty of hydraulic power but the issue that we're running into is open break the dish we're running into is I need better uh I need a better Anchor be sure I just broke something [Music] well we're hooking up the head to the back of the excavator for more pulling power [Music] foreign [Music] [Laughter] the same hole just kicked Allen's ass twice in a row animal made a hole right where I walk and I keep disappearing falling down the hole so there we go while you're working on that let's hook the hook right here to the side of the track so I can pick this up and kind of break it free come down here a little bit up okay watch out I don't know how strong that step is [Music] tight okay hold it tight hold it foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he's at the back table go one more time [Music] [Music] [Music] or basically at the end we're going to read it yeah [Music] it's out of the pond it's great the old uh the old bucket curl technique where we hook onto the back part of the bucket and then we curl it provides an incredible amount of Leverage um like I don't know what it's probably four times the actual curling force of the bucket and that's how I've kind of used this thing to get unstuck just about everything so we've got it out now I'm going to clear a path clean this ramp up a little bit and make sure that we can get the rest of the way out without damaging anything so now should we unhook you uh no I'm good for a second I'm just gonna move this so foreign [Music] should have done one of those guess how longs because that was [Music] that went pretty much picture perfectly so now my plan is to rotate the boom so I don't wipe out their tree and then just keep dragging it out they really only want it like right in here somewhere so they can work on it Al unhook me Dave what if you grab the bucket and if you lift it up you should just go over the tree with it and shut down yeah my way [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] they had a 210 ton crane lined up to come lift this thing up but then it couldn't get across the bridge to get in here because the access is a little limited so even though that wasn't very difficult we really kind of were the only guys for the job that could do it in a timely manner you know any other excavation company who knows what they're doing as far as recovery goes could have done it but we got the chance so that's one machine down and in about an hour so good happy I'm impressed yeah and I did good I did you've been waiting way too long for something that simple oh yeah [Music]
