foreign [Music] from Punjab India score a band eight talking about colors the golden temple and places of importance let's begin welcome to the speaking section of the Alex exam my name is Adrian I will be your examiner for this part of the test we are conducting the exam in Ameristar the time right now is 14 o'clock this is candidate number 9788-4432 and examiner number 9951 I'm recording this for marking and clerical purposes the speaking has three parts I will give you instructions for each may I see your identification yes here it is this is the password that I've used registered myself for Royal Sony please have a look at it what is your full name our first name is randeep and my family name is Singh please refer to me my first name randeep okay randeep for part one I will ask you a couple of questions to get to know you better and some questions on a general topic where do you live I reside in a four bedroom home in Amritsar in the state of Punjab with my family do you work or go to school I am currently attending school I am at Chief Shankar Institute of Engineering in my final year of study and my main focus is on mechanical engineering let's talk about colors what is your favorite color I really like the color red because it's so vibrant and it just catches the eyes and bring out all the emotions like strength and passion and I also have lots of red color in my room are there any colors that you do not like well I am not particularly fond of peach because it's very simple and doesn't create any kind of aesthetic and excitement I really try to stay away from this color while choosing the cloth right away randeep starts confident his hands are up on the table he's making great eye contact and he's answering in full sentences when the examiner asks for his identification he explains that here's his ID that he used for registration a little while ago be sure to start with clear full fluent sentences right from the get-go in order to achieve these high band scores now Run Deep always focuses on explaining his answers he says that he likes the color red because it is so vibrant however he does lose a little bit from his full band 9 mark because of his pronunciation on a couple of keywords when he explains that he's not particularly fond of the color beige he needs to pronounce the word beige clearly as well as the word close make sure to pay attention to your pronunciation especially for those higher bands like band aid band 9. what colors do you wear most often and why the color blue black and white because it's go well together as you can see now I'm wearing a blue color turban and it's one of my favorite as well are there any colors that have special meaning for you well navy blue and orange has a ceremonial Milling I wear this color at times navy blue is a color of warrior and protection whereas orange represent wisdom has your preference for colors changed over time let me think well I have liked red as far as I can remember if you bought a new car what color would you choose and why given a chance to purchase a new vehicle I would really love to buy a red Jeep Wrangler because I really like this car and I can go on adventure with it and it would be easy to find in a parking lot that is the end of part one we will now continue with part two Run Deep confidently answers the more grammatically complex questions in part one with present perfect and conditional when asked have your preferences in color changed over the years he clearly uses the present perfect and says I have light red as far as I can remember using a nice natural expression as far as I can when asked in the conditional if you bought a new car what color would it be he paraphrases the condition and says given the chance to buy a new vehicle I would buy a red Jeep Wrangler it's this kind of grammar reflection that gets those high band scores you can practice this in our premium IELTS package when you click on the student partner speaking practice when you feel confident book a speaking interview lesson with a native English speaker by clicking on the speaking interview practice button now let let's continue to part two for this part I will show you some questions please do not touch the question paper you will have one minute to read the questions think about your answers and then you will have one to two minutes to speak you have some Note Paper in your pencil there you can take notes in the one minute time if you wish I will tell you when to start and when to stop again please do not touch the question paper talk about an important place in your city your one minute preparation time begins now foreign preparation time is up please begin speaking without a doubt doubt of the most significant landmark in Amritsar is Golden Temple also known as Shri harmandir Sipe which translates to everyone's Temple or home not only people from Punjab and India come to visit there but also tourists from around the world as its name implies Golden Temple it is a temple covered with golden leaves and its Brilliance can be seen from far away it is located pretty much in the center of the city and it is surrounded by large Square man-made pulled it's about 120 meters from all side and 5 meter deep the temple itself is quite big it is 10 meter high and extremely intricate design such as flowers and lots of Domes and Pinnacles it has two stories the first floor has lots of marble and the second floor is a gallery visitor come to the temple to share in the sick faith and to Marvel at its beauty the temple has four entrance which indicate equality among people six strongly believe all humans are equal so it is open for all tourists it recently has been upgraded to accommodate wheelchair as well so it also has so much significance not only for the people of Punjab and India but also the history of human welfare so it has been nominated as the UNESCO world heritage site I have read somewhere that over 150 000 people visit Golden Temple every day so it is no question it is a place that is importance in Amritsar your time is up I will stop you there please put the note paper to the side turn it over and the pencil as well we will now continue with part three Run Deep does an outstanding job talking about the Golden Temple in Ameristar he pays careful attention to answering all of the questions on the cue card to get full marks you must answer every single question on that guard clearly he does that by thinking about the location of the golden temple describing what it looks like using quantitative language explaining the dimensions of the area the size of the pool surrounding the temple and the floors the temple has then he talks about the people who visit this Golden Temple locals and tourists alike and even gives the amount of tourists that visit each year he explains what happens and why this place is important also very cleverly when he feels that he has done a good job answering all of the questions on the cue card he finishes with the concluding sentence stating that certainly this is a very important place for people in Punjab it's this kind of concluding sentence that can signal The Examiner that you have finished your response and you're ready for part three having a complete story is exactly what you need to do in order to get these Band-Aid band 9 scores you can get a score estimate for your part to response by sending us your mp3 part 2 recording to this email address also in the video description now on to part three uh for part three I will ask you a question related to your response and some questions connected to this topic when is the last time you visited this Temple as far as I can remember last January with my grandparents I visited over there arguably part three is the most challenging for IELTS candidates especially for those who have practiced the speaking section before they sit their IELTS exam this is no surprise because part three requires the most thinking grammar and lexical resource so if you feel confident about your English be sure to spend most of your practice on part three questions in this case Run Deep could also do a better job answering the follow-up question when was the last time he visited the golden temple he should add a bit more explaining the reason for his visit and how he felt about it keep in mind the answer explanation example strategy from start to finish follow these tips and you too can get a great band score on your next IELTS exam just like one of our former students baljit I got an overall
