have you ever wondered what the best ramen in the entire world tastes like well let's find out today everything starts at this small unassuming shop in the middle of Shinjuku Tokyo I'm here to eat Tokyo's best ramen and it's currently 8:00 a.m. here and I'm in a line I didn't think I'd be here in my life but I'm with a bunch of friends who are just as crazy yay this could take 2 3 4 hours I don't know let's see at 7:45 a.m. on a Wednesday morning there's already a line outside of Tokyo's number one ramen restaurant Ramen yashima it only opened in 2020 but it went right to the top at number one on Japan's foodie rankings on the popular website Tabu with less than 10 items on the menu the star of this place is the soy sauce ramen and the majority of people are here to try one dish and one dish only ramen I've been lining up since just before 8 and the line is slowly getting longer and longer the place here doesn't let you write down your name to get insight until 9:00 a.m. so people are waiting before you can even sign off anticipating the line and if you come here when the shop actually opens the chances are you're not going to be able to get inside so you got to come before it opens 20 25 people now so one of my friends here has a work meeting at 10:00 a.m. so we planned out what time we want to be in the shop because you can literally see if you're number five you're going to go in at for example 10:30 so we went to what number are we 18 which number 18 which means we'll go in at 11:00 a.m. so we lost our place in the line we've meticulously planned this so that we can all go in at the same time hey it's already the beginning of autumn here and quite chilly in the morning I definitely wouldn't want to do this weight in the middle of winter it would be freezing like my fingers are already cold summer would also be brutal because it would be so hot so you got to choose your season wisely rain would also not be another option right next to the Ramen Shop there's conveniently a family mile located so while you're waiting online you can come inside and get a snack or drinks but I heard from my friend that the coffee machine is broken that's what I need cuz I woke up at 6: a.m. got a lot of time to kill on this line so they're all searching which Ramen to order the sh you one is the most famous but there are so many delicious looking options I think we're all just going to be basic and go with the standard well the most popular and famous one if I allowed to order more I'd probably get another one and then share it with everyone cuz I'm curious I don't know if I have the patience to line up again in my life this might be a one time thing only currently 8:30 now and the line is getting longer and longer we've come almost 50 to 70 M away from the shop I think it's still going to go a bit more down this street cuz we've got another 30 minutes until everyone can write their names one thing I did notice is that Japanese people are known to be respectful but they're also lining up in a respectful way to not you know obstruct the street there's a drive for and people aren't lining up over it they're literally leaving a gap and lining up past it respect we're lining up for this Ramen we're saying we should go eat more right it's been on my bucket list yeah now we're going to become Ramen coniss Y super lucky because it's 8:35 now and people are signning to write down their names and that means we don't have to stand this line any longer we're going to be free and it guarant is us a seat inside after patiently waiting in the cold it was finally time where we could start writing our names down this process moved by pretty quickly and we made it we secured our place inside okay it's time to write down our names and we ended up being about 25th and we're coming back at 11:35 it's only 8:45 and the line has almost dwindled and are still spaces so it's good to know that even if you come right before 9:00 you might be able to get a seat it really depends on the day and how busy things are like if there's a public holiday or there's more people that are taking off work for whatever reason there's officially no one left in the line now and it's only 8:50 but just looking at the shop now you wouldn't know that it's a famous ramen restaurant it looks just like another restaurant that's not open yet but oh there see there's more people lining up now people are just coming in and they're probably relieved that they can still have their [Music] Ramen to kill some time come to a cafe nearby to get a latte as well as a little bit of bread cuz I don't think I can hold out until 11:30 have to be careful not to overeat here that could be dangerous by the time we got back of course they were sold out for today if you want to check what time they sell out check out their Twitter because they're updating it daily every seat was filled by 9:00 a.m. that's pretty impressive come back right before our appointment time at 11:30 so I got about 5 minutes to wait and I'm so hungry now very ready for this Ramen once your turn has come the chef will come out to make sure your name is accurate so don't make any mistakes in writing it down typical of most ramen restaurants you'll be ordering off this ticket vending machine so you'll put your cash in and then you'll order which one you'd like to eat and make sure to order everything the first round because you can't add any on later pretty sure it's cash only so make sure to carry some on you when you visit after receiving a piece of paper from the vending machine make sure to give this to the chef who'll prepare your order while waiting just enjoy the interior the design you can observe all the awards they've received and there's a lot of signatures on the wall from talents and famous people in Japan as well as other Ramen lovers you can take videos and photos of your food but you're not allowed to film inside the kitchen just waiting for the ramen now we're inside I'm so [Music] excited here it is wow I ordered the fanciest dish the tox show you Ramen after waiting nearly 4 hours here's my bowl of legendary Ramen it consists of a soy sauce broth Cho pork chicken slices PRN W tons and ajitama a flavored egg as well as seaweed if you're wondering what the standard Ramen here looks like this is it this is the sh you Ramen for 1,250 y a fair bit cheaper as well I got the big special sh you one so I've got all the sides I have eggs meat seaweed and I'm ready to dig in so look how hot it is that slabs this is what is needed to be the best ramen in Tokyo the texture of the noodles are like perfect perfect thickness they're on the thinner side and the consistency is so nice it's chewy here is my [Music] egg can see it oozing out that is cooked to [Music] Perfection that soup is out of this world this is a clear soup and mainly a strong chickeny soy sauce PL this is a piece of chicken in the middle too chicken inside Ramen is kind of rare I think I've only ever seen it AFI before but the wanton never seen that before with the shrimp so I had to give it to a friend cuz I can't eat seafood unfortunately but this place it was blowing my mind the Umami and flavors of everything blending together was incredible I had never tasted anything like it one important thing when eating Ramen is to make sure you don't let the noodles sit in the soup too long cuz then they'll stretch and they'll lose that consistency so I got to get to eating the chef at this ramen restaurant actually worked previously in Yokohama at another popular place called sha SOA and all of his decisions are influenced heavily by this work experience and this is why there was so much hype around this restaurant opening when it did in 2020 they actually sourced their ramen noodles from a different shop called Shina sooya and that's kind of new in the Brahman industry to not make them fresh in-house [Music] going to try the chashu yeah that's so tasty NY yeah the combination of the Nei which is like spring onion rice and the sauce sauce go yeah that was amazing I was so concentrated on eating this I realized that I was almost done and very very full at at this stage there's pepper provided at the table so you can spice up your broth a little bit so tasty but surprisingly filling I think it's a combination of being really early in the day and then also just a big amount it doesn't lie when it says like C so literally everything I'm so full just one is enough for me and I eat a lot fore we'll go to see other ramen shops in Tokyo subscribe and like for more and I'll see you in another video bye
