we believe that we are going higher tonight is there anybody that's looking to go higher tonight amen amen please stand with me for the reading of god's word our scripture can be found in the 27th number of psalms and the word of the lord reads the lord is my light and my salvation whom shall i fear the lord is the strength of my life of whom shall i be afraid when the wicked even my enemies and my foes came upon me to eat up my flesh they stumbled and failed though a host shouldn't camp against me my heart shall not fear the war shall rise against me in this will i be confident one thing have i desired of the lord and that will i seek after that i may dwell in the house of the lord all the days of my life to behold the beauty of the lord and to inquire in his temple for in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion in the secret place of his tabernacle shall he hide me he shall set me up upon a rock so far the scripture let us pray most gracious everlasting god our father god we pause now first and foremost to say thank you god we thank you for allowing us to be assembled in this place we ask now that you would shake this place on tonight let somebody be healed delivered and set free let the sound emanate from this place that would allow somebody driving by to get arrested in the holy ghost god we pray that tonight would be a night of miracle signs and wonders we pray that tonight will be the shifting point that someone needs move in this place go from isle to isle pew to pew person to person and do what you do best wreck us jesus and we will give unto thee i want to talk my brothers and sisters from one word tonight i want to talk about distractions distractions distractions on your way to your seat look at your neighbor and say neighbor you better watch those distractions glory to god that's the wrong neighbor find you another one and look at them in the face and say you better watch those distractions that's still the wrong one amen find you another one and say yeah i'm talking to you hallelujah with your fancy self come on tell them you better watch those distractions you better watch you better watch you better watch my brothers and sisters um there's a teenage girl who had just gotten her driver's license and she was so happy to finally have her driver's license you know getting your driver's license is probably one of the greater days of your life you know as you finally feel grown get a little sense of freedom get to go wherever you want to go you get to stunt behind the will of a car that's probably not yours amen and this teenage girl gets her driver's license and the first thing she wants to do is go out with her friends and so she asks her father she says can i can i please daddy tonight go out with my friends and her father tells her he says surely you can go out with your friends he says but uh your friends cannot ride with you he says i want you to ride by yourself and he tells her he says now i need you to do me a favor he says i need you to be careful driving home because you know we live off of a dark road and on that dark road there's deers that's always running across the road so he tells her he says i need you to be careful i need you to drive slow and i need you to watch out for those deers well baby girl goes out with her friends she makes it safely to the restaurant she gets in her car she's getting ready to drive home and she makes it to the dark road that her father was telling her about as she makes it to the dark road that her father tells her about she was busy looking deep into the dark trees on one side and deep into the open field of the other side trying to make sure she didn't hit a deer she's driving down the road real slow or as slow as she possibly could without being a distraction and she's looking deep on one side in the woods looking for a deer to pop out and then she looks on the other side of the field thinking surely a deer is going to run across the field and going to run into the streets and the problem was that she was so busy looking deep into the field for the deer that she lost she lost sight of the road she was looking deep in the open field for a deer that she lost sight of the road and before you knew it she had driven right into a ditch she never hit a deer but she ran into the ditch she was uh distracted by what could be instead of focusing on what was come here church let me put this in your soup while i'm in your kitchen because too many times we have a people that are distracted by what could be instead of focusing on what is too busy distracting on what too busy distracted by what you think you want instead of being focused on what what is right in front of you to too busy distracted by the things you desire and not being focused on the road that the lord has put ahead of you we are raising a distracted people even in church we get distracted by the smallest stuff people are leaving churches because you don't like somebody instead of being focused on the fact that i'm not here for the people but i'm here for god you you quit the choir because somebody gets on your nerves or or you don't usher no more because nobody speaks to you or you don't want to be a minister no more because you feel like you never get a turn to preach or you don't want to be a prayer warrior no more because you feel like you can't pray like sister jones and and so now you are distracted by what's around you instead of being focused on the fact that the reason i'm doing what i'm doing in the first place is because my father gave me the keys to the car uh you'll catch that when you get home hallelujah to god the reason hallelujah i'm even able to drive is because my father is trusting me with the opportunity amen to master what belongs to him but i'm so distracted by what could hurt me that i can't function in the fact that i've got keys to something other people don't have keys to i waited for keys to my father's car and i finally got it but i'm too busy being distracted by what i might hit on the way my brothers and sisters a distraction is the thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else a distraction uh webster calls it an extreme agitation of the mind or the emotions i like that one do you hear that it's an extreme agitation of the mind or an extreme agitation of the emotions there's some things where we're doing because our emotions are jacked up there's some some places that we're going and some stuff that we're involved into because our emotions get the best of us we are an emotional people we are moved by what we feel we are moved hallelujah about how somebody makes us feel instead of being focused on the place that god is calling us to go to and my brothers and sisters this here is what we will find to be the crutch of our text and psalms 51 it is a psalm of repentance from a man who had been distracted this man's name is david david the worshipper and the warrior this man is david the shepherd boy and the king this man is david one who has a strong relationship with god this man is david the one who god took from the backside of the field and anointed him when surely he shouldn't have been anointed he's a boy of flaws and mistakes he's a boy who god took from nothing and made him something god took him from the ghetto and let him become king in the palace god put the best before him and and this david this david this david who was blessed of the lord who's who who had god's hand on his life the bible teaches us that one day this david was in his room and as he was in his room he saw this beautiful woman by the name of bathsheba bathsheba my brothers and sisters i was bathing ah glory to god across his room bathsheba a scripture would declare amen that she was pretty fine glory to god she was a good looking woman hallelujah she looked real good i i bet you bathsheba i probably had a red dress i i bet you bathsheba amen probably hallelujah was a yellow bone i i bet you bathsheba hey man probably had them little braids in her hair she was fine y'all hallelujah i'm sorry i didn't mean to talk about you but anyway hallelujah here here she was a bathsheba and she's bathing and she has nothing on it and david hallelujah can i preach free y'all ain't gonna judge me the night can david with his freaky self hallelujah to god ah glory to god david david was a man he loved women oh come on come on you're not gonna make me be deep like that tonight are you hallelujah i wish more y'all men love anyway how did david was he was a man who hallelujah he'd love to sit down please he was a man who loved women he had glory to god just not one woman i didn't mean to do that that slip come on y'all he was a man he he was a man he he was a man the bible says he loved women in so much that in order to find out whether or not david was dead or alive when he was sleeping in his bed the bible says they took a young damsel and threw her in the bed with david and said if he don't get up he must be laid down hallelujah to god that's what he said read it in another version hallelujah and he he was that's your bible i didn't make that's your bible hallelujah he was a man who loved women and the bible says that this david i saw bathsheba bathing and as he saw her bathing something in david said to himself i just happened to have this woman she she she moved him on the inside uh she she stirred him on the inside she she set a flame to his soul hallelujah she ignited him just not in jesus hallelujah david was on fire for this woman he had to have a he told his servants because he's the king and he can have whatever he wants so he tells the servant go tell her that i like her tell her that i want to see a teller to come by the king's room tell her i got a little wine here hallelujah maybe some moscato i don't know i don't know what he had i know that's what some of y'all christians like he said tell her i got some of that stuff hallelujah in my room tell her to come see me amen and a visit turned into a long night hallelujah oh come on church don't look at me in that tone of voice cause some of y'all had a whole lot of visits that turned into [Applause] [Music] some of y'all had a whole lot of netflix and chill that turned hallelujah to god into a long night ah come on thank you moe i got one witness hallelujah amen some of y'all thought then in the movie i was just dinner in the movie but after the movie there was some dessert you know you know what i'm talking about hallelujah to god in here here david was and had bathsheba amen in his house and glory to god bathsheba is in her house and she didn't bend with the king and i like to believe uh the way david liked oh bathsheba i like to believe that a one-night stand turned into weeks ah glory to god yes sir uh yeah yeah until one day one day she woke up and realized she had missed her cycle realized that she was pregnant and realized that it was not her husband that had impregnated her because her husband uriah was out there fighting for the king she come and tell old david she said oh dave she said i know we've been having a good time she says oh dave i enjoyed coming to see you i enjoyed the netflix i enjoyed the moscato i enjoyed the good night i enjoyed you holding me when my man couldn't hold me cause he was out there fighting for you oh come on oh come on she wasn't supposed to enjoy it but she did oh but you've been there too you enjoyed a whole lot of stuff you once [Music] [Applause] well y'all gonna lose me let me preach tonight and the bible says that oh david glory to god oh david oh david oh david you you know the first thing we do when we get caught in our sin is instead of being real with our sin we try to find a way to cover oh come on church oh come on church oh come on look at your neighbor say neighbor you know you've been there you've been there you've been there you've been there when you didn't messed up hallelujah didn't come you don't try to make it right oh come on can i get a real church in here when you've been there where the first time when you mess up you ain't trying to make it right you're trying to cover it up have you ever sat there and tried to figure out how am i going to fix this oh y'all cute in here tonight y'all real come on here oh i got some lion folk in here today you ain't never been in that thing and got caught up and tried to sit there and try to figure out how i'm gonna cover this up how am i going to make sure that oh come on thank you elder aaron i thought somebody would be on this oh come on look at your name and say neighbor you know you tried to cover that thing you know you tried to figure out what lie could i tell hallelujah to god maybe i'ma tell them i was at my friend's house maybe i'm gonna tell them that the police pulled me over maybe i'm gonna tell him i've been in jail all night no you weren't in jail don't you go see about your wife trying uh to pin the baby on uriah ah hallelujah to god and uriah uriah uriah is so faithful how to david that uriah doesn't even go see about his wife but uriah if i can paint the picture like i see it he leaves david's house after leaving david's house instead of going home to see his family how he he curls up at the step of the king he squirls up at the step of the king because he's loyal to his job as a soldier instead of leaving to go see his wife he is faithful to a man who has just impregnated the woman that he loves he doesn't know it yet but he stays there one day i'm going to preach a sermon called what does it feel like to be uriah oh come on here oh god how dangerous it is how unfair i'm working for you i'm serving you i'm being faithful to you and you didn't mess around here and got my wife knocked up while i was out there in the field working for you and y'all around here talking about church hurt cause somebody didn't let you sing yourself away with me with that crazy foolish y'all don't know what that is this man was faithful to the king and the king had violated his home [Music] here my brothers and sisters when david wakes up in the morning and sees that uriah making a long story short sees that uriah is still in front of his house he tells the captain of the guard take uriah and put him on the front line so that while they're in battle in order to hide my sin i'll kill the man that could expose how many people have you hurt to hide your sin how many people have you betrayed your sin uriah is now dead bathsheba now has to plan a funeral for her husband while pregnant with the king's baby got to get life insurance together knowing that the husband she made vows to is dead because of the man while david is in his palace thinking he got away the lord in second samuel the 12th chapter sends nathan the prophet to david nathan went to him and said david can we can we sit down and have a little conversation david says i'm glad you stopped my prophet i've been praying all day come on come on talk to me let's let's have a conversation and nathan tells him he says he says oh dave he says there were two men who lived in the same town he says one was rich and the other was poor the rich man had many cattle and sheep while the poor man had only one lamb which he had bought he took care of that one lamb and that one lamb grew up in his home and ate his own food off of his plate and he let that lamb drink out of his cup and he held that lamb in his lap he says this lamb was like a daughter to the poor man and one day a visitor arrived at the rich man's house and the rich man didn't want to kill one of his own animals to prepare a meal for the visitor instead he went to the poor man's house got the only lamb he had the lamb who was like a daughter to him and made a meal for the guest david was burning in anger at the rich man watch what he says he says i swear by the living lord that that man who did this ought to die [Music] says he's a cruel man he must be paid back four times as much as he took nathan looks at david in that my brothers and sisters he says watch this he says and this is what the lord god of israel says unto you i have made you king of israel and rescued you from saul i gave you his kingdom i gave you his wives i made you king over israel and judah if this had not been enough i would have given you twice as much why then have you disobeyed my commands why did you do this evil thing watch the text this is what blew me away pastor shania he don't even address the fact that he laid down with deria's wife he says why would you do this evil apostle and he says why would you kill the husband of the woman you lay down with god has almost addressing his evilness to hide what he did instead of confronting it like a man oh god it's almost like what happened with adam and eve in the garden was god really mad at adam because he ate up the tree or was he mad that he tried to hide from him and he had to make god say adam well oh come on here part of the problem with most of us is the fact that we love living in deceitful corners ah we love living in tricky space how we like oh i know i know i'm gonna get no amens here so i'm glad i got a few of them when i started hallelujah because we love looking like we got the oil all the while we've been jacking it up the whole time we like people thinking we are more than what we are and we are more distracted by fame and notoriety then we are focused on doing the thing that the lord called us to do he said david i'm angry that you killed the man cause i'm angry i'm angry because you let your passions derail your purpose oh that's my first point tonight how can i put that in your soup while i'm in your kitchen and won't you help me preach and ask your neighbor say hey neighbor oh my oh come on say hey neighbor action have you let your passions derail your purpose i know you want to be lit i know you want to be ignited for god i know you want to be set on fire but if i don't deal with those passions that are that are on fire that are hindering you from the place where god wants to take you you're going to come here and shout you're going to roll in the floor you're going to hook them ashanda you're going to leave jump and run and when we get to shine baby you're going to have a good time you're gonna want a prophetic word you're gonna want to receive what god said and you're gonna go home and be so glad and hunted that god still wants to speak a word over your life but you're going to leave here and go right back to the place where god doesn't want you to be and you're going to think you are right because you came to a conference you don't think you are right because you came to a service you don't think you are right because a preacher laid his hands on you oh but let me tell you something with your shouting self that baby it is more than you coming here laying on the altar if you don't get up off this halter and be honest with yourself you're gonna leave here and in two days you're going to be depressed again because your passions have derailed your purpose oh god oh god my brothers and sisters their passions their healthy passions and their unhealthy passions david was a man of good and bad passions david loved god but david was also freaky deaky david loved leadership like king saul but david was also a man of war david was a man of worship but david was also a killer all y'all ain't talking to me here david wanted to build his david wanted to build god's house but he's the same man that destroyed uriah's house oh god my brothers and sisters david was a man of passions but he had two sets of them can i tell you tonight not only was david a man of passions we are people of passions and i know you want to sit here and act like you ain't never made no mistakes i know you want to sit here and act like you ain't never done no wrong but can we be honest my brothers and sisters we all got double passions yes we love god but we love a good drink too oh come on here yes we love god but we'll love to cuss you out too yes we love god but some of y'all love to be depressed yes we love god but some of y'all love to bagpipe and tell bear and talk about people yes we love god but then there's a side of you that if you put the right person in the room baby you'll give up your life to get hallelujah read between us yes we love god but there's stuff in us that will hinder us and i come to preach to you today because if you don't get your unhealthy passions together then your unhealthy passions are going to override your healthy passions and you're never in the the place where god wants you to be you'll be jacked up and destroyed and here dave it is [Music] psalms 51 this psalm my brothers and sisters is a psalm of repentance because david realizes i've jacked it up david realize i'm in trouble and you know what i you know what i like about the but then three days later all of a sudden the desire comes again oh i'm coming after your fire tonight you know that up i shall be your soul you're another deal three days later the desire come again and you tell yourself the devil is a liar and then you mess around and call the wrong person and the wrong person tell you go ahead you're gonna be all right hallelujah hallelujah and then you listen to them and you you forgot that the call on your life is different than the call on their life and they may be able to get away with it and they may not have no conviction but the reason you got conviction is because god got a call on you and god is trying to tell you this is not the place for you this is not the place you should be and now you're paddling between destruction and destiny [Music] you're battling between a call and a good time and you know this is not for me watch this have you ever been there and you knew it wasn't for you but you just couldn't see yourself free you say well what else am i going to do what friends am i going to have and now what happens is you're living in the dilemma of distraction and when you stay in distraction you end up in frustration and now your fire is dimmed and you know what we start doing we start blaming the church start blaming god start blaming church folks and everything frustrates you and you know why you're so frustrated because you're not in place can i tell you to tell your secret as a pastor i can always tell when the people of god are in sin and i don't need to be prophetic to be able to tell i can always tell because everything frustrates them everything get on their nerves they always got something to say so now okay you caught up now i'm gonna take a few days to see just in what and if you keep on watching the facebook post i'ma tell you about yourself if you keep watching the instagram story come on here if you keep on watching where they are you begin to see the frustration or you see the sin that now has them in a better place [Music] because the last thing people want that's caught up somebody to tell them that there come on help me tell them that they're and they're distracted and they're disturbed and they're frustrated and they're uncomfortable and they don't know what to do and they're coming to church weeping but they ain't getting delivered weeping and ain't changing and before you know it the passion they once had so now they sit in the back of the church now everybody worshiping and they can't feel it i don't know what they don't know now they do a ministry and just don't have it because can i burst your bubble you really should not ever be without fire y'all heard me preach it i've preached it around the world and i'm gonna give it to it again tonight he tells the levites in the temple in the temple of the old testament but we are the temple in the new testament he tells them your fire should never burn out i'm not saying you won't get tired that's in your flesh but your desire to do can i can i i'm tired in my flesh right now but what helps me to stand is my call keeps me lit i don't need you to prophesy to me to build me up and encourage me i'm i mean my call keeps me because every time hallelujah i want to be tired in my body my call keeps pulling me it keeps yanking me it keeps taking me to where i'm going and i keep on standing and preaching because what god has put on my life keeps me on fire [Music] but we're burnt out because we're playing in water all but your hands are lifted your hands are lifted [Music] it makes no sense for us to do all of this and then monday we right back where we were before it started david said restore unto me the joy of my salvation david what took your joy that old bathsheba took your joy was the conviction that your spirit man knew i'm in the wrong place your spirit man knew i mean something that you're supposed to be in and your spirit man really hates hates playing both fields cause your spirit man know you can't love god amen at the same time your hands are lifted come on lift him or up them like you want your fire lift them like you believe that god is getting ready to set you on blaze for where god is calling you because can i tell you church there is a place that god has preordained for you and the reason you're here and not everybody else is because god is saying i need to church and still do their thing i know the rest can lead worship and still be in the world and get away with it but god told me to tell you tonight you are not them my hand is on your life and even
