normally if you take a cruise in a balcony cabin you can look forward to views of the ocean and the ports that you'll be visiting that is not what happened on my last Cruise though because I stayed in what is called a conservatory mini Suite which although it did have a balcony it had no clear view of the ocean it is one of the most controversial cabins at Sea and definitely the strangest cabin I've ever had I saw some really weird things from here too there are plenty of reviews and videos online that warn people not to stay in this cabin but because I had booked what is called a guaranteed cabin I was automatically assigned this room usually when you book a guaranteed cabin you get given the leftover cabins and I did wonder if that is what happened here still I was very happy with the cabin that I was assigned cabin 8304 on Deck eight on piano's website the conservatory Suites look amazing and it looks as though they have clear views of the ocean but I knew from looking at the debt plans that there would be a Promenade deck between our cabin and the Sea the conservatory cabins are some of the most expensive cabins on the ship so I was looking forward to finding out what if anything made them worth the prize I was sharing the cabin with two other adults so I was looking forward to the extra space that we would get over having a standard balcony and I had heard that there were a few extra perks that came with the room I could never have predicted the perks that actually turned up but more about that later looking at the date plans I noticed that we were located by the stairs and also that there was a Whirlpool outside my balcony I've never had to think about noise from Beyond my balcony before but I did wonder would that be a problem my first impressions of the cabin were very good I loved the design and although it was a bit thinner than some cabins I've had it still felt very spacious and it felt very bright the sofa bed to my right would become my bed for the cruise so I hope that it would be comfortable the cabin also had a big double bed there was a TV there was a desk a kettle and a coffee maker I really missed my morning cup of tea when I stay in a cabin that hasn't got a kettle so I was very very very happy to see this here there are biscuits in the back of the drawer too which are replaced every day and I think it would be really easy to miss these if you didn't know they were there so if you do stay in this cabin make sure you get them and make sure you take them every day you've paid for them so take them home if you want next I headed out to the conservatory as it's called to have a look around if you're watching this and you're not from the UK you might be wondering what I mean by a conservatory Hudson what's a conservatory really a conservatory is a room that's mostly made up of class when I asked my American friend about it he said he knew what a conservatory was just from the game Clue here in the UK the game Clue is called Cluedo and that is your britishism of the week the space was decorated in the same kind of style as the rest of the cabin which I personally really like it was kind of a neutral Scandinavian theme and that really suits me it definitely felt like a go between space you're not quite inside you're not quite outside there were solid doors at both ends and a big sofa in the middle at this point I didn't realize just how much we would actually use this face or what we would use it for in reality conservatories can often be called sun rooms but we did not have any sun really on this cruise we were cruising out of the UK in February so that's to be expected the next room that I wanted to explore was the bathroom I was very very impressed with the size and the design and the shower was actually pretty big too we did have a bit of a problem with the shower because it didn't seem to drain very well so having a shower was a little bit like a race against the water you'd start showering and soon you would feel as though you were standing in a little pool still you never managed to spill out into the rest of the bathroom and speaking to my friends on board they had the same problem too so I think it's just a bit of a weird design we're all pretty tidy people luckily so we had enough space for our stuff but if you were staying in this cabin with somebody who was a bit messy you would need to set some ground rules because it would be easy for this bathroom to become overrun by toothbrushes and medicines as far as cruise ship bathrooms go this one is probably my favorite and I definitely didn't miss the glass wall in the bathroom that I had on my recent Costa Cruise the biggest complaint that I've heard about this cabin pre-cruise was that there was a lack of privacy on the balcony because the promenadeck is right there you can touch the Promenade almost we went outside to have a look around and at this point it was just really exciting to have a cabin that was different there wasn't really anybody outside and I enjoyed having a look up and down the Promenade deck I realized pretty quickly that I could see into the cabins beside me if I looked either way and I realized looking up that there was deck upon Decker on deck that could look down into my balcony and the fact that the sea is so far from my cabin did worry me a little bit I decided to invite my friends around for the sail away later to see how it would work in reality there were some other perks listed on the website which we didn't seem to get but I found something in my room which was so much better it wasn't a conservatory perk but it was definitely the result of somebody telling piano how much I love cookies I've made 488 videos on this channel over the last seven years and most of them mentioned how much I love cookies so it's not a surprise that somebody found out it wasn't long after this that our luggage arrived and we unpacked there isn't a huge amount of storage in this cabin we didn't have any drawers but for the three of us it was fine we didn't really have any problems we just had a couple of shelves each a bit of hanging space and then we would throw things like our shoes just in the bottom of the Wardrobe when my friends came over to watch the sail away I was pretty impressed with how many people we could fit on that balcony the space itself was pretty big and we had two chairs and a foot rest my niece who is pretty small did like to stand on this so that she could see over the railing usually I wouldn't encourage kids to stand on things on a balcony but worst case scenario even if she did manage to jump over the balcony she would just fall onto a chair on the Promenade deck so I guess that is a weird kind of benefit of this cabin I had a lot of people stop and chat to me when I was stood out here quite a few of them wanted to chat about the cabin because they had read bad reviews about this cabin online I wonder if they'll ever find this video that would be quite funny I think if you're somebody that's cruising Solo or just somebody who wants to make a friend this is the absolute best cabin for it at this point I hadn't wandered around the Promenade deck completely yet so I didn't realize how different some of the conservatory cabins were we ended up going to the top deck to finish watching the sail away and it was the next day that we started to properly realize some of the benefits but also drawbacks of staying in a cabin like this I was up pretty late on this cruise and my cabin mates usually weren't and they do wake up earlier than me if we were in an inside cabin there wouldn't really have been any way that I could have slept by they were awake or vice versa but because we had this extra space they could sit out in the conservatory and have a cup of coffee and I could stay in bed and vice versa I did joke at one point that they should just leave the balcony cabin doors open and I would just climb in from the Promenade deck and sleep in the conservatory I don't think that in reality that's a very good idea though I was worried that we might be woken up by noise of people on the Promenade deck but when the doors were closed you really couldn't hear a thing I slept very well on my sofa too every bit as well as I would have in a proper bed so I would recommend this sofa bed it was very good I did find it almost impossible to take a picture on the balcony because there would either be loads of people in the background of my photos there would be teenagers in the hot tubs or there would be somebody who was just wanting to chat to me about something when we sat down on the balcony we were pretty much out of view the glass is frosted so once you're under that it feels like you're just hiding on your balcony there also is some sort of reflective tint on the outside doors so people can't see into your cabin if it's dark outside and you have the lights on inside the cabin and you can kind of see some shapes but that's only in the conservatory part you can't see all the way into the real cabin we could see people's heads bobbing past though and that is really strange when you forget what type of cabin you're in you're used to seeing the sea at the end of your balcony and all of a sudden you're seeing people there it's really weird I did spot a couple of my fellow YouTubers Paul and Carol skipping along Promenade deck and I asked Paul if he could sit in the chair that was closest to my balcony so I could see how close I would be if people were sat here there was a height difference between my cabin and the Promenade but when I went for a walk a little later I realized that the height of the Promenade deck increased as you went round but the height of the cabin stayed exactly the same I think we were quite lucky with our cabin's position and I wouldn't want one of these cabins that went straight onto the Promenade deck then you'd have to really lay down duck down to try and hide if you're wanting to hide of course you could just stand if you wanted our cabin really became the Hub of where we would meet other people if we were going for dinner or we'd meet in the evenings not just because because of the extra space that we had but also because of the location right in the middle of decade very occasionally we could hear other people out by the lifts or the stairs but it really wasn't a problem a side note here from editing me we did hear some interesting noises from the whirlpools [Music] I'm glad the cabin had the extra room to invite my friends around because when I came back to the cabin one day there was a mysterious tray with a white napkin over the top when I pulled this off I could genuinely not believe my eyes I was expecting I don't know some small canopies maybe some little cookies possibly some little cookies but there were four cookies that were as big as pizzas they were bigger than dinner plays I did share these with as many people as I could when my friends were nearby I'd say oh come in for cookies because it was a lot of cookies whoever made this happen thank you so much they were very nice A little later in the cruise I found out that they also have the conservatory mini Suite cabins up on Deck nine and given the choice I would definitely pick one on Deck 9 over deck 8 because you get all the benefits of the mini Suite but you don't go straight onto the Promenade deck maybe I would prefer the Promenade deck cabins if you could get out onto the Promenade deck but even though we were so close to the Promenade deck you still have to go in down the corridor out the door and back along the Promenade deck again so unless they throw over a rope ladder or something I'll pick take nine I have cruised on board pianos Iona before and I stayed in the cheapest and smallest cabin inside the ship with my brother to find out how that cruise went and if we were sick of each other by the end of the week watch this video next
