Not sure why Luke is on a OneTigris streak...so many other tents out there.

I'm constantly baffled as to why companies don't hire people like Luke to help develop products that actually work. They produce thousands of units before actually testing them.

my friends welcome to this episode of the outdoor gear review what i have here is a brand new product from one tigress this is the skyena tent if you go back in time i reviewed the one tigress cosmeto tint if you haven't seen my review my testing on that tent you should check that out after this episode i bring that up because of this this is the brand new version of that tent basically one tigress took my feedback that i had for the cosmeto tint and they made this tent this is the new and improved cosmeto tent talking about the cosmeto for just a second here that was a very interesting product it was a three season tint i liked the design of it but unfortunately it leaked like crazy thanks to the testing done here at the outdoor gear review one tigress changed their product information concerning that tent after my testing they re-evaluated the product and on their website they put up a big warning that says that you are not meant to use that product in anything other than light rain the simple fact was this the tent leaked like crazy it was not waterproof and while i like the design a tent that's not waterproof is practically useless unless you're using it in conditions that you can ensure that the tent is not going to be exposed to rain a few months back i heard from one tigress and they stated that they were going to take all of the feedback that i had given concerning the cosmeto tent and that they were making a brand new tint here we go this is it the skyena tent this is a two person three season tent it was just released i just got this in in this episode we're going to take a close look at it we're going to look at the features we're going to look at the functions and we're going to look at the quality then my friends we're going to go straight into the testing we're going to do rain testing when testing and i may even do some traveling to test this out in adverse conditions so stay tuned to the channel by the way everyone i should mention this i am not working with one tigress they took my feedback they made this product but i had no input i'm not a part of their company with this episode with my channel i'm agenda free i don't get paid by companies to do reviews i don't care if you buy this product or not i'm not going to get any sort of kickbacks this channel is all about information and that's it if you go out to purchase one of these tents this is what you will receive with it you get the storage bag it has a draw pool up at the top you have a handle down at the bottom tent stakes ground sheet let's take a quick look here at the tent stakes we have five guy lines here are the tent stakes these are made from aluminum and you get 10 of these now my friends let's take a look at the tent poles it looks like two tent poles here we have a smaller one and then lastly everyone we have the secondary pole and this is connected and we'll talk more about this in just a minute with the poles they are made from 7001 aluminum we have the body and we have the fly now my friends i'm going to set up the tent real quick and i'm going to use the included ground sheet before going any further in this episode make sure to hit the like button because it does help out it's a great way to support the outdoor gear review and i appreciate it all right everyone the body has been set up here here in just a second we'll move to the fly but let's focus on the body first and the unusual features because there are a few here so you can see how it's set up you can see that there's a lot of mesh you have the top you have a bathtub floor with high sides you have two mesh panels here on this side this is a door this is not now you could see through this mesh but not through this one and that's because on the inside you have a fabric panel or i should say panels actually you can unzip these or zip these back into place if you want to stop air from coming into your tent that is a very interesting feature i've never seen that before with a three season tint with these panels again you can unzip them they also connect with velcro as far as this entrance goes that's what it looks like again you do have a very aggressive bathtub floor that's sticking up roughly 10 inches this side of the tent is interestingly different than the other side you can see that the design is different you have a large door here with two zippers now it should be mentioned these zippers come together and they meet and where they meet at there's a good size gap it's about the same size as the tip of your pinky and that's a gap that cannot be closed off so the inside of this tent is always going to be exposed somewhat to like ants or maybe even mosquitoes the likelihood of them getting in is low but it can happen the door opens up like this and with both doors they can be rolled back now that i'm inside the tent here check out this panel so you can see how they can both be taken down that is really really interesting on the inside you have two large pockets up on the top these are huge they are huge you also have one small pocket next to the large door again this tent features a bathtub floor you have taped seams and you also have a hook up at the top before i put the fly on everyone let's focus on these poles for a second they feature a 120 degree bend which allows for the shape of the body the shape of this tent to be rather large so the walls are high they're not angled like a lot of tents are basically what that translates to is this on the inside of this tent you have a ton of space so both individuals this is again a two-person tent they could sit up they could change clothes i mean you could even stretch out if you want to you have the high walls the high sides because of the shape of those poles next that translates to awesome views on both sides because you have large doors here so let's say that you're up on a mountain you're looking at the sunrise or the sunset you can easily look through these walls here because the openings are so big next because the openings are so big this translates to airflow when you have the doors open excellent airflow on both sides talking about airflow let's go back to those panels here's a scenario for you all to consider let's say that you're inside of this tent you've set up maybe on the beach or something like that and the winds are coming in let's say that you want to control the amount of wind that's coming into the tent you can set it up with the panels facing the incoming wind and you can zip those up you can basically control the amount of wind that's coming into the tent with those panels then on the other side you have plenty of mesh so that you can still enjoy good airflow good temperature control this is something that i want to test out this is something that i'm interested in the panels zip up on the sides but then they're connected by velcro here in the center my question is this how much wind can these panels withstand before they bust loose i wish that the panels were zipped in here along the center of the tent that way you wouldn't have to worry about how strong the winds are and you wouldn't have to worry about the wind coming in between the pieces of velcro but as is you may have to i don't know that's something that we have to test out because there are gaps between these pieces of velcro where wind and air could potentially get inside of the tent okay boy boy am i concerned uh okay something i want to point out here it's not that big of a deal but you see these tent stakes these are the pools just about every single one of these have come loose so far i always give it to you straight right well today is no different i have to say that i am perplexed by this i looked at this tent on the one tigris website i looked at the pictures and i didn't fully grasp what i was looking at this side of the tent was always a big question mark for me what exactly was going on in that picture i could see that it was rounded i just couldn't figure out exactly how this side of the tent was protected and to be honest i am very very concerned there is no fly on this side of the tent it is fully exposed so the only thing that's keeping you dry are the fabric panels on the inside of this tent but you have to keep in mind everyone it's zippered on this side zippered on this side it's not zippered on this side you have two places of velcro and that's it that's the only thing holding those into place those are the only things stopping rain and water from getting to the inside of this tent i do not think this tent is going to be waterproof in all situations man i could be wrong i want to say this i absolutely could be wrong we will do the testing but there are major reasons to be alarmed here the company claims that they've tested this out so i'm going to go on the assumption that they know exactly what they're talking about and again if i'm wrong i will say so but yeah i'm very very concerned here i am very concerned i'm now on the inside of this tent here and i'm going to zip up and put the other panel into place the zipper itself is not waterproof it's not a water resistant zipper by any means and again here along the center the panel is only being held into place by the top zipper and the two sections of velcro and that's it there's nothing here that would stop the wind from blowing water and rain through this i mean nothing at all what the company has done is this they've removed the exterior fly and they've put the fly on the inside of the tent behind the mesh if it's a situation where the rain is simply coming down you may not have a problem but if you're in a situation where it's breezy where it's windy where it's really raining i think there's a high likelihood that this tent is going to fill with water and there's nothing to do to stop it when i picked up the fly initially i was thinking to myself wow this is so lightweight this is why the side is completely gone i don't want to seem like i'm being too negative here because again i could be wrong everyone i want to make sure that's very very clear but based upon my 30 years plus experience with tents and whatnot i yeah yeah i do not think this is going to end well yesterday my buddy mike we were talking about this tent on patreon and he sent me an email afterwards and he stated that he had found two chinese videos in regards to this tent and he was translating the comments in one of those videos in one of those videos some individual claimed that his skyena tent leaked after seeing this tent after setting it up i do think that is highly likely that is highly probable okay let's go ahead and shift gears for a second here and let's talk about the materials and the specs of this tent the price of this tent is 250 as far as the available colors go you're looking at coyote brown when it comes to the materials you're looking at ykk zippers 7001 aluminum poles aluminum stakes when it comes to the body that's a 40 denier silicone treated rip stop nylon that has a hydrostatic rating of 3000 the fly itself is a 20 denier silicone treated rip stop nylon and it too features a 3 000 millimeter hydrostatic head rating when the t is stored it is 15 and a half inches long and it's 8 inches wide when it's all set up you're looking at 6.8 feet long it is 4.1 feet wide and it stands 3.7 feet tall and the weight of this is 5.3 pounds now everyone let's talk about some features that i haven't mentioned so far first when it comes to the setup this features your typical rectangle shape with one exception here on this side where you have these two flaps the front pulls out which alters the shape of the body next up this tint can be set up without the inner so you can set this up with just the fly and the ground sheet for a hasty shelter there is one problem to that that you have to consider you can set it up for a hasty shelter but this side has no fly right you will always have this hole here so you're not fully protected in my opinion this is a big problem this is a really big problem with this tent and as i mentioned before i couldn't quite gauge what was going on in the pictures i was a little bit confused and i know that other people were confused as well some people even thought that the pictures on the one tigress website were of two different tints i completely understand that because now that it's set up i just i do not get this i do not get this at all so as far as space goes this is very spacious for a two-person tent it's very impressive it's wide it's long it's tall the side pulls out there's a lot of space inside of this tent for two people and that does justify the 5.3 pounds yes the tint is a little bit heavy for a two person tint but you do have quite a bit of space here next up i love the fact that you can pull out the sides of the tent so you can have additional airflow that's excellent the overall setup process of this tent is very easy the quality seems to be very good i've inspected this very closely the seam tape looks great the stitching looks great there are a few loose threads here and there but no big deal all in all i give it a 10. as far as observable quality goes i think i've said it enough so far i have to admit that my mind is blown here it's blown over the years i have seen tents that feature internal flies and they have all been the same none have protected the users inside there's always been leaking with internal flies so to see this come back i'm just scratching my head here i'm really at a loss of words so i'm going to go ahead and end this episode right here folks please know this i have not tested this tent out i do not know what's going to happen i suspect it's going to leak in certain situations it will leak so my testing begins right now now is your turn to comment down below and share your thoughts what do you all think about this tent do you all think this is a good design i i love the fact that one tigress is trying out new designs i mean applause to you but the design choices have to make sense and this does not again i don't think it's going to leak in all situations but there will be some cases where it will that's where this episode ends now coming up very soon i will have a setup episode concerning this tent that is a series that i call before you buy i will go over the setup process for both setups with this tent the hasty setup and also the full setup after that i will have the test night episode where i get this tent out into some rain we will see how it does i may have to do multiple test night episodes with this tent because one simple rain test may not provide adequate information this is a product that has to be tested out in the wind as well and in heavy heavy rain after the test night episodes come up my review will come up my advice so far after looking over this tent is not to buy it hold off let me test this out because there is there are reasons to be concerned i'm concerned my mind is blown comment down below is your mind blown as well everyone take care be well strength and honor make sure to hit the thumbs up because it does help the channel i really do appreciate you all i do bye for now everyone [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] you
