I SPENT $75k BUILDING MY DREAM CAR!

[Music] all right guys we have a crazy project for you guys we bought a 1996 honda that's right not the acura this is the proper right-hand drive jdm honda integra type r this is a very cool car it has a completely different front end however the rest of the car from here on back looks almost identical to what the usdm or canadian spec car is this car was illegal up until this year in the united states yeah so this is a 96 which means just this year this car became legal in the u.s and the valleys are exploding and in this video you're gonna take this it's not rough condition but it is 25 years old we're gonna completely transform it in this video so the end of the video you'll see this car completely done and we'll tell you what it's worth after all the work now a lot of work doing to this car right damon we're going to put 21 000 in actual japanese imported overnight from japan spoon racing parts it was a childhood dream both dave and i had integras growing up you had a tight bar at one time he went completely bankrupt and broke trying to buy the car i couldn't even afford it i had your typical 1994 tegra rs model which like the basic model not even a gsr and i always wanted this so this is the dream but look at the condition of this car not the best carbon fiber hood we have a brand new spoon hood coming for this car the valve cover's in rough shape the engines in not too bad of shape but all of this is gonna get replaced so we're gonna do a full teardown take it to the body shop get everything fixed up start the project here with martin at sro to completely tear apart the car any parts we don't want so inside there's gauges there's speakers there's weird stuff over 25 years of ownership that's all going the hood's gonna go the lips gonna go mirrors are going and again we ordered all oem real spoon parts everything is spoon the valve cover the wheels we'll get to that we have the brakes everything spoon breaks brewing wheels i mean the whole thing everything you guys look at the condition that some of this stuff's in like the the strut brace is not in the best condition there's a lot of raggedy wires that's why the temp gate wasn't working oh there you go the wires aren't sticking in where they should be in some places not just aesthetics there's a lot of other things we're doing all from spoon as well we already have a couple of the parts arriving this radiator is a huge upgrade from the one that's currently sitting in there so we can show you guys this is our aluminum radiator yep super sexy so this car is gonna get new wheels new rubber the bodywork's all going to get done we're going to shampoo and clean the interior we're going to get rid of the steering wheel that's on there i'll tell you this yeah i ordered a spoon steering wheel did you get the spoon i take it this is amazing okay so you're spending all the company money spoon rear view mirrors and lug nuts we got everything spoon carbon fiber mirrors for the exterior look at this yeah beautiful that's going to look a lot better than this piece of cap oh all the brackets the blue brackets we have all the new spoon hoses that are blue and everything we're even going as far as getting when i was a kid all i could afford was to spoon reservoir little socks i ordered those as well did you hell yeah so honestly this car in this episode you'll see our dream so a couple of fun things we've noticed is well this car has been well driven it's 25 years old but look at this we got skunk 2 camber kit and some coney yellows in there that's like my childhood oh gee right that's my childhood and a suspension setup so we're gonna be completely replacing all of this stuff we have that's right the very rare now discontinued spoon suspension spoon coilovers they're real deal they're not cheap damon no expense has been spared for the type r build that much it looks like they took some white out to cover this collision here right now so all this has to be uh repainted yeah so the budget just went up that's a thousand dollars in this corner here but you know what though what's good is there's no rust on this car like it's pretty clean overall for being 25 years old this side is pretty good that corner is a lot better than the other side but there is this damage right here now but the light hit a certain angle you can see it looks like someone took like a rock hammer repeatedly smacked this fender patched up painted the front bumper as you can tell because it's plastic it's going to fade differently than metal so i can't confirm nor deny that this has been repainted before you can tell right now they're a little off so that'll get repainted at the same time it's a little bit of damage just because the front lip was literally i'm not even joking screwed in like like no real rhythm of rhyme to it just random hole screwed in the front bumper than that the body is pretty good again this car is 25 years old oh we got some good news over here yeah get some light we have a spoon and one muffler hold it right there spoon i'm pretty sure it's a whole spoon cat-back exhaust we'll find out more in a second we pull the whole car up as we look closer at the bodywork it's actually pretty rough gabe found some damage on the bumper that literally you can see where they passed up a hole with fiberglass and didn't quite bond with it enough so you can see the cheese grater effect right here and it begins the tear down and get rid of all these ugly old hoses get rid of this take the mugen cover off i'm gonna take this old crappy strut brace off and then we're gonna put everything back together we'll see how this looks a new rad obviously the spoon rad cap we got every little detail to make this engine look really nice if you need these clean perfect non-callous hands to do anything you let me know martin everything on this car is pretty old aged it's got patina just not the patina we want we have all the amazing new updated spoon sports blue hoses spoon headers we're gonna take out the rad and everything first we're gonna check out the radiator the fans yeah the hoses the thomas stuff okay and then we push it out wash it down give it a little bath no thanks to dave look how dirty this is ready to try to do our best to get good amount of all this in that back firewall we did a little test with some degreaser right here and you can see how clean it came now don't tell anybody but i'm going to show you the secret garage that's right these are some of raymond's personal cars of his collection we got raymond's itr old m black series sl55 his 300 zx by the way this car is like freaking mint it's quite the car collection that's not all hyper cars you know raymond loves this stuff too this was his high school car so he had to buy it back and he restores it just like this was a fun little project that he wanted to do ford lightning from fast and the furious restored everything got the wheels for it put new headlights in it new grille new hood had it all polished now it looks amazing thought about trying to steal that from him use it as a parts vehicle back up in kelowna turned out pretty good look how clean this is came out pretty pretty clean cleaning would have to be done by hand no this is dave's car it's clean enough already too nice for dave yeah but that's not the point that is the point we're doing it not like this let me give dave something else if they do lightning and we're taking this the lighting it's perfect for the island for him two-wheel drive all that power could possibly go wrong spy something really really cool over here and that is the moon caliper the spoon coilovers and what are you guys doing look at this okay this you're really good at this right here for wrap works spoon doesn't make rear calipers or rear brakes so these are just a nice aftermarket oem replacement that's why they look new and shiny there is a spoon coil over and i see here we have an upper control arm which is adjustable for the camber because there is no factory camera adjustment on an integra i remember that back in the day because all the cars sat like this we had camber that we wanted to look cool because we couldn't afford the camera kits oh yeah that's exactly how it's going to look now this will all be exposed this is really ugly we clean that up absolutely not that's how it looks they all look like that let's say we go up here what do you think i don't want to get it right you're gonna give me anxiety right now how about that right there that looks good oh so that's how it works no that's that's crooked no we got to get the arrow right on the edge right so look at that we've got that arrow right there and that one looks good right there all right i'm gonna go have a drink this car is gonna be done today done done done finished although you can't start why because it's not technically done though watch this first no i'm not who do you think hold on no no no it's brand new like you guys don't appreciate no money that's really funny actually i make that joke a lot new money in the louboutin wall and like a bmw in your driveway new money new one i didn't have a nice car until i was like 35 years old i had five thousand dollar cars the whole time i had more expensive cars and i got a mortgage and they got kids and divorces enough of your story nobody wants to hear it is this where you want it dave because i feel like that's where we want it it's in the center of that yeah it's in the center of that and that's on par yeah always by another oh my god there you go how beautiful is that done that is a work of art no travel in the suspension there's no travel there that's what it is it's like a big go car so the little strip that's in there has like how much travel maybe this much travel left the car's off the ground there's nothing holding the wheel up and look much gap so train shots will be real fun but honda life is all about having no comfort whatsoever but it does have cup holders so we'll give it that get out of here there's the front lip and the most important part spoon what's going on there you're doing some farming in the that is a spoon-esque valve cover yellow painted jdm valve cover uh because i couldn't get a spoon one in time but that's exactly what spoon would look like that one okay spoon straw tower ball spoon you're right that is what cools the motor that's it you guys there's a few things left to dial it in obviously it's been a very big project we had a full paint job on this car which we've never done this channel before and then everything from spoon and we're looking at about a fifty thousand dollar build here on a car originally that was seventeen thousand dollars we bought about a month ago so we've done the outside of the car outside is completely done we gotta get into the interior there's some stuff we need to fix up for days other than that this is a perfect specimen jdm car it has the 98 spec headlights you have it finally you got your jdm car you've been asking for boom thank you so much to sr auto group to fast track and to spoon sports usa for well allowing this to happen i love it dude this is amazing look at this thing legit my dream corner as a teenager and damon's as well was building one of these and you couldn't get one back then it was illegal to be in canada 2011 this car became legal in canada and then the parts become more and more rare and more and more expensive and this is one of those cars that eventually will really appreciate i saw one for sale a 98 hype r jdm just bone stock mint low mileage for 110 000 us dollars today ridiculous the prices are going up anybody who had one when they were younger or couldn't get one when they were younger now they have a few bucks this is what they want there's only so many of them just like dave just like me i have one too coolest things ever you gotta buy one and if you want this one just give raymond a call and i
