hello friends and welcome to the new episode of our slash i don't work here lady and what could be better for starting a video than a little instant karma for karen and our first story do you work here this just happened last week and i've been excited to share it here i had just gotten off work at a large retail store and was doing a bit of personal shopping karen you know her rg is random guy no uniform gangsta attire very obviously not an employee karen pushes past me huffing and puffing like they do karen hey do you work here crap i'm not in the mood for this it's been a long day i turn around and she has her back to me pointing at rg who was obviously lost as well rg me no do you work here karen i asked you that rg but do you work here karen obviously not you shouldn't be rude to customers this is why nobody likes you people she spins around and pushes past me again muttering loudly the service here is horrible once she gets a few aisles away i approached rg me hey man that was awesome rg yeah that b was rude as hell me i actually do work here but i'm off the clock can i help you find something rg yeah actually i'm trying to fix this but i have no idea what i'm doing i give him some advice and tell him where to find the stuff he needs and make sure he knows where to get the other things on his list rg thanks dog i would have been here all day and probably effed it when i got home me no problem thanks for making my day i'm totally posting this on the internet so we laugh and i get to go home in a good mood karen however is likely to have a bad day every day good guy in the wild fends off the feral carrot and our second story shipping groceries here's a story that stuck with me ever since it happened this was 12 years ago while i was working at a grocery store in my final year of high school before moving away and starting at university first note there were at least four other grocery stores from the same chain in the area i'd finished my shift i had the early shift and was headed home when i realized i forgot to do my shopping after work luckily for me there was another store on my way home and i decided to go there to do my shopping i get the things i need and head down to the register to cash out when i get there i notice there's a bit of a cue forming up and i see that the cashier girl is working as fast as she can while attempting to call someone over to open a second register here's the scene it's mid-afternoon and most people are finishing work and going grocery shopping before heading home the store is full of customers and also the shift changes for the employees at the register there's a woman i know from my own workplace referred to as single mom with her two kids and a lot of groceries doing her weekly shopping single mom is not having the greatest time with her youngest kid on her arm and the other kid pulling on her wanting to go home and all the while single mom is trying to put her groceries up on the counter behind single mom stands another woman a karen who's dressed smart skirt shirt and business jacket and this lady is impatient and clearly does not care for single mom and her struggles karen starts mouthing off to the cashier karen you need to call someone to come up and open a second register this is taking too long i have an important meeting cashier i've called a few times and someone will be here when they're able to open up a carrot don't give me that bs i've been watching you you haven't even bothered trying and you work so slow i'm surprised they even keep you on at this point i can tell the single mom is feeling very embarrassed about causing a cue and her kids making a scene i can also tell that the cashier is taken aback by the comments coming from karen second note i had a part-time job as a bouncer dorman at one of the local pubs in addition to the grocery store dealing with drunk and or entitled idiots makes dealing with people like karen a lot more manageable me excuse me miss she did call for someone to come but the store is in a bit of a rush at the moment just be patient and everything will work out fine karen turned around and looked at me with a stare that could melt pain karen how dare you speak to me like that i am the ceo at bozarus shipping company and i will not tolerate anyone talking to me that way she then looks me over and we both realize i'm wearing my uniform under my unzipped jacket karen get over to that register and do your effing job me listen i don't work at this store i work at the other one a few blocks down karen lies you have your uniform on trying to slack off are you get behind the register or i'll have you fired one word to your manager should do the trick before i can respond to these threats the sweet cashier attempts to cut in cashier he doesn't work for us lady he's employed at another store karen shut the f up i'm going to get you both fired for this incompetence her gaze now shifts to single mom who's putting up her final few items and getting ready to pay the face of single mom drains of all color when she realizes her wallet is missing and without missing a beat karen goes into overdrive are you effing joking all that waiting with those whiny brats for you to not even have your wallet with you this is unacceptable i demand to speak to the manager you two pointing a finger in my face and the cashier are finished here and you pointing at single mom and her kids get your effing kids and get out i suggest doing your shopping somewhere else and get rid of your kids while you're at it you're clearly not cut out to be a mother i just about lost it here i knew single mom from our own store and she's a loyal customer to our chain of stores her kids are quite nice and polite but like everyone else in life they can have a bad day seeing her starting to tear up got my blood boiling me hey and that's about as far as i got when from behind me a voice calls out from an unknown stranger this man moves past me holding a carton of milk and a loaf of bread moves straight up to single mom in the cashier stranger you lost your wallet somewhere miss sm i must have dropped it when i got my kids from kindergarten i'm so sorry for this stranger don't fret miss i'll pay for your items he said it with a kind smile karen is actually speechless at this point but i can tell she's fuming at this man and she's not done karen who the heck do you think you are you just cut the line and stranger enough i've been standing here watching you treat these people like dirt and you should really reconsider how you behave especially in public karen excuse me how dare you talk to me like that you should just shut up and stay out of this because it's none of your business i felt bad for the kind man who helped out single mom and was really polite about it all he was going to get worked over by karen for this but to my surprise he was really calm and actually starting to smile then without saying a word he handed her a business card a little confused about it she accepted it and studied it for a bit her face turned pale and she dropped her groceries on the floor her eyes were as wide as plates and rapidly moving from the card to the man stranger you see i think you should pack your office and look for work somewhere else karen did work at boats rs shipping company but she wasn't the ceo she was the secretary the man however was the owner and chairman of the board of boats or us a little case of i don't work here in instant karma and yeah i'll remember that story until the day i die that karma is sweet and our third sure i'll take a free shot of wait what let me preface this story by saying that i'm a barfly after work i'm always going for a cold one or five this particular bar is located just off the campus of a university which is also my alma mater and three minutes from where i've worked now for nearly 19 years the crew knows me the owner knows me even a bunch of the professors on campus know me i've got my own seat at the bar practically i'm the norm from cheers at this place on tuesday there is a black velvet any style shots and miller high life special for a dollar fifty campus had just started for the fall semester and the bar was packed with students both new and returning and professors i'm two or three shots and two or three beers deep but i buy those at the bar around everybody's happy and we proceed to toast to a good semester i hang back a bit and talk with all the crew for a while before i buy another round and this starts the ball rolling old professor buys a round for the bar a returning student buys around for the bar another student buys around for the bar yet another student buys a round for the bar for everyone except me i blink at the bartender but blow it off i'm having way too much fun with the staff and customers to think about it then he does it again around for the bar for everybody except me i questioned the bartender about it and he has no idea what's up i kind of started questioning those around me if they knew what was going on i was fairly effed up at this point and it was starting to nag at me is it my u.s navy hat did i flirt with his mom and not know it the more i think about it the more time the liquid courage has to properly seep into my bloodstream i'm actually getting upset that this kid sniped me and only me on a shot the bartender sees it in my eyes and tells me to let it go i can't i haul my drunken butt to the far end of the bar and sit down right next to the kid and spin my stool to look directly at him while the far end of the bar is looking at me thinking i'm gonna beat this poor kid to a pulp i do what any drunken angry fool would do i stick out my hand and say hi i'm mr underbar majorly what's your name kid he introduces himself and i asked him what brings him to campus turns out he's just back from afghanistan and starting his gi bill to be an engineer call the bartender over instantly and buy him and myself around we talk for a bit more turns out his family went to my high school as well and i actually know his uncle small world small talk goes on for a bit when i finally pop the question look i have to ask why were you buying rounds for the bar for everyone except me his reply as most of you have seen coming considering the name of the subreddit i thought you owned the place him and i had a good laugh at that one he and i bought more rounds for each other while at the other end of the bar you could hear an audible sigh of relief him and i are still in touch and i'm working on getting him an internship where i work as an electrical engineer in fact that tuesday special is also on thursday and today is thursday i'm going to call him up and see if he wants me to drink him under the table again i like how you were annoyed but instead of getting angry you went and made a friend thank you all for watching the video to the end and i'll see you in the
