"In the Field" tips: Picking a ripe watermelon

[Music] here we are in the watermelon patch we're gonna see which watermelon is right and give you a few hints on how to choose your right watermelon out in the field some of them won't work when you get to the grocery store but some of them might so we're going to start out here with this little brown curlicue here it looks like a curled up pigtail when it's green but it's dried out now that's a pretty good sign that's right and then you know you can you can thump it if they sound holler like this one does that's another sign in fact another sign would be it up here and look at the bottom down here we're sitting from the dirt out or on the plastic or whatever if it's yellow like that is that's another pretty good sign that's right [Music] and then if you want to take a [Music] a broom straw to the grocery store too with you or the farmer's market you can lay it lay the broom straw right there on the watermelon but you take it lay it on there and it'll turn something like that [Music] up and down and put it crossways to go up and down it's supposed to be right [Music] you
