if you've played around at all with AI image generation type tools like mid-journey stable diffusion Dolly you would probably know that coming up with funky ideas is not really the problem literally the sky's the limit but from a practical standpoint if you're trying to furnish your house or furnish an Airbnb what are the capabilities of current software in terms of coming up with good creative ideas that are feasible designs with actually the right dimensions and include real-life furniture that you could buy and you don't have to spend hours and hours just trying to figure out how to prompt the AI to generate the right stuff for you and if that unicorn exists how much would it cost hey guys if this is your first time here welcome my name is Lydia and I love design but even then it was really hard and time consuming to come up with something that works and looks nice stays within budget for either this house or the Airbnb that we have so I decided to test out 10 different online AI interior design tools to see what's available out there and whether I can use any of them for my next project here are the two spaces we will be using for our test subjects the living room which I have done a tour before and I will link the video down below it is kind of a tough design challenge I think because there are the two walkways out there it is part of the great room so the flow and the layout is kind of tricky I'm not necessarily looking to redo it but I think this is a good test the second test subject is this bedroom it's a different kind of challenge with all the temporary furniture and clutter that is around here there's a temporary filming space that you guys are familiar with and then there's a random baby clothes dresser a nursing chair that no one has ever used to nurse a baby and then this old cabinet that really doesn't need to be here I'd love to get some ideas on how to redo this room here are the 10 softwares I'll be testing today how I came up with this list is basically I went to Google and looked for interior design and AI tools and I just picked the 10 that looked interesting to me wherever there is a paywall I then reached out to the company to see if I can get full access for review purposes some didn't reply some said yes and some kindly offered to meet with their marketing team their founder and some gave me affiliate links which you will see below in full disclosure however none of them are sponsoring this video none of them told me what to say this is genuinely just my personal honest experience and how I would use it for my next project with all of that out of the way let's start the actual testing for each software I will systematically go through the user interface any cost your input and what output they give you any reiteration type of process where you can give further input and tweak the design the timeline involved and whether you can actually purchase the items shown in the picture and make it come to life make sure you stay to the end of the video I will be sharing what I personally will be doing the next time I have an interior design type of project whether it's for this house or for an Airbnb first up is room GPT I started with uploading an image of the space that I want to design it seems like most of these AI tools do not allow dot heic or the standard format from an phone so make sure you make a copy for a jpeg after uploading the living room picture then I looked through the different themes the room type is a living room and there are basically nine themes available and because I only have three credits I can only pick three of the themes to test out for the modern living room the layout is basically exactly the same as what I have right now it seems to think that my TV Niche is a wall art but that's okay they kept exactly the hexagon coffee tables so I didn't necessarily get new ideas on layout it also moved my fireplace and didn't recognize the book Niche but overall the modern design was pretty fun the minimalist living room I feel isn't necessarily minimalist but it looks nice and then the Vintage living room is interesting structurally it is completely different from my house and so I can't really I guess I could but I can't cost effectively make it happen moving the fireplace into the middle and adding all the brick interestingly I still kept my layout with the day bed on one side couch on the other side and the hexagon shaped coffee tables in the middle I think this tool could be fun for someone who is looking to generate some Initial Ideas getting a sense of what the color palette might look like or the different textures and materials however there isn't a way to give the AI any feedback and further tweak the images and for that reason it really limits the use for further refinement of an idea the first three credits are free so definitely go check it out and see if you like it for yourself if you were to buy further credits it's also not too expensive and it's not like a monthly subscription next let's look at reimagine home AI after creating an account I then uploaded our same living room picture and then it gave me an option to manually adjust or surprise me and I clicked surprise and boy was I surprised In fairness it gave me a design theme of French country which obviously didn't fit Myspace and then the color preferences were blue grass green and gray which also may not have been something that I would have picked clicking into the picture there's the watermark it is so funny that it thought of my three hexagonal coffee tables and just changed them into three different other Ottomans and still put them next to each other which is so strange there was interesting wall art I would say the scale actually doesn't make a whole lot of sense it's a big wall in the next picture it Consolidated the whole coffee table set up into one bigger coffee table which makes better sense for layout purposes structural detection wise it also moved my fireplace from the side to the middle or maybe it added a second fireplace I can't really tell it's a very blurry type of image in this iteration the art makes a little more sense in terms of sizing but I'm still not very impressed with the actual quality of design over here you can see the masked image of where they think you are asking for tweaks which I thought was good so switching up the prompts a little bit I went to a Scandinavian design theme and I put in more specific color preferences of olive green mustard and beige and for a design prompt I said eems you know the mid-century modern Eames chair I think it caught on to the mid-century modern-ness of the chair and that's actually a reasonable interpretation however color wise and the actual design wise this is not inspiring me and not giving me ideas that I would actually want to turn into real life let's give it one more try with the design theme of modern and let's try pink and I love blue dot I think you can really make this one work with a little touch of pink and that's too much pink all pink the same pink what is that even the decor like those things on the table and also what is this layout I am so confused I will say this is one of the only ones that even tweaked my layout so I give them credit for trying let's now try with the bedroom there's a lot of office space stuff that I am curious if it can detect what's going on back there from just this angle it gives me some Farmhouse designs with blue atmosphere which is an interesting prompt this is actually not terrible it's not my style but I think this is actually cohesive and reasonable this I can see could be someone's actual room let's see what happens if I add instructions to add an office desk bookcase remove that accent chair so it did not remove the accent chair it added I don't know what that is it looks like a changing table to be honest for this one it is two dressers no desk this last one has a desk and it's actually a reasonable layout let's try one more design theme with traditional and we'll put floral move and Airy okay the colors are correct and it's not as ridiculous as the pink living room there is a desk it's a little monotone for me but this is reasonable like those lamps are very reasonable choices for a traditional bedroom and this one actually has the floral bedding and it didn't go overboard this set of designs were reasonable if you wanted to download the image you do have to pay for it as long as you're okay with the watermark and if you're just generating ideas I think this is a great platform to just play around with it is definitely a downside to have to figure out the prompts which is kind of the same downside of using something like mid-journey next up interior AI the initial email signup is kind of cumbersome you have to verify that you're a human and then you have to activate in your email similar premise where you upload a photo and then it has a few different modes virtual staging interior design or freestyle and then there are quite a few styles to choose from ranging from maximalist to Tropical to minimalist to even Chinese New Year I don't know what that means but sounds very intriguing the example images look really nice however I wasn't able to get through the paywall so let's move on to kolov GPT this is more extensive and has a lot of potential so the first thing after creating an account you can upload a picture of your space and have it be redesigned just for fun I picked Farmhouse you know just to see what happens I think structure preserved means less structural changes where well designed means you would be open to changing the wall changing the flooring I picked well designed and I got four rendered images it really reimagined my space and I think there's pros and cons here Pros I think the designs actually look really good like all of these could be in a magazine it didn't just copy my existing layout and replace the Furnitures just like some of the other AI tools did it generated new cohesive good ideas and good layouts the cons are that it had drastic structural changes like I can't open this side of the wall to the outside let's see if things are a little more practical if I chose structure preserved and let's test out Bohemian again really nice looking designs but this is even further from my room like what happened to the fireplace let alone the single slope ceiling okay back to The Farmhouse pictures and just picking one of these images it takes me to a screen where it helps me find the products listed I click on this art piece and it gives me a random vase and a bunch of plans unfortunately the products identified are not really what's on the screen like not even close and then testing this chair way off not even the same color not the same design style the filtering by price is also off so the first few ottoman listed are within the 100 to 500 range but if I checked any of those boxes to filter them everything's gone lastly from a practical perspective none of these truly factor in the size of the room the last component I will test out here is the AI chat function I uploaded the bedroom photo and I requested to add an office area keep it neutral but I'd be okay with a pop-up blue or pink and keep it modern and mid-century modern and then it gives me this crazy image that is not even a bedroom like there is no office area there is no blue or pink what a rebel I tried to ask it to redesign but I'm out of credits overall I'm a little bit torn on this one for now the AI tool is a little bit disappointing it seems to just make really pretty pictures but disregard the actual space the furniture tool is also not ready to be useful I do think it is on to something though with the multiple products concept like when it's fine-tuned a bit a user could generate awesome design images to their liking plug that into the shopping tool make it all come to life super easy all in one place maybe one day here is the pricing for kolov GPT I would definitely recommend trying it and making use of the five free credits they also have a designer service for 159 dollars per design of just one room next is AI room planner I upload a picture and it renders a new idea there are quite a few design styles to choose from but you get one iteration each time and there is no further editing or prompting you can do overall it kept my color palette and just refreshed the design a little bit and I thought the quality of design level of intervention and the scale are all really reasonable the main downside is that it takes a while to load each picture but definitely recommend checking it out for idea generation if you're enjoying this so far first of all thank you this was truly one of the harder videos I've put together it took a lot more time than I thought and secondly I would really appreciate a thumbs up for the video it really does help out the channel and helps the video reach more people who are interested in the topic so thanks for doing that all right moving on to the next software Hestia this is a more full service design AI tool you start with an account and you describe the project you want to work on and you also have to run through this style quiz like which of these design pictures look good to you and what do you value in a home what do you want guests to feel about your space Etc going through the whole survey and setup took me about five minutes and after that it gives me my design style I was a little surprised that I am labeled as amusing blend I tend to think of myself as more boring than that but looking through the description and images like harmonious Union of Decor from different time periods and textures yeah I suppose that's me anyway I go through a few more preferences on color and textures and share about the occupants of this space By the way shout out to any parent who recognizes these names and what show they're from and lastly I upload inspiration images I used the Eames house but you could also use AI generated images from another software if you came across something that really spoke to you after that I downloaded their app to take measurements of my house it is an AR or augmented reality type of process where it detects the structural elements of the house and creates the floor plan without you having to go and actually measure anything which honestly measuring is my least favorite favorite part of the design process so I am so excited to see how this turns out heads up I did have to rescan a multiple times because we have an open concept space that kind of goes into the entryway into the pantry the software wants to see all the walls all the way around even though I am not designing those other areas in this project three days later I get a couple of 2D floor plans with two different layout options I'm definitely impressed with the quality of the AR scanner this is a really accurate floor plan I let them know which one I prefer and then it goes back to a wait for a 3D render which apparently will take another four to six days I'll share the results in a future YouTube short and I'll make sure to pin it in the first comment below they are kindly offering a 40 discount code for subscribers of this channel for either of these packages I'll leave the discount code in the description box below if you're interested Home Designs AI is next I know these names are a little bit generic and confusing but this one is pretty good so it's worth remembering you set up an account you upload a photo of the room you want to design and I like the number of levers you get to pull for adjustments there's different levels of intervention how many designs you want and then the different prompts you can put in I went with eclectic and put in prompts about being colorful and kid friendly and I actually really like this one it messed up the fireplace and thought it's books but that's okay I think these metallic wood veining on the hexagons are a great introduction of a new texture the two echoing circles are also pretty cool right now it's a clock and a white fluffy pillow but they don't call out to each other as much as this the art I would love to purchase it also structurally understood my single sloped roof the walkway to the side and also the windows I clicked the enhance button on the AI designed image and I don't really know what that does I think it's maybe a little more muted a higher resolution not sure now trying another design that is harder to do for this room I picked Coastal I think Coastal is one of those things that I just don't understand the design is actually solid it takes Coastal components and it still fits it into a pretty modern space I again refined it it looks a bit more muted again now trying the bedroom and full disclosure they gave me a few more credits to try this out fully but they didn't pay me to say any of this using the same Coastal prompts the bedroom is less impressive just kind of date it looking let's try my goodness there are so many options postmodern and I will prompt with soft and Airy and organic textures because we like that for bedrooms okay it's all right I don't know what post-modern is here trying Urban modern and I'll add something about wanting an office and give more specific prompts on color okay this is pretty cute same prompts but changing the style to mid-century modern not bad all fairly realistic layouts and Furnitures without too much alteration to the walls let's go back to eclectic and try to replicate what it did for my fun living room oh fun you know maybe I am eclectic it seems so pretentious but at least in Interior Design software lingo maybe that's how I'm labeled and here's the enhanced version Home Designs AI also has this pretty neat Precision plus function where you specify which area you're looking to have ai Redo for you the prompting and design style options are the same as before but now you get to Mark the Spot that you want changed and let's see how it does with my request to do a home office right here okay it's not bad it's very consistent with the rest of the room the layout I don't love I tried adjusting the prompts a little bit and it does get better as I play around a little bit more there are four different other modes that I didn't have a chance to test out and overall I think there are a few good use cases for the software one obvious one is real estate staging because the designs are actually really decent and realistic and there are so many styles to choose from and then number two is for help redesigning space like for me with the beach house I think Coastal Design is just not my strong suit and I think this software has good design Aesthetics that I can bring to life it does cost 27 a month so I would use it for when I have an actual project going on and not just to click around for fun two tree is a Furniture shopping service the premise is that if you provide them with your room layout they give you the furniture choices that are cohesive you add it to the cart and then you're done you start by answering some questions about the space you're trying to design your overall Aesthetics and you have to provide dimensions and pictures of the room from a few different angles and then any additional descriptive things that you can share like where are the windows or walkways all of this information then goes to an actual person and after a few days I get an email from Lindsay their designer with a floor plan and layout and she also offers to meet if I have questions which is really nice the Furnitures are presented on their website after you log in it's basically two proposals that you can mix and match drag and drop and find out what looks good together you can find out more about each of the furniture pieces with direct links to their website I like that there is no markup in their pricing they make money mainly from the service fee all the items are from places like West Elm blue Benchmade modern article room and board pretty much the places that I would have shopped at anyway all the pieces have been vetted for their size by their designers so as long as you provide it accurate measurements these should fit perfectly of note this does not include Decor like art plans throw pillows Etc once you've finalized the room then the next page is the shopping cart now they did mention they are working on fixing the shipping fees like for example if you have two things coming from article it shouldn't charge you twice for the flat rate shipping at the time of recording they are still working around the bug by issuing a refund but hopefully it'll be fixed soon in its default mode I think two tree works best if your design style is along the lines of modern or mid-century modern and so while they can help you furnish a place for like French countryside's Cottage maximalist Vibes it may not be the strongest use case personally I think the most helpful scenarios are one if you want to furnish an Airbnb quickly and you want good modern design this would be a really helpful tool to save time and two if you have an AI generated image that you just love but you need someone to translate that into an online shopping cart that fits into your house this is for you the cost is usually 149 flat rate for four rooms but I reached out to Tim the founder and he was so nice and offered to waive the fee for all of our subscribers using the code in the description below I don't make any money from this so really go check it out for your house your Airbnb you're welcome and let me know how it goes Full House is a Furniture resale company that's more catered towards vacation rentals at scale kind of like Saunder and they build an AI tool called Ludwig unlike the other softwares we've tried so far you don't actually upload a picture of your space you upload an inspiration photo so for example I uploaded the eems house and it finds furniture that would be on theme with that not the exact furniture in the picture but something that's inspired by the picture I figured a more fun way to test it is to upload a picture of a rainbow the ideas are actually pretty fun and pretty creative it plays up the arch with the lamp and the curved sofa and it borrows the colors into the rug and I think all the pieces do play pretty well together and it's pretty cohesive one major Pro of using this tool for finding cool furniture is that they're all contract grade and good quality stuff it's not going to be the average Big Box store item but something that's more hotel level and the software component is completely free they're a reseller so they make money on selling you the furniture and not on the software the con is that this doesn't take into account your space so you would still want to make sure that these pieces make sense for you in terms of style and dimensions Archie or Archie like architect is very similar to some of the other ones we've already tried upload a photo pick a style generate an image the design is fine but the structural detection is not as good as say Home Designs Ai and trying the bedroom now with the Bohemian design it did not understand the assignment this is not boho at all and then the art deco is also not on point all the pictures so far have this kind of a blurry Haze effect too which I don't love you get three free images when you sign up and then it's 15 per month afterwards based on just the similarity in the whole premise but lower capabilities this one was not my favorite moving on to home Styler the too long didn't read is that this is very customizable possibly super powerful but time consuming you could import your actual floor plan and then build out exactly what type of wood flooring you have and what kind of window the type of ceiling every little detail tail is customizable but in the interest of time I'm just going to play with what they had as a demo floor plan you can add furniture from a pretty extensive Library you can rotate the furniture you can even like push in the chair closer to the table and when you're ready you can create video tours of the space or render this really nice image you even get to customize what kind of daylight is outside for the outside lighting that seeps through the windows super impressive for the AI part of it you are supposed to be able to have a room and then just go to the auto styler and then it's supposed to apply the design style to the space sort of as a template I couldn't really get it to work but certainly sounds interesting the floor planner portion is free but to access the AI stuff you would need to pay about five to ten dollars a month which is the most affordable option we've reviewed this might be worthwhile for someone who is willing to build up their floor plan or already use software that can import a cad file and want to use the video a feature or fully visualize the space as if you're walking through it personally this is a little too time consuming for my design workflow I came across spoke when I was searching online but it's basically a Pinterest board it does ask me to upload a picture of my space in the beginning but it doesn't necessarily do anything with it on the interface I'm building out the walls of my room the floor and then I'm just adding photos to it photos like not even 3D drawn to Dimension objects on a floor plan just straight up magazine clippings also it costs money so that was kind of a fail last but not least is spacely you get a three-day free trial with unlimited features so I definitely recommend giving it a try the first feature I tried was the furniture detection tool and I used one of those colorful images that I liked from home design AI the main currency in here is Thai baht on the top search results but if you scroll down to Global Furnitures there are U.S options which is where I am the quality of search results it's kind of like a Google image search for example the metallic hexagons linked to this carbide growvite insert and I don't even know what that is it really depends on how unusual the piece of furniture is but I think this could be a really useful tool if you have an AI image from anywhere else that you want to translate now trying their design idea feature I uploaded a bedroom photo and asked for a modern design I like this slidey before and after thing and all four designs looked pretty nice not a drastic change in layout and it even kept where my wall art were but they look good and they're all fairly realistic at least structurally an additional feature with spacely is that if you like most of the design but wish the bed for example was different you could change just that specific object you could even give prompts to specify how you want that object change in terms color shape whatever at the bottom of each design there's also the color palette listed out with each hex code as well as a bunch of furniture and decor options for purchase there again not exactly the items shown on the image but I would say that these are closer than the ones from kolov GPT Let's test again now with the living room and let's see what Y2K is it is as crazy as it sounds let's do something more useful like minimalist these are all neutral tones and definitely to my liking I don't know that these are necessarily minimalist again these are more kind of international sophisticated modern they kept most of my layout there are some structural misses with the fireplace and walkways but I like their design choices materials and color palette and I think this is a great way to look for some inspiration so to summarize it's really still super early stages for using AI for interior design and within the software is that label themselves as AI there's still actually a wide spectrum of how much of it is actual machine learning versus me giving direction but that's kind of getting into the weeds of the definition of AI which I am by no means qualified to do anyway what I'm trying to say is the all-in-one perfect solution that is AI powered for interior design does not exist yet but for now I can still see a lot of different use cases for the tools that do exist and this is what I would do for my next project for idea generation I most liked homedesigns.ai I thought they responded to my prompts the best and the designs that came out were also the best really user-friendly interface and very customizable the main downside is that it cost money it's 27 a month at the time of filming you can obviously cancel after your design is done so hopefully that's not too terrible alternatively spacely also had some pretty good ideas and they have a three-day free trial what I would do after that is then I would take this image that is generated by Ai and plug that into one of the tools that can help me translate for this translation process full house is completely free and it kind of takes the idea and the essence of the image and finds furniture that matches that obviously the downside is that you would still have to go measure your room and read the dimensions of your furniture pieces and make sure it all plays well together but that would be a good free option alternatively if I have the budget I would probably spend the 150 dollars for two tree or Hestia just to have someone figure out which items will fit in what space based on the image that I provide from the AI image generation process they each have their pros and cons so go back to the review portion of the video for the full review and see which one would fit your situation a little bit better that's it for today's video hopefully you liked it and let me know if there are other ones that I should try other ones that I did not review and you like I'd love to hear them in the comments below and one last thing I wanted to show you this new mic it's so pretty I love it anyway hopefully it sounds better let me know below too if you notice the difference with this versus previous mics anyway I hope you're having a great day and I'll talk to you again next time bye
