- Hey everyone, I'm Hannah. Welcome back to my channel and welcome to day two of Vlognukah. It's totally gonna become a thing. Vlognukah where I upload eight videos over the eight days of Chanukah because I'm Jewish and I wanted the lazy version of Vlogmas. So this video is exciting because I am trying something entirely new. You may have seen that I've been on a bit of a sustainable fashion journey of late. My friend Emma came on my channel and we made a video all about it and I quizzed her about all things sustainable fashion as she is very much an expert. One of the things that she mentioned in that video that I'd never heard of before is this rental service in the UK called On Loan. They are a fairly new service and I have never rented clothes before and I thought that this might scratch my itch of like wanting new clothes but not wanting to contribute to mindless consumerism and you know just acquiring a bunch of clothes that then you'll never wear again but instead, I'll rent it for a month and wear it for a bit and I'll be like yay, isn't this great. So I signed up for On Loan. So I already filled out my questionnaire thing so I'd already done that, this is what it asked me. My height, my dress size, top, bottom, and like full dress size, like all of those three separately and then it showed me a bunch of outfits and it was like select your faves and then it had some questions about tops, bottoms and dresses and it was just like I will wear anything except and then you like clicked the things that it was like you would never wear that. Not gonna lie I had to Google what some of the things were because I have no clue about fashion, so these were all the things that I had to Google 'cause like I don't know what the hell they mean. Bias-cut, kick flare jeans, flared trousers, I mean I know what flared trousers are, I just needed to know what the difference between a kick flared jean and a flared trouser was and then I also needed to know what the difference between a culotte and a wide leg pants is because I know what a culotte is, I just didn't realise they were different from a wide leg pants so yeah. So I completed my style survey with all of that information and then it also has a bit where it's like, is there anything that you want us to know like you have any events coming up or any meetings or like what travel or like whatever it is that you're like, I need a thing for this event so that's where we're at and then I got my email with my style board. I don't know, what do they call it, my edit. So we're gonna have a look at the edit. I'm very excited. See your first edit. I've not actually signed up to a subscription yet so that's what we're gonna do and I'm not gonna show you what the pics are that they have sent me because I want it to be a surprise when they arrive. Okay so how many items have they actually selected for me? So three, six, nine, 12. 12 items, okay so 12 items to pick from. I mean it's really interesting because I don't think I would like pick any of these off a rail but I kind of like that because it's gonna like push me out of my comfort zone a bit maybe but there is definitely a handful of things on here that I'm like, oh, I wanna try that. There's one thing on here that I really wanna try but I'm like I don't know if that would suit my body type. What are we gonna go for? Plans, you can get two items per month for £69 or three items per month for £99. The other thing is is that I was having a look on the website and you can see some of the collection. Like Emma said, there isn't a place for you just to scroll endlessly through loads of clothes but you can like see some items and you can create like your own little wish list. I need to select a plan to sign up. I'm gonna sign up for the 99 pounds per month one. Do you ever do this when you're like signing out for something and you're like, yes, okay, I'm gonna Google discount codes. How it works. One, view your personal edit. Two, make your selection. Three, wear and enjoy. Return and repeat. You can pause or cancel your subscription at any time. That is good to know. What happens if you need to wash them and then you wanna wear them again during the month, can you wash the clothes or is that like risky business? Just in case. Right, we are checking out. I will say though on this, they do not have a huge size range. At least on the items that I've clicked on, it's like eight to 14. Da da da da, amazing! First-time renting clothes, we'll see how this goes. And that brings us to today as the items have arrived. I'm very excited. So the first item that I got is this cow print miniskirt which is from Alexa Chung. The shape and size of the skirt is definitely my style, the print not so much but I'm always up for a little experiment. So this fits me really well. I definitely got the right size. It is not a material that I'm used to, now that I'm touching it, I'm like is this real cow print skin? I don't know, I'm sure I could find out, I don't know how that makes me feel, but this kind of animal print isn't something that I would usually wear but I really like it. It's the perfect length on me like the high-waisted mini skirt thing is something that I definitely wear. The material is just not as flexible as I would like it gathers a bit, but yeah, I'm really pleased with this. I feel like I've got some tops and some jumpers and things that I can match with this because I have a lot of colour in my wardrobe and so kind of like having like a block colour or something with this would work really well, so the first one is a success. Next up we have this amazing red number. It is from Mother of Pearl, and oh, it's got little pearls on it, isn't that nice? Probably not real pearls, but it's this little frilly top, it's got big old baggy sleeves and like a frilly bottom. Wow Hannah, you know I'm not like a normal fashion YouTuber because I'm like, how do I describe things? It's quite thick. Wow, I really love this colour. I'm excited to try it on. So I'm trying the top on with the skirt because this is kind of how I pictured it, when I ordered them I imagined the two together. It is a lot bigger like there is a lot more material than it looked like in the photos. I don't know whether that's just because I'm really short but even though there's loads of material, it was still really difficult to get over my boobs, like these aren't buttons so you can't undo these, it is actually just like attached at seam, they are pure decoration. I love the colour, the material is gorgeous. I'm not convinced with it with this skirt though even though I thought that that would work. The other thing is, is that it's like super creased but do I care about that? Also I don't own an iron. I do like it even though it was difficult to get over the boobs, it actually still like fits over the boobs nicely, the neckline I think is really good on me. I'm gonna try it on with some jeans. Okay, so this look I love. I think it can be like really casual but then also like it's so bold and I feel very comfortable in this, like I feel like me which is amazing like this is definitely going to be something that I wear out and about. Woohoo, look at these amazing sleeves. Oh my god, with the jeans, the red and the blue, ooh. Okay, this is a winner although is this the only thing I can style it with? Maybe the skirt, what else do I have? I kind of feel like I need a few options so I can like make the most out of wearing it, d'you know what I mean? Do you know what I mean, this can't be the only outfit choice but it is a good one! The third item I got is this dress from Hayley Menzies. I don't know if you can see it very well right now but it's like a little mini dress, it's got like a high neck, big long flowy sleeves and it's got this gorgeous tiger print all over it and it's this very thin material. This one is also a little bit out of my comfort zone with the kind of like neck ruffle detail, but excited. This is a very fun dress. We've got a sleeve theme going on. I adore all of the like tiger prints on it and it does have that like going in at the waist and it's like not too long on me, it comes up above the knee. This is a size eight. Spoiler alert, I actually did already try this on in the 10 and it was way too big and I returned it and they sent me the eight, and that whole process was really easy, I just emailed them and they were happy to send over another one but even the eight still has loads of room which is so strange because the other items are all in a 10 and I am just like pretty much a size 10 in the UK and so it feels strange that this size eight still has like a lot of room, like a lot of room in the shoulder, a lot of room here but even though it does feel like a little bit too big, it's definitely wearable like it's just my preference that it would be maybe a bit tighter. It is a very thin material, I don't actually know how practical going out in the winter will be in this, because this is definitely like an evening dress. I do love it though, like even though it is too small for me it still like fits fine around the boobs, I'm very confused about the sizing of this dress but I still really love it. I love pattern, I love colour, I love that it's got tigers on it and also we love a good hippie flowy sleeve, don't we? So all round, the items I think are a success like I'm definitely going to wear them all, not entirely sure how yet but they all fit, they all suit me so I am definitely going to be wearing them so for that reason, worth it, however I just have lots of thoughts in general and I don't actually know if this kind of rental service would be for me and the type of person that I am in the way that I normally shop, so for three items a month it is £99 pounds a month and if you are someone who shops a lot and regularly spends a lot of money on clothes then renting might actually be a good option for you if you're like already spending a lot of money each month on clothes, however I definitely don't spend £99 a month on clothes. I kind of go months of spending nothing and then I might have like one month where I spend like 200, 300 pounds on clothes because I just suddenly, let's go, blah, go a bit crazy so I don't know whether I would actually pay £99 a month for three items. So the reason why it's like 99 for three is because the items are designer so they are expensive items if you were to buy them and the other reason why I don't think it's for me is because I don't care about labels. I literally couldn't care less who, what brands these clothes are. I've got it up here like actually how much the items are if you bought them, so the cow print skirt is Alexa Chung and it would be a hundred and sixty pounds to buy. I would never pay £160 for a skirt, for that skirt, for any skirt. The red top is Mother of Pearl and it's £295. What? No, I wouldn't pay that, but some people are because it exists and then the tiger silk dress is by Hayley Menzies and it is £350. Oh yikes, so if you are someone who does care about labels, you care about designers, you're like super fashionista, you're like into that whole thing and you value those labels and those brands and that is totally fine, then maybe this kind of rental service would be really useful for you because like you love these brands but you can't actually afford to own the items but you pay a lower price and you get to wear them still, you get to rent them so that is pretty cool but because I'm not one of those kinds of people, I'm like it doesn't mean that much to me so is it even necessary? Like I'd be happy to spend like £40 a month to get some like Top Shop items or H and M, you know, it's like, oh, an ASOS rental service, that would be great! But yeah so I don't actually think I will be like doing the monthly subscription thing. What I might do is if I have like an event coming up or I have a month where there's like lots of parties or lots of stuff going on or maybe it's like my birthday month or something then I might get it for another month, 'cause I was looking on their website and you can basically cancel at any time and then just like restart at anytime, so it's very flexible, you're not like in a contract but I do really love the items that I have, I just don't think it's something that I would do every month especially because I've been getting into second-hand shopping a lot more recently and one of my Vlognukah videos coming up is going to be a big like second-hand clothes haul so get excited for that. That kind of thing excites me way more than renting expensive clothes. The other thing with renting expensive clothes means that I feel very anxious about wearing them outside. I feel very anxious putting them on, taking them off, making sure I don't like wreck a zipper or mess up a button or like pulling it over my boobs in case like it's too tight and I rip something, like those are normal anxieties that I have anyway, but if I break a zip or something happens, I'm just like, ah, whatever it's fine, but because I'm renting it and like I don't want to have to pay the £350 to replace this item if I wreck it, like I have to be so much more careful with these items and I'm like ugh, it makes me nervous and I don't want to feel nervous around my clothes, I just wanna like be able to put them on and like feel super relaxed and chill and enjoy myself. So those are my general feelings, I can't say whether or not I would recommend it to you or not because it totally depends on what the kind of person you are. If you're similar to me then no, I don't think I would recommend, maybe I would recommend as one offs for occasions but not as a monthly subscription but that all being said I am very excited even if a little bit nervous about wearing all of my items to Christmas outings and Christmas parties, oh yeah, I'm filming this way before so I'm going to be wearing these like throughout December. All right, well, thank you so much for watching, please like this video if you enjoyed it. I would love to hear in the comments if you've ever considered using renting clothes as an alternative to fast fashion and how you found that or like what kind of thing you would be looking for in a clothes rental service. Don't forget to subscribe and hit that notification bell because there will be a new video tomorrow as part of Vlognukah and I hope you're having a lovely holiday season festivity time. See you tomorrow, bye!
